Bad, bad, bad, bad, bugs, bugs, bugs, bugs. Unforgivable.

And for the people that "know the obvious graphical bugs and balancing issues will all be fixed in time..." Well good for you to know things, but as of "now", that game is the worst Bethesda ever released... and they usually release games full of bugs.

Games is still buggy, after beta. Is more unstable than Fallout 4, Textures are really bad, and even young moder can make better one. I have no idea have so big company can make so low quality product. Don't buy it if you do return it.
And now we got "no refund" controversy.

I wouldn't give it a zero because I can still play it. The issue is already addressed by my fellow reviewers, but I'd like to pinpoint some of the issues that I was affected

    1. The lackluster privacy security (IP addresses, etc) 2. The fact that you can change the config in your game files to basically give you items, etc (just like the developer console in past Fallout and/or Bethesda

    3. The unable to play/group up with your friends. The main point I bought this game is to play with friends, and they messed that one up
    4. A barren wasteland of a game (a restricted sandbox), it's basically Gmod without the fun
    5. 50GB update and 15-17GB follow up

I WILL change the rating if the game is (no other words to say it) a proper flushed out game.

TL;DR Don't buy this game until it's heavily patched and fixed. If you still want to buy and play this game, I suggest to buy it on sale (20-30US$) if there is any.

Any game can be fun with friends--so I can not simply give Fallout 76 a pass because of this. Everything that made Fallout a fantastic franchise is essentially thrown out in favor of cultivating a unique online experience. Even that seems to have a few rough edges too... I will start by saying this. I've played fallout since Fallout 3. Ever since I played Fallout NV I have always wanted an online fallout. When i first heard about Fallout 76 I was ecstatic. But the fear I had when the first day of beta came around, and the launcher didn't work what-so-ever, is unmatched. i should've listened to my gut. Anyone who tried to launch had an approx. 70 gig gameI will start by saying this. 70 gig game wiped completely off their PC. But this is a review so i wont just talk about the pre-launch.
For the game itself, I'll make a true list of pro and con

    +Fallout (kinda)
    +Dream of multiplayer came true
+There are some cool addition in guns and enemies
+The LOCATION of the game makes it beautiful

-It is literally a combination of Skyrim / Fallout 4 (look up the coding on the Scorch Beasts.. and Falllout 4 references in the files)
-The survival is just annoying. food and drink run out stupidly fast even with perks and disease is so common
-No human npcs and the robots they have are all the same robots from previous games with not many changes to even voices
-The bugs... dont even get me started. i can make a 5K character review just on that. And i dont want to hear that "new games have bugs" because this garbage is like Fear Factor for gamers.
-Uses the same old engine they had for ages. (that sucked to begin with)
-The player interaction is dull, either someone hits you for 10 minutes and breaks all of their weapons (just for you to stimpack for all the hp) or they're babbling and mouth breathing like a mongoloid into the microphone not knowing they are even in voice chat. When they find out they join 90% of players who have turned it off
-The upgrades and crafting is too much grinding for the little reward it yields.
-THE STASH LIMIT (i filled my stash limit (with only useful materials, not even weapons) within hours.
-The constant radio-silence from Bethesda because they know they lied through their teeth the whole time
-Building is trash.. (enough turrets to defend your base leaves you with a little amount left over to actually personalize while no turrets allows your base to get steam-rolled by enemies. Plus my build limit has been glitched at full with nothing built for 6 days)
-Lighting / god rays are nauseating and shadow effects are based on your characters orientation to the object.
-Everything is tied to FPS (reload speed, run speed, etc.) and their solution was to cap the fps at 63 because they "couldn't do anything about it."
-Support staff blame the games instability on your pc hardware or give you a copy/paste blanket response to justify.
-End game leaves nothing to do. I killed the Scorchbeast Queen at level 50 and it dropped mediocre loot. I am now level 93 and the items level caps at 50 even though i fight enemies around my level (little guns, big enemies). Making the grind harder and harder for literally 0 reward.
-Factions are useless. I've done just about all the factions' entire quest lines (about 20min to complete) and all I've gotten was stupid costumes and access to vendors with sub par gear.
-Boring. There's a big world with nothing to do except mindlessly kill stuff and do gather missions that yield, yet again, useless gear.

I doubt anyone will even read this far so i feel i'm wasting my time. In conclusion, I could go on for days, but Bethesda's EA level deceit and laziness has shattered my love and trust for the only company in gaming that i still respected. BIGGER let down and over hype than No Man's Sky. Don't understand why this took YEARS to develop this AIDS vector when it was a copy and paste job, but I do understand why i will never buy another Bethesda game, period.

That being said, this is nowhere NEAR a finished game. Even for a Bethesda title, this game is bug city. I truly challenge anyone to play this game for 30 minutes without experiencing a game-breaking glitch that renders the game literally unplayable (The no-damage bug, being stuck in power armor, getting stuck on terrain and being unable to get out, and more!).

    Pros:
--Story (This one some of you might disagree with me on -- I actually find the story to be extremely interesting, though extremely short. I love the personal tales of West Virginians who did or didn't make it to any kind of shelter. You can see a lot of great storytelling through holotapes and terminals, much like reading a book. That being said, it's pretty questionable how it ties into the lore whatsoever)
    --Lots of potential
--Fun with friends (though honestly, there's very few things in the world that aren't more fun with friends)
--Good time waster (Easily sunk 40 hours into the game, at least until it started to get too repetitive for me to want to continue)

    Cons:
--Glitches and Bugs (easily thousands, at least 20-30 of which completely destroy the playability of the game)
--No motivating factors to complete quests (In many games like Fallout:NV or Skyrim, there would be quests that you'd receive from a distressed NPC, and you'd feel that motivation to go save their friend/retrieve their special item immediately. Depending on the quest, that even had an impact on the later game! Not so in 76!)
--Quests are bland and boring (FETCH. QUESTS. I've been racking my brain on this one and I can't think of a single quest in this game that amounted to more than "Go here. Get this item/kill this enemy/clear this dungeon. Return.")
--Repetitive gameplay (What is there really left to do after launching a nuke and killing the Scorchbeast Queen? Go scramble around for more junk? Complete more fetch quests/events?)
--PVP (LOL Nobody on Bethesda even thought about how to make this enjoyable. This could be as easy as what World of Warcraft does. Designate PvP and PvE servers, and allow players to choose. No "duel" system, none of that garbage. Let me battle ANYONE within 10 levels of me [to avoid ganking] on a PvP server whether they're aware of it or not. There's no fun in setting up an ambush on another group if they can see you on the map, and if they have to shoot you back to actually engage in combat.)
--Leveling System (Why do I level up if the levels mean nothing? I understand wanting to keep the game difficult, but the levels don't even matter! As a level 18, I was able to kill multiple level 68 scorched with very few issues, but struggled against a level 20-something Deathclaw.)
--Price Drop (Are you kidding me? I paid $60 for this game, and less than a week after release, it's selling for $35. I understand you want to sell the game by any means necessary, but my god Bethesda, way to dump on your pre-order/release day fans.)
--Gameplay Issues (The Pip Boy is designed terribly and the menus are overall clunky. This isn't an issue in single player Fallouts, where the game pauses while you access your menu, but in 76 it is truly a nightmare. Live-action VATS is also poorly executed in my opinion, and I also find that clunky and difficult to use.)
***--Bethesda Response to Controversy (I'm sure by now the "canvas to nylon bag" switcheroo is common knowledge, but if not, here's a brief summary: Bethesda's collector's edition of the game cost $200~ and came with a replica T-45 Power Armor Helmet, and a canvas bag to put it in. When people got their orders, they found that the bag is actually nylon. This is false advertising and controversial in itself, but it gets worse.)

***They offered 500 Atoms (approx. $5 worth of in game currency) to anyone affected by this. That's a spit in the face alone, but even better is the fact that in the United States, that is legally considered an out-of-court settlement and means that anyone that takes the Atoms deal is not allowed to sue for false/deceptive advertising, which leads me to believe this wasn't even a genuine "Yeah, we messed up, sorry guys", but was in fact a scheme devised to avoid as much legal liability as possible. This is no longer the Bethesda we know and love.)

This game really has/had the potential to be the best game in the series. After all, I really think all people wanted was a Fallout 5 with co-op. God knows that's all I wanted. Instead I got this mess of a game that, had I waited one week, I could've got for $35 instead of $60.
It's not the worst game I've ever played in my life. I've had a few funny moments with my buddies. It could've been a good game. That's about all the praise I can muster up for this game.
Release a finished game next time.

Some things have appeal when they are very bad, like the movie "The Room" or "Rubber" or loading simulator, and some people buy the game for the appeal that it is really bad. If your looking for a really bad game to play and laugh at. Here is the game of the year.

Any good review for this game is a lie by definition. I`m almost what you could call a fanboy for the Fallout Series. I've been playing them for 20 years. This game does not deserve to be called Fallout. There is no captivating history/quest. The game is overwelmed by bugs.

A really outdated engine, dysfunctional hit response, broken aiming system, endless bugs and annoying glitches, bugs, bugs, bugs, no NPC's (what makes Fallout a Fallout is the storytelling, you take that out of the equation, you are left with a broken, glitched, non-functioning game). Now, I can write about what is wrong with that game for hours and make a 45 minute review video but, that is not the point. We can all see that Crysis 3 looks like it was made 5 years after this game, not before. Console players may not be used to such graphics but this looks like garbage on PC and the frame rate is locked to 60hz. (You can throw that 144hz monitor away) Most of the rational, non-ignorant gamers already know how bad and unplayable this game is, despite this really interesting 'Bethesda Fanboy' movement. These big game companies cannot treat us like half brained maggots or sheep, putting out an incomplete product with false advertisement and full price while they 'DO NOT OFFER REFUNDS'. What kind of a business practice is this that you cannot return a product you don't like and that is BROKEN. That is why the game is not on Steam or any other provider with first world customer protected standards. If you live in the first world and paid by a credit card, dispute it. If you got a 'code' instead of a 'disc copy' as advertised, if you got a plastic bag instead of canvas, take action and protect consumer rights. This game ruined Fallout series. Firstly glitch, glitch and glitch. That's what I see. Secondly, the V-Tec is becoming useless in this game. Third, who the heck is gonna reading books for story??? And finally, this game has lack of multiplayer and pay to win. Don't waste your $60 for this game

Fallout for many of us has made its way into our living room with hard earned weapons and loot filled with emotions stories and heart warming characters that flesh out the monotony of "grinding". What was a well polished gem of story lines hard decisions and morally heavy choices has now been thrown backwards by flat characters. The idea is a good one where i found myself enjoying time spent with friends feeling tension build as we develop certain skills that come in handy. In a team someone can specialize in lock-picking one with safe cracking and hacking while crafting can be another's contribution. In the early hours that was exactly it. As you progress dedicating yourself to a skill set was no longer necessary the skill based system is in a word "broken" being able to swap skills mid mission make the grind one person worked for a useless task. The reward of grinding was dropped in my opinion with a buggy quest rinse repeat system that only provides compensation to levels and your experience bar. The reasons we enjoyed fallout are all absent in the version. The NPCs are flat and dull as the informational cards you get to read while waiting for take off. The base building is bland and allows for little more than convenient spawn points which in most situations is still a system that means you spend the first 15 minutes of your mission running and making small talk while getting no major tasks done. Quests are a series of "get those and go here"s which in prior installments meant you would find yourself wandering and happening upon four other quests, this take a fallout's usually well thought out quest system was as exciting as a trip to your local market store searching the shelves for a can of water chestnuts only to realize that you hate water chest nuts the entire time. Within my 50 hours and near 46 levels of grinding on new fallout game i have few memorable moments. I would actually find ways to keep myself entertained while doing missions from watching videos to listening to audio books. All in all i think for a 60$ asking price this game at most would be worth five dollars on a mobile platform like on my phone... This is a step backwards on everything that Bethesda promised us with this release and has made more concerned for future games from the once promising studio. Expand

This is an overwhelming disappointment. I knew what it was as well. I played all the fallout games, and I've played MMOs. It does none of the things either genre does well, and doesn't even manage to have enticing microtransactions. This is an astonishing dumpster fire of a game from a great studio. What a pity.

This game is a buggy train wreck. I've never played a game more buggy than this one. I got this game not really minding if it had typical Bethesda bugs like enemies clipping through doors sometimes or enemies running around with plastic baskets on their heads. This game is a buggy train wreck. I've never played a game more buggy than this one. I got this game not really minding if it had typical Bethesda bugs like enemies clipping through doors sometimes or enemies running around with plastic baskets on their heads. However, here are the bugs that I've gotten and most if not all of these have still not been fixed.

    1. Continually spawning naked or teammates spawning naked after fast traveling. It's a cosmetic issue but it's frequent and annoying. Once my friend who was playing a female character spawned as a naked man.

    2. Friend requests didn't show up in social for about the first month I played so accepting friend requests was impossible.

    3. Enemies that do not take damage. Ran into a very bad scorchbeast encounter with this issue and have ran across several enemies that do not take damage.

    4. Frequent server crashes. Multiple times I've started the game and joined server only for it to immediately crash as soon as I load in.

    5. One time I got stuck on a loading screen but my character spawned into the world anyway and a teammate who wasn't nearby noticed my health bar going down. I was attacked by something and killed while still stuck on the loading screen. So when the game finally loaded, my corpse fell out of the sky and onto the ground.

    6. A teammate and I entered into one of the mines in the game (just a regular dungeon for those of you who haven't played the game) and suddenly she wasn't there. She could see me, but I couldn't even see her at all. The game was treating her like she was on a different server. So I went to "join" her, thinking somehow maybe I was on a different server. When I "joined" her, she was nowhere to be found. Just a face full of enemies.

    7. Teammates or myself showing up invisible with nothing but a bar above our heads. Also invisible enemies.

    8. Quests that are bugged. I have started an entire quest-line with a teammate and only done that questline with them. Yet, if I sign on to continue it with them another day, suddenly one of us doesn't have the quest anymore even though neither of us had completed it. I also had similar with an event. The event triggered for my teammate and never triggered for me so I got nothing for completing it.

    9. The game almost never closes. It just crashes when you try to exit.

I'm probably forgetting some of the bugs I have encountered. There have been SO MANY. And the things above have happened multiple times. I am a HUGE Fallout fan and I absolutely regret buying this game. Save yourselves the money. In its current state, it's not even worth buying it on sale. It does have it's fun moments but honestly, every single time I play the game I wind up frustrated by all the bugs. The only reason I bother to even try to continue playing it is because I wasted so much money on it. At least I didn't buy the Collector's Edition (definitely don't waste your money on that).

If you're thinking of buying this game I advise you to go and see Worth A Buy's review of this game on youtube. I gave it 1/10 just because of the map and music being good. Everything else is pretty much trash.

    Pros:

    - Map
    - Music

    Cons:

    - Bad servers
    - No interesting/funny npc's
    - No real quests, only fetchquests/following holotapes 90% of the time.
    - PVP sucks and nobody does it
    - No real VATS (can't slow down an online game) ;)
    - No improvement from Fallout 4, just an online version of the game minus the interesting quests and npc's etc.

    I could go on..

Playing with a group it took about 10-15 hours before the game got tolerable. At the stage where we were no longer having to worry about resources to micromanage the survival system, around Level 25-30, the game started to open up and give us more options.
We had more caps to trade with players, more resources to sell at our camps, and were starting to be happier with the visual appearance options we had.
It's worth saying that the game is still incredibly mediocre in its current state. The quests are barren and mostly unmemorable, the performance isn't amazing and the servers have disconnect issues regularly. There's a lot to explore in Appalachia, but not really a lot to do beyond sight seeing.
With that realization my group struck on making our own fun: Roleplay is where this game shines.

Arguably more than any previous Fallout game, 76 allows you complete character freedom. You're no longer the protagonist, you're one of many to emerge from Vault 76 and your path is yours to decide. With no real draw from the main quests and little offered tasks beyond chasing levels and loot, our attention was quickly drawn towards the camp system.
If you liked settlement building in Fallout 4, you'll like it here; infact I like it *more* in 76, it feels more personal and rewarding considering that it can be visited by your friends and other players. With the camps being more limited in size than Fallout 4's settlements, they feel strangely more inviting as you spend more time there.

My group picked up the roleplay path of traders. We made our camps together, made characters and had hours of fun greeting players like we were the NPC's and they were the protagonists. We provided a friendly area for new players to visit right on the path from the start of the game, and after a week of making our own stories for once, we walked away from 76 with not only a positive outlook, but a desire to purchase the game and keep playing.

That said... We made our own fun. From a Roleplay stand point the game is fantastic, I just wish it offered more features on this front and really built to that strength. Fallout 76 is a confusing game, it seems to want to offer the traditional Fallout experience, but doesn't go far enough with the features it needs to make that experience. Meanwhile where it excels, in its multiplayer character opportunities, it also doesn't go far enough to really flesh out those systems and make the game a truly unique positive entry in the Fallout series.

All round, if you enjoy sandbox freedom and you enjoy roleplaying, you'll likely enjoy playing, just make sure you've got a group going in as not a lot of players use voice chat, and text chat currently isn't implemented.
If you enjoy the single player experience, that's still there in 76, but it's incredibly limited by the game's current roster of content.

6/10 - A creatively liberating, yet shallow experience. Lots of potential, but needs further fleshing out.

    >TL;DR The world would have been a better place if F76 didn't exist.

F76 and F4 were being developed at the same time, F4 was clearly the favored child and it shows. F76 feels as though it was trying to be an answer to bringing Fallout players together, but it was done in a way nobody in the community wanted with a huge amount of assumptions on the dev teams part. The world was empty, and the catalyst that wanted to be the storyline was a lifeless excuse for a dynamic and capturing campaign. The campaign lies solely in reading, not just short entries, but pages and pages and pages worth of text.
A large part of the interaction within the game relies on people encountering each other, but still tries to let you see through the Fallout window. Yet there are no survivors or NPCs, only game modes and events to try and bring people to an area.
The overall graphics were a noticeable set back from F4, which is disappointing considering both were made at the same time. The gameplay mirrors what we know to be Fallout as closely as it can, but overall it felt rushed, short handed, and not very well thought out.

This game is so bad. The installer does not work. The game has no NPCs. The game has no characters. There are endless bugs. There are micro transactions. No mods. No private servers. PVP is completely broken. This is so bad its humiliating. I have played every single Bethesda game and this is beyond redemption its so bad.

The performance is laughable for a multi-billion dollar company who has funds to spare. The graphics are years behind, and they continue to insist on the use of their now ancient engine. The game is riddled with bugs and Bethesda should no longer get a free pass for this. It reaches a point where it ceases to be funny, and starts to become grating.

If you're a fan of games with depth, substance, good writing and characterizations, then do yourself a favor and steer way clear of this, it's not the Fallout you love. but instead an abomination made by devs and publishers who don't give a **** about anything more than bogging their pockets down with as much of your money as they can at the expense of everything else.

Tedious game, buggy mess, bad netcode, bad engine, bad fanboys who claim a turd rolled in glitter tastes fantastic. I'm all for change, for the better. Unfortunately this is a bad change. Even a lot of the positive reviews list some bugs and say the game is only OK to them, then still give it a perfect 10 score! Fanboys disgust me.

Incompetent doesn't do this justice. Every system in this game is broken and unplanned. I'll explain why but please understand, you are not just getting a game 'different' from the Fallout franchise, you are getting an abomination of game-design that happens to have a Fallout skin. Vault-boy and retro-futurism, stimpaks, psychos and iguana-on-a-stick. That's the ONLY way you can call thisIncompetent doesn't do this justice. That's the ONLY way you can call this a Fallout game. Fallout 76 has no idea what it is.

    1) No humans - what does this mean? A LOT is the answer.
    - No dialogue (all NPCs are robots, or can't be talked to). Takes a toll on RP
    - No quests have any choices, they all have the same result. You go to a place and you kill them all because they're different, and do the action you're required to do.
    - All quests are from robots or holotapes. You just press E on them and wait a minute, or activate a holotape. No personality, and no motivation to complete a quest. A voiceline is this: you are just being asked to do an action somewhere and being subjected to the horrible lore fluff.
    - All humans are players: Players do not even come CLOSE to covering the role of human NPCs in previous games. They always play without sound, and the way the game is made, the only reaction you can have to meeting someone is "oh there's a guy". That's literally all.

    2) Empty world, empty lore
    - Bethesda says 4 times as large, I say 4 times as sparse. Everything is far apart and is NOT more rich than New Vegas' map for instance
    - Exploring without a quest is pointless, you can loot an entire facility and find nothing of use, there's no big reward for clearing a building. The odds of picking up a quest are abysmal as well, you learn to not enter any building that doesn't have a questpointer.
    - A map has so few players that you can play a whole day without meeting anyone. If you go to Flatwoods you'll see 2-3 people, but otherwise don't count on it.
    - Game is filled with lore fluff that has no purpose. Only 1/5 terminals serve a purpose, the rest are filled with stupid lore that has no bearing on impact. In previous games you learned about the location, maybe found something you could apply to find a stash or solve a problem, but here it's utterly useless.
    - No ultimate objective: Remember how we purified the Capital Wasteland's water? Remember bringing peace to a war-torn Mojave? Forget that, you are doing favors for robots in Fallout76, there's no endgoal or build-up, JUST a stream of kill/retrieve quests until you can't take it anymore.

    3) Bad gameplay
    - Perks are even worse than Fo4 where they already botched it completely. First of all, the interface is confusing beyond belief, you apparently select a s.p.e.c.i.a.l point and then get to scroll around and choose which perk you want. The perks however are complete RNG and you can end up not being able to level up how you want to. I went with intelligence for hacking and energy weapons, but only got Hacking 2 at level 23. In old Fallout, each point did something specific. In Fo76 however, taking a mentats is a mystery, special points by themselves don't appear to do something specific except for strength with weight capacity. Second big thing, being an intelligence main for example is not viable at all. You get some bonuses to weapon condition and weapon-modding, but no bonus-damage like strength/perception perks or anything like that. If you go full int, you can just mod weapons slightly more (not much) and _eventually_ hack complicated terminals. Like I said, after maxing int, it was in level 23 I could hack the next level above what int 1 can.
    - PvP is a joke, all players are visible on the map at all times, and if you shoot someone they take 5% damage only. You are then given a bounty, nobody is visible to you anymore and players do full damage to you. People can effortlessly fast-travel close to you and kill you. PvP is one big standoff to see who's dumb enough to shoot first, and then 1-shotting the other player instantly. You only drop junk and a couple caps btw, so the enemy runs at you again with his full inventory still available. The thing that made me uninstall was a guy whose whole strategy was wearing a powerarmor, running close to you, and VATSing to oneshot you. He stimmed endlessly and couldn't be killed.
    - You will be overencumbered every 20 minutes and need a workbench or stashcrate, which WILL run out
    - Scorched and mutants are everywhere in groups and all have guns

Important: you will see people defend this game. Understand that these are people with a raging boner for the fallout aesthetic and nothing else. If they get to open it up and eat buffout and shoot brahmin, they will love it and die for it. If you like this game and convince 1 person to buy it, I genuinely hate you. It takes LSD-overdose-levels of hallucination and delusion to like this game and fill in the blanks the game leaves. Just being open to RPing the setting is not enough by a HUGE margain. Steer clear at all costs.

Playing solo is honestly depressing because it is literally like playing a mmorpg alone with no life in the world. "Human interaction" is nuance is fun in the first 30 minutes and then completely ruin the immersion because you fast realize there is no purpose in the game whatsoever and will find many many players just laughing or screaming, making noise in voice chat (no push to talk). No pvp because the only thing you can do is shoot to an enemy, dealing 1% of dmg and by doing this you send a duel invitation. PvP is literally just duels. There isn't the sense of survivng or constant threat that ANY other survival online can give you, because you cannot be killed by anyone iif you don't want to and viceversa. DO NOT BUY THIS CRAP.

Fallout 76 is horrible. For those that are like me, and expected a Fallout 4 experience with multiplayer, you'll be EXTREMELY disappointed. This game is much more like a bad Fortnite clone with Super Mutants. The graphics show no improvement at all over Fallout 4. The sounds and music are uninspired and lack emotion.

Now that we've gone over the good things about Fallout 76, let's go over the bad:

First and foremost is that the world is EMPTY! After looking for hours for a civilization, I found nothing. Not a single place that could pass for a settlement. There are no NPCs for you to interact with. There's nothing to give the game life. It literally throws a bunch of random players together and says "have at." The quests are boring and when you go farming monsters, they respawn faster than MMORPGs.

Now let's look at story. The story is this: follow the overseer, but we're not going to give any sort of guidance or hints, or anything. It's like playing the original Legend of Zelda with no shops, old men and women, or just about anything else that you can interact with but it's on a map the size of The Elder Scrolls II: Daggerfall and dead enemies come back before you get a chance to get across the screen.

Next we have the glitches. Now Bethesda games have always been buggy. At this time, we expect their games to have a lot of bugs in them. Never before has any of their games done what Fallout 76 does. They've never completely destroyed what minuscule amount of immersion you might have with Fallout 76 by having random burned corpses and Brahamin spawn with their asses hanging out of ovens. This may be comical at first, but after seeing it repeated over and over again, it destroys your experience if you're even able to have one.

This game is purely meant for online multiplayer. It's honestly the only way that you're going to get any sort of enjoyment at all out of this game. The bad thing is that the multiplayer on PC and PS4 is completely unstable. The EXTREMELY bad and dangerous thing is that in both PC and PS4 versions, Bethesda makes absolutely no attempt to secure your IP address or account information. The information is unencrypted and anyone with the most basic transfer interception software will get full access to PSN/Steam user information, game license information, IP addresses and whatever else they want to pull up on you or anyone else in the session. Bethesda does absolutely nothing to protect you while you play this game.

Overall, Fallout 76 was a game that I expected to have bugs, but still be fun and exciting while keeping true to the Fallout experience. What I got was barely functioning piece of **** that has nothing to do with Fallout other than being set in a wasteland and having the Fallout brand name. When I found out about the completely open user information for everyone in a session, I immediately deleted my copies and changed all my passwords.

This game was a complete waste of money. I will give Bethesda one last shot with Elder Scrolls 6. If they do to that, what they did with Fallout 76, I'll be absolutely livid and will never purchase anything made by them again.

Fallout 76 is an empty soulless pitiful excuse of a Fallout game that should've never come to be in the first place. Bethesda showed with Fallout 4 they we're pushing for a direction where they forced the players hands in the story but now this is far FAR worse than anyone of us could've anticipated. I really REALLY wanted 76 to be good, I've been wanting coop fallout for years now butFallout 76 is an empty soulless pitiful excuse of a Fallout game that should've never come to be in the first place. Bethesda showed with Fallout 4 they we're pushing for a direction where they forced the players hands in the story but now this is far FAR worse than anyone of us could've anticipated. I really REALLY wanted 76 to be good, I've been wanting coop fallout for years now but Bethesda completely misinterpreted what the customers wanted here. When we wanted fallout multiplayer we meant a co-op option for the story, not a bunch of people running around the world doing their own thing. And even the story for this game is at best mediocre. Linear side quests that tell you to find this to get this or find this to kill this. Even the main story has you following a pattern of find me here, find me here, find me here and they're never there! Fallout was meant to be a open world RPG with in depth story and lore. This game feels like they put in 1/8th the work compared to previous titles. The game lacks freedom of choice beyond finding a quest and doing it, previous titles gave you options to have a morale compass of good bad or neutral before 4 but since then it's been a problem that only became bigger in this title. The world feels like it's empty and souless like they finished world building and said whatever to the rest of it and dropped some enemies in and robot vendors. Fallout 76 along with Diablo Immortal show how disconnected game production companies have pushed away the fans in the pursuit of money.

    Verdict;
Go spend your hard earned money on something that isn't full retail early access garbage. Pick up a copy of RDR2, Witcher 3 or hell, if this is your first fallout game go pick up 3 or NV and you'll truly understand how awful of a job Bethesda did.

My answer: no. There wasn't a single positive element of this game that made me go "wow", made me excited, or immersed me completely in the moment. Not one. Onto the review:

Note: None of the mechanical or performace elements are based on the B.E.T.A.
Note 2: it's just my personal experience of the game, this won't include things like the "security" debacle that seems to be full swing (I haven't had any security issues yet)
Note 3: This game may have "Fallout" in it's title, but I won't be comparing it to other Fallout games (except the lore), it's just too different.
So let's break down each element into a summed up review:

Story: There isn't one. There really isn't.

Lore: Butchered. So much in this contradicts previously established lore. You can handle things being retconned if there is a legitimate and justified story/narrative reason for doing so. Bethesda has changed things just so that they can shove enemies, symbols and other things that tickle your nostalgia into the game for zero justifiable reasons. In my personal opinion this is the WORST part of the entire game, because it not only ruins my fun in this game, but potentially ruins my ability to enjoy the previous games because of the changes.

NPC's: There aren't any. There really aren't. You get a couple of robots that aren't utterly lifeless. That's it.

Quests: Every single quest in this game feels like a randomly generated fetch quest. It's that bad.

World/Worldbuilding: Reasonable, I'd give them a point for this if it wasn't completely ruined by the overwhelming feeling of emptiness you experience as you run around. Perhaps if there were more players, like 3-4x as many players per server, things would be better. But that's speculation, and there isn't.

Combat: Mechanically fine, one of the few things that doesn't immediately frustrate you. Not great or revolutionary though, just fine. You will however likely get totally bored with killing the same few enemies hundreds of times over. Made worse by the respawn rate of enemies meaning in the space of half an hour you can clear the same area of the same enemies as many as 5 times. It's clear they tried to fix this by adding the unique bosses/spawns, but it simply doesn't do enough as they are too few and far between.

Ambiance/Environment: good at times. Perhaps the only element of this entire game that you could say was good, and that's only some of the time. Graphical bugs break what little good environment building exists.

Graphics: antiquated in 2015 when Fallout 4 came out, now they're ancient.
-One of my friends has ultra widescreen and there's no support for it at all, meaning the resolution is forced to full still. What does that mean? The whole game is stretched on his monitor making it virtually unplayable.

Performance: terrible. I have an above-average PC and my FPS is terrible, but considering Bethesda limits your FPS to 62.5 Maximum, I'm not missing out on much. I haven't crashed yet, so that's new in a BGS game. Others probably aren't so lucky.

UI/Controls: ported from console, downright unusable at times. Absolutely UNACCEPTABLE. I've been complaining about this for YEARS. There is no excuse for this anymore. Bethesda should be making proper PC HUDs and UIs.
-PIPboy HUD is immersive and totally fine in a singleplayer game. Not at all in a game where you can't pause when it opens. It is too slow to navigate and might lead to you getting killed constantly if the game was even remotely difficult.

Difficulty: Once you get to level 6 or 7, you basically become invincible. Not joking. Just ignore where you're supposed to go, and go kill enemies 3-4x your level. I did. Maybe you can't do this with a controller, but with a mouse and keyboard there is no challenge for me.

PvP/multiplayer: I can't even start talking about this without getting upset and going on a rant. I'll just say this: the worst PvP system I have ever seen in my life.

PvE/multiplayer: The only other redeeming quality of this game. You can pop a few beers and have fun with friends laughing at bugs, terrible writing and other players doing/saying dumb things.

The saving grace of Bethesda games up to this point is the skilled and dedicated Modding community coming in and fixing the deficits of the product. Not only does this game not have real modding capability, but it's not a base game that inspires people to spend hundreds of hours fixing things.

    Plus sides:
+The occasional fun moment with some friends, that wears off in the first couple of hours though.
+The occasional environment or ambient or setting

    Negatives:
    - Just about everything else.

Final Score: 2/10, and that's generous. As much as it saddens me to say this about anything Fallout: just save your money.

Fallout 76 represents a big disappointment and the lowest point of the series so far. Riddled with bugs, repetitive and dull gameplay, nonexistent story and outdated graphics, it fails as a both multiplayer and singleplayer experience for fans and newcomers alike.

Miracles do happen once in a while and No Man’s Sky proved that sometimes it is possible to get back on your feet even after a terrible failure. Right now though Fallout 76 is botched spectacularly on so many levels that even talking about this game is a waste of time. [01/2019, p.46]

An unfinished game with bifurcated identity and in an almost dysfunctional state. It's hard to build on a bad base, that will never change. Like the war. [Issue#292]
