I was awaiting this game, and that despite of all the hate around it. I liked Fallout 4, and i was pretty exciting about a multiplayer version of this game. And i am very disappointed of the result ... I'm not mad against what is the game now, but for what it could have been. There was so many ways to turn Fallout into a really good multiplayer experience, and this one doesn't work.

The main problem of the game is not his bugs (even if this is a shame to release a game full of bugs with the same price of RDR 2 ...), it's his heart.
It's like if bethesda didn't carry his balls and made an unassumed version of their successfull game. This is neither a good MMORPG or a good COOP game, however they try to put the maximum of multiplayer contents in their game like if the quantity took precedence over quality.
This is not how you do Bethesda. You have to make a choice, choose to make a Fallout CO-OP, or a full MMORPG but not a **** mix of the two games.
I really hope they will learn from that and wont do the same mistake anymore. I have been refunded, but i hope they will at least work on the bugs to show a minimum of respect to those who bought the game 60$.

Thank you, now a quick reviews of the good and bad points of the game :

+ Map size, and how it's done
    + Diversity of it
    + C.A.M.P. original idea ...

    - ... but done the wrong way
    - 2010 graphics
    - PVP is horrible
    - SVAR vision , seriously ? (That's basicaly an aimbot in a multiplayer game)
    - Tiny stamina (at least at the beginning)
    - Useless hunger/thirst bars
    - Poverty of the history (if we can call that an history)
    - Some perks are useless (very very useless)
    - No NPC
    - Tons of bugs (including the CAMP reseting if there is another camp near to yours)
    - A lot of things in the world, but soon enough you realize it's pretty empty

I really feel bad about this as i used to love bethesda productions ... But this is a shame. Don't buy it if it costs more than 10$.

Opening the map freezes my computer for 20 seconds.. Sometimes the audio just goes missing and it all comes back to life like the whole 5 minutes compressed in 10 seconds (shat my pants I did),

This game is a technological nightmare! It's an old and outdated engine and I am running the game on a 2017 high-end pc with the last gen i7, a 1080ti and m2 ssd... WHAT THE ACTUAL F(_)CK?!

I don't really understand what the intent was with this game? Like, they did everything they could to bring in elements that the community was actively shouting that they didn't want, all while ignoring taking corrective actions for all the requests the community made from Fallout 4.

Bugs that had been in 4 since launch made their way into 76. When 4 launched, most people were very vocal about their displeasure with NPC interactions being pre-recorded and bland, so in 76 they just took away NPC interactions entirely.

In favor of what? Nothing says immersion like server disconnects and some random a-hole shouting at me over his mic and punching me in the head in the first five minutes of creating my character.

There is just an absolute truckload of bugs and disappointments in this title which the community can't even fix, which is traditionally how all of those problems got fixed.

I LOVE Fallout 3 and NV and even 4 holds a special place in my heart, but this is really quite bad for a multitude of reasons. People are voting it 10s because for some reason they're so brainwashed into the brand they feel the need to defend Bethesda, but I just don't understand how they can't see how obvious of a cash-grab this is?

It's just an enormous disappointment and as a huge fan of the last three it makes me super depressed. It's more of a world I want to play in, presented in a fashion that makes me absolutely hate it.

It's a complete disappointment and cash grab. They threw in the cash shop before even rolling out any fixes. It's early access that will break your wallet. There's a reason the Critic Reviews are silent, cause they know if they tell the truth about how terrible it is they wont get press passes from Betheda anymore. Give it a year and it'll be fixed if it's even still around.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Premise: I'm a 33 years old father of twins. Not an heater nor a kid. I've played all fallout games since the were isometrics and I really loved them. Back in the days when I was a studente at law university, Fallout 3, was my favourite game to play when I've got some spare times (so sad:-)).
I have read a lot about Fallout 76, seen a bunch of Youtube videos about the beta and my eyes couldn't believe how trash this game appeared.
I was litterally shocked how they ruined a perfect formula.
I've prordered the game hoping the final version would be better.
    No way.
Terrible graphics with lot of artifacts and glitches (the engine is really outdated), sometimes it stutters at 2K, with GTX 2080Ti, unaccettable!
    No dialogues.
    No NPC.
The world is really empty! You have nothing to do except going from point A to point B, collect items, killing some monsters. No Plot, no quests, no history.
The multiplayer side is even worse. Empty. Collabo is 0. Only group of bad painted survivors pointing their guns at some monsters.
For me is a no go. If I could score less then 0 I would. Is not for the money (litterally stolen) but for what they did to my beloved FALLOUT.
It is a havoc that should be withdrawn from the market.
    10 hours of play.

Being a big Fallout fan I was willing to give this a go but talk about buyers remorse as this has got to be THE worst Fallout game I have ever played - and that includes that one they released on the PS2.
There are mods for the fallout series better than this as Fallout 76 feels so bloody empty and if you want a walking simulator where you will see the same enemies over and over and over

There are mods for the fallout series better than this as Fallout 76 feels so bloody empty and if you want a walking simulator where you will see the same enemies over and over and over again then give it a shot but as a gamer all I can say is avoid this game - there are plenty of other better titles out at the moment.
I resent the money I have spent on this as Bethesda simply do not deserve it for the shell of a game this is - it is almost like a picture puzzle where someone has just completed the outside edge and then thought `job done` and left the center empty.
Just simply bloody awful and a disservice to the Fallout name.
Do yourself a favour and DO NOT BUY FALLOUT 76.

Recycled assets, an elderly engine, and a mundane plot. I found myself bored, some area's were well designed. Overall I would not recommend. I have 1200 hours in Fallout 4, and I don't think I could put 100 hours into this title. I hope Bethesda can put work into the bugs here, but I will await their next title and leave this one alone after my time with this one.

    - No Ultrawide support on PC
    - The UI is tied to FOV. No slider because of this.
    - Poor servers that frequently disconnect.
    - Progress can be lost easily from server disconnects.
    - Uninspired story, given through lifeless audio logs (which can be several minutes long and cannot be paused)
    - VATs is completely broken and doesn't belong in the game at all, basically just an auto aim system that at best, snaps to enemies and at worst is immersion breaking and breaks the laws of physics to bend bullets.
    - Nonexistent anti-cheat/scripting protection
    - No push to talk, mics always on no matter what
    - Game isn't on Steam so you can't refund it AND you have to use Bethesda's launcher. Disgusting

The list goes on and on, this is just not an acceptable product at all. I love Fallout. This is a miserable excuse of a game. Thankfully, I didn't buy it!

Every time Bethesda releases a game, I'm reminded of how bulletspongey both the pc and enemies are in their game. Thankfully, fixing that is a 1-minute mod in any previous Bethesda title. Here that's impossible (or cheating, take your pick) and everyone feels spongier than ever. I would think the inability to save would add tension to the game, but so often I'd get in a fight with a higher level enemy only to find that they hit like the butterfly that gets picked on at the butterfly gym.

I've never been a "well it's actually a X but I'm giving it a 0 because messages," sort of guy. But while I get that this game has more good about it than Ride to Hell or an asset flip, those games manage to be in fun in a "look how bad this is!" way. I kept waiting to get into a flow with this game, but kept being reminded of how much worse it was than a 3-year old game. All that makes for a gaming experience I regard as one of the worst in my life. If it were a little worse, it would be so bad it's good. Instead, it just sucks. In my book, that's a 0.

This is PvE Rust with a Fallout Skin. Rushed, Unoptimized, but it does look great graphically.

PvP is "Enabled" but you are only punished for it. 'Pacifists' Take 2% of the damage you deal, and every hit generates wanted. Once you have wanted, they deal full damage to you while remaining invulnerable.

I've yet to see anyone but my group of friends in non-pacifist mode. Once you have wanted generated the pacifists can murder you from pacifist mode, dealing full damage to you with actually no risk to themselves.

My party ganked a group of two (The group we ganked was level 10, we three were all level 8), and it actually devolved down to us standing in a triangle around one of them (theres 3 of us) and hitting them with melee weapons for 2 minutes until they finished complaining about how pvp is going to ruin this game, then logged out.

Not including the time we spent ganking them before we realized we actually do no damage, 2 minutes of constant melee damage, from 3 players, and they still just logged out to avoid the pvp (they weren't even in danger of dying). About 10 minutes later we had someone else roll up to assist us with an event, he one tapped one of our players, then returned to the event while me and our other friend who were still wanted attacked him.

He said he was taking very little damage, but neither me nor my other wanted friend even saw his health bar as we attacked him. This too, devolved to us hitting him with melee weapons to conserve ammo as he went about finishing the event. (It was a hold out event where we had to defend against waves of scorched, he took more damage from the scorched than us, but we wouldn't have known that had he not been saying it over voice, we couldn't see his hp bar as we attacked.)

After he finished soloing the event while we hit him, he turned and killed my other friend. And I just walked back to my camp that wasn't very far and logged out. This was a terrible experience, not in the slightest bit enjoyable.
I don't understand why even 'allow' pvp if you're not going to allow pvp. If they wanted this to be a PvE game, why even allow someone to disable pacifist mode?

    - Targeting is difficult, more so than in FO4, and vats is near useless. I tried it several times over the course of 4 hours of play. Ap ran out very quickly and even in Vats.. melee is infuriating. Swing 10 times and it sounds like it hits, but it doesn't.. which eventually results in death or trying to run away. Be sure to close Vats first or you can't run away..
    - Switching weapons mid combat is far more difficult than it should be.
    - There is no real 3rd person view. You will not get a better view of what is around you so, it's first person or... don't play, I guess. Disappointing.
    - Starving to death while you're afk or doing things with perks is kind of garbage.
    - The perk system itself is clunky and underwhelming.
    - My game crashed 3 times in less than 3 hours, and no, my computer is not the problem for that.
    - I had an issue with the game code and the customer service I received was terrible. A copy/paste of something from the help section that i'd already read and didn't help me. Still waiting on their next response. I don't expect to get one.
    - Lack of anything at all for new players who have not played a Fallout game before. I have over 700hrs into FO4 and I was even confused by some things.
    - Menus can be difficult to find.

This game needs another year in development.
I would also suggest different servers for different types of play.
-Casual servers with no starving to death issues.
-Moderate servers for what the game has now
-Hard servers for those people who enjoy a difficult game.
I don't think this would be difficult to do since its already 24 people per server.

On the positive side, I like the crafting system and the idea of public events.

Fallout 76 is the worst thing that could have ever happened to the Fallout franchise.

The story, an essential part of every prior Fallout game, is made completely uninteresting by the fact that instead of a branching, unique story where your actions affect the outcome, you are presented with a static sequence of terminals and holotapes that tell the story of what happened in Appalachia. This is due to the fact that 76 is completely devoid of human npcs, which often in itself spoils the story, because the best thing you could ever find at the end of a quest is a corpse and a holotape. Gone are the days of making interesting decisions and actual roleplaying like in previous Fallouts.

The world, while 4 times as big as Fallout 4s, feels empty. The lack of human npcs also makes raiders impossible, instead you always either fight some weird animal that doesn't do anything or ghouls/scorched (which are basically the same thing, but the scorched sometimes have guns). The enemies simply lack any personality. Also, locations are very far apart, so you have to walk, sometimes for 5 mins and upwards. This may not sound like much, but these minutes add up to multiple hours just spent walking.

The gunplay is absolutely terrible, it has barely improved since Fallout 4. In fact, with the necessary changes to make V.A.T.S. work in real time, the gunplay has gotten worse. V.A.T.S. is simply useless, it is always slower and less reliable than aiming, but aiming is also hard due to the stiff controlls and abrubtly changing animations of the enemies.

Those were just a few of the things that make the game as terrible as it is, there are more thigs, like the disgusting "atomic shop", Bethesda's **** premium currency store for useless cosmetics that should have been free to begin with, but I have neither the time nor the will to list all of Fallout 76's numerous flaws.

I really hope the game utterly fails, because if it doesn't, we'll be seeing more of this **** in the future.

Playing with friends is ok but I'd rather play something else as it loses fun after about 2 hours.

Fan of fallout since 1997, didn't like 4 and this takes everything I didn't like about that game and focuses it.

They had to know this game wasnt the multiplayer they tried to push in the trailer, its all about killing each other and one-uping. This is lipstick on a pig and it needs to be taken to slaughter.

If they put in NPCs and/or made private servers this game could maybe scrape by without leaving as large of a brown streak on their reputation but as it is this is a cheap money grab game and makes me question the direction of Bethesda.

Boring, flat, buggy, empty... so many adjectives to describe the loss of a great license. As a fan of the first two "Fallout", I almost want to cry. It's a tragedy. Such a beautiful license to sacrifice on the altar of laziness, convenience and easy money. A shame, and bad publicity for the video game industry.

I want to like this so bad. I have wanted an online fallout for so long and hope Bethesda bounces back with some major updates to the game but fix all the bugs and update the graphics and its still a lifeless husk of a sandbox with dry story delivery via recordings of people already dead

Game: Advertised as 'rebuilding the wasteland' with you and your friends being the ones driving the stories as the NPCs in a post apocolyptic world.

Delivery: This means there are no NPCs. They want us to be the NPCs but give us absolutely nothing to work with but an empty map devoid of soul. 24 players is nothing on such a large map when you expect them to be taking the place of raiders/traders/interesting NPCs. If they are squads that means youve got 6 small clusters of people who, based on the pattern of in game, probably wont ever attempt to interact with you.

Catering to streamers aside, Bethesda seems to expect those memorable interactions that you might get from an MMORPG community with hundreds online in one consistent world all in their Fallout 76 which is closer to a pickup loop of PUBG where nothing you do matters and the game feels more like "lets go play a few rounds of kill the robots" vs "lets go get lost in the mad max esque apocolyptic world of fallout"

There is just no incentive for co-op or pvp. Absolutely no reason to take up the trader life or stay in any town (and despite everyone hoping there would be some form of vendor you can put stuff up on at the least, we have to resort to having to trade face to face with a clunky UI) On the flip side, theres no way of really being a raider due to how pvp works and the general lack of people, no less people who want to pvp. There are no hubs save for your C.A.M.P. but even that does nothing to add to the feel of the players 'rebuilding' or creating their own towns as it function is more of a temporary item dump/repair location you can throw down.

You will max out the C.A.M.P housing budget on a 2x2 structure with only the bare minimum crafting benches/turrets and if your lucky, around 3 decorative prop items like a grill or small bookcase.

Nobody will ever see any rebuilding because of the budget limit as well as the inability to build near premade structures. Which include towns. So as an "NPC" am i just supposed to stand on some premade raider looking wall and hope to make your game more interesting for someone else?

The stash limit is filled on basic scrap. But you also need scap for repairing anything and base building. You will have room for a few extra guns (or one heavy gun), and the inevitable 'uniqes' that cant be deconstructed. Also some backup water.

Combine the fact that you have no base building budget beyond the required and your stash is filled by lvl 20, the incentive to 'rebuild' goes away very fast. Or rather you have experienced all the rebuilding that can be done.

Add to that that your base is stored when you log off and theres nothing to stop anyone else from building in that area (thus preventing you from building nearby). Or the fact that there is no permanence or meaning for a C.A.M.P beyond ones individual need for a quick loot drop/repair spot to throw down as needed.

There is a solid chance you will lose random chunks of structures and benches when the game stores your base however. And you probably wont get it all set out how you had it. Especially due to anything not part of the main structure being stored individually.

Nearly all pvp = one side quitting the world just before/after they die and world hopping for a server with people who actually want to pvp. Again, we are supposed to replace raiders? There are more raider corpses in one camp than all the players on the map and even if we had a group going, that still requires everyone else on the server to play along and somehow happening to be close to each other and not just quitting to another world when they get shot at which is primarily what seems to be happening.

Srsly. I can have a pvp workshop claimed with a bounty, leave to make some food. probably take a shower and run some errands, come back and find not one of those handfulls of player had come even remotely to my vicinity.

What is even the point of scavenging or taking pvp workshops when our stash / inventory is full and our base budget is capped anyway? Kill robots for more lead so i can craft bullets to kill more robots?

So. What now? my stash is full and House budget is maxed out on crafting tables and 5 turrets. i cant really build anything that would be neat for other players to interact with or see, but theres also no real reason to explore. i have the gun i want, everyones dead, everything is done. Ive also got enough food and water by my base that nobody will ever see, despite it being in the open across street from a town and robot vendor.

A crashgrab from an out of touch business or an overzealous render ghost, Bethesda has certainly fallen far

It is impossible to take the world in Fallout 76 seriously when almost every character you hear or read about in the game is female and it is so obvious how they are trying to push the "strong womanz" agenda. There is even a sort of super hero underground "batman" base with super skilled women "super heroes" who appraently can kill 100 of raiders on their own. Just now reading in one database in the game about some guy named Freddy who is a real badass and miss his girl. Oh wait, no wait, "his" name was actually Freddie and it was a girl and it was her girlfriend she was talking about. The whole game is filled with this.

There is no wonder that Bethesda has started to fall from their grace in the quality of their games falter when they concentrate more on hiring for "diversity" instad of competence and it show right through in their games now (Just like what happened with Bioware and Mass Effect). It is no wonder their "throne" is being overtaken by companies like CD Project RED that actually has some integrity with their games and try to focus on making quality products instead of pushing some pathetic political agenda.

The second reason this game gets a zero is that there is absolutely no point in having this game online, and it is likewise as obvious it is only done because they hope to be able to get more money that way. Having this game online just annoying when their servers crash, you get lag and there are other annoying players nearby who just distract. I even disconnect sometimes when entering a new area where there are other players to see if I can reconnect where there are no players around. There is absolutely no reason this game should not have an "offline" mode, besides because of the $$$.

I point this out only to highlight that the performance of the game will not be the scapegoat of why this "game" (let's be real, there is no game here) is so terrible. It is utterly boring and aimless. I won't cover all of the reasons why it is so bad, just watch Jim Sterlings impressions.

Instead, allow me to give you some context. Firstly, I have played and beaten Fallout 4 and all DLC, with a modest 85 hour playtime (no where near what some might sink in), but it is fair to say I enjoyed it in spite of its many flaws. I also love survival games as a genre, with Subnautica being one of my all time favourites. And feel free to check my profile, this is the lowest score I have ever given a game, as I genuinely feel it deserves this rating. I am a fair and positive reviewer, and it is sad to say that I really think this "AAA" game has been fairly and generously rated by me.

I don't usually post reviews so close to a games release, and I certainly don't usually give negative reviews. But, this review is warranted, this is not a gut-reaction to "Change", that a lot of games get unfairly criticised for. I was really excited for the survival aspects and base building aspects of this game. But they have truly misunderstood what makes those games fun and rewarding.

At least Bethesda listened to our complaints... but for the entirely wrong reasons, as the most innovative way they've addressed the criticism of Fallout 4's dumbed down dialogue and forgettable storyline was by removing both of those aspects altogether and replacing them with a half-arsed PvP system to "compensate". Sure, the game may be OCCASIONALLY fun to play with other players online goofing around the wasteland, wherein despite the gameplay's shortcomings at least there is virtual socialization... but that's where the fun ends. If you're playing it offline, you're up for a colossal disappointment. No friendly NPCs (except completely redundant robot vendors) means shooting literally everything that moves. Generic fetch-quests offer absolutely no replay value what-so-ever. Even gathering never-ending loot around the world for your C.A.M.P is bound to bore you to death. Everything is grounded within an obsolescent engine desperately kept on life support. The engine still inherits the same old archaic features that already became more apparent since Oblivion, such as game speed tied to a framerate and game-breaking glitches caused by manipulating the FoV with the only way to fix such problems is locking the two - even though this can often create performance issues on certain hardware (perhaps redundant considering how Creation Engine, a.k.a Gamebryo 2.0 is already horribly optimized for modern CPUs and Graphics Cards) - but forget the age of this engine because the fact that it was never suitable for online games to begin with is a real kicker; bugs that run amok and are still not fixed despite the alleged beta-testing prior to release is something I really don't need to mention. Visually, FO76 may be a step-up from Fallout 4, since at least the light is fully dynamic, post-processing effects are actually doing something, the godrays don't look like a milk shower and some texture-work is actually respectable but overall it's nowhere near fantastic for this generation.

But my real issue doesn't lie in game's quality or handling. It's the same issue I've had since Fallout 4 and that's the bastardization of the Fallout insignia. The series has long been deprived of its spirit and Fallout series is an empty husk of what it once was. You can call me an entiled nostalfeg all you want but even if I were to ignore Fallout in the game's title I still can't ignore that 60 dollars for a game so mediocre is way too much, considering that there exist online survival games which are much cheaper, much better... and most importantly devoid of technical issues that Fallout 76 is plagued by, so they have abolutely no excuse not to fix their games (modding community won't get them out of it this time anyway, it's an online game).

i do really love survival fps games, I've spent over 300+hrs on games such as rust/7days and other similar games but fallout 76 is a TERRIBLE survival game. I've also really wanted to play fallout 4 as a multilayer, the idea of running around a fallout universe with a friend or as a solo player with having a random player either giving me a helping hand or just being a complete nobhole.i do really love survival fps games, I've spent over 300+hrs on games such as rust/7days and other similar games but fallout 76 is a TERRIBLE survival game. its easy to see that they've just used every asset from fallout 4/3 and even skyrim, its full of game breaking bugs (nothing new from Bethesda but when its online its really important to be in a good working order.)

a survival game without any really thought on how to really survive this world, I've pretty much built my house in a middle of forest with a bunch of looted pencils and clipboards. I cant run around punching trees or chop them down with an axe but i can loot 8 pencils and build a platform for my house.

The empty world is really plain and there's **** all to do, you'll run around for hours and auto given random stupid quests.

a super super stupid PVP system, you can see EVERY person on the map, you can see there name tag when their close by. how is that a good PVP system when you cant hide or stealth around the map when its beyond easy to pick and hunt a player down ?

4/10, find it cheap on a key site or wait until we have more content released ?

For my opinion this isn't a fallout game
NO RPG NO NPC NO STORY

this game is only a DLC
this game is simply a fallout version mixed with call of duty, just for the sake of shooting something, without any stimulation, no story, no multiple choice dialogs, no hard decisions, no ending to remember

I don't know how one can accurately describe the state of the game. Calling it a beta is an insult to betas. This is a 100% unfinished game from all aspects.
    -Awful graphics
    -Awful UI
    -Awful quests
    -Awful gameplay
    -Awful enemy AI

I think it's safe to say, Bethesda has a reputation for releasing buggy titles.

Now imagine Fallout 4, after all the patches and the community fixes. It was very playable and enjoyable in the end. Fallout 76 has none of that. Now imagine Fallout 4, after all the patches and the community fixes. It was very playable and enjoyable in the end.

Fallout 76 has none of that.

Fallout 76 is Fallout 4 with a poorly designed online mod. Lots of new content, sure, but nothing - and I do mean nothing in way of all the new required game mechanics for an online world actually works as intended.

Been playing it with my wife since launch. I currently have time to sit down and write this review, because yesterday I found myself wanting to log in, but all my characters were gone and Bethesda "support" - after having gone through scripted AI bot responses - have so far taken over 24 hours to produce any kind of real response to my ticket. Anyway, here's just some of the bugs we've observed.

    - Teaming up before joining a server is broken. You enter the same server, sure, but end up unteamed. Only the system still believes you're in a team somewhat, since you cannot reinvite. You can only Kick team members. But your team doesn't show up on your map, you can damage eachother (bounty and all). So basically you have to both log in (to different servers) - "Join" the other player, "Invite to team" once joined. And NOW you're good to go.

    - Voice chat is "Always on". No PTT option. All you can do is disable chat entirely (there is no text chat). I don't even know where to begin with this one.

    - The CAMP (base building) system - worked so well for Fallout 4. It's the same system - but no one seemed to give much thought as to, how that would work in an online world of limited space. It doesn't.

    - They've artificially tried to make the game more of a "survival experience". So no vendors to speak of, and the few that are there will for instance NOT accept trade in the most commonly required resource by anyone in the game: ammunition. No, no, sell me your mentats, your dirty magazines, that burnt fedora you just found. Actual valuable scrap, ammunition, building plans... "Nah. Not having it".

    - Half the time, people on your team will appear running around in nothing but their undies.

    - 3 main quest lines have show stopping bugs in them. For example, one requires you to kill a certain character. And someone always does. But guess what; it's an online game. And once the character is dead, he stays dead for the duration of the server.

    - Many perk cards (the new perk system) don't do what they say. And can I just add; the UI for levelling up SPECIAL and Perks is beyond redemption. It simply needs to change - ENTIRELY.

    - The microtransaction store. I don't mind that it's there (at least there are no loot boxes), but there's nothing there anyone would want. And what IS there, is grossly overpriced. $15 for a costume? Seriously? Take a lesson from ESO, and put some stuff in there that people would actually want to pay for.

    - PVP - what little I've seen of it - is completely broken. As expected. You can turn on "pacifist" which - get this - now blocks you from damaging another player entirely, no matter the circumstances. Make that gank a little easier. On PVP; there aren't many problems currently with griefing. Everyone is busy levelling, getting set up, etc. But just you wait.

    - And then the system issues. You'll find hundreds if not thousands of reports of servers crashing (which makes you drop your collected junk materials on the ground - on the server that just crashed), people getting random disconnects (often, same result) and so on.

Save yourself the grief. Stay away.

I'll get back to kindling my support ticket now. They time out you know, if there is no activity in a certain timeframe. And Bethesda support... well it takes a while. A long while.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Long time fallout fan, drawn in with three so some might call me a newcomer but id say having experienced every iteration of fallout to have taken place in this engine allows me to confidently say this is the least stable.

i have roughly 20 hours logged and i have to say that every quest feels like an uninspired slog from point a to point b and back for a little more ammo and some xp. weapon mods give you a reason to keep looting but you reach a point where you no longer have anywhere to store loot, even after trying to sell off some stuff.

The camp system is a relatively decent port of the settlements from fallout 4 but you're prevented from doing anything really interesting or fun with it by build size limits and the inability to build near existing locations.

Player interaction is a joke, trade is nonexistent with other players and next to pointless with robots as most items are worth literally nothing, PVP should have been left out as the way it's implemented means if you don't want to interact with PVP you don't have to and can just leave the server or move on without taking any meaningful damage.

Level locking weapons seems like an unnecessary way to keep powerful weapons out of the hands of low level players and personally resulted in my inability to use the first gun i came across.

Notable glitches that happened in the hour preceding this review alone, crashes, server disconnects, a glitch in a quest where you drop quest items from your inventory and the game decided to register all of my .308 ammo as a quest item before causing it to disappear into the void never to return, a supply drop was spawned inside of a boarded up building, enemies both t posing and having severed appendages reattached with long strands of flesh.

Enemies are probably the worst part of this game because with no interesting NPCs to occupy your time one would expect enemies to pick up the slack, i have never felt threatened by an enemy in this game, my first death (and second) were the result of trying to participate in an event that i was unknowingly about 30 levels under leveled for, literally every other enemy i have encountered has been laughably easy to dispatch and frequently when fighting a band of enemies of mixed level the highest level enemy seems to somehow be the easiest to kill, also the vast majority of the time scorched and ghouls are the only enemies you seem to encounter while wandering, and while scorched seem to be the replacement for raiders it seems game breaking to find spawned in and lootable raider corpses out in the world.

If the narrative that the vault residents are the first to set foot in Appalachia since the nukes fell, then how did raiders get here. I'll not even mention the fact that logistically there is no way the brotherhood of steel should exist in this game because delving down that road may result in an aneurysm.

All in all i got about what i expected from this game the only reason i didn't give it a 0 is that some people put together this world, and it does look good, granted it also looks like it was made six years ago because Bethesda refuses to acknowledge that time passes, which might be why the state of buildings in this game is roughly the same as the buildings in fallout 4, or maybe that's because Bethesda just wanted to recycle as much as they could from fallout four to minimize the effort they would have to expend on this game.

This is probably ten times longer than the average review of this game but i felt providing context for the hate this game is receiving was important, because people aren't just hating on this game because of the bandwagon effect, there are reasons to genuinely despise what Bethesda has done to our beloved franchise in this installment, and while some people might enjoy this regardless of what it is those voices cannot be given the same credence, someone who gives this game a 10 is just trying to offset the vast majority giving it a 0, now whether it deserves a 0 is up for debate but inflating your score to offset the average is just slimy, to anyone still reading this novel, know that this game is not bad because it exists, its bad because it wasn't given the effort it needed to live up to its potential.

The game is content lacking and mechanically broken, your main role in this game is to collect "Junk", which is then punished by the game's limited character inventory and stash size.

NPC interaction was fun in prior games, especially New Vegas, but it doesn't exist here. If I weren't a Fallout fan, I'd see no reason to play this. And banking on nostalgia just isn't enough to keep even a fanboy interested for very long.

I got this game on sale for $40 and still feel ripped off. I went in with ridiculously low expectations, and was still pretty disappointing. The world feels so empty without NPC's, PVP is horrible (really just add PVP and PVE servers...), and the game is really, really buggy. Stop giving Bethesda a free pass, spend your money elsewhere.

Also, sorry to anyone who purchased the game at full price

If you love the Fallout series, avoid this game. This is Fallout 4 with its heart ripped out. No NPC's means no story. Ignore what the sheep try to tell you, a bunch of terminals and holotapes does not a story make. Collecting useless crap while you fight the same boring enemies who respawn ad nauseam does not a Fallout make. Avoid this abomination like the plague.

This game is way to restrictive and lacking of content to be a Bethesda game. This is no real main story or purpose to the game but just to grind. Once you traveled around the map you pretty much have seen all there is to offer with only a few exceptions. Not only is it overpriced at $60, the games micro-transactions were up and running before they even fixed most of the bugs that were reported in the B.E.T.A. Pass on this game and maybe pick it up when it's on sale if you have someone to play it with. It was not designed for, or even balanced playing for playing solo even though Pete H. insisted that it was.

In summary, probably not the game you are wanting it to be, more bugs than previous Bethesda games, severely under preforms in combat, UI and AI when compared to other AAA titles. but decent enough to pass the time if you have someone to play it with or when you are waiting for something else to come out.

Dumpster fire. Maybe after this game becomes your worst commercial failure in the company's history you'll realize that you shouldn't wipe your ass with the people who have been paying for your livelyhood the past 20 years.

Fallout 76 represents a big disappointment and the lowest point of the series so far. Riddled with bugs, repetitive and dull gameplay, nonexistent story and outdated graphics, it fails as a both multiplayer and singleplayer experience for fans and newcomers alike.

Miracles do happen once in a while and No Man’s Sky proved that sometimes it is possible to get back on your feet even after a terrible failure. Right now though Fallout 76 is botched spectacularly on so many levels that even talking about this game is a waste of time. [01/2019, p.46]

An unfinished game with bifurcated identity and in an almost dysfunctional state. It's hard to build on a bad base, that will never change. Like the war. [Issue#292]
