    I was held at gunpoint by Todd Howard to purchase a copy of this game, Fallout 4, and Skyrim ( I already owned Skyrim so I don't know what to do with this extra copy) and leave a 10 out of 10 review on Metacritic. Somebody stop this man, he has become a tyrant of irredeemable proportions.     Great game. Not sure why all the hate, it's the same as any first launched Bethesda game, needs some time to bake. That said, I'm having a blast playing with my friends!

    As a lover of the franchise I had to create an account here in Metacritic just to write the following lines:

    Bethesda does care for its costumers. I gave this installment a chance and after playing many hours, I have to say: this game is a blast. Since some guy asked: "What is Fallout without the factions fighting for power, heartbreaking stories and awesome companions?" An awesome    As a lover of the franchise I had to create an account here in Metacritic just to write the following lines:

    Bethesda does care for its costumers. I gave this installment a chance and after playing many hours, I have to say: this game is a blast.

    Since some guy asked: "What is Fallout without the factions fighting for power, heartbreaking stories and awesome companions?"
    An awesome game for exploration, designed to be played with friends or to encounter strangers. Because real humans are 10x better than boring NPCs.

    To continue the "review" (from a guy who has apparently NOT played the game):
    "The game strongest point - its combat system - is unresponsive and laggy. Meelee build is just impossible or not worthy."
    This game was never sold as a shooter, nor is this the games only strong point. Melee build is very strong, so apparently you never played the game or are veeeery bad at it.

    "God forgive me for paying this sick joke of a Fallout 4 multiplayer mod the price of a full retail game. Costumers, speak with your wallets. Collapse"
    Feel the hate! God, what pityfui creatures Bethesda fans are.

    Buy the game, if you want a mild online suvival game, with a strong focus on exploration, collection and a narrative world. Yes there are NPCs, yes there is a story, yes there are factions you can join and yes, there is a lot you can do in this game. Im currently clocking at around 50h and have not even seen 50% of the game.    … Expand

    The people giving this game 0/10 probably don't even own the game and are just mad that Bethesda is taking a new approach to a beloved franchise. Every single game that shakes up the formula is criticized for years before it becomes a "gem". Even your beloved New Vegas was put through scrutiny and now people are begging for it. I guarantee you that in the future when Bethesda puts out aThe people giving this game 0/10 probably don't even own the game and are just mad that Bethesda is taking a new approach to a beloved franchise.     I'm keeping this short and concise, it's only fun with *enthusiastic* friends, otherwise you won't play it. Even after the map is completely explored its still entertaining to complete the missions and design your camp. I've had this game for about a week now (as of November 23) and I can't stop playing. 10/10 best game of 2018.

I regret ever bashing Bethesda for this game! I have had nothing but great times and now that I know wtf I'm doing and playing with friends everyday this game is on another level and we all just didn't see it! but now I see it, I see the amazing item complexity's and crafting builds in retrospect to the amazing perk card system that allows you to swap loadouts on perks. just wish there was a way to save loadouts and swap them without doing it manually. I see the massive amounts of level depth and planning the first time I took posiden energy plant with a full squad and now every time I catch the cute easter eggs hidden in inanimate objects, graffiti, termanals, and blood scrawled notes on the corpse of dead raider joe, Yes this game is buggy as hell, Yes I have 400+ triple A titles in my steam library, but you know what. I wake up I want to play fallout 76 and discover more loot, I want to burn more, I want to be more efficient at learning great spots for those springs and gears, where the red apocalyptic fern grows and a mini-nuke down to 1.5 pounds with the bear arms perk launching 489 dps in a catastrophic mushroom cloud of death at any who dare appose me until I run out of rounds and my weapons break and I'm flailing on the ground save me save me to my team who are equally as frantic as hoards of scorched slam us from every direction while the blinding breath of the scorchbeast queen pulverizes my t60 power armor to dust! im 100 hours in and I still have not walked half the map or even stated the quest lines I'm not joking!! I did my first 5 quest tonight and they were very well done. Sure this is not a game for Tom Cruise. But this is one of the best games ive played in a long time and I really wish it had a better launch, people were way to quick to judge just like I was by some fluke I kept playing and I think its one of the best things that ever happened. Sorry for my poor grammar and the long rant of a review but I feel this game will have a spot in history as the game that surprised the world when it picks up steam in reviews again. and it will just look at ESO same story not as great a game but it fleshed out to be a really good MMO, Cheers to all you still trending the wasteland at least you know what I know… Expand

    Fun times with Friends!

    -Sure this game has bugs but they are still being fixed.
    -Great Exploration: a lot of different weapons, enemies and a huuuuge map
    -good story and side quests (although there are no npcs)

    I have thousands of hours of playtime in Fallout 3, New Vegas, and 4. I have played 76 on PC since Beta. I have encountered no game breaking bugs or any bugs that have detracted from the game. I also have thousands of hours in 7dtd, Ark, and Minecraft. 76 has all the best bits from those titles in a fallout themed world. All the salt from these whiners just goes to show the generalI have thousands of hours of playtime in Fallout 3, New Vegas, and 4. I have played 76 on PC since Beta. I have encountered no game breaking bugs or any bugs that have detracted from the game. I also have thousands of hours in 7dtd, Ark, and Minecraft. 76 has all the best bits from those titles in a fallout themed world.     this is honestly the best fallout game every made. every fallout before 3 had terrible graphics and sucked super bad and fallout 3-4 had too many npcs and things to do. fallout 76 is the best bcuz all u have to do is play with ur gamer bros and shoot bad guys. epic wn

    I do not understand who shreds this game, I find it absolutely valid. I'm having fun playing it, the world to explore is the best of the fallout series. I'm sorry for those who give low marks just to comply with the mass. There are problems in the game, but they are not so serious as to prevent players from having fun.

    This game is very fun and addictive, if you like games like mmorps (WoW, ESO) farming and building in fallout 4, or survival single player games then you should be happy with this game. There's some ... many.. glitch/bugs yes, but if you played a lot of mmorpg you won't see any difference, glitch are commun in online games. Online games are like that.

    For me, this game worth 8/10 because of the bugs.

    But of course, if you are looking for Fallout 5 or Skyrim, this is not what you are looking for.    … Expand

    All I hear when reading these reviews is "he wasn't ready!" Lol. This game is awesome! You can't get bored playing this! I stay up so late even tho I have work playing this game. I love it love it love it! Great buy, these people leaving reviews where not ready for a wasteland survival. Time to put your big boy panties on guys, strap up cuz im comin for ya.

    it is fun and entertaining but very bugy but that is going to be fixed soon.
    in its current state, its a lite poor and empty but more content is going to be added I hope
    don't listen to the ones with 0 or 1 they are just review bombs and they have probably not even played the game

    Playing fallout games since the 2D ones, great fan of the series. Nowadays enjoying survival games more and more and I was really scared that this game was gonna be an ARK with Fallout skin and thank god It is not. Right now it is my new "surprise of the year".

    The game is not fallout 5 or even without bugs, but It is something new, not the depth of fallout 4 (Because it would not work    Playing fallout games since the 2D ones, great fan of the series.     The hate for this game is largely built on people having short memory on how bad previous titles were at launch. It has proven how good Bethesda is at making games and how vitriolic grown adults can get about video games though, which is impressive.

    Не могу оторваться от игры уже почти две недели. Мне искренне непонятно, что игрокам не нравится. Ощущение, что просто зажрались. Я прошел все части серии. И от каждой получил огромное удовольствие, включая Fallout 4. Конечно лучшей частью игры я все равно считаю New Vegas.
    Fallout 76 воспринимается иначе, присутствует особая атмосфера постъядерного мира, по первым ощущениям совсем непохожая на другие части серии. На данный момент 65 уровень. Исследовано много локаций, но далеко еще не все. Осталась уйма контента. Пройдены цепочки квестов Анклава и Братства стали. Те кто пишут, что с лором что-то не так, определенно его не знают, где-то что-то слышали, а потом с пеной из рта пытаются доказать, что не по лору. Более того, многие моменты из прошлых частей игры проясняются. Мои впечатления от игры только положительные, да баги есть, но я уверен их поправят, да и они на мой взгляд незначительные, особенно если сравнивать с прошлыми частями серии xD, и на общее впечатление от игры они не слишком влияют. Вообще о такой игре я мог только мечтать. Кооператив в постапокалиптическом мире с элементами ролевой игры. Вы только вдумайтесь.
    Я крайне рекомендую всем любителям серии поиграть чуть больше ( из тех кто купил), не набивать просмотры кликбейтным заголовкам на ютубе и стримах (Тодд Говард сливает серию и все такое). Имейте свою голову на плечах. Геймплей потрясный, играть интересно, квесты крутые. Я крайне рекомендую игру к покупке. Я теперь ее фанат и поэтому просто не могу смотреть на то, как ее пытаются очернить.

    It is actually my favourite game from bethesda, ever - I never had so much fun from any of their games, and I played most of them.
    It is EXTREMELY underrated!
    10/10, It is amazing to explore, run into other survivors, roleplay, create factions and survive!

    Absolutely amazing attempt for their first time. People dumping on this game your typical spoiled children that didn't get their way. In the history of online video games none have gone live without unpredictable bugs. This being said Bethesda has proven weekly that they are taking feedback and working hard to fix issues.

    This game doesn't pretend to be the same kind of RPG that Fallout New Vegas is. Realistically and 8 out of 10 after overcoming what you need to enjoy the game. People are not realistically reviewing and should be counter-balanced. This game is superior to Fallout 4 and very fun. If you like shooting hoards of monsters, basebuilding, survival, upgrading everything, and meeting people,This game doesn't pretend to be the same kind of RPG that Fallout New Vegas is.     Конечно я согласен в том что не это не fallout 2 и игра не потянет на 500 часов геймплея но идея вполне годная. КвЭсты есть, задания есть, каждое здание на карте с какой-то историей.
    Что касается воплей про баги, ну да баги попадаются но критичного ничего не встречал, скорее всего вопли про баги в бЭта тесте но на    Очень неплохая игра, начитавшись отзывов ожидал какого-то ужаса, но нет.

    If you read this you probably allready know the entire Fallout 76 problematic. The game is not half as bad as the disapointed haters and the clickbaiting youtubers claim to be. As the most Sandbox/PvP Games, the average gamer doesnt like them, because they dont get what these games are about. Quests? Stupid NPC? who cares? This is a MMO PVP Game. You are the "NPC" and more important YOUIf you read this you probably allready know the entire Fallout 76 problematic. The game is not half as bad as the disapointed haters and the clickbaiting youtubers claim to be. As the most Sandbox/PvP Games, the average gamer doesnt like them, because they dont get what these games are about. Quests? Stupid NPC? who cares? This is a MMO PVP Game.     Perfect game. Although it contains several bugs, the game experience improves after a few hours.
    Currently, I have played about 150 hours and I still want to continue.
    I want Bethesda to make it hard and further development has been just better.
    People slander this game without giving it a chance, spreading lies and half-truth.

    Graphic is actually pretty good, and I didn't have that many slowdowns (despite using an R9 380 which is the minimum requirement or even less)
    The PvP system in this game is a good compromise (but some bugs do bug me), and the party    Fallout 76 is a rare kind of multiplayer game with an interesting story. The exploration of the Appalachia never felt boring (despite what people say).

    The PvP system in this game is a good compromise (but some bugs do bug me), and the party system may not work at times (forming parties before).
    The game is good, but attracted UNNECESSARY hate. And yes, the game is bugged, like most Bethesdas game, but do resist do to some modding despite the online status of it.
    There aren't THAT many bugs (heck even less than the average bethesda game) but the game is bugged.
    This game deserves a 7/10 ( or even a 76/100) , but the serious spam ( metacritic should try to introduce filters in such games ) make me give this game an 10.    … Expand

    Fallout 76 is my favorite in the series and I've played every one of them. I get to live my anarcho-capitalist dreams with my friends. It's awesome!

    I've had a great time playing this game and i still am. It is not as bad as people say it is. And i didn't play with friends a third of the time i've played it and it was still fun.

    Great game. Full of content, tons of players to team up with at any time, tons of lore and dialog, enriched story, and hours on hours of faction missions. Amazing Fallout MMO that finally came to be and is getting better by the day. 110 hours in and I have yet to even scratch the surface of what the current content has to offer.

I love just running around with friends and family. It has bugs yes. But they do not really ruin it for me at all.     I played fallout 76 right now and i can tell you that the game right now is much more worth it, most of its bugs and glitches were fixed compared to when it launched and its pvp mode is super fun too, the battle and its rewards are also free and not pay, trust me the game right now is mucho more worth it

    I really dont understand why people hates this game how they hate, i have 190hr+ of gameplay and still loving this game, the open world really envolves you with a lot of details and places to explore and get items or kill beasts and things like that, bethesda still doing updates every week fixing bugs and server problems and improving/adding things to the game every time so lets play it!

    For whatever the reason is for all the negatives for this game, it’s beautifully designed, the weather systems seem dynamic and constantly changing, so the game world might look all grey and dull but on other days, bright and full of color.

    When you leave the vault, you are dumped into a mystery, you see signs of life but only dead bodies remain, and you soon come to realize that something else has recently happened to change what was already a world in a mess to become an even bigger graveyard.

    The story unfolds before you in many ways, a lot via diaries found on terminals but a lot are found scattered around the map, a skeleton of a woman found slumped over her pram, while surrounded by bodies of dogs, many of these set scenes are chilling, while some are damn right funny.

    If you are expecting a coop version of Fallout 4, this isn’t it, if you wish to explore a fallout world with other players, then Fallout 76 is for you, you can complete it with friends or solo it all the way to the end.

    My favorite part of the game is the base building, it allows you to claim a small part of the map as your home, to build the type of home your fallout survivor would love to build.

    Just see for yourself, if you loved the other fallout worlds, you should love this, and don’t fret over the fallout lore too much, there are reasons for most of it if not all.

    although this game was not at all impressive upon release, it has improved drastically and I'm looking forward to future updates such as the legendary vendor, I'm writing this on the 14/5/2019 so its had time to improve. I would still have given this game a 6 out of 10 upon release as I made it to level 50 within 2 weeks and I had so much fun with my friends.     This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This game is simply amazingly beautiful, it is incredibly well designed. There are many reviews from people that simply do not enjoy Fallout 76. I am well of those people that not only enjoy Fallout 76 but absolutely love it.

    When I play, I'm transported in time, all the NPCs are dead and I feel seriously alone. It's a dreadful feeling but somehow a beautiful feeling. What remains of this bomb shattered world are the monsters that remain, the confused robots and other players trying to murder you. It's a work of art. The NPCs are dead, long ago! Bombs, mutants and disease wiped them out. All that's left is the residents of all the vaults that are scavenging around trying to kill each other.

    As for bugs, crashes, bad UI, fetch missions it's nonsense, all a load of nonsense conjured up by hardcore previous Fallout gamers. Well, I haven't played the previous Fallout games and I hate it when people expect a game to be more or less like the previous game before it.

    I'm level 25, the quests that I've encountered has sent me half way across the map to cook up some moonshine that resorted in my trying to find a hidden entrance and battling terrifying giant scorpions trying to chop me in half.

    There is no story, you make your own story. Read the diaries, notes and terminals of those left behind. They will reveal treasure or send you on grand adventures. Befriend a robot and find out what happened to a missing boy taken from a water park (I ended up being in the tunnel of a dam being eaten by a horde radroaches!)

    I've seriously not encountered any bugs of any kind, I do get the occasional lag spikes that last for a second. Sometimes the monsters do get a bit glitchy but that's it.

    As for base building, armor creation/weapon creation & modification. Never in my life have a played such a game that allows a player to customize their items so much. I found a rifle when I was level 5, it had a wooden stock and it looked awful. Now I'm level 25 and it has a Recon scope, a long barrel and an epic looking stock! It's my favorite weapon and I'll keep it forever. (You get attached to your gear)

    Seriously, stop reading the reviews, this isn't a game riddled with bugs, fetch missions, micro-transactions and it seriously isn't dull. Get the game, enjoy it and play it. Hate the haters, this game is the best!    … Expand

    I really enjoy bugs in games so I had so much fun, I really had a blast, maybe its because I was a beta tester for 2 years this game was like a release to me, yet I was not sure if the price was totaly worth it until I saw a NUKE omg you guys did such an amazing work on nukes made my money worth !!!

    Now they really improved and gave an outlook to even more fun things to come in the future. My favourite game currently. Well done Bethesda.

    Fallout 76 may have a few bugs and it’s annoying when there is some server lag but even with all of that it is a very immersive and large world in fallout lore and story telling to explore. I love reading the terminals and notes and just playing the game in general. It is a little weird with no human npcs but with the e3 announcement I’m very excited!

    Fallout 76 is the kind of game where you get out what you put in. The great thing is, you can put that effort into so many different options and play styles. Want to be a housebuilder? Build a house! Want to run around helping new players (as many people do)? Go for it! Now, with the addition of Battle Royale, and an upcoming new main quest featuring NPCs, is the time to check the game out!

It was easy to see the game wasn't quite perfect when it came out, but because of the online nature of the game, it is getting consistent updates, fun new quests, regular bug fixes, and a lot more things that other Bethesda titles rarely see!

    Don't jump on the hate bandwagon, give it a try for yourself! I've been playing since Fallout 3, and this feels like a natural progression in the series. People are also griping about micro-transactions for some reason? I really don't get it. The currency used to buy the extra COSMETIC items can be earned very easily in game. None of it gives you a combat advantage or changes anything but the appearance of the game (There are repair kits, but this is honestly just a quality of life thing, and it won't affect a firefight at all).

    If you even liked fallout 4 remotely, it's a worthwhile purchase. It has crafting, building settlements, legendary weapons, scaling mobs, and hundreds of Easter eggs that really make these games worth playing.    … Expand

    The game has improved a lot since launch. It has less bugs and more fun quests. The new battle royale mode is also a fine addition. It's already quite polished and balanced even tho it's not even finished yet. And the game will only improve over time.

    Although I was told by numerous peo0le how bad this game was, I decided to download it on their Free Trial week. I immediately bought it the day after. The new Nuclear Winter mode is incredibly fun and something completely different. Survival is the same old Fallout you'd expect, but even better. Buy this game. You will not regret it.

    Been playing faithfully since the beta. It had its rough patches in the beginning, and was off to a rocky start. However, Bethesda has stuck behind this game and continues to support, update, and improve. The player base is super helpful and the community is great, I'll definitely be playing this game for years to come, and you should definitely give it a try.

    Most servers are full and the players are very helpful.

    First: "There is no story."

    One of the most common complaints I heard early on was "there is no story". The game has multiple quest lines that give you an inside look into the rise, life, and fall of each of the worlds major factions; Responders, Free States, Brotherhood of Steel, Raiders (and the various factions within), Enclave, etc. Each quest line introduces characters and events that often cross over with the others. The story is told slowly. As you explore the wasteland, you come across abandoned settlements, ruined bunkers, collapsed houses and buildings, booby-traps, a wide variety of mutated wildlife, demented humanoid mutants, friendly and hostile robots, and corpses. Some people don't like that the only friendly NPCs are robots, with the exception of a couple of shop keepers (a Super Mutant and a Mole Miner). Personally, I don't find the robots to be much different from "human" NPCs. Either way, they aren't actually human.

    Second: "The game doesn't work"

    As far as performance and stability, I was a B.E.T.A. tester who pre-ordered. Since launch, Bethesda has released regular updates and frequent hot fix patches to address the issues their community reports to them. I have found very few companies that provide the quick response to issues like Bethesda. They even worked over the Christmas week, and most of the "news" online that reported on the inventory hack came out AFTER the exploit was already locked down. Through regular updates, Bethesda has made the game pretty stable. 76 crashes less for me than Fallout 4 and New Vegas do through Steam.

    Third: "It's a cash grab scam."

    I pre-ordered Fallout 76 for $60, was a B.E.T.A. tester, and have over 1000 hours on record playing Fallout 76, across 5 unique characters. I've spent less than $0.08 USD for each hour that I've enjoyed playing Fallout 76 (including a full year subscription to Fallout 1st). There is plenty to do in Fallout 76 to justify the cost, and I've seen it as low as $30 today.

    There is no mandatory per month fee to keep playing (something I hate about many other MMORPGs). There is nothing in the game that you cannot unlock without spending any more money after buying. The premium currency (Atoms) can be earned by completing daily and weekly quests. The monthly subscription for Fallout 1st does guarantee you an on-demand private server, plus other in-game bonuses that offer minor conveniences. I chose to subscribe to Fallout 1st because I play enough that the ~$8.33/mo. for the annual subscription is very affordable. Even with the low cost of renting a private server on an on-demand hourly basis, Bethesda can't be making much money on me with this "cash grab".

    Closing thoughts:

    It's sad that so many people post negative reviews for this game right after it came out as a beta. It's even more sad that so many people simply say they hate the game while openly admitting they haven't played it.    … Expand

    Gameplay is decent, and the game world is really immersive. Yes, this has microtransactions, but all the premium features are broken, so paying for them is not necessary. This game has a couple of bugs, but i'm sure that our lord Todd Howard will fix them all. The game also has little content, but wastelanders are cumming out soon and more quests will be available.     Fortunately, Atomic Shop doesn't sell Legendary Modules that I can waste all my money on to get the 3 legendary effects I want for every single weapon I have, for every single piece of armor I have (for both sets: 5/5 Heavy leather armor and 5/5 Heavy metal armor), for every single piece of power armor I have    I wanted to buy Legendary Modules for $ real money to get THE EFFECTS I WANT!!!
    Fortunately, Atomic Shop doesn't sell Legendary Modules that I can waste all my money on to get the 3 legendary effects I want for every single weapon I have, for every single piece of armor I have (for both sets: 5/5 Heavy leather armor and 5/5 Heavy metal armor), for every single piece of power armor I have (for the current 6/6 T-51b and for the future 6/6 T-65). Multiply it by, at least, 2 to get, for example, PVE (Hunter's) and PVP (Assassin's) sets. Even boosters can't help me as there is a daily limit of 300 Legendary Scrip.

    I'm quite skeptical whenever Bethesda releases a game nowadays, since in my opinion they are reaching EA lows (and now Blizzard) with certain cutthroat policies. In any case, Fallout 76 was terrible, but like ESO, it's turning out to be a very good game after all the updates, with Wastelanders it's the perfect chance to give it another chance.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. In short, Fallout 76’s addon wastelanders feels like the best quest mod I’ve ever played. Let me clarify. DLCs normally take you to a completely new place, like Fallout 3’s The Pitt, that takes you to Pittsburg, and Fallout 4s Far Harbor which takes you all the way up north to Maine. But this addon, which is pretty much the first BIG DLC for Fallout 76 doesn't take you to a new place, but instead takes the world space and framework laid out in the base game and expands upon it. There were a lot of interesting locations that just felt empty in the base game, although there still are the random wastelanders and new faction wastelanders add just enough liveliness to the world that it no longer feels completely dead.… Expand

    Fallout 76 represents a big disappointment and the lowest point of the series so far. Riddled with bugs, repetitive and dull gameplay, nonexistent story and outdated graphics, it fails as a both multiplayer and singleplayer experience for fans and newcomers alike.

    Miracles do happen once in a while and No Man’s Sky proved that sometimes it is possible to get back on your feet even after a terrible failure. Right now though Fallout 76 is botched spectacularly on so many levels that even talking about this game is a waste of time. [01/2019, p.46]
