These reviews are so out of date, it’s not funny, I have been playing Fallout 76 since November 2018 and discovered a few bugs, some very annoying, but by December most of these had gone, regardless of these bugs, I found that the game was incredibly fun to play.

Now it seems to me, the best way to experience the wonders of fallout 76 is to not listen to any reviews posted in and around the beta stage of the game and just play it for yourselves, they are all mostly wrong, way too negative and that to me seems odd, I explored the game and found very little that was being said, I heard rumors that they weren’t being paid enough, who knows, they certainly tried hard enough to kill the game before it could grow and develop.

For whatever the reason is for all the negatives for this game, it’s beautifully designed, the weather systems seem dynamic and constantly changing, so the game world might look all grey and dull but on other days, bright and full of color.

When you leave the vault, you are dumped into a mystery, you see signs of life but only dead bodies remain, and you soon come to realize that something else has recently happened to change what was already a world in a mess to become an even bigger graveyard.

The story unfolds before you in many ways, a lot via diaries found on terminals but a lot are found scattered around the map, a skeleton of a woman found slumped over her pram, while surrounded by bodies of dogs, many of these set scenes are chilling, while some are damn right funny.

If you are expecting a coop version of Fallout 4, this isn’t it, if you wish to explore a fallout world with other players, then Fallout 76 is for you, you can complete it with friends or solo it all the way to the end.

My favorite part of the game is the base building, it allows you to claim a small part of the map as your home, to build the type of home your fallout survivor would love to build.

Just see for yourself, if you loved the other fallout worlds, you should love this, and don’t fret over the fallout lore too much, there are reasons for most of it if not all.

Take a leap of faith and give it a go.

I believe this was also their first multiplayer game but its still not an excuse. in conclusion I still think this game is pretty fun and is worth half its price, its not perfect but its fresh and its improving, that's just my opinion and I have met many cool people on servers who love the game too, although don't get it for 100 bucks, still a decent game though. Many of the reviewers never actually played the game, re-using limited video that just showed bugs to provide a skewed review. The actual game is fun! It has an expansive world to explore and discover the story behind all the factions and what happened to the human populace of Virginia due to the Scorched plague. There are so many character options, build options and crafting options you will be hard pressed to run out of things to do. With the addition of Nuclear Winter a new exciting (even if I'm not a fan of PVP) mode was recently introduced giving infinite playable time with the mode. CAMP construction and design is amazing and continues to evolve. The game adventure mode is completely grief free, and the community is the friendliest group of people I've ever encountered online. You can bop over to a Survival mode if you want additional PVP, though I avoid it as I don't enjoy that style. Future content is even going to include human NPCs (non human NPCs have been in game since day 1 though people have lied to you about that) in the Wastelander expansion, and will include dialogue trees that will have significant impact and be dependent upon your SPECIAL points.

Lastly, like said from day one after you've bought the game you get ALL future content for free. At a price of only $20-30 now there's no excuse for not hopping into the apocalypse and having fun. You never need to buy Atomic shop content, but if you do it's only non game affecting items, just cosmetic skins and toys for the CAMP.

Fallout 76 may have a few bugs and it’s annoying when there is some server lag but even with all of that it is a very immersive and large world in fallout lore and story telling to explore. I love reading the terminals and notes and just playing the game in general. It is a little weird with no human npcs but with the e3 announcement I’m very excited!

Ever since Fallout 76 came out in November 2018, the game has made leaps and bounds in both adding new features as well as improving and polishing its already existing functionality. While its release was certainly a buggy sight to behold, this is not nearly the case as of recently.

BGS has been providing consistent updates to the game since its release, bringing several well-needed fixes and quality-of-life changes, while still being able to provide new story lines, features, and game-modes.

There is still a way to go in some areas, especially in the Beta preview of the Nuclear Winter game-mode, the game shows an immense amount of promise and will easily provide a wealth of content and fun to any Fallout fan, casual and hardcore alike.

While some do not agree with the multiplayer aspect of the game, this part generally only serves to enhance your experience as you can typically opt to explore the vast environment of Appalachia alone, while still reaping the benefit of multiplayer events, having other players team up with you to fight big foes.

Additionally, with the Wastelanders update in Autumn 2019 bringing NPCs back into the mix, with full dialogue trees and "true choice and consequences" it's a good time to pick this game up and give it your own go and evaluation. You'll likely be positively surprised with what you find.

Overall a 9/10. An excellent game that provides a wealth of content and, while still a little rough around some edges, is definitely worth it now compared to its release.

The graphics are better than anything bethesda has released to date, and the atmosphere and lighting is sublime. And to top that off i am running game at full 4k res on ultra settings at over 100fps. The only complaint would be I hate field of view and there is no option to turn it off, that being said it is well implamented and anoys me less than most other games. Will this game be for everyone no probably not and if you go into it expecting it to be another fallout in the series than you wont like it, but if you go into it knowing its not trying to be its just trying to be a different type of game in the fallout world you should really enjoy it. There is room for different types of games not everything needs to be cookie cutter made just to be a cash grab. Good for Bethesda for going out of their comfort zone and making another awesome game. The hate seems a little bit too extreme. I think mostly people came expecting this to be a typical fallout game. Insane game. Always loved all fallout games for that autistic wasteland waste looting with beloved old jazz songs on radio. The fact that this game hasn't any NPC is great because it boosts that autistic feeling so much. No npc + rare players meetings - that thing leaves you alone in this world. Fantastic!

In a war-torn world, there was always a lack of an element of survival!
Finally, you can do the restoration of the world yourself, and not just run around the ruins collecting endless-useless food and water. It would be nice to add more influence of weather, such as cold or wetness.

The graphics are definitely not bad as some reviewers would claim. the game looks gorgeous with this beautiful atmosphere all around it.
The Gameplay is fun with a survival system with deteriorating hunger and thirst and the constant search for materials to craft armor and weapons, Gunplay is good with vats making a return.

The quest line in this game is exciting and the way they have left clues on terminals, notes and holo-tapes makes it well worth to explore.

From a PC perspective, there are a number of quality of life features that are typically standard in AAA games that are lacking. These include lack of FOV sliders, limited keybind customizing, and no push-to-talk (to name a few). However, Bethesda has been very forthright in communicating with players and has promised to remedy a number of these issues already (i.e. push-to-talk).

If you want a perfect game right off the bat, I'd suggest waiting. However, the game is still a lot of fun (both solo and in a group) already.

Finally, looking at the micro-transactions, the game isn't "cash grabby" at all. Sure, there's a store that you can spend real money on even after you dropped $60 on the game, but all the items are cosmetic. That and you get enough Atoms (the in in-game paid currency) to buy a good number of things you would want just by playing the game. There's definitely no pay-to-win.

If you want the ability to murder hundreds of innocent human npcs en masse with no consequence like in 3/NV/4, you psychopath, or you want to be spoon-fed a story by a bunch of npcs who barely act human and are written like a shlocky satruday morning cartoon while clicking on text boxes to make your reply and then selling their loot to the nearest vendor (before killing him too), this game is not for you.

If you want to experience Fallout with your friends and enjoy bethesda's only good type of storytelling, visual and world-based, then this game has that in spades and you should get it.

Ignore the negative reviews complaining about the lack of NPCs (they're robots but they exist), lack of story (it's got one actually alright, not great but no fallout game has a "great" story, not even New Vegas. It's better than 3/4's stories at least), and bugs (There are some; personally the only one I've experienced myself that hurts the game is it muting all of the audio but fo76 on my pc, and one t-posing ghoul).

Fallout 76 Is by no means the best game in the series; that honour still goes to New Vegas, but it's not the dumpster fire some would have you believe. For starters, exploring Appalachia with your friends is a blast, but you can still go it alone. When you wander off from the starting areas, it truly feels like a Fallout game; you feel alone (unless you're traveling with friends) and diving into ruins feels just as harrowing as ever.
The new enemies are welcomed as well as the returning ones, and though some are very difficult to take out unless you're prepared you can win alone. Crafting has gone through a drastic improvement; you can craft ammo once again, and armour and weapons are leveled, meaning that when you learn the blueprint of a weapon you can craft it at a higher level. Additionally, scrapping weapons will reward you with new mods (though you will require a specific perk in the INT tree to make the better ones) for that weapon on top of the materials that make it up. The same applies to armour. Power armour has been reworked; it can be customized as in Fallout 4, but you may now store it in your pack as in 3 and New Vegas. Gunplay is slightly improved from 4, which was a grand improvement on 3 and NV's gunplay, and the weapons sound powerful; they're a joy. Without spoiling much, story is now delivered through the only way Bethesda can do it without writing Fallout 3's story again; through the environment and through holotapes and notes. The quests you go on paint a picture of a wasteland stripped of humanity, and it's up to you to find out why and stop whatever's causing it. Well, you and your friends and fellow 76 residents. You can play solo as I mentioned, but playing with friends is recommended to get the full experience; with the new perk system, you can also swap out perks with ease to suit your playstyle. Playing alone? Add Lone Wanderer and become a solo badass. Playing with friends? Grab Bodyguard and beef yourself and your friends up for the fight. With enough CHA, you can share a perk with friends. The Survival aspects make this a key feature; sharing Dromedary means your whole squad can go longer without a drink and as almost all water is irradiated or full of disease now, having that can be a boon. Still, the survival aspects aren't overwhelming to a new player; you don't need to sleep but you do need to eat and drink, though food is very common if you gather wood and kill animals. There are colourful NPCs; they aren't human, they explain why in-universe if you do some digging, but they are still fun. If you want to know what I mean, head to Grafton; you'll meet quite the eccentric character.

Overall, Fallout 76 is a solid 6-7/10 if played solo; it's not the best in the series, but it's better than the abysmal failure that Fallout 4 proved to be. If you play with friends, especially if you use an external chat client like Discord, it's easily an 8/10. Finding new places and exploring them as a group is rewarding and challenging and a complete and utter blast of a time.

There are bugs; your mileage may vary in which ones affect you, but I've experienced very few of the ones my friends have. If you're hesitant, wait a few weeks and see if the bugs get patched out and get it cheap elsewhere via a key.

If you seriously cannot stand the thought of ever meeting another player, wait until the Private servers drop in early 2019; then you can lock yourself away in a private server and be as antisocial as you want while you experience the second-best story in the entirety of the 3d Fallout series (Behind NV, but ahead of 3 and leagues beyond 4) told in a way that forces you to seek it out. Or don't; it's your call. I've played since day 1 of the beta and I'm only now getting to the main story quests. That's the kind of game this is, and if that doesn't scream Fallout to you, then I'm not sure what does.

I found this game to be a diamond in the rough. It's the most fun I've had in a long time. If you like Fallout and the setting of post apocalyptic games, you then realize that it isn't a tropical paradise and finding treasure is a slim encounter. If you love to explore/loot/craft, this is an amazing game.

This game is certainly much better than No Man's Sky which also got slammed hard by the community, but certainly wasn't a total flop.

There are some crap games out there, but very few deserving of a "0" score, This one is way better than most give it credit for.

If you aren't sure, wait for a sale. Definitely not a flop and improvements are on the way. I say if you like Fallout, give it a fair chance. I'm glad I did.

Far from the best Fallout game, but it's Fallout, it's online, and it's a new setting - nothing revolutionary, but fun nonetheless. There's room for improvement - performance mostly, human NPCs would be nice, but the empty wasteland is different and kind of enjoyable in it's own way

If you enjoy open worlds and being able to play with your friends, you may like this one. If you want a solo RPG experience, or a massive Multiplayer experience, steer clear because it will disappoint. If you're a early game fanboy that hated or disliked F04, you likely won't like this one so save your money. If you're a hardcore single RPG player, you definitely won't like this one. If you enjoy games for what they have to give without trying to force it to fit in your expectations, and enjoy the fallout universe, you may (like many others) enjoy this game.

It was launched too early with not enough beta time, so there is still bugs. Mostly cosmetic, not really game breaking. A few broken quests here and there (like nearly every single game on release) with the first update they're already showing commitment to smashing the worst of the bugs. If that's something that bothers you, wait a few months at least for them to polish it up a bit and watch some twitch streams to check whether you would really enjoy it.

Microtransactions are cosmetic, you can earn the means to buy things on the store in the game. so that's a no nevermind.

I highly suggest picking up a friend or two to run with, it can make the whole experience a lot more enjoyable. The world is full of things to discover, but if you're not into the whole exploration/poking into every nook and cranny type of play, again, this game will likely disappoint.

Build limitations and hoarding limitations are the only reason I won't give this game a ten. There's talk of increasing them, but as of right now they are quite restrictive and irritating if you want to store everything/build everything.

Above all. if you don't go into the game with expectations (both good or bad) This game can be quite fun as it is. If you're expecting a F05. this is not it.

Fallout 76 is a great game. It has its problems but the game is still fun and engaging. There are no human NPCs and there are other players running around

Fallout 76 may not be the absolute best in the series, could be one of the worst in the series (of the Fallout games Bethesda made. I'm pretty sure we can all agree that this game is better than Brotherhood of Steel). However just because it's
the worst of the series doesn't mean it's bad. It's still a really fun game that I'm glad I'm able to play. It's just not as good as Fallout 3 or Fallout 4.

One big thing I see people complain about is the lack of NPCs. For me, I've barely noticed the absence of them. There is still a great story to this game
(maybe better than Fallout 4's). The story even explains the lack of NPC (won't say what it is to avoid spoilers). To get the story you have to read notes
and listen to audio clips, which isn't much different than just getting the information from NPCs. It's still just go here, listen to this, do this. It's been
like that for every Fallout game. My favorite thing to do in fallout games wasn't talking to NPCs and getting the main story, but going to new locations and
reading notes or terminals to get the story of the world rather than just the immediate quest line.

Another big issue a lot of people negatively reacted to is the other players. A lot of people are worried about other players killing them over and over or
just being an overall announce. However, all of the players I've ran into playing this game have mostly just ignored each other or trade. There was one time
a player killed me over and over, but it was my fault for trying to get revenge so many times on a player double my level. After the first time, they killed
me the rest was just self-defense. A player can only do little bits of damage to you unless you attack back. After attacking back a PVP battle is then fully started. The winner of the battle then will get caps depending on the opponents level. If I player is able to kill you and you did not fire back, then they will be considered wanted and will have a bounty placed on them where everyone on the server can see.

People are also complaining about lag and glitches. While the game full of bugs and lag is never a good thing, Bethesda is trying to fix this. The game won't always remain full of bugs. Bethesda plans on fixing these as fast as they can.

There are also minor complaints I've seen. One of which is that Fallout 76 uses a lot of assets from Fallout 4. Fallout New Vegas also used a lot of assets
from Fallout 3, but I don't see anyone complaining there. People have also said that the C.A.M.P. system is flawed since when you place a C.A.M.P. it dissapers forever after you log off. However, this isn't true. If no other player as built a C.A.M.P. near where you place your's, then your C.A.M.P. will spawn into the server with you exactly where you left it. Another complaint people have is that Fallout 76 is just a cash grab. Their evidence for this is that Fallout 76 is just a survival game. Fallout 76, however, is barely a survival game. The only survival aspect is that you have to eat, drink, and
sometimes you get an illness. Fallout 4's survival difficulty was more of a survival game than Fallout 76. People have also tried to use the micro-transaction
as evidence for the game being a cash grab. However, the micro-transactions are only cosmetic items. Bethesda has also said that the actual DLC for the game
(Like Far Harbor, Old World Blues, or Mothership Zeta) will be free because of the micro-transactions. You even get the micro-transaction currency for free
just by doing basic in-game stuff like killing ghouls. So would you rather have to pay $40 for more story and gameplay features or would you rather have a
completely optional micro-transaction service while you get the $40 DLC for free? And technically, almost every game out there is a cash grab. Do you think
Rockstar would have made Red Dead Redemption 2 if they won't going to get money for it? Companies don't make these games just because they feel like it or to
be nice. They make these games because it makes them money. Every company is like that. Sony, Microsoft, Nintendo, EA are all only here for the money. They don't make games to be nice. They make them so they can get money.

    100 hours of play time.

Let's get a good look at what the game has to offer. Let's proceed point by point. Let me explain to you how FO76 is indeed a true Fallout game, and why.

    1) World design :

The map, set in the Appalachian region, is gigantic. You could press autowalk at one end and not reach the other for hours, not only because it is this big, but also, there's so much to see on the way. So many places, each with their very own feeling. Eerie swamps, barren abandonned mining operations, vibrant forests, steep mountains, derelict factories.. All so well put together. You barely notice the transition from one to another because it happens gradually. There is a real sense of immersion, as you seemlessly travel an incredibly coherent and diverse landscape. I caught myself just enjoying the scenery more than once.
    Just regular Fallout.

    2) Storytelling

Oh boy. For a game with so few NPCs, the storytelling is incredible. The voice acting is more than on-point; every holotape you listen to introduces a new character that manages, in a few minutes and only by voice, to get across his own personality, to reach out to you, the wanderer, and tell you his unique story. The actors did an amazing job. But there's more.
Computers often hold stories too, in the form of reports, journals and other entries. Everywhere you go, you may just happen on a unique story that adds it's stone to the greater picture. It's never thrown in your face. It's not hidden either. It is simply there to enjoy if you so wish. And believe me there is much to enjoy.
Just regular Fallout, maybe even better (because way more subtle).

    3) Sound Design :

Just as each type of terrain has it's own visual feel, the audio is of great diversity. When you're standing on a cliff in the mountains, you truly feel like you're there. Wind gushing, dirt crumbling, maybe even gunshots or wildlife fighting in the distance. High quality and well placed effects manage to make the world come alive. From light hearted and cheerful to downright creepy and dark, every ambiance is covered and given to you at the exact right time. If you stop and listen for a while, anywhere in the world, there are going to be things to hear.
    Just regular Fallout.

    4) Gameplay :

i'm tempted to say "It just plays like regular Fallout" and I wouldn't be lying, but allow me to elaborate on that. The gunplay is nothing more nor less that what the previous titles have got us used to. It's not bad, but it certainly could be a tad better. There is some lack of balance between weapons; Automatic weapons suffer too weak damage and melee is simply overpowered. The UI has seem some quality upgrades in this installment, but it still could offer more sorting options. You never get lost in your inventory, but you may have to scroll a lot if you're a hoarder. Hit detection on very fast targets is not really on point, storage space is too limited (they're working on it) and you're not safe from encountering a monster that'll end up stuck sideways in a wall. More hilarious than annoying, but still. Some tough monster are not rewarding enough to beat, some weaker ones are too rewarding. The game still is surprisingly stable, although you may experience the odd disconnect every few hours. Some perks need to be fixed, others balanced.
Weapons and clothing/armor show some promising variety. Add to that the ability to to mod them heavily and hid armor under purely cosmetic clothing, and you'll no doubt find the look you want. Hitboxes are.. Well they're Bethesda's hitboxes. Need I say more ?
    Just regular Fallout.

    5) Community :
That's something entirely new to the Fallout series. Let one thing be said; FO76 players love their game. The haters rooted themselves out, most without ever giving a chance to the game, and we're left with an unnusually friendly community. They're here because they love the game, because they love the potential. They're happy to play, happy to help, share tips, build bases and go on quests together. And last but not least, they are welcoming. They want to share their experience and that makes it surprisingly easy to make friends out of people randomly met in game. Just check the FO76 subreddit. The community is half of what makes this game great. And even when you're alone, it just plays like regular Fallout.

I perfectly understand not wanting to spend sixty bucks on a game that has so many bad reviews. But if you weed out Youtubers out for easy views, mindless bashers allergic to change, and the insane amount of reviews made before the game came out, you're left with a gem of potential. There are problems, but they're so easily overlooked because the game offers so much.
Thats what this game is. Potential.

The game still looks fine, graphics, believe it or not, do not make a game good or bad. I much prefer the art style argument for looks, and Fallout 76 has strong art direction and a good style. The big root of all of these negative reviews is that the company did something the fanboys didn't like, and they all think that if they whine enough it will make the company feel bad or change. Its a company, and it owes you nothing. I have been a fan of Bethesda since i was 8 years old, and I personally quite like this game, it is a cozy Bethesda title with none of the problems with bad writing that have plagued their last few games, namely Fallout 4 and Skyrim, with the majority of quests I have done thus far in 25 hours of BETA and the last two days of the released product being well written and delivering the story well. There isn't any ludo-narrative dissonance like plagued Fallout 4, and the lack of NPCs is a good thing, as Fallout 4s NPCs were boring and forgettable and, personally, I would rather have nothing than something actively detrimental to my experience with the game the way that dealing with Preston Garvey was. This is a Spinoff game, not Fallout 5. Remember that Fallout has had spinoffs before, and if Brotherhood of Steel on the Xbox couldn't kill the franchise when it was in a vulnerable state, then Fallout 76 is not going to kill it when it is insanely popular. It sickens me to see so many fans of Bethesda's games trashing their newest one simply because it is different. Do you want 15 more Skyrim Rereleases? Because this is how you get the company to never try anything new again, you stupid fanboys you. Expand

Now i know people have a right to their own opinion, to what they believe is the best game, or to make it the best game, or a great game, and i will never deny anyone their right to do so.

But this is Fallout, this is the series that i love the most, more than any other game franchise around. It hurts to see people so hateful, so angry, so willing to throw negative reviews for such spiteful reasons. This happened for Fallout 4 as well, and fans did this for New Vegas, and for Fallout 3. Heck some did it for Fallout Tactics, even Fallout 2 being such purists.

So where does it stop? When does this Fallout game hating end? I like the game, yes, but there are aspects that drive me crazy enough that i would have given it a zero too, yes. But you know what makes me different? Do you know why i have no love for Todd Howard or Bethesda, and how he keeps throwing out games that are not ready, or that each game tends to break some aspect of lore until it is explained and fixed, or why they choose the choices they did for a game, even if it did piss so many people off?

I'm here to simply have fun playing Fallout, if i have fun, if i enjoy playing, I'll keep coming back, if not, then I'll come back eventually when I'm bored, but i just want to play. Not want the latest graphic engine, the best immersive NPC's, the perfect gaming experience, even the perfect match with lore, i just want to play! That i can play with other players now, cool, that they are working on patching the game, good, no game is perfect at launch, no matter how many years it is taken. I just want to play, not hear people, or see people in the case of my video feeds and channels, endlessly complain and complain and complain. Play it or don't, have fun or don't, If you cannot figure out the story, or why the only NPC's (and yes, there are NPC's) are there, it's not my place to explain it.

So either just play, and have fun, and let those of us who do like it have fun, or just calm down, say your peace, and go, for if you cannot say anything constructive with your criticism, then do not say anything at all, cause personally, I'm tired of this toxic fan base.

The world is huge, the new monsters are cool and challenging, 95% of the players I've encountered have all been pretty friendly. I personally think, if Bethesda treats this game like ESO and continues to build on it, this game can really evolve into something amazing. I see it currently as a building block, and I'm happy to be playing on the ground floor.

My first Fallout and i love it. I like the depth of camp building an crafting, just the right amount of depth.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Okay first sorry for my bad english but after reading so many negative hate critic on this game i really had to write my sight of view about Fallout 76. As a Fallout Fan wich played all of the Games of the Series i can say Fallout 76 is a nice Game with a fresh concept.

So People calling Rate 10 Reviews here as paid or Fake? Try to do so with mine. I can say 100% im writing this on my free will and dont get paid. Im just a Guy that keeps its distance to have a clear view. But what i can say the many negative Reviews here are just angry that they didnt inform themselve much before buying the Game or dont even have the game and just jump on the hate Train because all they can do is spread nonsense and hate. The Number of negative Reviews here you can easily ignore 3/4 of them because they are no helpfull at all and just trying to make the game look bad over here at Metacritic.

People complain about an empty World and no NPC interaction in Fallout 76?
Sorry Folks but Bethesda already stated that "WE the Players" are the ones to be interacted with each other and take place of the NPC in the Game. If you cant interact social with other Players than Fallout 76 isnt a Game for you.

    Performance?
The Performance is okay for the Engine and its getting optimized everytime. Have patience instead of rambling around....i can play the Game without any Issue on Medium Settings...

All in all, i Enjoy playing the Game, seeing the fate of different NPC that died trying to keep West Virginia a.k.a. Apalachia a safe place until the Vault 76 People comes out. Its a great Enviroment Storytelling wich makes me many times sad about how the people there tried their best but failed to keep themselve alive. Some even knew that this could happen and prepared everything possible for others to come and take their Places.

So all over here: Dont think about Fallout 76 as a RPG in its normal Fashion Way, its a more SOCIAL Sandbox with much Enviromental Storytelling, no interactable NPC Humans (only Robots)

YOU as a PLAYER take the Role of a interactable "NPC" if you can socialize...many cant...thats why People here are just mad that Fallout 76 doesnt fit in for them....

    The good:
    - huge world to explore (doesn't feel empty at all, lots of "life" in it)
    - the atmosphere
    - no NPCs (but most players i see act like badly scripted NPCs anyway)

    The not so good:
    - dated engine (looks decent in 4K, 1080ti SLI, but lots of low-rez textures and lack of modern post-processing effects, Bethesda should have borrowed REDengine or at least Dunia for this title)
    - the storage space !!!

So yeah, i love exploring it so far. Might not be as good as modded FNV or F4, but i'll take it.

For me exploration of the world is one of my favorite parts about fallout, but for some the lack of NPCs kills the urge to explore the world, I personally find the survival mechanics, atmosphere, player interactions, and collecting loot to be enough motivation to explore. I'm not going to defend Bethesda for releasing the game before it was ready and pricing it at 60 dollars, but I do like the game, and I'm looking forward to what Bethesda has in store for future updates. I think if you enjoy grindy survival games, and don't mind a few bugs, this is a great game for you. It combines survival genre mechanics with the fallout universe, and for me that makes for a great experience. Lots of neat things to find and explore. If your a "completionist" this title is for you. I should also add there is a lot of good game design thought put into this, harvesting resources is instant (no stupid little timer) makes it nice and quick. UI and controls are well thought out. Fallout 76 is far "prettier" than Fallout 3, Fallout 4, and New Vegas because the color palette isn't limited to mud, ochre, and grays. It is also a different game from earlier Fallouts due to how leveling and perks work. Oh, and also, the occasional non-violent other Player Characters I run into (not a single one has been aggressive to me) that's different as well. The other big "raise the stakes" difference is: no time slowdown and no save files.

Given those differences, it does still have a similar look and feel to its predecessors.

My "first impressions" review score is an 8.5.

I can't wait for the weekend so I can really get stuck in.

*Quests start off slow and uninteresting but once you get a ways into the game you pick up some fun quests. The Dailies are annoying at times but are a great way to rack up some easy loot versus scavenging for some.

*A wonderfully crafted world with tons of unique locations brimming with environmental story telling.

*Tons of new and fun weapons! I just picked up an Assualtron Head as a pistol and it shoots the deathlazor!

*Yes bugs, doesn't every Fallout game have bugs?

*Base building is a little more improved from Fallout 4, with the added bonus of being able to move your base anywhere you want to.

Stop hating this game just to hate it. I have over 200 hours into this game and I've encountered two bugs, neither of which were game breaking. Think of it as this:

When did you ever really spend time playing with human NPCs before?
The few moments you were ever in a town? Heck there is almost every enemy from previous games in this game as all other Fallouts before with new ones included.
The previous games of Fallout were built around holotapes that led to more information in a quest to more holotapes.
I don't understand why people say this is a bad thing when this has always been a thing before?
When you hear distant gunfire, that is most likely real players fighting a real battle. Most of my time exploring in previous games were always dull.
Now I end up finding some player's shack, use their workbenches and get into a conversation with them on where to find some Radstag meat for a quest I was doing. Wow.

This game is truly something else. I don't get the hate because once you look past it (besides the faction PvP, remove that crap and just make everyone PvP ready) this game is great.

Don't let other people get in your head, it will make you see the sparse ugly in this beautiful game. Thank you Bethesda~

While it did not meet the expectations that I had, I still very much enjoyed the game.

GRAPHICS: While they don't exactly feel like AAA level graphics, they certainly are nice. They are a welcome improvement when compared to Fallout 4, though the mandatory depth of field and the lack of a FOV control aren't very appealing, unless you chose to edit the .ini files. UI EXPERIENCE:

    UI EXPERIENCE:

I love the new UI for the most part, as there is so much new and welcomed functionality that has been added, like the ability to scrap anything at any table all at once and the new map (though I wish the escape menu/ social menus where separate from it). Overall, the in-game HUD feels much more detailed and defined than FO4, though I wish they had the same settings to let you change the color elements of the Pipboy and the HUD.

    SOUND/MUSIC:

Bethesda has certainly outdone themselves this time in this game. The sound design is amazing in my opinion. The ambient music is leagues better than the previous Fallout titles, and the radio soundtracks are as great as ever. The only glaring issue is the lack of Push-To-Talk voice chat, as you either have it on or off right now, though they did say they were fixing it soon.

    GAMEPLAY:

The gameplay for the most part is solid. For the most part it is Fallout 4's Survival mode with some major adjustments and improvements. Crafting has been made easier, though it should be stated early on in the game that to get new modifications for weapons and armor, you have to scrap items of the same type. Scraping junk and weapons is much easier, since you can now do it at any crafting table.

The major issues I have with the games are the Quests, NPCs, and the Base Building. Though there is an amazing variation of NPC types in the game, for the most part you will only interact with Scorched. The Quests are repetitive and fairly uncreative. The Base Building isn't as fun as it was in Fallout 4, though the new UI looks nice for it, functionality isn't as good.

Other players are sparse, but from my experience any interactions were very positive. I feared that people would be malicious most of the time, I am very happy to say I was dead wrong. I have many stories about them, but I won't be posting them here.

    OTHER POINTS:
Pricing: I don't really think this is worth the 60$ pricetag, at least right now. At most I would pay 45-50$. Maybe as they add more Quality of Life updates, this opinion will change.
Server Size: I really wish they would increase this, as the servers feel slightly empty if you aren't sticking near Vault 76.
Atom Shop: I really like this idea. In-game challenges giving you currency for cosmetics, that you could also purchase with actual money if you chose to.

OVERALL SCORE: 78/100 (Rounded to 8 for Metacritic)
I do have some gripes, though I'm sure they will be taken care of in time.

I do think that the lack of human NPC's has been a bit jarring, and does take a little getting used to, but honestly it hasn't hurt my enjoyment of the quests at all. I also appreciate the variety of weapons and armors. Thanks to the devs for not just porting the stuff from the last game and calling it a day. I do wish I could remove the mod from one weapon and attach it to another ala FO4, but that's a minor thing, I think.

While I haven't run into a lot of other players (I tend to avoid them when possible), when I have done so it's been a good experience. The few griefers attempting to engage me in PVP were easy to avoid or train mobs into. I think Bethesda made an interesting, and in my experience, good choice with how they are dealing with PVP. Making it Factional in a future update seems a good step too.

I would say that the amount of reading you have to do lore wise at terminals is frustrating at times. Usually I'll think I have cleared a building and get attacked by a mob I'd missed. So frustration, but seems better in that the game doesn't pause (can't really) while I'm reading, hacking, or lockpicking. I think it bodes well for Party Raids, though I've not gotten that far yet, and don't anticipate doing so for a while. I can see in my mind some friends protecting one person hacking a terminal this way, and I like the idea.

Some of the more noticeable glitches to me seem to revolve around animations. Sometimes NPC's, Scorched or Ferals particularly, render on screen standing in a T pose until I get close enough to trigger them, then instantly fall flat to the ground and get up to attack. Other times I'll miss a super mutant at point blank range. I'm fairly confident my aim isn't that bad, though I suppose I could be wrong.

Storage of junk is an issue for me as well. I don't mind the personal stash limit, but I wish I could build and use non-secure containers as well. I tend to leave my camp open and unlocked so others can use the benches there. I wouldn't mind leaving mats out for others to take (food and water and meds too). I'm interested to see how I'll feel after utilizing one of the Workbench settlements, though I suspect until there are independent servers, and hopefully server set persistence, I won't be pleased. My sincere hope is that on a server I rent and pay for there will be persistence, even if tied to a faction scheme, and we can build out actual communities with shared resources. I'll keep my fingers crossed.

All in all, though I think there is some polishing to be done, I am having a lot of fun with '76. The thing I love over all else is that unlike DayZ, Rust, etc, the questing gives you a reason to be out hunting and gathering and exploring beyond "Get gear, shoot players, get more gear", which I think most other survival style games are sorely lacking.

+ Roll in a party (online)
+ Unique, fun gameplay elements only found in fallout
    + Looks stunning
+ More open story mode than previous FO

    - Each party member must complete quests individually (for most part)

I'd say instead of reading these negative reviews (the fallout community has been pissed that Bethesda decided to listen to their requests for a multiplayer fallout) do your own research. Find a friend that plays or watch a streamer. Have your own opinion and don't jump on the hate train that is the gaming community taking a dump on anything that isn't exactly an already existing experience.

The game starts you off easy, you're handed some gear and some perk cards - if you actually use your eyes and remember to pick stuff up that is, you can easily manage to leave the vault without perk cards, and without some other useful stuff, and you can also easily miss the gear- as it should be. Don't know how to use your eyes? You better learn, this is Fallout.

For the first many levels of the game you can easily use melee against all opponents, although I quite enjoy guns so I tend to hoard several and use them depending on the situation.

The gunplay is your standard Fallout gunplay very much reminiscent of previous Fallout games, albeit the V.A.T.S. system no longer pauses the game completely, but slows it down so you have an opportunity to select your target. Targetting specific limbs however now requires a perk, and as such the old Concentrated Fire perk has been remodded.

The crafting system is very much like the one found in Fallout 4, albeit with a few modifications, but it's fairly easy to work with. It does have some issues for example if you've made a blueprint of your house/shack/camp and then move the camp it will sometimes split the blueprint into several smaller blueprints. However if you just delete these (store the pieces) you can redeploy your blueprint at 0 cost. I'm sure this will be fixed in time, as this worked fine during the BETA.

Some of controls do show signs of having been influenced by console development, but I find this to be a minor issue for the most of the time. I do however wish that developers would stop being lazy when it comes to this, because that is what it is, being lazy.

The quests I have done so far have been engaging for the most part. You do occasionally feel the lack of HUMAN NPC's but you will find plenty of robots, ghouls, scorched, supermutants etc. There are also still roaming NPC traders, such as a lvl 50 supermutant whose name I can't remember, but he had some nice stuff.

Unlike alot of people I don't find Appalachia to be much emptier than the Capital Wasteland of Fallout 3 or Nevada of Fallout New Vegas. There is plenty of stuff to see and do, plenty of monsters to kill and lots of loot to be had.

There is still plenty of lore items to be found in the form of computers that has to be hacked and give hints to places where stuff can be found, along with a metric ****ton of holo tapes, some of whom can be quite fun to listen to. It's true the lack of NPC's means you don't have those long conversations anymore, but I don't feel like it detracts as much as others have mentioned.

As mentioned the game starts you off easy to begin with, but don't go too much out your way to explore too far east without leveling, as the enemies suddenly get much stronger the farther out from Vault 76 you get.

The PVP element is EASILY avoidable. Don't want to fight a player that is "griefing" you? block him, fast travel/run away or log off. You will get a new server when logging back in. At the moment your character disappears instantly when you leave the server, so there is no risk of being killed if you log off. Furthermore, the only thing you drop on death is whatever junk you're carrying, this is not EVE Online where you don't leave home with what you can't afford to lose.
Also wanted players are easy to hunt down and kill as PVP is normalized, however bear in mind that powerarmor can be a pain to get through, and if the player is far with his stimpaks it can't be a long fight. Don't be afraid to invite random people to a team if there is a wanted player around, it makes it easier to kill them.

The only critical problem I have with the game at the moment is the serious lack of storage space in your personal stash. Fallout has always encouraged a hoarder mentality, and the lack of storage severely hampers this at the moment.

Alot of people have mentioned "bad graphics", I really don't have any issues here, my laptop runs the game at Ultra preset and it plays completely fine at a decent average FPS and it looks great.
Yes it's an old engine, yes it has some bugs in it, but no it doesn't run worse than alot of other AAA games out there.

This is Fallout, it might not be the Fallout you know, but it is Fallout nonetheless.

I didn't feel like it was that hard to deal with either. There is more disease/sickness, i got parasites when i ate an uncooked radtoad egg, but found a cure disease bottle that cleared it up.
The online feature is not intrusive, and I only came across a few players. You get a sense right now that all the vault dwellers are working together. I had no run-ins with violent PVP yet, as i'm still only level 6 and PVP doesn't start until level 5.
I played with a friend and it was easy to join each others game and find each other.
The graphics are great and more colorful this time, all the new enemies look good and move fluid. The sounds though are amazing, and since you will probably wear a headset to talk, it's very immersive. When you are next to the water you will hear all the insects, or if you are standing in the forest you will hear the wind blowing through the trees.
The music has some new songs mixed in with old. I was weary when i heard beach boys wouldn't it be nice but it was followed by that hack em wack em song.
The leveling seems cool too with being able to equip different perk cards, I like this better than FO4's wall of perks.
VATS is cool and I don't miss the time-slowing.
The exploration is amazing though and i didn't even want to setup a camp yet because i just kept moving. If you are already a Fallout fan get ready to finally explore with your friends!

If I have one complaint so far the trading takes some getting used to and i think it could be quicker.
I drop traded with a friend to get around that. I might just need to get used to the system so that it goes quicker.

Bottom line, if you enjoyed Fallout in the Bethesda years and you always wanted to explore the world with friends, this is the game that allows you to do it. Most of the negative reviews are review bombers who are determined to wreck this game because they are sheep who heard from their favorite streamer that its bad. The majority of them dont even own the game id wager.

This game is not Fallout 5, its Fallout with Friends, people bought this expecting Fallout 5 and were disappointed when it turns out to be more of a Fallout sandbox to play with friends and had no single player campaign or that it doesn't allow them to gank people with lopsided PvP mechanics

I watched Videos of the Beta and read a lot about the Game before buying it. So i expected a game with Fallout 4 graphics, content, etc. but with multiplayer. I knew before that the game would be without NPC.

Since launch of the Game last week i have been playing until level 28 with my brother which is around 20 hours i think. So far we really enjoy the game. Graphics are as expected the same as Fallout 4 which does not bother me a bit because i like the way it is. I had no graphic glitches or anything so far.
Control and interface are quite intuitive. Of course the VATS has been changed because the slow motion would not be possible in multiplayer games. They way they implemented this feature is ok but I dont use it as often. The new Perk system is also ok because you can switch some cards while you dont need them and vice versa. One thing that bothers me is that you get random cards instead of having a whole selection. The Map is very big and the Places and Towns are interesting to explore.
The Worksop system is very nice. I like that you can claim some sites build a base and get some resources out of it. You have to defend that base from different attacks and other players can reclaim it.
With the CAMP you can build your own camp they way you like. The Stash is a bit too small and it is hard to manage your inventory with all the stuff you collect but as a realistic feature i kind of get it. It doesnt make sense to store tons of material just to make it available everywhere on the map. They implemented features like Food going to waste because they want to make it difficult to stay alive and keep you busy. So you really have to think about what you put in your box and try to manage your resources smart.
Questing in Fallout 76 is similar to the other Fallout games but instead of having a lot of NPCs you get to hear a lot of holo tapes and some Robots. I know that this is one of the biggest issues for a lot of people. But this was announced long before the launch and even without NPCs i find the game quite immersive. And for what i have seen so far, having no Humans in the Game is the Story of Fallout 76. Every one in this area died and you only see a lot of corpses and the people from the Vaults are to reclaim the Area. If i would be playing alone this would bother me more i guess, but since i bought the game to have a multiplayer experience this is fine for me.
The PVP element and how they implemented it is actually quite good. Before launch i was worried about high level players griefing others with power armors all the time. But having the option to fight back or just ignoring an enemy is very good. Its also nice that enemy player get wanted and are visible on the big map. You can hunt them down and get a bounty. I could not think of a better way to implement a PvP in such a game but also protect players who dont want to play this way.

So far i have experienced almost no bugs in the game. No Quest bugs so far. I had 2 game Crashes while saving a blueprint and sometimes i can not see my Teammate after joining the Team. But this is solved easily but rejoining the Team. Maybe i am lucky but for me the Game is very stable.

If you look for a game with the heavy quest system where you can choose between fractions and choose how you play the game (good or evil) and with that choose how your quest line will develope, you should look somewhere else. Play Skyrim, Fallout4 or Fallout NV. Anyway I am not sure how this would work in a multiplayer game. If my brother for example would start killing my quest "giver" and thereby choose a different path, for me the same path would be chosen automaticaly. I can imagine that this way of having 1000 options to play the game would be very hard to implement in a online multiplayer.

I think it is a good thing that they are trying to do something different. It would be a boring world if no one would try to do something in a different way. You can never satisfy everyone and you shouldnt.

(Funny how the people allways flame about the games after buying them "I want my money back" mimimi..... No one forces you to buy them before the game is launched. You can sit back relaxe and wait until the first gameplay videos and reviews arrive. Thats the way i do it. If i know that i will like the game, i will buy it.)

Fallout 76 was to me, an amazing new light for the franchise, my friends and I were all looking forward
to this game, and even outside our little clique, we found so many other players and people who love this game as much as us. This game has provided so much fun during the beta, and with today it's first day release, I will back it up.

People claim 76 is a lazy copy, I disagree, there is multiple new and brought back elements from the old franchise, quests are a little bizarre but what do you expect, you get immersed into the story not from skipping dialog with a character, but instead through interaction and attraction of wonders and locations... The issue is, the vocal minority is here, down voting these games so they can get their rocks off about how good they are reviewing such a horrible game, but, issue is, they didn't play it, and they don't want to spend time to.

Overall, the game has paved lots of fun with me and my friends, and this game deserves more positive light.
