Maybe i was lucky. i am sure the bugs will be corrected. The game play is mostly the same except for VATS. But VATS is not all that bad, just different. When exploring the game it felt like any Fallout game that i have played b4. I very much am enjoying the different era of the game, but i would really like to see more gouls and goul citys/towns/settlements, that is really the only thing i would like to see more of. The game has had a very poor and buggy launch which has undoubtedly negatively affected the reception of the game. Unfortunately, a lot of the comments from people online are from people who don't even own the game.

There are a couple of controversial design choices (such as no human NPCs) that have got people riled up before even trying the game out properly. The rest of the bad reviews are legitimate and due to technical errors and bugs that may make the game unplayable.

Regardless, I have avoided all of the media hype and trailers/reviews surrounding the game and decided to purchase it after looking at the synopsis a week after release. I thought it sounded intriguing and decided to try it out.

I personally have played the game for a few hours and I really enjoy it. There is a huge open world to explore and discover, the atmosphere of FO76 is fantastic for someone like me. I usually mod my previous FO titles (3,NV,4 etc) to be difficult and scary survival horror games i a Fallout universe.

FO 76 delivers the atmosphere; the loneliness, desolation and hostility of a post-nuclear hell-hole!
You need to make sure you have food, water and shelter and you genuinely feel like a Mad-Max, The Road or even Walking Dead character scavenging the ruins of the old world to try and survive.
When you finally meet up with another human player and end up working together and bonding through difficult challenges, the experience is just magical and unparalleled! If you aren't capable of experiencing a world yourself and need to be hand-held then you may not appreciate the design of the game in the way it is designed to be explored. Additionally, there is a big chance that you will suffer from awful game-breaking bugs that will totally destroy your ability to have fun with 76...

I played Fallout 4 twice the reason being I started with that installment of the series and the second time around was playing it understanding all the tools and ways to achieve victory using my own creativity. Fallout 76 follows suit but though there are many similarities between the games you have to use a different gaming strategy to get the most out of it. The first 10 levels can be very tough and most are tempted to quit, not enough water, food, and decent guns and ammo. You need a strategy, a creative one and I like that about the game. When you make a camp remember to not leave it unattended because some of the players have taken on the role of a Raider. I overcome this by keeping a small camp with the bare essentials and quickly packing it in its theft proof case before I leave, so in a sense, there are still Raiders in this game but they are players like you but with a different agenda. I think that in a way this makes it more real life don't invite strangers into your home kind of common sense.

I don't wear the same clothes every day, treat this game like a new outfit and you'll enjoy it very much.

The game is good, but attracted UNNECESSARY hate. And yes, the game is bugged, like most Bethesdas game, but do resist do to some modding despite the online status of it.
There aren't THAT many bugs (heck even less than the average bethesda game) but the game is bugged.

Much better than people are giving it credit for -- I'd be willing to wager most giving it negative reviews haven't actually played the game.

I had no plans to give this game a chance, but a couple of my friends bought the game and I ended up diving in with them. The game is by no means perfect right now, but the foundation is solid and I think we'll see a lot of improvements to come.

There's been a certain allure to the game I didn't expect. Every day at work I've been itching to get back on to explore, build up my character, improve my camp, improve synergy with friends, collect new guns and outfits, etc. There's a lot of interesting places to discover and stories to listen to if you're willing to take the time. I feel like it's one of those games that if you just watch others play or read the reviews, you really wont understand the essence of the game.

If you're a fan of Fallout and like the idea of playing with others, I strongly recommend you give it a chance.

So, here we are now. I got back on once NW was released. I wasn’t super hyped for it, simply because I don’t like BR games that much. But this BR was different for me. It was actually fun! I put another 20 or so hours into this in the span of a day and half. It’s really fun to play, the people are not dicks and it actually feels possible to play.

One of my main gripes with Fo76 adventure mode before I dropped was the constant hit detection delay. I would shoot and NPC and it would take about 1 second for it to register. That has been fixed from what I tell and all the other bugs I’ve had issues with have been fixed.

The hearing of the new wastelanders update has really gotten me. That was the main turnpoint of me coming back to Fo76. I’m extremely excited for it to drop. It look like there will be a map expansion mabye, NPCs are coming back, new guns and armor, vault raids etc etc... It just looks so fun an I cant wait for it!

After putting another 40 or so hours into this game, I can safely say that this game is good now. The bugs that were really annoying were fixed, the new mode is fun, and the new DLC looks especially promising.

I didnt have as many issues as others did during the launch, next to none, and im still experiencing next to no issues & my main problems with the game was some of the limitations which has later been fixed. The game still has some server instabillity issues here and there, but overall my playtime has been very enjoyable.

The game at its current moment is not worth the 60$ price tag due to the rocky start & the few (but still there) server instabillities. But if this is reliably fixed or the game goes on sale for under 40$ i would recomend giving it a try.

Honestly, I do not understand the hate. After 4 hours, the map is huge and with many interesting locations, multiplayer works well, there are both quests and events, base building is better than Ark or Exiles. Controls are awkward, taken from console version, but overall tolerable, even if they should fix it.

I almost didn't buy this due to yesterday's 2.6/10 rating on here. I'm really glad I ended up watching gameplay videos on YT and deciding for myself whether or not it was worth the $60. I will also update the rating as I play more, but wanted to get this review out there for people to see that the game is not that bad as some are rating it, at least to me. The 2.6 rating really surprised me, because I typically agree with low user reviews for recent games (looking at you, Destiny 2). Games like the previously mentioned are ones that I just can't get into and don't last 30 minutes playing. Fallout 76 is not one of those games.

The atmosphere and graphics are gorgeous in some areas of WV, especially in the first main questing area after you get out of the vault. Following the holotape breadcrumbs and learning about what happened to the doomed settlers in the area is haunting and provides a good story from the get-go.

The crafting and level up systems are very similar to FO4's systems, and they are intuitive and feel good to use.

The online play and group questing zones, similar to the group questing areas in Warhammer Online 10 years ago, feel fun to play. Also the hand gestures/emotes are funny in online interactions.

The only downsides I see to this game so far are a few bugs, such as the game crashing when I exit it, and the character selection screen not showing my correct character level. These are minor things though, and don't take away from the overall experience.

I would say overall, if you enjoyed FO3, NV, and FO4, this game is for you. Again, I am so surprised at these low ratings. The game just feels and looks great to me. But perhaps I will change my mind by endgame. If so, I will update this rating.

Unlike most others, I find the game quite enjoyable. It does not lack bugs - as does any bethesda release - and therefore I do not feel the need to emphasize on that any further. Having no HUMAN NPCs is not that bad, and it servers an interesting plotline and strongly explains what happens to them within the game itself.

Guess Beth sticks to it cause they know it, it allows them to add more story oriented quality content and manage the whole thing quickly, thats what serious players expect. That whole CAMP construction thing has huge potential in MP. The presence of other players can either be ignored, it may make it more difficult to delve into the story or become a great improvement. All depends on persons attitude. Dunno whether it was intentional or not but it feels like thankfully the BETA and early revs filtered out all the most invasive trolls. The main story and side quests intended for SP provide that already known and recognized Bethesda level quality. The replacement of NPCs with robots, holotapes etc. may seem like a downgrade but in fact isn't as impactful as I thought. Theres a lot of MP oriented randomly generated events. After few sessions Im having a great time and it feels like the best things are yet to be explored. All in all it seems that this project has a huge potential. Some other minor bugs still occur, but rly dont get all the early review bombing it gets. This has nothing to do with objectivism. It clearly shouldnt be rated below good/average when compared to other top RPGs available on the market now. Fallout 76 is Fallout, and it isn't Fallout at the same time. And for all the hype around the multiplayer, both friend and foe, it seems inconsequential most of the time. Just passer-bys on the street more often than not, it's there but it doesn't matter. It's a fun game, but I don't think it's going to be a timeless classic I return to time and time again years from now once I feel I've had enough.

I had to create a Metacritic account to state my opinion, as a Fallout fan since the original series (Black Isle), because of vehemently I disagree with the overwhelming amount of negative review on launch day. I'm going to share my thoughts on the negative feedback and on the game in general.

I have been playing Fallout 76 since the first beta day, and can safely say that this does not deserve anywhere near the flack it is currently receiving:
    - Microtransactions are cosmetic, and the currency to acquire the special items can be easily found in-game through quests. This is similar to Overwatch and a totally reasonable way for developers to continue monetary value for the game long after the main sales die down. You should be happy this is in the game, because it's a monetary incentive for Bethesda to continue improving the game.
    - No in-game mic toggle has already been addressing by Bethesda and will be implemented. Frankly, I think the focus on this attributing to negative reviews in a MASSIVE content filled game is childish. Get a physical toggle on your mic for now - no biggy.
    - All the major bugs have steadily been ironed out since the first launch of the beta and I'm confident in Bethesda to work it out. Commentary on small bugs and quarks is so silly - Bethesda's games are known for being full of bugs and I'm surprised the fan base isn't perceiving them in a more accepting fashion.
    - Anti-cheat is something very new to Bethesda and will require time to identify any exploits. Slamming them on this during day one is silly.
    - The reuse of content (models / character animations etc) from Fallout 4 is very understandable and is the only way this product would have made it to market given the mass amount of backend development required... which is a great thing for the Fallout and Elder Scrolls series in the future, as this is essentially the pilot for their engine over multiplayer network connectivity.
    - So far, I have found NO shortage of content, quests, and other players. No interactive NPC dialog is disappointing, but the world is certainly filled with voices, NPCs, and stories.

    About the game:

    - A huge amount of content/exploration - new creatures and landscapes
    - Beautiful atmosphere design and landscapes
    - The best crafting I've seen in a Fallout game yet, with the ability to SHARE with people.
    - Excellent to play with people, however, can feel like a lonely ride at times during solo (this game really shines with friends)
    - New VATs system is still very useful, though certainly, a sacrifice to accommodate the real-time combatNew VATs system is still very useful,
    - There are some frustrating UX bugs in the interface and feels very clunky/hard to use and I hope
    they improve the design
    - The story is OK - hasn't WOWed, but not awful and still carries through enough for me to be tolerant considering the vast amount of other content and features
    - PVP is almost non-existent and the community seems very focused on collaboration and goodwill
    - Gameplay style is similar to and will attract players of games like Rust, Age of Conan, and Ark.
    - Crafting and building is excellent and the best of the series

Overall I would consider this a great first attempt at a multiplayer game - I feel that the audience needs to be more forgiving of Bethesda and embrace and applause that they are taking a huge leap of faith and risk with this game, and have done a good job.

Bottom of the line its a survival game, even if it isnt marketed as one, it is. The game is a large sandbox and there isn't really any direct path in which you take, like many other survival games you just survive. But with 76 theres somewhat of a storyline and various quests and events in the world to brighten and keep it lively.

With survival games, its not the game that will give you the experience you want, its the interaction with other players. If you have no friends it will probably not be the game for you and you more than likely will dislike it. But if you got a group you can build with, fight enemies and players with, and explore with. The game is great.

Overall there is a few bugs ive encountered, and if zoom in on far objects they're pretty low res. I dislike the FoV and the FPS cap and wish it was on a newer engine.

The game IS Fallout. If you like Fallout you'll like this.. There's plenty of things to do in the game. It's practically identical to Fallout 4 and uses a lot of the same assets. Every 2-4 weeks they've been adding GBs of content and updates too. I am very happy with the money I spent on this. I find it hard to believe there's so many zero ratings. I think a lot of these people haven't even tried the game yet and are just being tools riding the rage train.

Anyways bout the game. It's Fallout.. It's fallout, it's fallout... You either like Fallout or you hate it.

Graphics are great but if you really want to customize them you need to find the ini file and edit the settings there. Game uses a lot of the assets from Fallout 4 so you'll see a lot of familiar things.
It is a resource hog so with a decent rig you're gonna struggle with framerate. (get used to tweaking)

Sound is good but could use some better 3D positioning. The vertical position is a lil off and obstructions don't alter the sound as it should. Like if I hear you shoot a gun on the other side of a house it will sound no differ if I remove that house.

Gameplay is typical Fallout 3,4. It really doesn't feel much differ accept vats is in real time so you have to be quick if your build focuses on using it. Lot of guns, melee weps, explosives to choose. Typical first/thirdperson shooter with melee. Almost feels like Dying Light but without the parkour. Instead you have mech suits with jetpacks and mutations that make your run faster or jump higher.
PVP is meh.. Because if you attack someone they only take like 5% damage UNLESS they fight back and THEN they take full damage from your attacks. SO that leaves out the stealthy sneaky builds to initiate a fight, but that's why in March they are going to release a unrestricted PVP server and THAT is in my opinion when everyone should pick up the game. It's be much more exiting knowing anyone can wack you at any moment and take your stuff (just junk, not your gear). There's also a public base mechanic where you take over a base already in the world in order to get certain loot over time as you control it. Other players can contest that base and try to steal it and you have to fight them off. You are however able to build turrets and other defenses to protect it from them and waves of occasional monsters.
Perk system, stat distribution, and mutations are extensive. I highly recommend looking into an online planner to plan your character's build. There's just thousands of ways you can build your character. It's practically unlimited depending on your combo of gear, mutations, perks, whether or not you use Power Armor and/or what type of legendary effects you have on your normal armor...

Content isn't bad. There's a few dozen differ enemies. A month in and I still haven't seen everything. Granted I've just been grinding away instead of doing the story or side missions. Which I only just started working on. Weapons can be upgraded like barrel, stock, receiver, magazine/clip, scope, etc plus you can find legendary versions with mutators like making the ammo explosive. Kinda like Borderlands. Can build your own base then pack it up and deploy it where ever you want. The world itself is pretty big. Definitely bigger than fallout 4. Quests aren't bad either and a lot of them will kinda force people together whether to kill each other or work together.

I enjoyed Fallout 4 and I pretty much got what I expected from Fallout 76. I'm not a huge story guy so lacking NPCs really didn't do much for me as I usually skip the dialog and just hurry back to the fighting anyways. There are NPCs but they are just voices over a radio that give you missions, robots that sell stuff, or this one traveling super mutant merchant and his pet cow.
It has some quarks but from what I see Bethesda has and is making an honest attempt at correcting things as they come up. So far it looks like every month they release patches and updates and quite big ones too.
I can definitely see where people are coming from at release though. The game did have a lot of game breaking crap wrong with it. I guess I'm just lucky I started after most of that got fixed. Just a bummer that I'm stuck playing legit with a bunch of people that exploited the game, BUT when the pure PVP server comes out everyone will have to start over so I'm really looking forward to that.

By no means is it a perfect game. Yes, there are bugs, and not as many as some people say, and with that 90% of them that I have encountered are harmless. Occasionally you might lose connection to the server, but 99% of the time I have had no problem with that. Stash size and inventory size is low, but those can be reasoned with by taking the right perks and not hoarding tons of resources.

CAMPs are fun to make, and while they are not as large as the settlements for Fallout 4, it is satisfying to make a camp that can be placed anywhere on the map as you go. If you place your camp in an unorthodox location, i.e. not somewhere where everyone is going to place it, you have practically no risk of it being removed. Over the course of three days my camp north of Morgantown as never removed.

In total, it is an enjoyable spinoff to the Fallout series. In fact, I can without a doubt say the environment is the best I have seen in the Fallout series. If you like the gameplay of Fallout, the world of Fallout, the possibility of having other strangers help you out, and a number of interesting questlines, then Fallout 76 is the game for you!

he game has bugs, lots of them. But, so did all of the other Bethesda games. It's about time for Bethesda to create a new engine and stop relying on their buggy Skyrim/Fallout engine. This game can be played solo, but flourishes in Multiplayer. The problem is that players don't seem to have the courage or ability to interact with strangers. In my experience, strangers were nothing but friendly. I have not had one negative experience when reaching out to other players.

Fallout 76 seems to combine all of the good aspects of the previous fallout games, including some quality of life features that came from the modding community. While many may criticize this, it shows that Bethesda is listening to us, to the good and the bad. My suggestion is to give the game a shot and be open-minded. This is not Fallout 5. This was meant to be a new experience and bashing a game for bringing us out of our comfort zone is not fair.

Bethesda has already shown that they want to fix these bugs. They aren't sweeping it under the rug. The game does not feel lonely, it is full of immersion. It's been a while since I've been able to play a game for several hours at a time and be so engrossed that I lose track of time.

I have played all Fallout games from the old 2D tactical rpgs to the new 3D ones and Fallout 76 is a worthy, albeit different entry into the series.

To be clear: Fallout 76 is no Fallout 5 and is not the usual RPG experience. But at no point it even tries to be.

It is a game in the vein of The Forest or Conan: Exiles and in that regard it shines brightly. The connection is stable and playing with other members of your team is a blast. Taking on a location with creatures way above your level takes coordination and is fun.

Crafting has been scaled down a bit from Fallout 4 (to keep people from building unrealistic floating homes) but is still a great way to lose some hours trying to get your house just right.

The graphics are the same as Fallout 4, so if you hated those you are not going to love them here. But is is amazing what Bethesda created with their old engine and you will come across beautiful lush (albeit radiated) valleys, foreboding, smoldering mining pits, and adequately disgusting toxic swamps.

If you play the game as a single player, the best way to describe it is as the later half of a "normal" Fallout game. At some point you have finished the main quest and start exploring the area for xp and loot. I returned to an old (200+ hours) Fallout 4 save a few days before the Fallout 76 release to do exactely that (to get into the mood) and I can say without doubt it feels the same.
So if you stop a Fallout game after then main quest, Fallout 76 is not for you. If you sink countless hours into crafting, exploring and looting, feel right at home!

As for the writing: Since there are no NPCs (except maybe Graham and Rose) you have to read or listen to the story via holotapes. And these are amazing!!! Fallout always had dark humor, but it never had real emotional depth. Some of the holotapes this time around are bitter, gut-wrenching sad and some (few) are hopeful. ("Confessions of an addict" or the Whitesprings tapes). Whoever did the writing and voice acting: Amazing job!

And Fallout 76 is finally a game where you can get the microtransaction money simply from playing the game. And at a good rate at that. I already bought the skins I wanted and some of the additional emotes and player icons and did not spend a single real life currency on that. If every game (I am looking at you here ESO, Elite and Overwatch) would treat in game stores like that, Microtransactions would not have gotten such a bad reputation to start with.

    Is everything sunshine? No.

-The game lacks dedicated PVP and is really a co-op game. I can live with that, but I do see the merrit should they add a dedicated PVP server/zone.
-The stash inventory/c.a.m.p. building limit and blueprint size are far too small. You either start not picking up every piece of junk (But it is Fallout!!!) or you have to micromanage. This is why I did not give the game 10 out of 10.
-A push-to-talk button is needed (but already announced, so I will give them a pass on that).
-A lot of the fun comes from taking on diffictult high level zones with friends before you are the respective level. I can see that maybe this aspect may become less fun later on.

To sum it up: Grab some friends and explore! When you are alone, take your time and read/listen to the lore (and actually feel some feels every now and then). Just don't expect a Fallout 5 (which will come anyway at some point, so don't fret). You will have fun. And you will do just that one more map marker over the hill and then go to bed on time. Yeah, right. ;-)

ps: Maybe there are so few positive reviews, because most of the people who like it are still stuck in the game and will be for the foreseeable future. (-:

It's also run cleaner than any other Bethesda title at launch. While the beta had some hiccups, it's a far cry from the constant missing textures of Fallout 3, the crashes to desktop of Fallout 4, and the regular framerate drops of Skyrim.

I also appreciate that while they could have pursued a system that encouraged "whales," the play experience for someone who just bought the base game is as complete as someone who buys every cosmetic microtransaction. Also so far, I've been able to earn every microtransaction I thought was interesting.

It's also the only Bethesda Fallout title that I feel really understood the core of what made the Interplay/Black Isle Fallouts work politically. It's very charged, with strong statements about the nature of the world.

This game is not your average Fallout game. It incorporates multiplayer and removes human npcs. However it is still just as immersive, perhaps even more.immersive than Fallout 4. The weapon and armor progression is also way better than the previous 3D Fallouts. Overall im going to be putting 1000 hours into this.

As a game designer myself, I think this is a very brave innovation on Bethesda’s part and I give them much respect for this. And I love what they did and I’m playing Fallout from the start of the B.E.T.A. and it’s an amazing big world to explore and learn its story as a vault dweller. Players have been asking for multiplayer Fallout and Elderscrolls for years now. Bethesda has delivered an addicting and fun spin on a Fallout game. While it isn't Fallout 5, its definitely worth picking up and playing if you're a fan of Sandbox MMO's, or games like Borderlands.

The Game that is actually presented is not bad. Certainly not enough to garner the hate it has. The world is well designed, and full of character. The variation in the map is a welcomed change, and I simply love the look of it. Appalachia in the fall is gorgeous! I'd know because it is the only benefit of living here. The world design is fantastic, and flows very well.
There are two reasons this review was not higher,
    1) The lack of NPC's is almost a running joke. Every time I find myself on the cusp of finding a living, breathing, dumb as a rabbit classic Fallout NPC, ther're either dead or fled. For god's sake, I'd even take Preston Garvey.
    2) The delays. By god. The delays between doing anything are terrible. For example, you'll shoot an enemy, hit them, the are able to hit you before your damage registers. It is the thorn in my side that makes me want to put the controller down and rethink everything. Another example is when looting anything the menu has to buffer, sometimes for 5 seconds or more. That's alright, but when the game is centered around looting everything, it is really pestering.

    The Good:
This world is HUGE. If you look at the map I have spent hours in the areas around Vault 76 and Flatwood. Looking at the Map you'll see what I covered is maybe a 4th of the map. There is a LOT left to see.

Gameplay is smooth, feels like a Halfway Survival mode of Fallout 4. You have Food and Water meters and there's disease and germs and rads to deal with, food is also no longer permanently safe, but spoils over time. The mutations are interesting, was weird suddenly having a ridiculously high intelligence.

The world feels very much alive. There was a lot of concern that the world would feel "empty" because of the no human NPCs. I never got this feeling. There is a little bit of a feel of tragedy if you're playing completely alone, but it's akin to I Am Legend type of feeling, not a "This isn't a real place anymore." You emerge to find EVERYONE has died, some as recently as a few days. Finding out why is one of the major drives of the story. But finding them, finding their notes, their holo-tapes, seeing what they were trying to accomplish. You get a sense of tragedy and sadness, but it never once felt empty. Combine that with the abundance of Robots, Super Mutant Vendors, etc and it's a real world. Once I feel a definite pull to try and rebuild and save.

Factions: I wasn't sure how I'd feel about there being Factions when every non PC Human is dead. I thought it'd feel weird. Instead it lets you feel more heroic. When I found the Responders I got to feel like a hero. "These people stood for something, their loss is tragic but I can make sure their mission goes forward."

The C.A.M.P. is a blast, I'm loving that you can literally build anywhere you want, no more working in the boundaries of a defined settlement. I also love that I can move it, so if I find a cooler spot I'm not stuck starting over. (Looking at you first time I found the Lighthouse after I had spent ten+ hours on Sanctuary.)

Leveling is fun and intuitive. I love that we can pick and choose and swap our abilities around. It's silly but it's fun that I can work to have different builds available depending on what I'm doing.

    Bad Thoughts.
The Speed you burn through Food and Water and the speed food goes bad feels a little bit over tuned. I don't have issues with it but I do find it a bit "What, already?" Sometimes when you go to eat something and see it bad.

Combining the Tutorial with the Responder's Lore and Story will make the game somewhat tedious when you make new characters. I really enjoyed hearing about these people's lives after the bombs and how they were trying to help people. I didn't need to hear long drawn out explanations on why you should boil water.

Bugs: I have not experienced any of the really bad bugs I've heard others talk about (Invisible enemies, gear vanishing, etc). But I have had the slowing issue where you just lock in place and sit there for thirty seconds while the servers catch up.

All in all I feel like I'm in a world that's suffered devastation, but the tools are there to rebuild, to avoid those mistakes, to make a better world. Which is what I wanted back when I was first told what 76 was going to be.

I have been thoroughly enjoying this game. Exploration is one of my favorite parts about the Fallout series and the map has amazing new locations, scenery, and environments to explore. I am also enjoying the expanded crafting system for armor and weapons. The story has been pretty good up to this point. Getting quests from Holotapes, Notes, or wandering into a location has not been bad at all. I am concerned I will miss Holotapes or Notes for quests though. I imagine it will get better as I dive in more. I've enjoyed both PvE and PvP. And I LOVE the graphics - a noticeable improvement since FO4 regardless of what detractors say. These are the same people who didn't care for FO4's graphics which were good at the time. They'll never be happy.

There are some things that are frustrating though such as:
    1) Stash limit is VERY small and frustrating. I find myself over-encumbered constantly with no where to put junk or items because my stash is already full. I get that everything having weight is a part of the realism...but it shouldn't be so strenuous and time consuming to deal with. And a larger stash (double if not triple the size) would alleviate this.
    2) Bugs are prevalent at launch. The one that is MOST frustrating has to do with the Social menu. Adding folks as friends or to your team can just not work sometimes...and that ruins the biggest part of the game. I've also gotten to a point in the main question where I need to kill someone annnnd I can't seem to get him to respawn after another player already killed him.
    3) PvP is fun...but i accidentally shot someone's CAMP and I immediately became wanted. The subsequent chase and killing I endured were hilarious. But the punishment did not meet the crime.
    4) Vendors have been crap thus far. I haven't seen them replenish inventory/caps once since the Beta began ANNND that is annoying as crap because it is a primary way to rid myself of inventory. This leads back to the Stash/over-encumbrance issue.
    5) NPCs...obviously there aren't any and it makes for a different kind of game. It can feel a bit empty at times. Holotapes and such do well to fill this void but I do miss walking into an NPC city with numberous vendors and stories.
    6) CAMP building limit is awfully low and frustrating for someone who pumped 500+ hours in Fallout 4 due to settlement building.

Highly recommend playing this game if you are a fan and veteran of the Fallout series for the same reasons I am. But if you are looking for a traditional Fallout experience or it is your first time - Play FO:NV, FO3, and FO4. THEN consider getting this afterwards and I think you will enjoy it. If you are looking for a PvP game...this may become one in time but for now the Workshops/PvP hasn't flushed out as people are just exploring/questing/leveling.

Player interactions really make this game what it is. The design encourages players to work together or sometimes fight each other for factories in order to gain resources. This makes many encounters tense when meeting a new player. On the road it is a little more safe, with other players having little benefit from attacking you. Until you shoot back they do almost no damage which prevents griefing. It's a weird approach but works rather with their implementation.

So I've been playing the game since it came out. A life long fan of the Fallout Series in general. I won't deny it has it's bugs. My experience though has been much different than most of the reviews here.

Partially due to the fact that since the release of Fallout 3 I've been wanting a almost co-op Fallout game. To me the game is not dead. I generally always run into a few folks every session. I've enjoyed my time playing up to 40hrs already! With a good friend of mine. We've explored many of the games awesomely designed areas. Figured out various mysteries and clues. We've garnered a solid appreciation for the games ACTUAL story so far. When someone says 'No Story and Dumb Quests.' They've clearly not played more then 4hrs and gotten through the gosh durn Tutorial quests.

There are issues of course. Stash needs to be greatly increased in the amount of weight it can hold. The Engine is old and could use a lot of love or a new one. That's a given. The Perk Card system can be pretty hectic and confusing in the beginning. Making it tough to plan ahead unless you actually 'look up online' when you unlock certain perks. It's difficult to trade with others the interface for it is clunky and not always very responsive. While earning caps is pretty dreadfully slow. A player driven economy would be awesome and a welcomed addition to the game. I've personally only encountered minor bugs. Dropping something for a friend instead of trading it, will sometimes cause the 'bag' to disappear. Sometimes after killing mobs those bodies will also disappear and lastly sometimes a player won't load in on my screen (If we're in a team).

If you played Fallout for the exploration and the adventure of the Wasteland then this game will be more than a treat. Even better if you've got one or two friends then this game will exceed expectation. I promise you one thing if you play up to 10hrs you'll understand just how big the world is and how full of life it can be. We've come across a few player bases that were pretty neat. Ultimately the game is solid. Needs more love but as it stands it's a solid game. There is story, it's fun. There's plenty of neat holotape stories to uncover and taking photos of the various things in the world that will become my loading screen is a awesome touch. Get the game and judge for yourself, please do not let the negative reviews effect you in such a distasteful manner.

The same bug launch seems to be happening with Fallout 76, but amplified because they have the extra factor of being online to contend with.
I've had a lot of fun despite the bugs and server issues, even if i played solo for my first 35 levels of the game. The real fun of the game is the player interaction, alone you might be irritated because of some weird bug, but with friends it's something you can all laugh at together.
The big boy "Scorchbeasts" seem like bullet sponges at first, but when you start getting to the same level as them it's not much of a hassle anymore, although the loot they drop could be better.
Base building could still need fixing as a lot of players are reporting that they can't put their base down anymore because of "floating objects", but this will be fixed most likely.
The main story is pretty enjoyable, if you don't mind reading a little and listening to audio tapes, actually this game might have the best voice acting of all the Fallout games i've played to date. There is an infuriating and hilarious quest involving the DMV, which is part of the main questline, though let me warn you, it's almost too realistic, at first i was mad but i couldn't help laughing, the whole thing was like a Monthy Python sketch.
If you look around, there is a lot of untold stories, this one place which was a medical supplies shop had an obscene amount of skeletons inside and had a note mentioning getting ready for "The Skeleton Wars".
Frame rate, field of view can all be edited. Granted in a pretty roundabout way since it's not actually in the in game menu.
At any rate, in it's current state i'll give it a 7/10, has potential to be a lot better than it currently is with a good round of bug fixes, mod support is coming down the line as well, and always improves all Beth games massively.

If anyone's wondering i'm at level 55, and I haven't yet completed the final quest for the game.

We live in a time when hate sells even more than the video games themselves, and it seems that many reviews are looking for that way, Fallout is not a perfect game but of course it is not garbage and you can appreciate the effort and love deposited in this game.
Thanks Bethesda, I hope that for the next one instead of an 8/10 it will be a 9/10.

Great game. Full of content, tons of players to team up with at any time, tons of lore and dialog, enriched story, and hours on hours of faction missions. Amazing Fallout MMO that finally came to be and is getting better by the day. 110 hours in and I have yet to even scratch the surface of what the current content has to offer.

Fallout 76 represents a big disappointment and the lowest point of the series so far. Riddled with bugs, repetitive and dull gameplay, nonexistent story and outdated graphics, it fails as a both multiplayer and singleplayer experience for fans and newcomers alike.

Miracles do happen once in a while and No Man’s Sky proved that sometimes it is possible to get back on your feet even after a terrible failure. Right now though Fallout 76 is botched spectacularly on so many levels that even talking about this game is a waste of time. [01/2019, p.46]

An unfinished game with bifurcated identity and in an almost dysfunctional state. It's hard to build on a bad base, that will never change. Like the war. [Issue#292]
