    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This game is a pile of sh.t. Some days the enemy spawn is so bad ,that you can't play the game, that was last day playable. The bugs are mostly as the same as at release date. Developers are doing newer and newer events, little contents ,but the bugs are the same. Godrays, bugged npc, bugged map, bugged missions, bugged weather effects.… Expand

    Fallout 76 is the most disappointing game of 2018. Filled with bugs, terrible graphics and an overall bland, repetitive and boring gameplay. Bethesda should feel ashamed for what they've done and I seriously hope that TES 6 and Starfield flop too, just so that I can see this terrible company burn to the ground.

    I initially gave this a 7 because i was enjoying it to begin with. I was finding the world interesting to explore and enjoying the sandbox nature as well as improving my gear and skills. I also had some fun interacting with other players for a bit. 30 hours in it started to feel a bit boring only due to generally just finding the same old scrap, and fighting dull enemies. Worst case beingI initially gave this a 7 because i was enjoying it to begin with. I was finding the world interesting to explore and enjoying the sandbox nature as well as improving my gear and skills. I also had some fun interacting with other players for a bit. 30 hours in it started to feel a bit boring only due to generally just finding the same old scrap, and fighting dull enemies. Worst case being the scorched but even other enemies don't feel that exciting. So i thought to myself, i'm going to get more into the main quest-line. But compared to quests from Fallout 4 the ones here felt very dull and that was when i realised this was not a good game and needed a lot of work to be improved.
    Does it still have potential to be a good game? Maybe, but i think bethesda are kind of hamstrung by using an engine that was never designed to be online. That's why we have such a low player count per server. But expanding on the PVP (which would need higher player count) and adding human npcs, settlements and raiders, maybe in a new zone to the east would help improve things.    … Expand

    I was actually looking forward for an empty world, being a builder and a pioneer in a dangerous frontier. That's what I expected when they said there was going to be no human NPCs. I didn't expect any/many moral choices to be made. I've found some of the stories I found in the game interesting and I think there's a lot of potential. These are the factors that made me give any points to this game.

    However the technical implementation has been sub par by a large margin. T-posing enemies, wildly buggy EVERYTHING, truly underwhelming combat and quite honestly it doesn't even look that great.

    I really wanted to like this game but I just can't at its current state. This was the last time I pre order anything from Bethesda. They have utterly failed. I'll probably give this another go once the worst bugs have been fixed, but I'm not holding my breath. I'm no longer looking forward for the next Elder Scrolls or Starfield and that makes me sad.

    I would not recommend spending your money on this game, unless they fix the bugs and you enjoy an empty and desolate world where you need to find the content, instead of being given content.    … Expand

Worse yet is the fact that this is just outside the Amazon price match window, so I can't even recoup a few bucks on this waste of drive space.     I like TES and Fallout games because they are immersive. Fallout 76 is not immersive because Bethesda can't account for the unrealistic or idiotic actions, appearances, etc of other players. Their names, clothing, manner of movement, etc just don't make sense from a third person perspective. I'd play a Bethesda game if they go back to relying on NPCs, but not any more like this.

    There is a lot of bugs and a lot of FPS dropping in this game. A very little story in the game, there is about few NPCs. It just looks the same as Fallout 4. There are mods for this game but not so big to change the core game. The gunplay mechanic is crap.
    V.A.T.S., it's just crap. It can go from 85% to 0% when the enemy moves to quick. V.A.T.S. is just a crappy aimbot.

    Unfortunately just bought the game. My critics

    - broken game mechanics
    - world feels empty
    - terrible UI (probably for designed for console players)
    - Pay2Win elements (repair kits)
    - still a lot of bugs
    - boring game play

    Conclusion: I want my money back! Shame on you Bethesda!

    As I have leveled up and discovered more gear, perks, and locations I have only discovered more (game breaking) bugs and uninteresting and unrewarding objectives. This game has poor CoOp mechanics, and frightfully horrible PvP mechanics. Does it make up for this with an interesting story and dialogue like other Fallouts? No, there is no dialogue.     I have launched 2 nukes so far (the ultimate objective in the game). My first launch, I killed the Scorchbeast Queen (basically the final boss) and got jack **** for my reward because it's a random loot drop, even though I spent thousands rounds of ammunition killing it. My second launch, I literally didn't get anything because the server failed to load in any of the items on enemies that I killed. Wow. **** game, don't buy.    … Expand

This game feels like cheap budged free to play knock of of fallout, if that would be the case, ok no problem. If it's not being boycotted now and Bethesda being called out loudly among other "triple A" developers, then this will become a permanent trend in future, where money making is TOP priority, and then maybe the player.

    Insanely, and absolutely terrible, I've been a fan of the whole fallout series since the first, got Platinum trophy in Fallout NV, 3 and 4, and I must admit that Fallout 76 came as something totally unexpected, since the stuff they putted on it was supposed to be on the 4, also the cost of it and the stupid micro transactions bethesda has created its just ashaming

    I did genuinely enjoy the base game.
    But instead of putting real effort into fixing the game, instead they focused on adding in monetization features, and each time they "fix" something 10 more things get worse.     Bethesda have made it clear they just don't care, and are incapable of releasing a polished game.
    Hell have any of their fallout and elderscrolls games in recent decades ever been polished?
    I don't think they have, they like to release broken games, and let the community fix it for them.
    but when they cannot rely on the community to repair their game, you get the mess that is FO76.
    While there could be a great game here, bethesda wont be able to deliver it.

    Fallout 76 is by no means an award winning game, but its no where near deserving of the hate bashing its been getting, seems the hate is being thrown in large part by the ignorant masses who have not actually taken any time to try the game, or even find real information about it, the amount of misinformation about the games content is crazy, and those who immediately want to hate it jump on the fake news and just ignore anyone trying to tell them otherwise.

    YES the game was very overpriced on release, but prices have come down, the game is NOT empty, there is a LOT of content that will keep you going for some time, the game is set to release periodic content updates to keep more coming in, including new vaults opening and new factions cropping up.

    You are playing though as one of the first people to leave a vault, of course there is not the same level of life as the other games, it makes sense.

    The game plays pretty much like Fallout 4, with a few extra bells and whistles, and MP added on top to make it a small scale MMO.

    The game has its issues, but its NOT a broken disaster that others would have you think.
    I dont have a high end system, i57600k 8gb ram and a 1070, and i run this on max graphics at 1080p
    with a solid 60 fps, i get the occasional hiccup but a lot of that could be server related, the servers where not set that well, but have been getting regular stability updates, and its gotten better.

    If you are interested in the game, don't listed to the hate train, its lying to you.
    If you liked fallout 4, there is a VERY high chance you will like 76 and play the hell out of it.    … Expand

The game is 90% reused assets from skyrim and fallout 4, and they have the gall to sell you skins from fallout 4 for more than the entire game + dlc are worth. Two skins from nuke world are sold for $18 of atoms, for an example. Even EA sells you NEWUpdate: After 100s+ hours of play, the game has not only gotten buggier, but it's become waaay more evident that it's a greedy asset flip.     Additionally, the story and setting would be a million times better if they just rolled the in-universe clock back a little while the where all the humans were dying instead of dead. We have terminal entries and notes about all these cool apocalyptic events as the scorched expanded, and we don't get to be there. Instead we get to fight buggier, damage spongier alduin as the final boss.

    Final score: 3/10 instead of 6/10.

    Fallout 76 is a good concept and has enjoyable core gameplay. However, as the opening days grew on the servers started acting funny and bugs and glitches became more common. Additionally, the day 1 patch that was promised never arrived (on PC): it's still version 1.0.0.6 like during the last of the beta.

    Locations and quests tend to be hit and miss, but overall they're ok enough.

    The economy and item storage limitations however hurt this game the most: you can neither store items nor sell them easily, as merchants have small, slow replenishment cap pools, and are linked in a handful of factions, and you can't barter either, and even when you buy something the merchant only has a fraction of what you paid with afterwords (about 1/4), so you can't even trade for your caps back.

    These issues shouldn't be hard to fix and yet there's only been vague promises, and they ultimately relegate what could have been a 7-8/10 to a 6/10.    … Expand

    Just buyed Fallout 76 some days ago, then, the game just dont work here on Brasil, the latency problens are so big here because of the servers position (i guess they are in North America?), so we get 200+ms ping on actions in Brazil as you get 40-50ms in EUA.

    I've owned this game for 3 weeks and have tried to play every day I've had off, unfortunately I only have a little bit over an hour of play time. The server constantly crashes and kicks me off. Today when I loaded it up, I was missing all my ammunition.they should of fixed the bugs before releasing it. I don't even like multiplayer, I only bought xbox live to play this game and have noI've owned this game for 3 weeks and have tried to play every day I've had off, unfortunately I only have a little bit over an hour of play time.     2019 Stopped playing at lvl 26 because I realised that you can't respec - fun game but don't want to play again 3 days to reach lvl 26. (this is really a no go for me..)
    There are some bugs.. but it wasn't such a big problem.
    Fun game even if you play alone but maybe you should wait another half a year... and select a spec you want to play before (WTF? no way.. wait until they fix the spec problem.. then maybe - play it - or not.    … Expand

    And then ... there was a crisis, a crisis that never changes, and I find out that InterPlay and BlackIsle can no longer work on projects, and even the company that did Tactics - Micro Forté, also does not want to do it, and then I realized that this is probably all ...
    According to the law of the genre in the gaming industry, everything returns to normal in 8 years (Blizzard is so fond of doing it) and I find out that part 3 is coming out, you have no idea how glad I was to hear that! Then a bunch of add-ons came out and all that, I played again, naturally no one expected or expected that the game would be in turn-based mode as before, because the 21st century is in the yard!
    And as if I did not hesitate at the beginning, but I also liked the game as a whole, because this is the very same Fallout, just version 2.0 from already 5 companies (you know, 7 nannies, and a child without an eye (I just counted ZeniMax ))
    But I forgave them everything, because I was waiting for the game no matter what. Whatever it was, I would love it, and that’s what happened ...
    And not having time to play enough in part 3, it comes out NEW WEGAS, and then just again BABAH !!! the same 3 Fallout, but as with the 2 part, all that we love is only many times bigger and better!
    Thanks to the 6 companies (nanny) Obsidian, so that so finalized and worked the game ...
    Then 4 years pass, and here we have - tadam - Fallout 4 ... and again I am very pleased with the game, no matter what it is, but after playing it, I understand that something is wrong with it, and I decided to read it first in my life , someone else's comments, and I see that the entire Internet is pouring mud from all the hoses on it! ... I thought, oh God, if they don't calm down, or no one will intercede in Fallout 4, they will ruin the game again the same way they did this is about 10 years ago, but then the noise seemed to subside, and I’m so, well, thank God, there are add-ons for Far Harbor, Nuka-World, etc. then VR, everything seems to be satisfied, everything is quietly calm, except that Todd Howard’s heart is in the spirit. Apparently there was a huge scar! ... and because of the trolls, he decided, so who the hell does it matter, no matter what we do, the game will still be spit up, you do it well, they don’t like it, you do it well, they’re wrong again, you squeeze it the last juice - people are burning and pouring acid again! and here, all his sadness and sadness showed itself!

Video games are just a hobby. I was failing before F76, but I was actively trying. I was even enjoying my CBT/CRT (Cognitive Behavioral/Remediation Therapy) of playing video games for fun, and working on them to learn how to create video game software.

    F76 was such a blatant disregard for anti-consumer practices that 7 months later I'm struggling to even participate in video games, game design, or game development. This product was a asset flip cash grab scam, rip off, and a poorly made product while doing that. F76 started a garbage fire that burned all the way back to Morrowind, and continues to burn into the future for at least 11 years.

Is there a story? Yes. Does the environment change AT ALL as you play through the "story" and experience it? Not at all. The beauty of past Fallout games was that every action you made as you progressed had a consequence in the world. When you made a critical mission decision, you would hear about it on the radio a few hours of gameplay later, relationships in the world would change, and you would feel like you were molding the beautiful virtual worlds as you spent your time exploring them. They were wonderfully immersive games. Even when the gameplay was cluttered by base building and junk hauling in Fallout 4, those base themes/mechanics were still present and very well done... This game is not a game for Fallout fans. It is a game for MMORPG players who want a change of scenery like a Fallout setting. I put in the time to make sure I wasn't missing the point, and the game hasn't been played again since. If you are an MMORPG fan, there are a lot of games that will serve you better than this one.     I love the ambiance of fallout 76, the music, the grit, the desolate feeling. I waited a year to play and I have played to level 25. I will not be playing again until they fix the performance. No matter what I do I cannot get this game to not run like a turd. I have a 4790k at 4GHZ with 32GB of system ram and a 1080 Strix with 8 GB of video ram and even on low settings and low screenI love the ambiance of fallout 76, the music, the grit, the desolate feeling. So 3 years ago fallout 4 was released which was honestly better than fallout 76 because it actually had a story which was in my opinion more appealing than coming out of vault no story before the explosion you just appear in a vault just going to reclaim west Virginia and I know half of fallout 4 was about reclaiming Boston and finding shawn but still if in fallout 76 you can launch nukes the servers should be able to handle this and why only multiplayer.… Expand

    I originally gave this game a 0 and pointed out its many flaws that it had at the time. I'm very pleased the team has been able to patch this game and improve it so much over what I was playing back in Dec. Now, it's not only fun to play, but there's a ton to do whether you have an hour to play, or a whole day.

    With the next patches and the roadmap that was provided, it looks like this game is only going to continue to get better. It's definitely not everyone's cup of tea, but give it a shot if you're a fan of Fallout and want to join other Wastelanders in Appalachia. If multiplayer isn't your thing, stick to Adventure mode and stay away from the griefers in Survival.

    Edit after Fo1st: if you're into cash grabs, go ahead and pick this up. Everything is monetized now and the bugs are still prevalent. Don't waste your time as there's tons of other good games out there.

    Somehow this game went from bad, to good(with a ton of potential), but due to Bethesda's greed it's not worth your time anymore.    … Expand

FO76 fails on every survival task. You lose your plants, you lose your ammo, you lose your base, and you lose your weapons.     I mostly prefer this game, because I experienced it, and this kind of experience is good to best, not to mention the updates we will get in the future! Don't get me wrong, the bugs can be a bit annoying but not game breaking. I mostly shrug one and move along when I encounter one. About the gameplay: You loot resources if you want(just like in Fallout 4), some quests need some resources to progress. But when you loot resources by just grabbing them up, the game doesn't feel grindy, it's just like Fallout 4 in mechanics. You won't ecounter NPCs, the game feels empty BUT the WHOLE game is a Pre-sequel to the other Fallout games, and THIS is THE ambience of the game. You can find out why this game is empty, because the story is all about investigating the "why and where".

    About the atomic shop and microtransactions:
    Feels like a money grab first, but after jumping in, you can earn atoms by completing quests, levelling up, completing daily and weekly challenges. I managed to get 1800 atoms overall by just playing 30 hours/ getting to level 33. A power armor paint(for T-45, T-60, X-01 armours unlocked account wide) costs 1400-1800 atoms, and I nailed one by just playing the game. If you find in-game microtransactions expensive, try thinking strategically. Buy the game discounted for like 30 euros(instead of the original 60), then spend the other 30 for juicy cosmetics IF YOU WANT, I must underscore the "optional" for you of course. :)

    Have fun playing the game if you bought the game after seeing this review, and watch out for deathclaws in early levels! ;)

    I have found out they have this subscription, for this half assed game that I've been giving my hope for months. This is utterly disqusting. Bethesda should be ashamed, this is the least they could do. Their reputation went down in the toilet, and my hope for any future Fallout releases too. Oh, and to mention: Good future DLCs cancelled because of this **** or at least delayed. Money talks, Bethesda, for you at least, but you won't crawl your reputation out of this mess anytime soon.

Also there is an issue of too high level mobs in low level areas, like a level 10 ghoul attacked me when i was level 3, and a level 45 glowing snallygaster guarded the quest things i needed to retrieve (I was level 16Mediocre and Boring. Its not absolutely terrible, but the issue is that it just gets boring quickly. I reached level 33 and gave up. The quests become longer and longer. Also there is an issue of too high level mobs in low level areas, like a level 10 ghoul attacked me when i was level 3, and a level 45 glowing snallygaster guarded the quest things i needed to retrieve (I was level 16 btw). My favourite part has to be the building. You got a decent ammount of choice for free stuff (trust me, a lot of cool stuff is locked behind a paywall). It wouldnt be that much of an issue, but they started adding utility objects. The Personal Terminal and the Punch bowl are free, but the better ones, collectatron which collects free junk at a relatevely decent pace (Slower than a workshop harvester), and a fridge in which you can put food items to make them decay slower, are locked behind the atom paywall.
    Building is well done, but with so much content locked in the atomic shop, and the miniscule budget that does not really allow you to make anything relatively big along with a very small building area, it is not that great.
    The world is very well designed, with a lot of intresting locations, but the problem is that it feels empty. They are atleast working on a new mode, where npc will be a thing. For now you got a bunch of clones of diffirent robots. You got Merchants, and Mr.Handies. While there are a few more that dont really matter.

    The Story is just a bunch of notes and holotapes, which i dont bother to read or listen to.

    Unlike in fallout 4, you dont have all the plans for weapons, buildings, you gotta unlcock them, but certain weapons still need perks to be crafted. The problem is that the plan item itself does not warn you of that. This is a problem for vendors, because weapon plans are pretty expensive cap-wise, so you could buy a plan that you learn, only to realise you cant craft it because you need a perk.

For example: for some people you will periodically not be able to move your character in the game, you need to go into setting files to change the FPS cap, need to go into settings to remove depth of field, you have to complete every single quest twice because it only advances the story of the party leader (my personal favorite), your character only has to ability to sprint (actually jog) 30-40metres, dehydration is a thing, I think that is about it although I'm sure there is much more. Oh also, sometimes you cant tab back into the game. Please dont waste your money on this game, although it is almost worth it just to laugh at how bad it is.… Expand

    I love the rest of the fallout series, but this one is a buggy mess. I lost tons of items I worked hard to grind to glitched storage, and the pay to win just ruined the game for me.

    It kinda feels like a lite/worse version of Fallout 4. The new missions with npcs made the game better, but the stories are still not really interesting and way to short. I wouldnt play this game solo, because it just doesnt feel fun, i only played it with friends. Why did they even make a cap for the players chest this just ruins the fun. A change a while ago completly ruined the game for me tho. Enemies now scale with your level so there is not really any player progression. A low level will deal as much damage to an enemy as somebody with a higher level since the enemies scale to each player. When you get stronger over time the enemies in the same area get stronger aswell so there is not point for me to upgrade my character. The System before was way better, where enemies would have a certain fixed level in a specific area. I also prefered the perk system in Fallout 4 where you could unlock every single perk. It is a grind to unlock every perk, but this was another reason that kept me playing. Why couldnt they just make a Fallout with coop combatibility instead of an online Fallout. Im just gonna stick to the other Fallout entries for now.… Expand

    It's hard to define all the reasons this game is bad. Disgusting business practices? Bad customer support/service? Crap forum moderation? No cohesive plan for DLC releases. Day one game breaking bugs persistent through year two? Yea, this game isn't even worth this review. Done.

    I played this once on Xbox game pass and I hate it. Probably because I'm not such a multiplayer fan, also microtransactions and greedy developers.

    The graphics are ugly as sin with absurd post-processing effects. They made combat worse than Fallout 4, so they removed the fun part. The reward for my first quest was a slot machine token. A quest giver told me to go grind until I was level 20. So many random annoying events like "kill [0/x] of [insert name here]".     This game should 've been a Multiplayer add-on for Fallout 4 because it's basically the same game without an offline mode and that's it.

    A complete wasteland of wasted potential. Elder Scrolls Online was a major failure, and it seemed like it would be Bethesda's greatest failure. However this game managed to take that title. Not only is this the worst game Bethesda has ever made, it is the biggest letdown in over a decade as Bethesda fell from great heights to this pathetic mess of a game.

    It is really disgusting that after you pay 60 dollars/euros you will have to get a gamepass like subscription to enjoy the full game, and its not just skins, but armors and completely different game modes. Fallout 4 looked better and the building is not fun anymore and it has no point. Literally no choices in an RPG and it doesnt have some of the fun gameplay mechanics in other Fallouts.

    Fallout 76 represents a big disappointment and the lowest point of the series so far. Riddled with bugs, repetitive and dull gameplay, nonexistent story and outdated graphics, it fails as a both multiplayer and singleplayer experience for fans and newcomers alike.

    Miracles do happen once in a while and No Man’s Sky proved that sometimes it is possible to get back on your feet even after a terrible failure. Right now though Fallout 76 is botched spectacularly on so many levels that even talking about this game is a waste of time. [01/2019, p.46]
