    There just isn't much here. I played this for a few hours during the free week from 6/10/19-6/17/19. I'm a big fan of the series, but this just seems empty. I hoped that maybe after 7 months of work, the initial mistakes had been fixed.

I just don't know what's supposed to drive the player experience. There are no characters. The only story is one giant fetch quest. The game actively punished me for exploring how mechanics work before the story had drip fed me how to use them. There were meters that ticked down, and resting restores health *very* slowly, maybe 1% per second.

    The end result was that this was a game that seemed to be all about busywork. I don't need that. I have a day job. I'm not really interested in spending 2% of my gaming time for the day watching my character sleep.    … Expand

    I played Fallout 76 when it was first released and was not impressed. Many bugs, server lag, no story and general lack of interesting content. Many of the games issues stem directly from being an online only game. I am constantly playing will lag, damage takes about half a second to register and many shots seem to miss despite aiming at the target. Other players are also a big issue, not necessarily by intent, but many time i have encountered other players during 'events' and they are often much higher level than me, meaning i am basically useless during the event as higher level players are just one hitting every enemy, whilst i have to shoot them several times. I have had other people approach my area after i have killed all the enemies, only for the other player to inadvertently trigger all the enemies to respawn and at a higher level. Leaving me surrounded by high level enemies that i have already killed.
    There is also next to no story in the game. No NPCs. No plot motivation. The small amount of meaningless story is delivered through occasional holotape recordings and terminal entries or notes to read. But even those are hard to actually consume seeing that the game is online, you can't pause. Therefore stopping to read a note or hack a computer leaves you standing there whilst enemies are free to attack you. Not very immersive in the story if i feel i need to rush read so i dont get attacked.
    In general the game feels like a chore to play, with nearly no motivation to play. No story. And the Looting really isnt very great either, i rarely find any stash of interesting loot and i dont feel rewarded for any of my actions in game.

    I have just come back to the game to give it another go. Maybe they fixed the issues from launch?
    Well, not really. Certainly LESS bugs, but still buggy. Lag issues still persist (likely on part because my internet is trash, but despite that other game have very little issues with lag). And the game still feels very empty and pointless.

    Cant recommend this game at all really. Some people seem to enjoy it, and i guess if you can see past all the issues, then maybe you could enjoy it, playing with a group of friends may be enjoyable for a short time?
    If they added the option to play entirely client side (offline), then that would likely improve at least my experience. But even with that, the game will still be empty and pointless.

    As a side not regarding reviews of this game: Many people think its fair to give this game a 0 whilst others think 10. Both are very wrong, really no game is zero, and very few would have justified reason for giving them a 10. Perhaps people should think more fairly about how they review rather than be angry at the game or at people who say bad things about something you enjoy. Fallout 76 is objectively a bad game, that doesn't mean no one can enjoy it.    … Expand

I'm not sure I can even say I'm disappointed, because this was where things appeared to be going eventually with Bethesda's take on the franchise. Bethesda's writing was never its strong point, with their takes on the Fallout universe, in particular, falling short in comparison to the likes of Fallout 1, 2 and New Vegas. With Fallout 76, they've virtually abandoned it altogether, reducing literally all storytelling to reading scraps of paper and listening to audiotapes. It's simply staggering that Bethesda made these design choices, and leaves me with little enthusiasm for any other titles they are due to produce in the coming years. I might come back to 76 in a year but probably only if they finally put proper NPC's in it because a Fallout game without real characters (and no, I don't value random encounters with a handful of anonymous players as an adequate replacement - I shouldn't have to make my own fun from scratch in a Fallout game) is simply an empty, literal wasteland of content.… Expand

    Bethesda took my money and left me with swamp itch, radiation poisoning, lag, disconnects, and a remarkably uninspired multiplayer take on Fallout. It looks like a 10 year old game, and feels incomplete in single player and multiplayer aspects. Maybe Bethesda plans to patch this thing up and make it something worth playing, but I am not waiting around to see.

    I have played this game since the so-called "B.E.T.A.", and successfully completed about 98% of the quests. I have been able to play the game on maximum graphical settings with no problems, until the December 19 patch. The day before the patch my game began crashing to desktop about 45 seconds into loading. I tried using the supplied    TL/DR: DO NOT BUY THIS GAME IN THE CURRENT STATE

I tried using the supplied validate/repair tool, I reinstalled the game, I reinstalled the launcher and the game, I opened a support ticket. Support told me that because my CPU fell below spec that they couldn't (read wouldn't) help me. I posted the same information on a thread in the support forum and it was censored. This game and the level of interest Bethesda is showing in helping their customers has finally broken my faith in them. I doubt that I will ever buy a product from them again.    … Expand

    The lack of polish and lazy development game mechanics in this game is something I would expect from an early access indie publisher that dumps their garbage all over steam. The graphics are pretty decent especially when it comes to    Fallout 76, is a poorly done fallout 4 multiplayer mod at best, on a larger map, with microtransactions and an absolutely staggering amount of bugs.

    The lack of polish and lazy development game mechanics in this game is something I would expect from an early access indie publisher that dumps their garbage all over steam.

    The graphics are pretty decent especially when it comes to foliage, the rest of the textures seem to be recycled from fallout 4, the game play and weapon handling outside of vats is identical to fallout 4, with the only exception being that you are constantly fighting a storage limit in your stash at the mid/late game in FO76. and the small increase coming is nowhere near enough, and the base building limit is absolutely pathetic.

    While i expected the FO76 to have some bugs as all Bethesda games are very buggy anyways, fallout 76 is probably the buggiest AAA, or even early access game ever released and probably will ever be released. it is almost impressive how many there are in this game. From T posed characters, mismatched animation bugs and movement bugs, textures disappearing, containers slow/infinite loading bugs, weapon texture and ads bugs, reload bugs, many many status effect bugs/glitches/exploits, including the weight glitch that is being exploited by many players, equipment durability bugs & status effect bugs, crafting menu bugs, pipboy bugs, cloaking bugs, scope texture misalignment after reloading bug, melee bugs, and base building bugs, enemy spawning bugs, and enemy clipping into the terrain bugs, an impressive variety of quest bugs,and the thousands of bugs you could probably find on the official forums, It is impossible to play for more than 3 mins (other than standing still and even then you would be lucky not to see one) before seeing an immersion breaking or frustrating bug. you could almost pick any random word out of your imagination and there would be at least two or three bugs in FO76 that would relate to it!

    To say that this game needed another whole year in development to fix the bugs alone, is an understatement. let alone add some semblance of a real story not to mention human NPCs, that would have made it fun. people who are giving this a 10/10 must be out of their mind.

    As much as I have tried to enjoy this game and have had some fun at times, I still find myself utterly disappointed, and jared by the incompetence of Bathesda, by what they did to this game and how they charged $60 for the privilege of the most incomplete AAA title of the decade.

    I have been a huge Fallout/Elder scrolls fan for a long time, and to have Bathesda pull this stunt on its loyal fan base is utterly insulting, I swear will never pre-order another title from Bathesda as long as I live. my outlook for Elder Scrolls 6 and Starfield is now nonexistent.    … Expand

Everything in this game is as terrible as the engine. Todd, find the courage to resign! Stop raping Fallout. I'm afraid that the new TES will be the same unfinished and horrible all the same engine!!!

    it sad me that Bethesda become this, i get the bug is normally on their game, but they cant allow this on a Online game where ppl exploit this to get advantages over others, from cap exploit to weapons one and exp one, this game is just a bad joke

The quests were boring, the map was fun to loo at..until you realize that theres really nothing in it. No funny side encounters or mysterious side quests and npcs....just nothing and that makes this hands down the most boring game Ive ever played in my life.… Expand

    The worst crap I've ever played in my life. I'm a BIG Fallout fan since the first Fallout. I'm a big MMO fan aswell. This bugged, unfinished pre-alfa slap in the gamers face crap is NOTHING like a Fallout. If not BIG money from Bethesda and their owner put into marketing, this "nothing" wouldn't be bought by no-one. DON'T BUY IT, DON'T PLAY IT!

With the release of new vegas and then Skyrim the novelty of Bethesda was wearing thin, however, with the release of Fallout 4(a game I was genuinely excited for) the never-ending pattern of poor quality, the use of an aging engine, unbelievable persistent bugs present since oblivion days and an uninspiring story. all I can say is, thank god for mods.

    Fallout 76 is the worst game ever created by the publisher but fortunately for them, there are people who enjoy the opportunity to play fallout with friends and family. However, this does not excuse the fact that this is a "boring as **** game. NO NPC's except quest giving robots, A boring as hell story(if you can call it a story), terrible enemy encounters, sucky at best PVP and early 2000 graphics that want to make me throw up.
    It's sad when small indie game developers are doing a far better job producing quality games with a compelling story for $20-$40 and Bethesda wants $60 for a sub-par game with in-game currency and purchases. Most games like Fallout 76 are generally free-to-play with in-game purchases, the best example is always WARFRAME.

    Don't purchase this game, find a trusted reviewer and then make your decision. Don't let Bethesda off the hook for this cheap attempt at money grabbing.    … Expand

    Fallout 76 a controversial idea of a multiplayer Fallout game, made using the same engine from Fallout 4, a engine that was built for a single player experience that has been jury-rigged to function with multiple players and it shows as the performance is poor, graphics in regard to lighting, shading and the UI are all worse that Fallout 4's, a lack of a significantly developed story that amounts to reading holotapes and terminals before killing something to complete the objective, none of the depth from past Bethesda RPGs is here everything is simplified and greatly reduced in its functionality as a game mechanic/feature, Items that once could be found in many places of Fallout 4 and cost no extra real world money now can be bought for hefty sums outfits can cost 600-900 atoms, so if you want a red rocket jumpsuit cosmetic (the very same outfit in Fallout 4) have to either slowly earn Atoms in game or pay $5 for 500 atoms which is not enough to buy so you need to spend another $5 to then have left over Atoms to spend, everything about this game is Lazily thrown together, all for a quick cash grab on the name Fallout and its fans who once loved Bethesda and now view them as about as trustful as EA to make games.    … Expand

    Such an awful, lonely, boring, monotonous, repetitive, clunky, glitch filled piece of poo that I have uninstalled and actually feel robbed of my £40:00.
    I can only hope that the BOSSES that signed off are sacked and the developers that were not listened to and dictated over are promoted and tasked to put this right.

Robots completely disappear in front of you.

    Items vanish from your inventory. Bases disappear, can be rebuilt, but are missing key components. Framerates drop inexplicably or hitch at random. Water goes invisible. Objects get stuck in mid-air. Players spawn inside the foundations of buildings or fall through the ground. Exploits for infinite grenades and XP are plentiful. Animations don't sync up with objects. People get deformed by their power armor. Enemies carry weapons upside down and/or pointing to the sky. Shotgun part layers extend outside their frames. Corpses continue to move after death. And more!

    The game is so bad that Bethesda should be ashamed of themselves.

    There is some fun to be had, but the experience is so heavily overshadowed by the glitches and constant issues that it is hard to enjoy the game. On top of it all, Bethesda chooses to wait to release any patches until December when they should release something -- anything -- right now for the sake of public opinion.

    Cool locations and atmosphere
    Lots of new enemies based on WV folklore (which i think is awesome!!)
    Cons:
    Performance drops
    ENDLESS, ENDLESS, glitches!!!
    Not enough new weapons (Lots copied from fallout 4...)
    Godrays are insanely blinding and details barely render in
    Graphics engine is outdated
    Quests are bland/dull
    Empty world? (NO NPCS!)
    Lore altered to fit to story

    With all that said, I have to give this a 0 and It seriously hurts to do so. I have been playing fallout for my whole life and its really saddening to see this game drop. It feels like this game isn't even finished! I can literally go on and on about the ANNOYING ENEMIES like the scorched and the ghouls that constantly harass me.

I am supposed to hear the holotapes OVER MY TEAMMATES SCREAMING RACIST SH-T IN MY EAR! I cant STAND Bethesda, fallout 3 cemented the franchise, but It being produced by bethesda, I actually couldn't even play that **** when it came out!

    What a shame. Obviously I am not naive to expect a game released to have everything the developers promised, but this buggy, incoherent mess really made me second guess the whole game in itself. I have literally seen better physics and graphics from a Unity game. This is un-excusable. If this is products Bethesda is going to be putting out from now on I can see them going down the sameWhat a shame. I have literally seen better physics and graphics from a Unity game. This is un-excusable.     Games is still buggy, after beta. Is more unstable than Fallout 4, Textures are really bad, and even young moder can make better one. I have no idea have so big company can make so low quality product. Don't buy it if you do return it.

Anyone who tried to launch had an approx. 70 gig game wiped completely off their PC. But this is a review so i wont just talk about the pre-launch.
    For the game itself, I'll make a true list of pro and con

    +Fallout (kinda)
    +Dream of multiplayer came true
    +There are some cool addition in guns and enemies
    +The LOCATION of the game makes it beautiful

    -It is literally a combination of Skyrim / Fallout 4 (look up the coding on the Scorch Beasts.. and Falllout 4 references in the files)
    -The survival is just annoying. food and drink run out stupidly fast even with perks and disease is so common
    -No human npcs and the robots they have are all the same robots from previous games with not many changes to even voices
    -The bugs... dont even get me started. i can make a 5K character review just on that. And i dont want to hear that "new games have bugs" because this garbage is like Fear Factor for gamers.
    -Uses the same old engine they had for ages. (that sucked to begin with)
    -The player interaction is dull, either someone hits you for 10 minutes and breaks all of their weapons (just for you to stimpack for all the hp) or they're babbling and mouth breathing like a mongoloid into the microphone not knowing they are even in voice chat. When they find out they join 90% of players who have turned it off
    -The upgrades and crafting is too much grinding for the little reward it yields.
    -THE STASH LIMIT (i filled my stash limit (with only useful materials, not even weapons) within hours.
    -The constant radio-silence from Bethesda because they know they lied through their teeth the whole time
    -Building is trash.. (enough turrets to defend your base leaves you with a little amount left over to actually personalize while no turrets allows your base to get steam-rolled by enemies. Plus my build limit has been glitched at full with nothing built for 6 days)
    -Lighting / god rays are nauseating and shadow effects are based on your characters orientation to the object.
    -Everything is tied to FPS (reload speed, run speed, etc.) and their solution was to cap the fps at 63 because they "couldn't do anything about it."
    -Support staff blame the games instability on your pc hardware or give you a copy/paste blanket response to justify.
    -End game leaves nothing to do. I killed the Scorchbeast Queen at level 50 and it dropped mediocre loot. I am now level 93 and the items level caps at 50 even though i fight enemies around my level (little guns, big enemies). Making the grind harder and harder for literally 0 reward.
    -Factions are useless. I've done just about all the factions' entire quest lines (about 20min to complete) and all I've gotten was stupid costumes and access to vendors with sub par gear.
    -Boring. There's a big world with nothing to do except mindlessly kill stuff and do gather missions that yield, yet again, useless gear.

    I doubt anyone will even read this far so i feel i'm wasting my time. In conclusion, I could go on for days, but Bethesda's EA level deceit and laziness has shattered my love and trust for the only company in gaming that i still respected. BIGGER let down and over hype than No Man's Sky. Don't understand why this took YEARS to develop this AIDS vector when it was a copy and paste job, but I do understand why i will never buy another Bethesda game, period.    … Expand

    Pros:
    --Story (This one some of you might disagree with me on -- I actually find the story to be extremely interesting, though extremely short. I love the personal tales of West Virginians who did or didn't make it to any kind of shelter. You can see a lot of great storytelling through holotapes and terminals, much like reading a book. That being said, it's pretty questionable how it ties into the lore whatsoever)
    --Lots of potential
    --Fun with friends (though honestly, there's very few things in the world that aren't more fun with friends)
    --Good time waster (Easily sunk 40 hours into the game, at least until it started to get too repetitive for me to want to continue)

    Cons:
    --Glitches and Bugs (easily thousands, at least 20-30 of which completely destroy the playability of the game)
    --No motivating factors to complete quests (In many games like Fallout:NV or Skyrim, there would be quests that you'd receive from a distressed NPC, and you'd feel that motivation to go save their friend/retrieve their special item immediately. Depending on the quest, that even had an impact on the later game! Not so in 76!)
    --Quests are bland and boring (FETCH. QUESTS. I've been racking my brain on this one and I can't think of a single quest in this game that amounted to more than "Go here. Get this item/kill this enemy/clear this dungeon. Return.")
    --Repetitive gameplay (What is there really left to do after launching a nuke and killing the Scorchbeast Queen? Go scramble around for more junk? Complete more fetch quests/events?)
    --PVP (LOL Nobody on Bethesda even thought about how to make this enjoyable. This could be as easy as what World of Warcraft does. Designate PvP and PvE servers, and allow players to choose. No "duel" system, none of that garbage. Let me battle ANYONE within 10 levels of me [to avoid ganking] on a PvP server whether they're aware of it or not. There's no fun in setting up an ambush on another group if they can see you on the map, and if they have to shoot you back to actually engage in combat.)
    --Leveling System (Why do I level up if the levels mean nothing? I understand wanting to keep the game difficult, but the levels don't even matter! As a level 18, I was able to kill multiple level 68 scorched with very few issues, but struggled against a level 20-something Deathclaw.)
    --Price Drop (Are you kidding me? I paid $60 for this game, and less than a week after release, it's selling for $35. I understand you want to sell the game by any means necessary, but my god Bethesda, way to dump on your pre-order/release day fans.)
    --Gameplay Issues (The Pip Boy is designed terribly and the menus are overall clunky. This isn't an issue in single player Fallouts, where the game pauses while you access your menu, but in 76 it is truly a nightmare. Live-action VATS is also poorly executed in my opinion, and I also find that clunky and difficult to use.)
    ***--Bethesda Response to Controversy (I'm sure by now the "canvas to nylon bag" switcheroo is common knowledge, but if not, here's a brief summary: Bethesda's collector's edition of the game cost $200~ and came with a replica T-45 Power Armor Helmet, and a canvas bag to put it in. When people got their orders, they found that the bag is actually nylon. This is false advertising and controversial in itself, but it gets worse.)

    ***They offered 500 Atoms (approx. $5 worth of in game currency) to anyone affected by this. That's a spit in the face alone, but even better is the fact that in the United States, that is legally considered an out-of-court settlement and means that anyone that takes the Atoms deal is not allowed to sue for false/deceptive advertising, which leads me to believe this wasn't even a genuine "Yeah, we messed up, sorry guys", but was in fact a scheme devised to avoid as much legal liability as possible. This is no longer the Bethesda we know and love.)

    This game really has/had the potential to be the best game in the series. After all, I really think all people wanted was a Fallout 5 with co-op. God knows that's all I wanted. Instead I got this mess of a game that, had I waited one week, I could've got for $35 instead of $60.
    It's not the worst game I've ever played in my life. I've had a few funny moments with my buddies. It could've been a good game. That's about all the praise I can muster up for this game.

    I won't be going into what this is as of right now - that one can read everywhere else. I'm going to tell you what this game will never be - it will never be fixed. Engine used to create this game has too many limitations, Bethesda is not able to fix the bugs nor add content requested by people because it is technically impossible. Fallout 76 will stay as is forever.

It was supposed to be the game that him and i would play together and enjoy. We both were very excited to play this game together. In our eyes Fallout 76 was a long time coming for the both of us.

    We both hated the fact that Bethesda cheaped and didnt include any NPCs

    We both hated it used an old ass engine that felt like a single player game with modded multiplayer.

    Any good review for this game is a lie by definition. I`m almost what you could call a fanboy for the Fallout Series. I've been playing them for 20 years. This game does not deserve to be called Fallout. There is no captivating history/quest. The game is overwelmed by bugs.

What kind of a business practice is this that you cannot return a product you don't like and that is BROKEN. That is why the game is not on Steam or any other provider with first world customer protected standards. If you live in the first world and paid by a credit card, dispute it. If you got a 'code' instead of a 'disc copy' as advertised, if you got a plastic bag instead of canvas, take action and protect consumer rights. Wouldn't be too bad if there was a way to completely avoid taking any radiation damage. Another fun bug is that if you do too much damage to an enemy the server will refresh its health for any range weapon you have, meaning that you'll have toI wanted to love this game, but I can't.     I always liked Fallout. Fallout 4 was a downfall. This made it worse, by far. The story is a bad joke, the quest system is repetitive as hell - imagine EA and Ubisoft getting a baby.

The idea is a good one where i found myself enjoying time spent with friends feeling tension build as we develop certain skills that come in handy. In a team someone can specialize in lock-picking one with safe cracking and hacking while crafting can be another's contribution. In the early hours that was exactly it. As you progress dedicating yourself to a skill set was no longer necessary the skill based system is in a word "broken" being able to swap skills mid mission make the grind one person worked for a useless task. The reward of grinding was dropped in my opinion with a buggy quest rinse repeat system that only provides compensation to levels and your experience bar. The reasons we enjoyed fallout are all absent in the version. The NPCs are flat and dull as the informational cards you get to read while waiting for take off. The base building is bland and allows for little more than convenient spawn points which in most situations is still a system that means you spend the first 15 minutes of your mission running and making small talk while getting no major tasks done. Quests are a series of "get those and go here"s which in prior installments meant you would find yourself wandering and happening upon four other quests, this take a fallout's usually well thought out quest system was as exciting as a trip to your local market store searching the shelves for a can of water chestnuts only to realize that you hate water chest nuts the entire time. Within my 50 hours and near 46 levels of grinding on new fallout game i have few memorable moments. I would actually find ways to keep myself entertained while doing missions from watching videos to listening to audio books. All in all i think for a 60$ asking price this game at most would be worth five dollars on a mobile platform like on my phone... This is a step backwards on everything that Bethesda promised us with this release and has made more concerned for future games from the once promising studio.… Expand

It does none of the things either genre does well, and doesn't even manage to have enticing microtransactions. This is an astonishing dumpster fire of a game from a great studio. What a pity.

I got this game not really minding if it had typical Bethesda bugs like enemies clipping through doors sometimes or enemies running around with plastic baskets on their heads.     1. Continually spawning naked or teammates spawning naked after fast traveling. It's a cosmetic issue but it's frequent and annoying. Once my friend who was playing a female character spawned as a naked man.

    2. Friend requests didn't show up in social for about the first month I played so accepting friend requests was impossible.

    3. Enemies that do not take damage. Ran into a very bad scorchbeast encounter with this issue and have ran across several enemies that do not take damage.

    4. Frequent server crashes. Multiple times I've started the game and joined server only for it to immediately crash as soon as I load in.

    5. One time I got stuck on a loading screen but my character spawned into the world anyway and a teammate who wasn't nearby noticed my health bar going down. I was attacked by something and killed while still stuck on the loading screen. So when the game finally loaded, my corpse fell out of the sky and onto the ground.

    6. A teammate and I entered into one of the mines in the game (just a regular dungeon for those of you who haven't played the game) and suddenly she wasn't there. She could see me, but I couldn't even see her at all. The game was treating her like she was on a different server. So I went to "join" her, thinking somehow maybe I was on a different server. When I "joined" her, she was nowhere to be found. Just a face full of enemies.

    7. Teammates or myself showing up invisible with nothing but a bar above our heads. Also invisible enemies.

    8. Quests that are bugged. I have started an entire quest-line with a teammate and only done that questline with them. Yet, if I sign on to continue it with them another day, suddenly one of us doesn't have the quest anymore even though neither of us had completed it. I also had similar with an event. The event triggered for my teammate and never triggered for me so I got nothing for completing it.

    9. The game almost never closes. It just crashes when you try to exit.

    I'm probably forgetting some of the bugs I have encountered. There have been SO MANY. And the things above have happened multiple times. I am a HUGE Fallout fan and I absolutely regret buying this game. Save yourselves the money. In its current state, it's not even worth buying it on sale. It does have it's fun moments but honestly, every single time I play the game I wind up frustrated by all the bugs. The only reason I bother to even try to continue playing it is because I wasted so much money on it. At least I didn't buy the Collector's Edition (definitely don't waste your money on that).    … Expand

    - Bad servers
    - No interesting/funny npc's
    - No real quests, only fetchquests/following holotapes 90% of the time.
    - PVP sucks and nobody does it
    - No real VATS (can't slow down an online game) ;)
    - No improvement from Fallout 4, just an online version of the game minus the interesting quests and npc's etc.

    No more preorders for bethesda from now. For me at least. For that price they had a capability to make a great game but they ruined it. My advise would be start making demos for their games to avoid so much hate form the fans.

What an absolute rip off. Fallout 76 is awful. Nothing like what has been seen before and to top it off it is but impossible to get your money back. Do Not Get this game if youre doing based on past games. You WILL be disapointed. I could Tell you all the ways that it doesn;t work but i only have 5000 characters to do it. Just take it from some one who was a big fan of this franchise. wait until it sells for $20 so you dont feel like you got completely ripped off like I do. 1 to 5 i give it a 2 only because the graphics are not bad. game play a 1. story line a 2. I always wait until a game drops in price before I buy it, I truely thought after buying all the pervious games this was a win win at $60.     Pros: -beautifull crafted World (although 80% Re-used assets from Fallout 4) -Exploring the World -Crafting -Building -looting and shooting (The junk Concept of Fallout 4 is really great) -slight survival aspects Cons: -Disgusting, greedy Macrotransactions (gating of Features with a paywall)    I really love Fallout since 2007, so finally after about 100 hours of gameplay:

    -Exploring the World
    -Crafting
    -Building

    Yes i have spend many hours in this game. i enjoyed exploring applachia slowly and had some hopes for the game in spring. I don't have hope for wastelanders and a think this game will go free to play in the next months and will be abandond next year. The world was empty, and the catalyst that wanted to be the storyline was a lifeless excuse for a dynamic and capturing campaign. The campaign lies solely in reading, not just short entries, but pages and pages and pages worth of text.
    A large part of the interaction within the game relies on people encountering each other, but still tries to let you see through the Fallout window. Yet there are no survivors or NPCs, only game modes and events to try and bring people to an area.
    The overall graphics were a noticeable set back from F4, which is disappointing considering both were made at the same time. The gameplay mirrors what we know to be Fallout as closely as it can, but overall it felt rushed, short handed, and not very well thought out.    … Expand

    With the wastelanders update the game hasn't improved one bit.
    It's still very buggy with a horrible community or gankers and griefers.
    Also duping is still a thing and exploiters are common.

    Graphics are still glitchy and it's a huge grind to get anywhere.

    This is one of the worst games I've ever played.

    And I can't understand why is it. BGS have made good open-world games previously (even though F3&F4 are mostly hated by classique Fallout fans), ZOS keep running really good Elder Scrolls MMO (and they even helped BGS with F76), but the game just bad.
    I only hope, that BGS' next projects will be far better.

    I don't think I need to justify this reveiw with my experience , just watch one of the many hour long documentaries following the fall of Bethesda and you will know exactly why this game is a terrible fail of a cash grab that milks the fan base and treats them like money cattle rather than consumers. A hollow, empty shell of a game designed to appeal to the lowest common denominator and idiot casuals, while sacrificing core fans to the altar of their one fervent god, MONEY.

The game is riddled with bugs and Bethesda should no longer get a free pass for this. It reaches a point where it ceases to be funny, and starts to become grating.

    If you're a fan of games with depth, substance, good writing and characterizations, then do yourself a favor and steer way clear of this, it's not the Fallout you love. but instead an abomination made by devs and publishers who don't give a **** about anything more than bogging their pockets down with as much of your money as they can at the expense of everything else.    … Expand

    Tedious game, buggy mess, bad netcode, bad engine, bad fanboys who claim a turd rolled in glitter tastes fantastic. I'm all for change, for the better. Unfortunately this is a bad change. Even a lot of the positive reviews list some bugs and say the game is only OK to them, then still give it a perfect 10 score! Fanboys disgust me.

    Just the name. A reason for Bethesda to get more money. Same bad engine, even worst because of it being online. Unfinished and unpolished. Don't touch this even with a stick.

I'll explain why but please understand, you are not just getting a game 'different' from the Fallout franchise, you are getting an abomination of game-design that happens to have a Fallout skin. Vault-boy and retro-futurism, stimpaks, psychos and iguana-on-a-stick. That's the ONLY way you can call this a Fallout game. Fallout 76 has no idea what it is.

    1) No humans - what does this mean? A LOT is the answer.
    - No dialogue (all NPCs are robots, or can't be talked to). Takes a toll on RP
    - No quests have any choices, they all have the same result. You go to a place and you kill them all because they're different, and do the action you're required to do.
    - All quests are from robots or holotapes. You just press E on them and wait a minute, or activate a holotape. No personality, and no motivation to complete a quest. A voiceline is this: you are just being asked to do an action somewhere and being subjected to the horrible lore fluff.
    - All humans are players: Players do not even come CLOSE to covering the role of human NPCs in previous games. They always play without sound, and the way the game is made, the only reaction you can have to meeting someone is "oh there's a guy". That's literally all.

    2) Empty world, empty lore
    - Bethesda says 4 times as large, I say 4 times as sparse. Everything is far apart and is NOT more rich than New Vegas' map for instance
    - Exploring without a quest is pointless, you can loot an entire facility and find nothing of use, there's no big reward for clearing a building. The odds of picking up a quest are abysmal as well, you learn to not enter any building that doesn't have a questpointer.
    - A map has so few players that you can play a whole day without meeting anyone. If you go to Flatwoods you'll see 2-3 people, but otherwise don't count on it.
    - Game is filled with lore fluff that has no purpose. Only 1/5 terminals serve a purpose, the rest are filled with stupid lore that has no bearing on impact. In previous games you learned about the location, maybe found something you could apply to find a stash or solve a problem, but here it's utterly useless.
    - No ultimate objective: Remember how we purified the Capital Wasteland's water? Remember bringing peace to a war-torn Mojave? Forget that, you are doing favors for robots in Fallout76, there's no endgoal or build-up, JUST a stream of kill/retrieve quests until you can't take it anymore.

    3) Bad gameplay
    - Perks are even worse than Fo4 where they already botched it completely. First of all, the interface is confusing beyond belief, you apparently select a s.p.e.c.i.a.l point and then get to scroll around and choose which perk you want. The perks however are complete RNG and you can end up not being able to level up how you want to. I went with intelligence for hacking and energy weapons, but only got Hacking 2 at level 23. In old Fallout, each point did something specific. In Fo76 however, taking a mentats is a mystery, special points by themselves don't appear to do something specific except for strength with weight capacity. Second big thing, being an intelligence main for example is not viable at all. You get some bonuses to weapon condition and weapon-modding, but no bonus-damage like strength/perception perks or anything like that. If you go full int, you can just mod weapons slightly more (not much) and _eventually_ hack complicated terminals. Like I said, after maxing int, it was in level 23 I could hack the next level above what int 1 can.
    - PvP is a joke, all players are visible on the map at all times, and if you shoot someone they take 5% damage only. You are then given a bounty, nobody is visible to you anymore and players do full damage to you. People can effortlessly fast-travel close to you and kill you. PvP is one big standoff to see who's dumb enough to shoot first, and then 1-shotting the other player instantly. You only drop junk and a couple caps btw, so the enemy runs at you again with his full inventory still available. The thing that made me uninstall was a guy whose whole strategy was wearing a powerarmor, running close to you, and VATSing to oneshot you. He stimmed endlessly and couldn't be killed.
    - You will be overencumbered every 20 minutes and need a workbench or stashcrate, which WILL run out
    - Scorched and mutants are everywhere in groups and all have guns

    Important: you will see people defend this game. Understand that these are people with a raging boner for the fallout aesthetic and nothing else. If they get to open it up and eat buffout and shoot brahmin, they will love it and die for it. If you like this game and convince 1 person to buy it, I genuinely hate you. It takes LSD-overdose-levels of hallucination and delusion to like this game and fill in the blanks the game leaves. Just being open to RPing the setting is not enough by a HUGE margain.     Based on the Fallout 76 experience this project should be cancelled so resources can focus on games the public actually wants from Bethesda.

    Hopefully they don't waste the next year trying to remedy a bad idea instead of smartening up.

    Fallout 76 represents a big disappointment and the lowest point of the series so far. Riddled with bugs, repetitive and dull gameplay, nonexistent story and outdated graphics, it fails as a both multiplayer and singleplayer experience for fans and newcomers alike.

    Miracles do happen once in a while and No Man’s Sky proved that sometimes it is possible to get back on your feet even after a terrible failure. Right now though Fallout 76 is botched spectacularly on so many levels that even talking about this game is a waste of time. [01/2019, p.46]
