Doom is a gorgeous fast paced single player FPS like the old days. Great monsters with good AI, amazing feeling weapons, superb level design, and a perfect soundtrack to tie it all together. If you have ever enjoyed the FPS genre...play this game.

The new DOOM is exactly what I expect from a modern FPS game. Extremely fast, no cover mechanics (Using cover is not an option in this game - you have to keep moving), cool enemytypes, dodgeable projectiles, great weapons, good leveldesign (not just short tube levels), great graphics, excellent sound, strong music.

DOOM is a game for people that want to be challanged. The different difficulty levels actually change up the game instead of just changing some numbers for weaponstats. Higher difficulty = more enemies.

The story is basically irrelevant - which is a good thing. There is some humor involved, though. At one point the game even mocks the player by locking him in a room to listen to a stupid robot explaining useless stuff - just like Call of Duty and all the other "Cinematic" games. id Software knows its playerbase. :)

I really hope for a sequel.

I was in awe about the creativity, homage, goryness and overall perfect art style! The music is something to behold - a totally new reimagination of the midi metal riffs of the original, taken 5 steps further - just awesome!
The cherry on top are the Vulkan drivers which, when set up correctly, give you a flawless, fluid experience like no other and a huge fps boost.

IF YOU DON'T PLAY THIS, YOU MISS OUT!!!

The gameplay is simple but hella fun and addicting, the several types of demons r amazing, the brutality of this game kinda feels casual after the first hour but that's not sth I rly care about. The boss fights were quite fun but maybe a little bit too easy (on normal mode) - the hardest unit in this game (for me) is probably the shield boi that can srsly piss you off... In total I give this game a ten out of ten - The only reason this was close of being an actual 9 for me, is probably because this campaign kinda felt short... I mean, holy **** the game catched me so hard - I couldnt stop playing it but suddenly, after beating the last boss - which was a little bit anti-climatic as he was hella easy on normal difficulty ... or did I play on easy? I was quite disappointed in how fast everything ended... But even that isn't that big of a deal as you have then the choice to just replay the game but on higher difficulty, or play the multiplayer or play that special ''arcade'' mode... In total I can recommend this gamr to every shooter fan. This is the most unexpected masterpiece I've ever played.

Doom is pretty dang fun. If you want a fast-paced gore-fest game, Doom is right for you. If you get tired of killing demons then head on over to the multiplayer. Both are great and so is the game itself.

9.9 / 10 the best doom experience, everything is made so that you feel that you are playing as the doom slayer, the glorius kills (epic each and every one of them and the best thing is that they all match the frenzy tone of the work), the weapons (the same as in original doom only improved in design and including the ability to improve them so that they are more useful in combat), the9.9 / 10 the best doom experience, everything is made so that you feel that you are playing as the doom slayer, the glorius kills (epic each and every one of them and the best thing is that they all match the frenzy tone of the work), the weapons (the same as in original doom only improved in design and including the ability to improve them so that they are more useful in combat), the music (which I can say has not already been said bgm division one of the best soundstracks that has had this franchise and totally fits with the tone of frenzy that the game wants to tell / show us), and including the collectibles and skill points system (these last two are very well carried out making it feel natural to have to investigate to get collectibles and obtain points to improve your character, since the player can decide whether or not he wants to search for collectibles but if he does not do it he will be a little less powerful than he should be, making in the end all do falls on him and on his decision of whether or not he wants to look for the collectibles, perfectly integrated from my point of view) everything is perfectly carried out perhaps the only downside I find is that the bodies disappear from the stage when in the doom original this did not happen, the bodies were there, but well for everything else it is a great game and one of the best exponents of what is doom.

Ah, DOOM 2016, what a return to form of Id Software and their amazing First Person Shooter expertise.

After RAGE several years before DOOM 2016 released, we were left wondering “what now?” RAGE had a lot of interesting ideas, but some of them weren’t executed properly, but still a decent shooter with interesting world, for sure, but it was no DOOM.

Then, DOOM 2016 released and woah, this is how you do FPS games, especially one carrying the weight of such name. DOOM 3 wasn’t bad, but it was a clear departure from the classic DOOM I & II formula, for sure, still also a decent game with revolutionary graphic techniques back in 2004. But man, DOOM 2016, which is not DOOM 4… because as we discovered years later, DOOM 4 was going to switch to a more “Call of Duty” formula of gameplay…yikes (and then they scrapped it, thank goodness)…well DOOM 2016 is an amazing game, in all aspects, and one of the top FPS games of all time, in my honest opinion.

The gameplay has amazing pace and speed, the need to switch weapons on the go, depending on the type of enemies, is crucial and adds that layer of adrenaline pumping needed at times; the huge maps with lots of corridors, locked doors, secrets, are there, but also other more open areas too; the weapons themselves look and sound amazing, now with two types of upgrades each, most of them; and the new mechanics added, like the double jump or the Praetor suit upgrades are an interesting touch as well.

Now, on the PC this game is still a technical marvel, being one of the first triple A titles with proper Vulkan support, along with the old and trusty OpenGL, but Vulkan offers like a solid 40% extra performance compared to OpenGL, simply because the ID Tech 6 engine paired with this API is able to fully utilize our CPU cores in the most efficient way for the game. So, on my 4690K at 4.4 GHz and GTX 1070, I can play at max settings, 1080p, and still get like 170 FPS average, that’s insane, and it feels super smooth on my 240 Hz g-sync monitor. This engine is amazing for this type of game, Id Tech knows this, and I can’t wait to play DOOM Eternal with its new and improved Id Tech 7 engine and of course the Vulkan API once again.

For controls, of course mouse and keyboard are best, and the keybinds are quite left-handed compatible, I’m a lefty so I need decent keybinds around my arrow keys, which I use for movement, so this game is quite nice in that regard, no problems whatsoever. I think the TAB key cannot me mapped to anything, and it’s still used for the map I believe, so I added that key to one of my mouse’s extra buttons, no big deal. I can map every different weapon to a key, so I can quickly swap to the proper tool for each encounter, just like if I was playing a Quake match, that’s how you do it.

I played the multiplayer component quite a bit when the game launched, although it didn’t hold my interest for more than a couple months, since it’s a mix of different styles of other famous FPS shooters, but didn’t feel very old school and classy like the old DOOM games. Still, they did an amazing job with most of the multiplayer maps, some of them are quite breathtaking and could perfectly pass as decent Quake arena maps, no problem. Really good job on the maps, whoever did them, I loved them.

I didn’t really used much the snap-map stuff…I’m not much of a modder / map creator, but it was an original idea and I know some people had a lot of fun with that. I understand it’s not coming back for Eternal, so it seems they decided it was not worth the effort in the end.

Overall…I could keep talking about this game for years, honestly, it’s a modern looking FPS game with that old school feel to it, and what I mean is that I can fire up the game today, and still enjoy it like it’s new, because just like the classic DOOM I and II games, I love starting a new play-through full speed mode and see if I don’t die, If I remember all of the secrets, and just…because it’s a lot of FUN.

Oh, and I forgot, the animations for the demons in this game are INSANELY good, the team in charge of these deserve a lot of recognition…these demons have some of the best video game animations I’ve ever experienced, they feel “alive”, they’re vicious, they’re super smart, and everything is so smooth that it’s unbelievable to see all of these monsters, small, medium and huge, so well animated, trying to pulverize the player with such beautiful animations xD.

A well-earned 10/10, best FPS game of 2016 for me, and still top 5 FPS game of all time probably for me, it’s just that good, buy this game if you haven't today, it's 2019, it's quite cheap on sale, and DOOM Eternal is around the corner, which continues the story that this game started (yeah, DOOM has story too, you know).

This is cool, this is blood 'n' gore, this is hardcore, this is......HEAVY METAL. Hordes and hordes of demons to kill. Glory Kills. Arcade Mode, Snap Map Mode. This is so intense and filled with extreme action. There is absolutely no horror in this game like Doom 3. So my favorite Doom game will still be Doom 3. But I can definitely recommend this Doom game.

There is not a single part of this amazing game that isn't the perfect fit for the situation. Gunplay works on every lvl and with every weapon. The Collectibles can make a huge difference to your overall gameplay and makes a real difference. You want to find every single collectible because the maps are designed so amazingly that it doesn't feel like a chore to do. the enemy designs and variety is astonishing. Every monster/demon has its own way of attacking and then there is the gore.... Oohhh the mighty gore and blood when you brutalize one enemy after the other and you can't help but smile and laugh at the imaginative ways you can rip enemies apart. Upgrades to weapons are awesome and you really need skill and drive to complete the game on the harder difficulties. Mods and other workshop things ad to the multiplayer experience. The Story is compelling, although it is out worldly and you are thrown into it head first, and the characters and voice actors do an amazing job. Especially Darin De Paul as Samuel Hayden. All these things would in itself make a really good game. And the overall feel to the game is amazing and you really feel like you are on a different planet fighting demons. But there is one thing that takes Doom from being a great game, to being a perfect game.
The sound design and soundtrack is the best ever made to fir a first person shooter and the best in any video game since GTA Vice City. Mick Gordons soundtrack of chucking guitars, electronic sounds mixed into the game on the base of the more enemies you face the more music there is and the heavier the music gets. You slash, hack and blast through waves of spawning demons that keep on coming. You pull out the BFG and end the last ten enemies with one shot and the almost deafening sound of the blast and it's impact, paired with the hammering of Mick Gordons song Flesh and Metal or Cyberdemon suddenly stops all at once like it's sucked out of the room you are in in-game and all you hear is the wind and the vague and atmospheric background music as silent as a whisper. The experience is completely unique to DOOM and all these elements combined makes this game one of the best ever made and if id Software can somehow improve it in the next chapter of the Doom Slayer. I'm afraid I'm gonna start crying out of shere joy when I hear Mick Gordons music and I start ripping things apart.
