    There are pros and cons with Doom Eternal. I really enjoy the story arc of Doom eternal and the map design is well done. The missions challenge the player to come back and continue to gain more skill as well as to explore the levels. I also enjoyed the challenge of the Ancient Gods Part 1 expansion pack. However, When I played the Ancient Gods Part 2, It was not as challenging as I hadThere are pros and cons with Doom Eternal.     Very fleshed out gameplay loop, detailed and interesting environments, intriguing story that raises questions, satisfying and interesting gunplay and interesting enemy design which Doom is known for. An amazing game for medium skill to higher skilled fps players, you will keep replaying this for hundreds upon hundreds of hours. 10/10

    - proper sequel to Doom(2016)

    - super tight movement, the addition of the dash mechanic is one of the reasons which makes this a superior experience compared to its predecessor.

    - map design is out of this world, incredibly fun to roam around.

    - game runs super smooth and seems very well optimized

    Excellent combat. One of my most enjoyable gaming experiences. Even after completing the game, I needed to go back and replay the levels so that I could unlock as much as possible. On top of all of this, the soundtrack really completes the game. Now I can tell my friends about the great times that I had slaughtering demons while headbanging!

    Easily the best single player FPS ever invented. Throwing cover out the window and heavily embracing a brilliant system where you gain health by killing enemies... I have never had my heart race with such intensity while gaming. Each kill animation is a delight to watch. This is my 2nd time purchasing DOOM ETERNAL (I had it originally on ps4) and its so much tastier on pc. DAMN WHAT A SPICE!

    If you're looking for a solid single player shooter that will help you become better at shooters in general once you learn to work with the game rather than against it. Look no further. From a community that is normally very helpful(some not so great nerfs kind of has a fire under the communitys ass atm) to the AMAZING Developer team that always has an ear to what fans are saying. I have MANY hours played in this game and im yet to touch the multiplayer mode so that should speak for itself on the replicability of the game.     If you know, then you know. There's a bit more of a learning curve compared to the previous one. You gotta get used to spending the rechargeable chainsaw for the ammo. Once you get that reflex in, doesn't matter if you're hardcore, or more casual, you'll be able to make your way through the game. Git gud! And then rip an tear until it is done!

It forces you to think, but also gives room for a lot of creativity once you learn how to use your tools. each level is beautiful and the shooting feels amazing. I really recommend it for people who love skill based shooters. I also suggest coming in with an open mind. There are a lot of mechanics to learn but the game does a good job ofDoom eternal is the best shooter I've ever played.     Pure adrenaline in the best way. Don't be afraid to turn the difficulty down if you start getting frustrated. The game asks a lot of you but only because it is more fun the more you engage with all of its systems.

Every arena is a glorified flowchart where you're assessing your ammo, health, and armor reserves at every given moment. Not to mention the dozens of demons that are always in your face, ready to be shot at.

    I have no reservations saying this is one of the tightest, most meticulously engineered, most fun, gorgeous, replayable FPS games ever made.

    The resource-management system is top notch, the battles exciting, the environments gorgeous and varied, the mechanics all relevant and well-balanced, the lore terrible but who cares, and the boss fights decent, but then again, nothing is perfect.    I have no reservations saying this is one of the tightest, most meticulously engineered, most fun, gorgeous, replayable FPS games ever made.

    The resource-management system is top notch, the battles exciting, the environments gorgeous and varied, the mechanics all relevant and well-balanced, the lore terrible but who cares, and the boss fights decent, but then again, nothing is perfect. The challenge, especially is very gratifying.

    Doom Eternal is nothing short of a masterpiece. The graphics are amazing, the story is captivating, and the difficulty is still staggering, even on easy mode. Really makes you marvel at how the Doom video game series has evolved.

The arachnotron (spidey thing) was a challenge one of the first big enemies, 20 hours in and I crush it. Same thing with the maurauder as soon as you learn how to bait his vulnerability state/attack move he    Its Great,

His wolf will be no issue after your aim and timing is dialed in.

    I really enjoy the collectibles. You can get a suit upgrade which shows you the locations of them. This negates the need for a tedious Youtube Video or not if you can't solve the puzzle.

    The parkours are hard at first small deviations from the required movement lead to failure but latter your timing is right and you will swing like tarzan. These pakours also help later in combat. They learn you how to move correctly and how to don't miss a ledge.

    DOOM Eternal takes all of what DOOM did, and builds on it – for better and for worse. The core combat is excellent – you are encouraged to be constantly mobile, with a broad variety of enemies rewarding you for taking a variety of different approaches and using different tools in your    DOOM (2016) was a game that took the “old” formula of FPS games and reinvented it for a new era.

    DOOM Eternal takes all of what DOOM did, and builds on it – for better and for worse.

    The core combat is excellent – you are encouraged to be constantly mobile, with a broad variety of enemies rewarding you for taking a variety of different approaches and using different tools in your arsenal. You are encouraged to both fight at a distance, to fight at midrange, and to fight up close by various different enemy types, which helps to mix up combat encounters and keep them fresh and interesting. You have a chainsaw and a flamethrower, the former of which lets you instant-kill enemies for more ammo and some health and the latter of which gives you armor, as well as your glory kills – badly injured enemies start flashing, and you can rush in and do a special kill on them for a bunch of extra health (and if they’re on fire, armor as well).

    But at the same time, many enemies can do a lot of damage up close, so you are rewarded for moving in, taking out some foes, then moving back out again, using cover to absorb ranged attacks, before moving to a new position to lay down more damage.

    You also have a pair of grenades – a frag grenade that does damage, and a freeze grenade that freezes enemies in a large area – along with a “blood punch”, another upgraded melee attack that you get by glory killing enemies, resulting in a powerful attack that can severely injure or kill demons and give you a bunch of health drops.

    In the endgame, you also get a sword, that instantly cuts any non-boss demon in half (and even some miniboss demons), though it has severely limited ammunition.

    It can all be a bit much to keep track of sometimes, but it ends up rewarding the player for mixing up their gameplay, and not just falling into the trap of doing the same thing over and over again.

    You have eight weapons, each of which has two alternate fire modes, and almost all of them are very useful against particular foes, rewarding players for using all their weapons – something I really like seeing. The eighth weapon, the BFG, has a second “mode” that is actually a separate weapon in the same slot, both of which use the BFG ammo – a rare drop, but it makes sense, as the BFG can wipe out most enemies in a single shot, while the other weapon can lay down heavy damage very rapidly as well.

    The only downside of the combat system is that the higher difficulty levels mostly function by making the enemies more bullet spongey and making you take more damage. While not the end of the world, it can make enemies a little on the annoyingly damage soaky side in Ultra-violence mode, the second highest difficulty level, and you can die pretty fast. That said, the combat is pretty well-balanced even on that mode, and I made it through the entire campaign without changing the difficulty level or using the optional temporary powerup sentinel armor, which serves as a means of helping players who get stuck. Still, there were some encounters (particularly optional ones) that killed me repeatedly, and some of the bosses were a bit frustrating.

    Indeed, the second to last boss was a low point of the game – while cool visually, the boss primarily functioned by making the ground do damage. While “stay out of the bad” is a classic boss tactic, it is less fun in a FPS, where you have a restricted field of view – doubly so given that the boss flew overhead, so the “bad” was not visible from your FOV on the ground while shooting up at her.

    However, apart from a few niggles, the combat was pretty good. The same cannot be said about the rest of it.

    The game has a story, but the story is confusing, as it does not pick up where DOOM 2016 left off, but some time later. Moreover, it just isn’t very good – the DOOM Slayer is not much of a character, having no dialogue, and mostly just seeming rather angry. Other characters talk AT you, but it isn’t very interesting. Moreover, what plot IS there isn’t particularly interesting even apart from the main character – it feels a bit generic fantasy, which is doubly weird given it is a sci-fi setting. The DOOM Slayer brushing off the story in the first game was funny, but it didn’t work nearly as well here, because they were more intimately involved with the goings on, the plot being more important but also more confusing and mediocre.

    It is even more awkward considering one of the levels is pretty much entirely story content, and while it finally makes the story make more sense, it doesn’t actually make the story GOOD.

    As a result, I’m left feeling like this was a pretty good game, but it was far from perfect. It improved on DOOM (2016) in a number of ways, but also took a step backwards in others.    … Expand

Right from the beginning, we have a view of our hero, who puts on a mask and doesn't keep us waiting too long and throws us right into the action. After all, this is supposed to be the case, and as I mentioned in the review of the previous part, DOOM, in my opinion, has never been so much about the story and it was mainly an event. Friends ... how to describe it. The action is here ... PHENOMENAL! In the previous game, I slightly complained that it could have been even faster and I got exactly what I wanted and even more! Weapons of luxury, as in the previous game, we just got a new toy in the form of Crubical. Ladies and gentlemen. Mowing these demons was indescribable. In addition to this news, there are others and one, oooh. The one thing ... that completely changes the game and that's DASH! Dash will give you the opportunity to move much faster and so the whole event is even faster, faster and even BRUTAL! We have added new animations in the game, and believe me, that's a different cut. How creative the developers were and what possibilities we massacre the Ememak. In short, the new glory killy is an ABSOLUTE gem, and imagine that the HELL SOUNDTRACK is playing into it. Overall, you feel unstoppable. The player feels that he simply has incredible power, or at least I perceived it that way. It is also worth mentioning the boss fights, which were already luxurious in the previous part at the time, but are several times better here. Locations have also undergone a change. Are we no longer only in hell, but also on Earth, in winter biomes, or even in heaven or where the hell are we? I admit that I don't know myself, but it doesn't matter, because I would just use spoilers unnecessarily and I don't want that. It is possible to spoiler here, because there is again a story, which this time is not harmful and in my opinion is much better than the one from the previous part. The developers simply found a kind of sweet spot dosing action and cut-scenes. Of course, there are also improvements. One of the novelties that players don't praise about the game twice is the jumping passages. Personally, I didn't mind, but for some it was a matter of slowing down the action and unnecessarily stretching the game. I personally disagree. The action here is unbelievable and has such a pace that it just won't let you breathe. So I could somehow calm down all the adrenaline in these parts, where you just jump. Well, I think I praised the game so much, so it's probably no surprise that I think it's a perfect FPS and an excellent game, which I recommend to both DOOM series fans and FPS fans in general.… Expand

As a side note, it is important to mention that difficulty settings play a crucial role in the game because their adequacy to your gaming skills determines whether you would have a positive or a negative impression from the walkthrough. Conversely, the story is not the strongest part of the game; no, let me put it differently - the lore is quite rich and thought-through, but the game lacks in the ability to present this lore to the player in the appropriate manner.

    Be that as it may, DOOM Eternal is perfect in what it was designed for, that is - shooting and killing hellish creatures, both from the shooting perspective per se and its platforming entourage. For performing the demon executions, the protagonist a.k.a. the Doom Slayer has a plethora of different “devices”, ranging from shotgun and rifle to rocket launcher and ballista. Some say it is even possible to get the iconic BFG (however, unfortunately, I did not manage to obtain it). The platforming, in its turn, is not overwhelming but convenient and fun, thus presents itself as a cool addition to the main mechanics rather than as an obsolete burden. As a result, the seamless combination of the shooting and platforming helps to create a captivating gaming experience, not letting the player get bored.

    Nonetheless, for such an amazing “degustation” of the game, the choice of the game difficulty is paramount. Should you set your settings too high - and you risk ending up bogged up in repetitive grinding to get the necessary improvements without which it is pretty damn reckless to move on. Or, there is a possibility that one battle arena or some boss would prove unbeatable on the highest difficulty settings (dear speedrunners, not everyone is as talented as you are); hence, the frustration might even prevent an overachieving player from actually finishing the game. On the other hand, the easiest difficulty level is, well, too easy. Namely, there is never a shortage of ammunition, health and armor, and extra lives continue to pile up because a hard enough challenge never occurs. In this scenario, the possibility of leaving the game unfinished is also quite high because where there is no challenge, there is no excitement. In brief, I would recommend opting for the difficulty settings somewhere between the two extremes.

    A blot on the landscape - the story presentation. In my opinion, this aspect of the game is pretty weak. I mean, the cutscenes and short dialogues only present the story to the player on a need-to-know basis, like “here is your enemy, kill it”. This situation is pretty ironic because the game lore itself is worth looking into but is hidden under a large massive of text in the “codex” page. Yes, I know, DOOM is not an RPG with a divaricated dialogue system and a possibility of making important choices that influence the course and the ending of the game. And yes, maybe too much story would distract the player from holding on to what the game was initially designed for, that is slaying “alternatively alive” monsters. I just think a little more context would be in order.

    In any case, DOOM Eternal is a solid piece of gaming art, one of the best in its genre and, with the right approach, could deliver a cornucopia of emotions, ranging from anger and sort of “ambitious powerlessness” to exhilaration and happiness after clearing another stage. Even without knowing exactly why you need to do all of this stuff.

    I believe there are two types of games: those that strive to send a message, and those that simply aim to entertain the player. DOOM Eternal belongs to the latter group; not that there’s anything wrong with it - quite the contrary. Because it excels at it.

It has got hardcore metal music, intricate/asymmetric map design and gruesomely cathartic glory kills is as exhilarating as ever, inThis game frantic relentlessness is often exactly what I'm looking for in a modern FPS. Juggling resources and living every second on the edge of death is a great way to unwind and few other games require quite the same undivided, hysterical concentration.     The Ultimate Doom will always be my all time favorite game. I wear those nostalgia glasses with pride. Still, even with that bias, I believe Eternal is the best FPS designed to date. id Software saluted me for beating Quake I. Today, I salute them.

    The series is nostalgic for me and I love that a new installment was done so well. I noticed myself taking long, deep breaths during one battle sequence and realized my mindfulness habits for anxiety were kicking in because of how intense the combat was... I hadn't had that feeling from a game in a really long time, and it was pretty damn exhilarating.

    Excellent FPS game. Great mechanics, solid weapon selection, very well designed maps, lots of secrets to find, even the story is above average for an action shooter game. I had some concerns about visual styling and finishers, but it all comes up great together and makes the game very dynamic and vibrant. Graphics and sound are great, and it's optimized well enough.

    This game is one of the best games I've ever played. Unlike Doom(2016) each level feels and looks unique. The dash does a really great job at making the gameplay feel super fluid. Even with nearly 1000 hours into the game I still find it challenging and entertaining.

    Such a challenging game, but it won't stop you if you'd prefer to take a breezy tour through metal album landscapes and demon guts !!

    The Doom Slayer is more mobile in every possible way and the combat is even more fast paced. Enemies are smarter, more aggressive and more varied across the board. New abilities like the blood punch, flame belch and ice grenade have been added, and provide even more tactical depth.

    Overall Doom Eternal is simply everything I dreamed it would be, which is really saying something these days. ID Software should be PROUD of this masterpiece and I can't thank them enough for continuing on this series.

    Yes, there are some definite differences between Eternal and 2016, but nearly all of them are for the better. Combat is even more visceral, and while it may at first feel the game is forcing you into a certain play style, it's ACTUALLY giving you more control on how to manage resources. You have to play smarter, but you can also remedy any situation far easier than in 2016.     Doom Eternal is a masterpiece. id software (ID) has stuck to the same 27 year old formula that PC gamers fell in love with on MS DOS, and continue to improve on it with additional game mechanics, an upgraded engine, and new demons of Hell to slaughter while listening to excellent heavy metal music.

    I still highly recommend it. It's worth every penny. It just doesn't pull at me quite the way DOOM (2016) did, and still does. I like Eternal in the same way I like Doom 3. It's Doom, it's just a different flavor of Doom. If Ultimate Doom is Coke, then DOOM is adding a shot of rum, and DOOM Eternal is dumping it all out and getting a Sprite. Tasty, but not quite what I expected.

    The end result of all of this is a hyper-intense gameplay loop of constant movement, weapon swapping, and decision making. It makes you feel like a demon-slaying god when you finally overcome. It's extremely engaging to the point that I keep coming back even after like 4 playthroughs.

    Doom has evolved, it had to, it should do. You can play Doom I, II and Final in ZDoom wirh PSX soundfiles (which I really recommend) and all the 3d graphics glory that your old Voodoo couldnt handle, if you really want to revisit the Doom series. And you should, its worth it. But this? Wow. this is like Unreal Tournament meets Doom 2.

    I got it when it went on sale for $20 (it does a lot) and it's good for that price. Good graphics and gameplay but i wouldn't even think about paying $60 full price for a story only game idc how good the story is. No replayability but i would suggest getting it when it goes on sale for $20 because the story and gameplay is fun.

    Stylistically this game improves a lot from DOOM 2016. The addition of a homebase gave me max incentive to actually track down all of the collectibles, which is something I usually ignore.

    After playing this for 1 hour I fired my boss and grew a beard

    Seriously, this is the most fun game I've ever played. The combat is faster than The Flash's season antagonist and the platforming is actually fun (it's sort of a rest from the combat, which does get tiring after a while). 10/10

    Recommended, the same fun you will get from Doom 2016 but even faster. Little piece of advice, try to play the Doom 2016 first and then Eternal, it gets hard to return to the speed of the game from 2016 after playing Eternal.

    If you're looking for a deep and thought-provoking gaming experience that changes your outlook on life, look elsewhere. However, if you want a fast-paced, visceral shooter full of non-stop action and outrageous violence, you can't do better than Doom Eternal. If you liked 2016's offering you will love this follow up. It's a hell of a good time.

    Like Jason Statham’s character in Crank, Doom Eternal needs adrenaline every waking second. So long as you drown hordes of demons in their own blood, it feels like a perfect GOTY contender, but during quiet moments, Doom Eternal withers and forces you to ponder unpleasant questions. id Software needs to course-correct, otherwise we’ll be playing Super Doom Slayer’s Bros in a few years.
