    Finally beat the base game and may I say what an absolute delight it has been.

    Not much to say, if you enjoy violent demon murdering while listening to music just as violent then this game will be a class choice.

    I love this game, it is strategic and fun. Violence is a massive part of this game and it is awesome. The game can be difficult on the higher difficulty's and can pose a real challenge or you can play it on a lower difficulty and just enjoy it.

    Yes. One of the best shooters of all time. Every level introduces at least two new weapons/abilities and two new enemies to contend with. When I first heard that there were going to be double the amount of enemies I could not fathom how they could have implemented it, but my god have they done a fantastic job. You learn their patterns and the best weapon combos to defeat them.

    Doom Eternal is what every action game's combat strives to be. Doom 2016 was great and introduced many new ideas that worked well, but what Eternal did was take these ideas and further flesh them out to create something incredible. They saw that the main idea of the game was to never stop moving so they made you faster and gave you more ways to traverse i.e. monkey bars, dash, and aDoom Eternal is what every action game's combat strives to be. Doom 2016 was great and introduced many new ideas that worked well, but what Eternal did was take these ideas and further flesh them out to create something incredible. They saw that the main idea of the game was to never stop moving so they made you faster and gave you more ways to traverse i.e. monkey bars, dash, and a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ grapple hook on your shotgun. This can even be seen in the dlc (especially part 2). They saw that people liked the crucible blade but didn't like the fact that you have to wait for a pickup to use it. For me, it became more of a a rarity so I didn't end up using it much unless I knew that there was a pickup by me. But the devs looked at this and created the Sentinel hammer which recharges whenever you perform 2 glory kills or pickup a refill. As well as many different enemy ideas that focus on much more specific weaknesses such as only being vulnerable to a specific attachment on your shotgun. Though I've never really liked enemy's where you have to wait it out for them to attack just to expose their weak point and doom has a few that could use a little more of an offensive approach (I don't have too much trouble with marauder but that's just because he's very defensive and tries to attack as much as possible). Lastly one of my favorite additions that they add into the ancient gods is swinging from your grapple hook in the platforming sections. The base game had some pretty good platforming but the grapple hook really added some new spice to further flesh it out (I just wish they used it in some of the battles). Doom Eternal's combat is fast, refreshing, and something completely new that I would recommend to anyone who is looking for a great shooter filled with many incredible moments and well made dlc.… Expand

    This game was absolutely amazing, as soon as i started playing i was hooked till the end! I will say i've only done one play through, i'm not the type of person to keep going till i've played on every difficulty and collected all the collectibles. Regardless though, it is fun. Personally, i think i'd wait for a sale if i were you, didn't take me too long to complete, since i grinded it.This game was absolutely amazing, as soon as i started playing i was hooked till the end! I will say i've only done one play through, i'm not the type of person to keep going till i've played on every difficulty and collected all the collectibles. Regardless though, it is fun. Personally, i think i'd wait for a sale if i were you, didn't take me too long to complete, since i grinded it. But definitely recommend getting if on sale.… Expand

    Was battling a bunch of times demons many o' yall' been speaking of, and one of 'em just up an' clipped through that there wall. I got many a distracted, and whilst I was thinkin' of what had just happened to me, 7 demons came right on up to me and stabbed 89 times.

    Doom Eternal was the game created to complete what was Doom and its story, this continues with what was Doom (2016) and improves it. A great improvement, pure action, violence, and metal (OST). Rip & Tear!

    Doom Eternal is nothing short of a masterpiece. The graphics are amazing, the story is captivating, and the difficulty is still staggering, even on easy mode. Really makes you marvel at how the Doom video game series has evolved.

    Overall just an amazing experience with some of the most engaging gameplay I've ever experienced. Obviously, the metal music is one of the best parts of DOOM, it really makes the game. Overall, it has a hard learning curve that is very rewarding once learned, and it is a spectacular title overall.

I'm serious: the most important part of this game is farming weak monsters for health, ammo and armour. Every single mechanic that was added to this game that wasn't already there in DOOM 2016 is basically cool-down dependent tedium that just gets in the way. This is like DOOM 2016 if the DOOM slayer had to periodically take a break from killing a mancubus to do his taxes, take a piss, flame then chainsaw imp for ammo and armor, punch a random zombie for health, and then go back and do a bit more damage to the mancubus before running out of ammo. And then having to repeating the tedium all over again. The DOOM slayer can't just feed the ugly bastard a steady stream a missiles until it pops, like the in the good old days. No. First, shoot the fist guns, on each hand, because those are the first 2 "weak spots", then you can finish it off. Do it any other way and you run out of ammo, because all other parts of the body, other than the arbitrary weak spot, take almost no damage before the weak spot "check-boxes" are ticked off. This applies to all "big" monsters.

    DOOM 2016 gave you a problem, a box of tools, and then let you decide how to best murder everything. DOOM Eternal gives you a problem, a rusted, barely functional, set of tools, and a very rigid and convoluted procedure to follow. Try and use the tools any other way than for the intended "problem" (weak spot) and you realise your weapons are actually dollar-store water guns that shoot piss and glowing dog turds.

    There had to be better ways of raising the skill ceiling of the game without the boring MOBA cool-downs, and redundant rock-paper-scissors.    … Expand

    Probably the best FPS I have ever played. I usually play competitive multiplayer games but I can use this as aim training sit down and relax on nightmare mode. The mechanics are pretty unique can keep you engaged for hours.

    Definitely has made it up to one of my favorite games of all time. Once you play eternal there is no going back to DOOM 2016.     Doom Eternal is a direct upgrade from Doom 2016. One you've gotten the core game play dynamics down (glory kill=health, flamethrower=armor, chainsaw=ammo) you should be able to counter any demon that comes your way. All in all this game is addictive and definitely a must get.

    Doom 2016, Doom Eternal, and the Ancient Gods DLCs are some of the best games I've ever played. I've enjoyed every minute of the time I've put into them. These games are shining examples of what happens when highly skilled developers take the time to truly understand their audience. Highly recommended.

    The combat in this game is absolutely fantastic and makes you feel like a bad ass from start to finish. This game also goes into the lore of the doom slayer which is nice to actually have some story along with slaying demons for hours on end.

    On top of that, magnificent visuals. Excellent music. Hardcore sounds.
    Top fluent on ultra. Works perfectly with a controller so I can relax in the sofa while playing it.
    There is NO much relaxing game than Doom.

The Best Soundtrack Award is there for a reason.

    An absolute blast from start to finish and one of the most polished games I've ever played. Visually stunning environments and animations. Immaculate pacing with just the right amount of puzzles/story/lore interspersed between sessions of heart-pounding action that is only enhanced by excellent use of the soundtrack. Challenging enough for every level to be an adrenaline-filled rush but not so difficult as to be frustrating. Same goes for the collectibles, bonus levels, etc — everything is compelling without being intrusive. I was also amazed at how well they managed to capture the spirit of the original DOOM games I played as a kid in a modern format. (For example, I never would have thought that in 2021 I'd be playing a shooter with no reload keybind, but somehow it just works.) Did I mention the game has a great soundtrack?

    The genre and thematic approach isn't for everyone, but even as someone as someone who typically prefers games with a lot more depth than DOOM has (story-driven RPGs, strategy games, stealth action-adventure, etc) I still loved it it from start to finish. It's easy to pick up and put down at a moment's notice whether you have 30 minutes or 4 hours to blast through hordes of demons.

    In a time filled with buggy, unfinished, forever-in-early-release, oversold and under-delivered games, it's refreshing to see one so refined and filled to the brim with attention to detail. Overall, an exquisitely crafted game and worth your hard-earned dollar even at full price.    … Expand

    You can use your legs for locomotive or horizontal projection purposes, you can also use your basic motor functions to make other lifeforms to have their pain receptors react in a violent way and also make then species stop breathing, 10/10

It really is one of the best first person shooters on the market if not the best due to the pacing, the combat, the pickups. and the movement. Doom Eternal's entire focus is on the feel of the combat not the look of the combat, the gun sounds the executions are examples of this.

    I haven't had this much fun in a long ass time. Great game to take your mind off college and to just enjoy. I bought it for the singleplayer and it did not disappoint.

    At first i was a bit put of by the more Arcady UI design and the "combat is a puzzle" aspect of Eternal, but i gave it another chance and boy, i had no reason to be skeptical.

    Its a great game and for a lore buff like me its stuffed with world building that you can enjoy in the few calm moments between the insane high speed action.

I extremely look forward to playing again because theres just so much to find and the shooter aspect of it is absolutely flawless. I'm playing my first playthrough on Ultra-Violence and itsAbsolutely amazing game, with fun gameplay. As an absolute completionist, at least in DOOM games, I have sinked about 10 hours in one session in, and made it to the "Super Gore Nest" 100% completed. I extremely look forward to playing again because theres just so much to find and the shooter aspect of it is absolutely flawless. I'm playing my first playthrough on Ultra-Violence and its really fun. At some sections you get stuck for a couple of minutes but eventually you adapt, learn the enemy positions and overcome the hardest part of any level, and thats the most satisfying part of the game in my eyes.     Also you're getting some old school Level Design and many Details.
    The Engine is running great. Edit: I sadly have to lower my Rating from 9 to 7. The DLCs are bad, they feel like a 90s third Party Expansion Pack that doesn't understand what makes the Game Fun. The    You have to learn how this Game wants you to play it, but when you into those Mechanics, it is really a great Game.
    Also you're getting some old school Level Design and many Details.

    This game truly is amazing, most of the negative reviews are from people who don't like this games flow(what i do understand because it is a bit more advanced than in the earlier doom games.

    i hope microsoft will continue to put as much effort in the next doom games as bethesda and id software have put in this one.

    This game took everything Doom 2016 had and multiplied it by x10. The Gunplay, The Enemies, Speaking of the enemies, i LOVE the classic look of them. i would've absolutely loved it even more if the original Baron Of Hell Design came back, but the fireborn baron was okay too :)

    Doom Eternal is also one of the very few games I have experienced that produces a state of flow - where after a while you find yourself almost not thinking about the game, just reacting on instinct as you mow down enemy after enemy, never once staying still. At a certain point, something "clicks" and you become one with the game, and what was previously an endless stream of quick decisions in the heat of combat becomes something akin to a blood-soaked dance. The satisfaction of beating a seemingly impossible arena after several attempts is almost euphoric.

    Overall, Doom Eternal is one of the best games in recent memory, and the best FPS in its category hands down. A tribute to the original Doom with the addition of second-to-second tactics like never before.

    Very fast paced first person shooter that gets even faster the more you progress so far I've played 11 hours and I'm having a great time with it I can only hope it gets better from here.

    What epic game highly recommend. i know i don't have a lot of hours on PC version but that's because it kept crashing, but I beat it on PS4 and it worked perfectly fine.

    Downloaded and played the Doom previous to this one and its worth playing both, fun game where you can jam out and destroy and kill everything and if you want to make it difficult for yourself you can do that too.

    The Ultimate FPS Experience. Nothing beats this game. Soundtrack and gameplay is pure masterpiece. If you want to push your skills to the limit then DOOM Eternal is for you. I recommend playing on Nightmare difficulty even if you're a newcomer for the best experience.

    The resource-management system is top notch, the battles exciting, the environments gorgeous and varied, the mechanics all relevant and well-balanced, the lore terrible but who cares, and the boss fights decent, but then again, nothing is perfect.    I have no reservations saying this is one of the tightest, most meticulously engineered, most fun, gorgeous, replayable FPS games ever made.

    The sophistication and fluidity of the combat in this game is amazing. Doom 2016 is crap compare to this and any here claiming otherwise is blinded by nostalgia for that game lol.

    This is the most intense shooter experience I have had in the last few years.
    It is so much more demanding and frenetic than Doom 2016, coupled with the blasting soundtrack it is an experience like no other.

    At first I was put off by the playful mood and the difference in feel from Doom 2016 but after a few hours of playing I fell in love with the game. Each weapon has its purpose, each enemy has its weakness and its up to the player to perfect their own style of play. I don't love ALL of the changes from 2016 (not a huge fan of the swimming mechanic) but overall an incredible game.

    Pure adrenaline in the best way. Don't be afraid to turn the difficulty down if you start getting frustrated. The game asks a lot of you but only because it is more fun the more you engage with all of its systems.

    If you're looking for a deep and thought-provoking gaming experience that changes your outlook on life, look elsewhere. However, if you want a fast-paced, visceral shooter full of non-stop action and outrageous violence, you can't do better than Doom Eternal. If you liked 2016's offering you will love this follow up. It's a hell of a good time.

    Like Jason Statham’s character in Crank, Doom Eternal needs adrenaline every waking second. So long as you drown hordes of demons in their own blood, it feels like a perfect GOTY contender, but during quiet moments, Doom Eternal withers and forces you to ponder unpleasant questions. id Software needs to course-correct, otherwise we’ll be playing Super Doom Slayer’s Bros in a few years.
