Diablo IV is the exact same trash game as Diablo III, just with more monetization.

The Diablo franchise died with Blizzard North.

Poor game without any innovation. Me, as a fun of Diablo series and RPG/D&D/Hack&Slash genres, as game developer and games designer, I'm totally disappointed.

I've seen much deeper MODs of Diablo 2, this game is just a shame for Blizzard and Activision, hope they won't last for long and let their talents will join other teams that may be able to use them for good.

World bosses that forces a once solo player awesome experience to play with other players more like a MMO.

The amount of time from the announcement to the release, there wasn't just enough time to create the d4 we wanted, if you believe in fairy tails that they were on it for almost 10 years, believe in whatever you want, they saw an opportunity to create a cashcow since fans were asking for a sequel and they probably just used diablo immortal assets and create something new here and there.

Like many of us, i was a foul for believing in D4 when we already have the REAL worthy successor do D1 and D2 and i hope you go back to play it instead of wasting your free time.

Diablo IV, the much-anticipated entry in the renowned franchise, falls disappointingly short of its predecessors and fails to carve its own path. While theDiablo IV, the much-anticipated entry in the renowned franchise, falls disappointingly short of its predecessors and fails to carve its own path. As an ardent fan of the series, it pains me to say that Diablo IV feels like a shadowy imitation of other successful action RPGs, lacking the depth, gameplay, and substance that makes games like Diablo II and Path of Exile so beloved. While the graphics and cinematics stand out as commendable, the overall experience leaves much to be desired.

First and foremost, Diablo IV shamelessly borrows systems from games like Path of Exile and Lost Ark, but disappointingly waters them down. Rather than innovating and introducing captivating new mechanics, Blizzard seems content with imitating without adding any meaningful improvements. This lack of originality and the diluted nature of these borrowed systems fail to evoke the same excitement and engagement as their inspirations.

One of the most glaring issues with Diablo IV is its noticeable lack of gameplay and substance. The game feels like a hollow shell, offering little depth or complexity in comparison to a certain predecessor. Diablo II and Path of Exile set the bar high with their intricate skill systems, diverse character builds, and engaging endgame content. In contrast, Diablo IV feels shallow and fails to provide the same level of depth and long-lasting appeal.

Lazy development practices are also at the fore-front of Diablo IV. One example of this is the level scaling. Whenever your character levels up, all the monsters around you level up too. This can actually result in your character getting weaker whenever you level up.

Repetition quickly becomes a prevalent issue in Diablo IV. The lack of varied and engaging content leads to a monotonous gameplay loop that loses its charm all too quickly. Quests and encounters become predictable, and the lack of meaningful progression or impactful choices dampens the sense of excitement and exploration that should be inherent in any good action RPG.

While Diablo IV's graphics and cinematics deserve some praise for their visual fidelity and production value, they become the sole redeeming features in an otherwise lackluster experience. The haunting atmosphere and impressive visual effects do little to make up for the game's shortcomings in terms of gameplay depth and overall substance.

Blizzard's sales and marketing practices surrounding Diablo IV are questionable at best. The exorbitant pricing for the game is difficult to justify, especially when compared to other outstanding titles like Path of Exile, which offers a superior experience at no cost. The base edition's price tag of $70 and the ultimate edition's $100 price point appear predatory, preying on the loyalty of dedicated fans while failing to deliver a truly exceptional experience. For the same price as the $70 base edition of Diablo IV, you could buy Last Epoch, Grimdawn (plus both expansions), and Torch Light 1, 2 and 3. Not to mention games like Path of Exile and Lost Ark which come at no cost.

Diablo IV feels like the older sibling of Diablo Immortal with a heavy price tag, lacking the ambition, innovation, and passion that fans have come to expect from the franchise. It fails to carve its own identity, leaving players yearning for a fresh and transformative experience that matches the legacy of the earlier Diablo titles.

In conclusion, Diablo IV disappoints on multiple fronts. It imitates successful systems without improving upon them, lacks the gameplay and substance of its predecessors, succumbs to repetition, and relies heavily on its visuals to compensate for its deficiencies. Blizzard's development, sales and marketing practices and the steep price tag only amplify the sense of disappointment. As an avid fan, I can't help but feel that Diablo IV falls short of capturing the essence that made the franchise so beloved, leaving me longing for a more remarkable and memorable experience.

There is no end game content at this point.

Diablo 4 Review: A Disappointing Departure from the Series' Legacy

    Introduction:
Diablo 4, the highly anticipated addition to the iconic action RPG franchise, unfortunately fails to capture the magic of its predecessors. While it boasts impressive graphics and cinematics, the game falls short in several key areas. Drawing upon my expertise of being a Diablo enthusiast, I will delve into the details of Diablo 4's shortcomings and highlight how it diverges from the series' rich legacy.

    Graphics and Visual Design:
Visually, Diablo 4 is appealing, going back to the the dark and gritty aesthetic of its predecessors, but it carries a noticeable World of Warcraft influence. Some spell animations lack the impact seen in Diablo 2 Resurrected, with cartoony spells reminiscent of Diablo 3. Moreover, the generic item graphics detract from the unique item identification experience found in previous titles, and the lack of variety in monster designs is disappointing.

    Gameplay Mechanics:
Diablo 4's gameplay mechanics present significant issues that hinder its potential. Characters are restricted to specific equipment choices, limiting build diversity and preventing unique playstyles like a melee sorceress wielding a sword and shield. This restriction feels outdated, considering the flexibility offered by games released over two decades ago. Furthermore, the absence of a basic attack and the reliance on skills tied to weapon damage undermine the RPG systems and result in poorly designed mathematical frameworks. This departure from Diablo 2's distinct magic and physical attack mechanics diminishes the game's depth and engagement.

    Skill Variety and Gameplay Diversity:
The game's limitation of six active skills at a time, compared to Diablo 2's allowance of up to 16 active skills, curtails the potential for diverse and dynamic gameplay. Diablo 4's gameplay revolves around waiting for cooldowns and utilizing a generator attack during downtime, lacking the constant spellcasting and action-packed gameplay of its predecessor.

    Replay Value and World Design:
Diablo 4's replay value is limited, with an endgame that lacks depth and character progression that quickly stagnates. The absence of procedural generation, a hallmark of the series, and the reliance on recycled assets contribute to a forgettable game world. The static open world with scattered MMO events fails to evoke the immersive and dynamic experience players expect from the franchise.

    Itemization and Power Scaling:
Diablo 4's itemization is disappointing, with convoluted stats that hold little meaning beyond superficial fluff. The game's focus on items dictating builds rather than enhancing chosen builds detracts from the depth and complexity found in ARPGs. Additionally, the flawed math system tied excessively to weapon damage, similar to Diablo 3, creates scaling issues and fails to demonstrate improvements from past iterations.

    Conclusion:
Diablo 4, despite its flashy graphics, ultimately falls short of its predecessors' legacy. It fails to deliver the depth, complexity, and engaging mechanics that Diablo 2 excelled at. The restrictive gameplay choices, lackluster itemization, and absence of procedural generation contribute to a hollow experience. While the game may still appeal to those new to the series or seeking an action-focused experience, fans of Diablo 2 and its rich sandbox mechanics will likely find Diablo 4 disappointing. As an avid Diablo expert, I rate Diablo 4 as a mere shadow of its former glory.

The gear itemization and skill tree systems are weak and do not confer enough power to the player.
