Let's just say that if they offered refunds after season 1 patch notes they would lose a lot of money. I bought this despite being on the fence to play with my friends but this will be my last blizzard game I ever buy. Blizzard has had a lot of nostalgia good faith but that's be burned away now.

Plenty of people said it better than I did, but yea, this game is overpriced garbage. But hey, what else did we expect. It's Blizzard. The only new thing that came out of that pile of dung is that their customer support rejecting your every request is no longer done by underpaid call centres, but instead by bad AI.

Once again, because Battle.net servers are down, no one can even login to play this game. There needs to be an OFFLINE option so that I can play my game without relying on Battle.net's incredibly unreliable servers. I should not be locked out of a video game due to requiring it to be online. Especially when Battle.net can't keep their own servers online and in good working order.

We have AI now and Blizzard can't even make tabs for quick swapping character builds? We can't lock our rare loot and quick disassemble or use loot filters? Most arpgs have these features today. Where are the next gen graphics, abilities and camera angles in combat? This game follows the same tired old formula of past arpgs. Green poison damage...lol. A necromancer class that isn't even viable summoning minions? Blizzard could have paved the way to next-gen, but fell short of even providing basic functionalities like a matchmaking system for a multiplayer game.... lol. They didn't even fix balance issues based on Beta data or a test realm. They are patching imbalances using paid player's time. They release a massive power nerf to get players to buy a battlepass and regain the powers they took away. Oh and don't forget the treasure goblins don't even have a treasure realm to enter anymore haha. We loved that, but now they just drop more useless loot. The player in the dungeons or in the open world are slow and suffer from widespread lag or rubber banding (stuttering). The mounts also get stuck on every little thing. The overpriced cosmetic items in the paid shop are awfully designed and silly looking. Even the main story was boring and felt rushed to a sudden end. The hardest boss in the game takes a ton of preparation and time to defeat and gives garbage loot as a reward. Nightmare dungeons (like greater rifts perhaps) are useless past tier 50, reward for effort are gone after that point. In summary, I stuck it out with this game because I loved diablo 3, for a few weeks past when my friends already quit playing. Game has great potential but might take a few years of implementing feedback to realize it. Expand

Blizzard is dead, it's nothing more than an empty vessel for Activision to milk revenue, and Diablo 4 is the perfectly evident testament to that. Just do yourself a favour, move on, and avoid this totally dull, empty, and messed up game, and forget about Blizzard for life.

Diablo 4 Season 1 patch was so bad, the playerbase feedback about what they don't like (Give me back my Vulnerable Damage!) is being construed as "review-bombing" and "petty" by shills and development management. You can plainly see this by observing the Critic Reviews Score vs. The User Reviews Score; People who were paid to write positive reviews did exactly what they were paid to do, while Users who actually will play the game post launch have some obvious problems with the changes made for Season 1 and the base game itself (Example: only four stash tabs, with no increase for season 1).
It's not review bombing if the "patches" or base game ranges from low-tier trash to tolerably mediocre.

DIABLO IV: A CATACLYSMIC DOWNFALL (written by a fan who's been playing since 2004)

Diablo IV seems to be an unfortunate misfire from Blizzard, a one-time titan of the gaming industry, now a far cry from what it once was. While it retains the atmospheric dark-fantasy aesthetic and haunting soundtrack that were the strengths of its predecessors, Diablo IV fails to carry the torch in more substantive aspects.

The greatest disappointment lies in the game mechanics themselves. The depth of character customization, one of the core appeals of Diablo III, seems to be stripped down, instead opting for a rigid and uninteresting class system. The diversity and adaptability that once gave Diablo its replay value now lies buried, replaced by an oversimplified mechanic that undermines the core experience.

Gameplay becomes even more frustrating due to the myriad of bugs that continue to plague Diablo IV despite numerous patches. From crashing servers to a seemingly endless list of technical issues, the game's execution comes across as unpolished, almost amateurish.

Diablo IV also stumbles in its inclusion of East Asian themes, which feel out of place and inconsistent with the series' established aesthetic. The incorporation of these elements feels disorienting and disjointed, betraying the traditionally dark medieval, gothic ambience that fans have come to love. It's as if in trying to cater to a broader global market, namely China, Diablo IV loses its roots, its identity. The once-respected Blizzard seems more interested in broad market appeal and profit maximization than maintaining the thematic integrity of Diablo. The end result is a confused hodgepodge that feels less like a Diablo game and more like a mercenary cash grab, further underscoring that Diablo IV is not worth its weight in gold.

The overpriced in-game purchases are not justifiable by the provided content. Moreover, the game's initial hefty price tag is a slap in the face to the long-time fans of the Diablo franchise, who have been promised a game experience that Diablo IV does not deliver.

The story, once a strong suit of the Diablo franchise, is woefully underwhelming in Diablo IV. The plot lacks depth and the storytelling is haphazard. It feels more like an attempt to recreate the success of the previous installments, without capturing what made those narratives compelling in the first place.

Under the new ownership, Blizzard seems to have shifted its focus away from producing quality games for its fanbase. This should give gamers pause and question the ethics behind where their money is going.

In summary, Diablo IV feels like a shell of what it could have been. It's a watered-down, bug-ridden, over-monetized shadow of its glorious predecessors, caught in the jaws of corporate greed and negligence. It is a hard pill to swallow for long-time fans of the franchise and it's a regrettable introduction for new players. Despite the hype, Diablo IV is not worth its exorbitant price tag. It's a bitter disappointment for those who expected Blizzard to revive the brilliance that once was Diablo.

I don't like every monster level in the game being the same as yours almost all the time. You level up and become weaker because monsters receive more than you.
There is such a low number of classes and builds to pick (and almost all of them are the same from past games). All the characters work the same way (use skill to generate resource to use main skill). You just don't have any purpose to grind that annoying leveling: the events are not that cool and don't give specific rewards. Why kill lilith if she doesn't have a chance to drop something good?
    Now the worst part:
The feel that the devs are just messing progression so you don't progress and stay in the game more time because QoL was attacked. No map overlay (D1 in 2000~ had map overlay). Nerfs on characters there are already feel clunky in a slow paced game. Nerfs xp by nerfing dungeon. Nerfs on aspects.
No trade system at all. No solo option for leveling that is close to group playing. No matchmaking or some party finding system. No clan activities. Tons of "shops/crafters" and most of them are far from portal.
And s01 most of these problems stays or are worse while I expected some improvements in the game.

I can actually see my xp bar move now. They buff and tweak a bunch of things. So far so good.

Fast forward to day before S1. Global xp nerf. Global defense nerf. Global damage nerf. What?! Prior to this patch, my level 100 rogue was clearing Tier 50-55 nightmare dungeons easily. I could push to 60, but that was sketchy and I died a lot. Post patch I try the lowest tier NM I have on hand: 51. I die 4x and am kicked out of the dungeon within 3 minutes. Wow. I crafted and tried a 45 next. Died twice and barely made it through. I don’t get it. I’m not pushing tier 100 and crushing it easily. I haven’t even killed Uber Lilith yet. Sure, I play 20-25 hrs a week, but I’m by no means elite. I only have a single 100 character. The game became objectively less fun. For what?

I speculate that the team that worked on Season 1 realized their content wasn’t well balanced and wouldn’t keep players engaged for 3 months, and instead of addressing the issues in the season, they simply slowed down the game and made it harder. Meh.

Game needs some kind of economy and tradable items to make drops feel significant. It needs a loot filter. Items need to be less class dependent to make gearing multiple characters less awful.

The game is just not fun.

The content and loot becomes very repetitive. I don't feel like I'm being rewarded when investing time into this game.

It was fun for a few weeks then several patches came that just sucked the life out of the game. Maybe in the future it will get better but as of now, I would save your money.

I played it pretty hardcore since release every Day 8 hours upwards cause i was craving for a worthy Diablo II or III Experience, i got tired of all the Copycats even when i enjoyd most of them like PoE.

This Game has so many Bugs, some small some big, and with each update that fixes an unbeleavbly ton according to the patchnotes and hotfix notes it adds more new ones and didnt even fix the ones that were fixed according to the patchnotes.

Rubberbanding of Doom at random times.
Badly coded like for example our client always reads out all inventory/stash/whatever of any player we encounter while yet theres no benefit for that except the performance issues on client side this creates.
Mico stutters since Patch 1.1 everywhere at the worst times.
PAtch 1.1 was a Joke too, and the Emergency Campfire with excuses and promises that this should have come together with the so called "buffs" in three weeks is the Joke of the Century.
They did not expect that kind of Backlash and had to find an excuse , they never planned to balance it out with buffs and tweaks, they simply wanted to extend playtime and make it more tedious so people will buy pass lvl ups more likely to get the rewards without that hassle.
Forcing PvP Quests on Players in Seasonjourneys in a Game that is as unbalanced with oneshot mechanics and builds left and right is a bad choice too, one that lead to my unistall of both the Game and Battlenet in total.
If i want to have PvP i play real PvP games and not a friggin Hack And Slay Looter !
Yeah yeah go grab a friend and kill him excuses ive heard it all, give me a break with this whiteknighting.
    Where are Sets?
Oh a hundred people of a few millions got uberuniques? Quick lets nerf that down hard, god forbid people have fun finding an Endgame BiS Item.
The Whole Idea of grabbing Affixes from one item and put it onto a perfect Yellow Item is so bad and boring.
Only in the first week i got exited for legendary drops, once i understood all the Mechanics i didnt even bother picking stuff up, hell it even gets send to you box then.
Wich has way to less space for all the Classes and Builds anyway.
And thats not even a thing they can fix easily cause now the Devs mentioned that the Box is perma dupe cheking all the Things wich impacts Performance heavily...... is this a Joke? Not for Blizzard in 2023! JEsus Christ.
The Story itself was pretty mediocre, the Characters where great and had much potential but in the End it felt rushed and to short, and yes i did it all, twice. Then i skipped everything for the other Toons
    Multiple 90-95 Classes.
No Quest sharing? No group progress for questing together on sidequests and that? I have never ever played a Game Coop that was supposed to be an MMO type of Game that was so poorly designed on its Multiplayer aspects, jesus christ.
No more Trading at all for Leg or Uniques, not even with your Partymembers.
What happend to Diablo III´s one hour of Trade possibility with the people you where together after finding it? Nah that could reduce actual playtime if people give away the items they dont need to their partymembers, instead lets just let them hope to find the right thing themselfs.
No MAtchmaking or anything ingame, Chats Dead, why going a Lost Ark Copycat route of beeing an MMO Diablo when you dont even provide the simple things. there is absolutly no Point in making it the Way it is right now, no Housing No show off to other people cause everyone looks the same anyway, the Costumes are bland as hell.
#God am i mad, this was the Last Time Blizzard has seen me as a Customer, i did quit after the Blizzcon Disaster with Immortal after owning all their Games and blowing Money at em, only came Back for D4, noticed how much of a S* Show it is and now im gone forever.

Indeed, behind these great graphics and cinematics, Diablo 4 hide a well known to players secret...
microtransactions. Plentyof them. Yes, you read that right, after paying 70$ on a game wich is enormous considering that the full price of a game was often 60$ these few last years. You have to spend minimum 25$ to get ONE skin. This game is more expensive than Fortnite, Halo Infinite or other free to play. It got even worse with the first introduced season pass.... This game demands you to pay 10$ wich is the standard price for a season pass IN A F2P GAME for the premium. If you dont have the premium, you get 27 free tier, wich is roughly the same thing in F2P, but, here's the catch, almost half of these free tiers are "smoldering ashes" wich allow you to buy some small bonuses for the season (1 month) like +5% EXP. But it also not give enough of the premium money to allow you to buy another pass next month, wich is usually done by F2P games, but Diablo 4 wants to milk more money than that apparently.
So not only does this game have the audacity to nerf every character and the EXP outcome from almost everything, but not only does he allow himself to be 70$ AND be more expensive in it's microtransaction system than a F2P game. I just uninstalled the game after this chain of update.
and you're probably gonna tell me "but these are just skins, it's fine" no it is not. It's this method of thinking that led us to the catastrophe of Battlefront 2 years ago. Because if you put a paying skin in-game, it haves to be deduced from the game itself. If a free skin is looking more attractive then a paying skin, why buying the skin ? This leads to having all the great looking skins in the shop.
About the story, many peoples disliked it, I, personnaly enjoyed it, it was really short, but it wouldn't have been good to extend it artificially.
Well, go play a F2P game, it'll be funnier, I'm going back on Diablo 3.

Blizzard is living off it's past reputation and that blizzard is long gone and will never return. It took me a long time to accept that... because I loved WOW, D1, D2, WC1-3, SC1 and 2. Even OW1 was good... they went the way of EA.

This game sucks... I heard some of the developers got fired.

There are job listings for new Dev hiring by Blizzard in Albany , NY. in the past month.

That is all you need to know.

It was a Cash Grab by Blizzard, they used Woke Devs, and treated the game like a mobile phone app at $100... and now they are paying for it.

J'ai voulu me faire ma propre opinion.

Can only give it a 2/10.
The game is a rather bad and sad excuse for a diablo game. Blizzard once again shows they do not really listen or learn from their mistakes. Being a fan of Diablo 2, this game hits a mark so far off...
One thing is the horrible UI or the missing content, that can be fixed, but the general gameplay, although it looks and sounds pretty, it's just not rewarding.

One thing is the horrible UI or the missing content, that can be fixed, but the general gameplay, although it looks and sounds pretty, it's just not rewarding. The game sets you up for defeat almost from the get-go with very few feeling of reward:
It doesn't matter if you find a legendary or unique item (which are basicly just common drops) because you will switch them out shortly afterwards anyway....
The potion system is limited and chonky and rewards far range play so you can save them, because unless you get bosses to specific health states, there is no way of getting them back, which heavily hurts a melee character...
The way you feel you lose control over your character in certain areas or boss fights. Sure you can get an unbreakable buff that will make you immune to cc, but unless the entirety of your build is focused on that... Never mind the world bosses that switch your camera focus around, so all of a sudden you don't know where your character is...
And this is not even a full list...

Story wise the game is mediocre at best. You are chasing around after a demon that's somewhat powerful and then... not really when it comes down to it. However, on a positive note, I was very thrilled, as a Diablo lore-freak, to know the lore-drops in the storyline.

Very disappointing fights that is just a copy of Diablo 3 bosses... Most events also a copy of Diablo 3 or .. heavens forbid, Diablo Immoral.

Now that being said, the game has a few redeeming qualities. It has taken some of the good things from Diablo 2, the dark feeling, the more slow-based fighting system and such things. And it has taken the, what in my opinion are probably the best things from Diablo 3. But when it has also taken the worst things from Diablo 3, being the things I felt traditional Diablo fans complained about, it heavily minimizes my score.

The gist of it... If you liked Diablo 3, by all means. I'd say it's a 50/50 whether you will find the game good and worth playing for a few weeks or terrible and will just shelf it.

If you are a Diablo or Diablo 2 fan ... Stay away from it. For the love of everything Diablo once was, stay away.

Either way, I don't really see many playing much more than a few days before growing tired and annoyed with the game.

Sorry Blizzard, but at this point I feel you are just producing shameful games on purpose.

Although diablo 4 is potential to be a great game, Blizzard obviously don't know how to manage their game. There are tons of ui design can be fixed easily to make the game fluently, but Blizzard decide to ignore those important ui design but focus on diminishing players interest. well done!

There is a certain level of expectation when it comes to the release of a new installment in a beloved franchise, particularly one with as storied a history as Diablo. Unfortunately,There is a certain level of expectation when it comes to the release of a new installment in a beloved franchise, particularly one with as storied a history as Diablo. Since the release of the first game in 1996, Blizzard's dark fantasy hack-and-slash series has been a mainstay in the gaming community, boasting a dedicated fanbase eagerly anticipating each new release. Unfortunately, Diablo 4 fails to meet these lofty expectations, presenting a slew of issues that render it a significant disappointment.

Firstly, let's address the elephant in the room - Diablo 4's glaring lack of innovative gameplay mechanics. The franchise has long been praised for its strategic depth and rewarding loot system. Yet, Diablo 4 seems stuck in a time loop, regurgitating gameplay elements from its predecessors without any substantial additions or improvements. The result is a game that, while familiar, feels stale and monotonous.

The RPG elements, a cornerstone of the Diablo series, have been oversimplified to a disappointing degree. Character development and customization options are sadly lacking, offering a watered-down experience that lacks the depth and complexity that fans of the series have come to love. The skill tree, once a rich ground for character customization, has been minimized to a collection of linear, unexciting choices.

Graphically, Diablo 4 is adequate but fails to impress. Despite being a 2023 release, the game doesn't showcase the graphical improvements one might expect. The atmospheric, gothic visuals that defined the earlier games are present, but without a significant upgrade in quality, they lose some of their charm.

The game's storyline is equally disappointing. The Diablo series has always offered an intriguing narrative backdrop for its action, but Diablo 4's story feels underdeveloped and at times, even forced. Key plot points are often hastily explained or not fully fleshed out, leaving the player disconnected from the events unfolding around them.

Lastly, the game has been plagued with technical issues since launch. From server instability to random crashes, these problems have made an already lackluster experience even more frustrating. Blizzard's slow response to these issues has only added to the overall dissatisfaction.

It is difficult to overlook these problems and give Diablo 4 a pass solely on the strength of its legacy. The game's failure to innovate or deliver on the level of its predecessors makes it a hard sell for both long-time fans and newcomers to the franchise. Blizzard must address these issues swiftly and decisively if Diablo 4 is to regain the trust and admiration of its fanbase. Until then, it remains a disappointing addition to a once revered franchise.

While the future of the game is anyone’s guess, at present Diablo IV is a solid, but strangely unambitious take that fails to bring much new to the table. By the end of my travels, I was more than willing to put it down and take a break — somewhere amongst all the grinding, Diablo IV had unfortunately ground me down as well.

The best Blizzard launch in a long time and a worthy game to be called Diablo.
