    Not that D4 is a D3 v2.0 but this is literally D3 development hell history repeating itself. Why? Read on. Bad project management and staff changes mid-way, constant changes with no clear direction or clear identity what it wants to be or which type of players it wants to target, and because it tries to cater to everybody, it ends up pleasing    According to d4armory 400h in and uninstalled.
    Not that D4 is a D3 v2.0 but this is literally D3 development hell history repeating itself. Why? Read on. Bad project management and staff changes mid-way, constant changes with no clear direction or clear identity what it wants to be or which type of players it wants to target, and because it tries to cater to everybody, it ends up pleasing nobody. The endgame, however you define it, is already done around level 85-90 where you get most of your BIS gear and get maybe 1 or 2 small upgrades. Leveling up to 100 will get you not much more than a couple paragon points, and whether you want to push 100 NMDs or uber Lilith is up to you, but there is very little to do around after 85-90: no item farming (grailing), no crafting, no trading. The bugs and missing QoL features and the fact that game requires multiple balance changes, and some emergency changes 1.5 months already after it launched, are clear indicators that they've totally messed up the testing phase.

    tl;dr: game released too early, too many bugs & missing features, no clear direction

    EDIT: Oh btw, there is no Diablo in this Diablo game. Who cares about Lilith, the very evil, the franchise's namesake, Mr. Big D himself, who returned time and time again, is NOT in this game. Ridiculous! Obviously reserved for an expensive $70 expansion.    … Expand

    What a great team of developers they have! Will be back after season 10. Patch was already made before the game was even released…. Like the devs said nothing big for season 1 and season 2 will have fixes that we need. What a time for them to take a vacation.

    I want to start this by saying that it breaks my heart that I'm writing this. I've loved every diablo, and I love this one, but with how quickly Diablo 4 is going downhill, it's a struggle to continue doing so. I know there's an ebb and flow to diablo updates, but this latest one really did gut everything. I found a good build. Nothing meta, but at lvl 90 it got me to difficulty tierI want to start this by saying that it breaks my heart that I'm writing this. I've loved every diablo, and I love this one, but with how quickly Diablo 4 is going downhill, it's a struggle to continue doing so. I know there's an ebb and flow to diablo updates, but this latest one really did gut everything. I found a good build. Nothing meta, but at lvl 90 it got me to difficulty tier 4 and can progress level 50 dungeons (if the dungeon favors my build) within 10 minutes. Nothing super crazy, but it was satisfying and I was having a lot of fun. But, now everything in the build is so slow, and doing anything above my own level feels like a punishment rather than a fun challenge. I feel like I've come too far, and don't have the gold, to respec.

    Trying to change a build, if completely reworking a paragon board and abilities, costs about 2 million gold. Which, at the higher levels shouldn't be a big issue, but having to change everything to find another good play style takes time and multiple respects of points, gear, and abilities.

    The changes to the armor/crit/vulnerable system in 1.1 makes even the lower levels feel like an intense grind. Doesn't feel like it's meant for casual players anymore.

    I'm not exactly sure what else to say. There are so many things that were reworked poorly, and and the big issues that we've all been talking about have not been fixed. I really do hope it changes as soon as the devs can see the mistakes that have been made.

    But all in all, at this point the game is functioning very poorly... Love the campaign though.

    Update: After the Livestream the devs did talk about some concerns to comfort players. This did raise my review by 1. I understand that this review is a drop of water in the ocean. Either way, I'm glad they're at the very least trying to understand.    … Expand

    Diablo 4 is atm the best example to see a gaming company disconnects with their own player base, infuriate all fans and gamer and kill the game with the patch for the 1st season in this new released game.
    It's insane, disappointing and discouraging at once. I have no idea how they can fix it, but if they don't fix it..that might be the last Diablo game we will experience.

    Ruined with update. endless time grind to level up now, garbage item drops so your forced to play seasonal because they nerfed everything. 100 percent ruined game. Went from amazing to trash in a single patch. pay to play BS

You cant trade because you can only trade with people in your Level range... Its mostly class bound Item Drops mostly for the class you Play...     There super uniqs which cant be farmed for, which means you will most likely never See them... And If you See them, good luck in getting good stats on them...

    There 4 difficulties... Tier 1 aka. "Most efficient, because its fast for the Story Line"
    Tier 2 aka. "Basicly Tier 1 with a littlebit more Challenge... Most likely not worth IT because u get slower"
    Tier 3 aka. "Chose me If you can, i got a new Item Tier... If you dont Chose me, all Drops you get are meaningless"
    Tier 4 aka. "Now we are talking, another, even better Item Tierlist... Remember Tier 3 ancient items? **** that **** Its Trash now"

    In Diablo 1... 2 and in generel 3.... Getting better items, progressing ment that you get stronger and feel stronger... New items gave you Major Advantages... But Sometimes there were cool Set bonis from lower Sets which could even be used in late Game... Getting Gear for twinks/ Friends or even random new Friends you met on the way, was fun and rewarding... In Diablo 4 everything feels meaningless... You have no reason to keep Low Level items... Little to no way to Support a friend with some items or the fact that you could Help them through tuff Battles. Diablo 2: Got a new build? Try it Out... Go back to Nightmare and farm Gear for it.. Progress and master it.
    Diablo 4: Got a new build? Well **** you... Respec every single Paragon Skill one by one... And oh Buddy, i Hope you got your full Gear rdy, because otherwise you Go Back to Tier 3 or even 2... Remember the new item Tier you Had in Tier 4? Forget it... Grind it till you bleed... Diablo 4, truly is hell.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. In my opinion this is the worse diablo. For my experience I was playing as a sorcerer which was pretty fun aspecially at the start with the big skill tree but I got the max stuff at like level 30 or something. I think that the story aka "tutorial" is long and at act 4 I was so bored and only wanting it to finish. At act 6 we were going to hell and i thought it would have been a pretty long and cool area with new enemies design and bosses but it was the same enemies that I uncountered everywhere and i did the hell in less than an hour and even the final boss, Lilith was kinda boring with a reskin for level 100 who wanna "finish the game". After I beat lilith and got the unique ring I went in World tier three, when I saw all the new features in W3 I was hyped but when I did it like 5 time it was getting boring so I did the epic chores of doing all renown points to get skill points and paragon points which took me like 10 hours...
    I grinded until level 60 and did W4 capstine dungeon which was the only time i died because of the boss and not annoying croud control. After getting tourment difficulty I grinded helltides, world bosses and legions like it was a chore same thing with nightmare dungeons who are long and boring honestly after hitting level 76 I quit. I also never got all the uniques for my build, I only got 1/3 and I couldn't do enough damage without it. I made a seasonal caracter but since I had another caracter to test other classes in priority I had to grind all the renown points again...    … Expand

    Nerds nerfs nerfs and nerfs again. This game is being nerfed to death and it's not fun anymore.
    Now I have two 80+ chars and after the last nerfs both skills + sets are for the bin, to play my Barb and Sorc is pain in the A.... thats no fun.
    I can't use the paid Battlepass because I don't want to make a new char every three months. Instead I am forced to play a seasonal character to get    Nerds nerfs nerfs and nerfs again. This game is being nerfed to death and it's not fun anymore.

    Instead of making builds and stats more viable, they just nerf the good ones so every build is useless.
    Instead of making the game more enjoyable, improving quality of life, or making builds more fun, they just nerf everyone.
    Instead of making unique items actually usable, they just add more useless uniques.
    Instead of adding more content, they just increase the grind (helltides AND nightmare dungeons).
    Instead of improving the weakest class in the game (Sorcerers i'm looking at you), they outright nerfed them as well.

    etc etc.

    And all this whilst we still have no easy way to try out of change builds, or even reset our skill tree's or paragon trees. Still nowhere to store all all our gems, aspects, or items. And uniques (apparently the best items in the game), are still useless.

    Diablo 4: the boring grind.

    It's clear the dev's/management don't even play their own game, which is a shame! It had a lot of potential, but it looks like we won't be seeing that potential anytime soon.    … Expand

    Patch 1.1 has utterly ruined the game. They've decimated every single class, slashing their damage and defense. Instead of introducing new avenues to amplify power, they've simply made the sole viable method even weaker. Rest in peace, Diablo 4. Rumor has it that Path of Exile is flourishing, offering a far superior experience.

    I did pre-order it. I played the early access and was very disappointed with the grind. On release, I levelled a sorc and druid to 100, geared them up and I felt dead inside. Refunded the game.

    Do not buy this game.. This is not a Diablo franchise, i guarantee you that you will disappointed..The developers dont know what they are doing as you can see from the negatives posts.. You will be hyped the first week, after the first week you will realise how boring it is..

    The most interesting part at start is the campaign story. Then, it should be the endgame… but the endgame content is way too insufficient and available activities are boring. Farming is not rewarding at all, nor from stuff perspective or feeling. You are only aggregating gold, that has no real utility, and materials, that you will use only few times.     Talk about an unbalanced beta. They deserve zero for making us pay 100e to be beta tester AND have the blind, mute and deaf attitude toward it’s player base.

    * Skills/abilities are pretty much "been there, done that." * Dungeon layouts aren't randomized, which kills replayability * Dungeons have large, empty    Diablo IV is a generic, soulless ARPG that happens to include triple-A sound and graphics - even though I find the bland, dark art style to be monotonous, because it makes everything feel the same. Some of my biggest gripes are:

    * Skills/abilities are pretty much "been there, done that."
    * Dungeon layouts aren't randomized, which kills replayability
    * Dungeons have large, empty sections that make the game feel more like a walking simulator
    * Talents that add minor %-based improvements to other skills.
    * The whole paragon system feels like it was phoned in. The fact that they keep having to nerf it makes this even more obvious.
    * Itemization is lackluster
    * Lack of meaningful customization for characters. All characters of the same class basically look the same with armor on.
    * There is no meaningful "end game" content - and no reason at all to grind to the maximum level

    What's really driving this review, though, is the complete mismanagement of this game since release:
    * Shamelessly expensive premium content that only works for a single class
    * Malicious UI design that tricks people into buying a battle pass
    * Patches that make the game more grind heavy without adding any real reason to grind.
    * Patches that make classes weaker while not providing decent alternatives    … Expand

    No Set Armor, no Horadric or Kanai's cube, no runes or runewords, no extracting Legendary abilities and being able to add those to your character's    There's a reason the Open Beta events capped your level at 25; Blizzard didn't want any eager players to go further and discover that this game is still basically a buggy, unfinished, glitchy beta with massive amounts of missing content.

    No Set Armor, no Horadric or Kanai's cube, no runes or runewords, no extracting Legendary abilities and being able to add those to your character's battle prowess in addition to your gear... they spent decades honing content into an enjoyable experience in Diablo 2 and 3 only to completely wipe the slate for Diablo 4 and give you absolute squat.

    OMG the itemization is sooo bad! This new 'Uniques' and 'Uber Uniques' item system as well as the poorly executed 'Aspect' system that was obviously designed to make you waste inventory space with what feels like an inevitable shift towards charging real cash for more bag expansions... that's just one of a myriad of issues that are just so WRONG about this terribly executed mess. There are a lot of quests and content, yet all of it is without any soul.     this game is boring, i'm playing a necromancer and i'm using the summons, i lose track of where i am within seconds after combat starts, because the screen fills up with blight pools and corpse explosion miasma clouds. i can't see anything. the story is dumb. this game is really bad.

    it's a pretty lazy shallow attempt of a game, a story designed around a DLC or an expansion a handwave time amount away, that is both vapid commentary on religion and social issues as it is boring. Borrowing techniques and systems from like games, that use the approach, simply because they don't access to the money blizzard does. The prettiness is hear in the graphics, as always with a blizzard title, but now I can't help but start to see the stitch marks of blizzards skin suit draped over an Activision body underneath, like a ed Gein horror movie Gone are the days that we replayed a game for fun, and in truth, also no having the just pure amount of selection to choose from too, and yet we and tried to be sold a used car that won't break down after 6 months and leave you stranded, after spending nothing but everyday working on it. I certainly notice a lot of people who review the game online saying how addictive the mechanics are, even though the gameplay is sub-par, and brothers & sisters, lol you are helping to make the argument that games are a bad thing, which now that massive profit-first business has infected this hobby like a cancer, is true, because we keep supporting the wrong companies make truly great games that both have amazing stories, graphics & mechanics. Younger generations may never truly come to appreciate just how much those three things used to be a standard feature in a game, and now not a sacrificed thing on the altar of profitability, by the bloat of inept middle management that would make peter Molyneux blush. and by the rest of us continuing to reward bad business practices and behaviour, madden players I'm looking at you, those younger than us, and that doesn't matter if you're 20, 10 or even five years older than new people discovering this amazing hobby for the first time, if they see this a normal, then how will they know any different?

It's more real, more raw, more engaging.

    This would be the start of something great. Except, once you get passed the superlative. They screwed up literally every other single aspect of them game. The leveling pace is awful, grindy and boring. The scaling system is the dumbest idea to be introduced into Diablo, since real money auction house. All it serves to do is annoy you as you run through zones to find dungeons, as it never gets easier to run through those zones.

    Which brings me too... why the hell are we running through zones constantly? You took a game built on bashing hordes of monsters to try and find shiny things and turned it into a track meet. Who the hell wants to watch a character run across a screen all day? It's insane. There's absolutely nothing interesting about the "zone" content, once you get outside of the storyline. It's all repetitive garbage, the events are all the same, rinsed and repeated. It's interesting once, then annoying immediately.

    How, after years of game development lessons, do you have 0 QOL functions at launch? Why am I running back to my stash to get gems to craft and managing that insane inventory like I'm playing Runescape in 2001. How do this many smart people sit in a room and make a game so mechanically tedious it borderlines on the absurd?

    What is fun about placing stones on pedestals 47 times a day? Who the hell thought ANY of this was a good idea?

    Blizzard is using their paying customers/gamers to find and fix bugs in Diablo4. I'm getting non-stop lag spikes, rubberbanding, non-stop lag on a gigabit fiber connection. Their balancing and season 1 patch updates were a complete afterthought without any kind of proper QA done before release. Don't buy.

Fine, but if Blizzard wanted to ride that hype and reach as many players as possible, wouldn't it be in their best interest to release a clean, smooth, and most importantly, finished game?

    But no! The game was released unfinished and poorly thought out. Just the fact that you get stuck on invisible corners with the horse is a complete no-go. And let's not forget the mere 4 stash tabs, while you have to farm endless rare items just to compare and try to make something better out of them. Gems are stored in the stash, too, which already lacks enough space. And don't get me started on the useless crafting system! All those crafting material you collect in the open world are basically worthless since you can't craft any rare items. To top it off, you end up with a ridiculous number of mods/stats on items that are totally unnecessary. Who needs resistances? They're utterly useless when you need damage stats like crit hit chance, crit hit dmg, vulnerable dmg, etc. The few defensive stats are %total armor and HP, etc.

    Sure, the campaign itself is fantastic, and the cinematics are absolutely breathtaking. But after that, the game is more or less over. The endgame goals are reaching level 100 and killing Uber Lilith, and that's it. Once you hit level 100, max out the glyphs, and have almost perfect stats on your gear, the game is done. There's no point in running Nightmare Dungeons since you can't improve anymore.

    Oh, and the Helltides! Until a recent update, they didn't even drop unique items. Players didn't even know about it! So, trying to farm for specific items was a lost cause.

    Now, let's talk about the audacity of asking for 70€ for a game and then throwing outrageously expensive skins into the shop, along with a battle pass. They should be offering way more for what they're charging. It's an absolute disgrace!

    As if that wasn't bad enough, the last patch was pure harassment. They increased teleport time from dungeons from 3 to 5 seconds. Why? What's the reasoning behind that? They can't even provide a proper explanation.

    And on top of that, they nerfed almost all stats for each class. Classic Blizzard behavior! If, for example, 2 stats aren't performing well, they drag down all the others to the level of the bad stats, instead of adjusting those 2. A perfect example is the nightmare dungeons, where the monster density was high, and people loved running them. But after the patch, instead of adjusting the other dungeons, they destroyed everything and reduced the fun for the community.

    I have no idea what Blizzard's goal is, but with this attitude, they won't retain any players. It's just infuriating!    … Expand

    This game was playable, boring, but playable. That patch made it useless. They want to funnel everyone towards the seasons and the paid battlepass. They didn't have to do that. Someone making decisions at Blizzard who should not be. I wanted to love this game and play it for a long time, instead I uninstalled it.

I have every legendary aspect other than the sun and I'm packed with resources and gold. My gear is the best that I can make it so what now? Maybe an Uber Unique? Oh sorry, they might as well not exist with that kind of drop rate... Oh! Shakogate happened. That fiasco left a bad taste in my mouth and I still feel second-hand embarrassed about it. Then patch 1.1 hits.. wow, talk about a middle finger to the player base! That completely gutted my class, my build and my overall game play experience. What was a slog before is now a corpse drag. Everything is longer, slower and harder. That's not fun. Imagine working hard for something and being proud of your earnings only for it to be stripped away. Without warning, I might add.     Nothing like the first two games, weak mechanics, repetitive and no rewarding dripping system, boring "Smart" loot.

    I made this account just to give this game a review. Stay away, and don't believe the paid off review sites. This game thinks that games aren't supposed to be fun to play.

    This is an atrocious mess of a game! Bad mechanics, poor gameplay and after the initial introduction falls flat on it’s face with little to no replayability value at all. Add pathetic cash grab schemes such as a battle pass and an ingame currency that obscures actual cost of purchasable items and you have a game not worth your money or time!

    This game wasn't ready for release. There are a ton of things that are just unpolished and unfinished. Lots of rubberbanding which is not ok when all you want to do is play a game alone. Boring is the main aspect of the game. 80% of skills are trash, You WILL have to play in a certain way to not suck at the game and freedom of choice is just a bad choice in the end. You will not enjoy your time, you will not have fun, Blizzard hates you for having fun and make you pay for trying to escape your boredom. I uninstalled the game, i'm just now bored AND angry.

    Buggy AF. You might have seen the story of the first player to make to level 100 on hardcore mode. His game crashed and his character perma-died. That happened to me also. The signs of shoddy design are all over the place

    While the future of the game is anyone’s guess, at present Diablo IV is a solid, but strangely unambitious take that fails to bring much new to the table. By the end of my travels, I was more than willing to put it down and take a break — somewhere amongst all the grinding, Diablo IV had unfortunately ground me down as well.
