    Bottom line: An incredibly boring game. Dungeons and loot, the heart of an ARPG, do not feel satisfying at all. The game loop, is tedious. Expect to make multiple trips back to the vendor during your dungeon run, which just completely breaks the immersion and flow.     They shouldn't have tried to make this game a partial MMO. I'd love to be able to pause the game and walk away for a while and not have it log me out due to inactivity and lose my progress on the dungeon or quest I was in the middle of.
    The 1.1 patch is a tone deaf disaster... did they not know that deep class nerfs across the board in the name of "balance" would upset people OH WAIT    They shouldn't have tried to make this game a partial MMO.     It's one thing to fix bugs but it's another to actually remove stats from existing gear and characters. They nerf based on some random internal power play. It's not about balancing and making sure builds are still fun. It's more about breaking builds and letting other OP builds remain without actually addressing many of the bugs and glitches that exist. You level your characters to reach certain stats and thresholds. You level your characters to focus on what is the most powerful or fun to play. Then Blizzard comes in and changes, not bug fixes, which impacts the basic damage, cool down reduction, actual stats available, armor, didn't fix resistances which is broken, overall defense, and overall experience gain. A level 70 player is going to fill the pain and will have to grind for several weeks to get back to where they were. The full time career gamers who play over 50 hours a week barely even notice. They have max level everything and perfect or near perfect gear. It wasn't a balance patch it was an intentional bump back for the majority of their player base. If they do it once, they likely will do it again. Very frustrating to get the stats needed for several important bonuses, sign in the next day and your gear and skills have had stats removed and now you have to completely rebuild to get them back.     Perspective of someone that's completed the campaign and is in "endgame" (Note: Campaign was decent, but short and only somewhat exciting compared to Diablo3): This game was already a 2nd job to play, and by that I mean you're spending hours doing the same things over and over again with no feeling of accomplishment or progression whatsoever. You can't even feel like you're getting betterPerspective of someone that's completed the campaign and is in "endgame" (Note: Campaign was decent, but short and only somewhat exciting compared to Diablo3): This game was already a 2nd job to play, and by that I mean you're spending hours doing the same things over and over again with no feeling of accomplishment or progression whatsoever. You can't even feel like you're getting better at the game, because even when you "push" higher tier nightmare dungeons your character's not geared for, you get garbage loot that's FAR below your character's level or the gear you already have equipped. The game is very VERY thin on endgame loot. There is nothing very unique or exciting to find. You are literally just doing the same activity over and over again in the same manner, to once again port back to town, to disassemble or sell off another large collection of trash. Over and over again. No gear upgrades. Nothing exciting or new happens. That's the endgame. Trash loot recycling simulator.

    Now, Blizzard looked at their players' progression and said "They've progressed to the depressing and pointless endgame too quickly! We have to make it harder for them to get there!" and are nerfing any and all abilities that could make a player feel "powerful" or even "capable" of completing the endgame content (which is already thin, boring and fruitless).

    This is all being done in the name of "engagement" which is the term game devs use to describe "addiction and manipulation tactics" to keep you locked to their game and not able to play any other game. FOMO BS that almost all game devs are using these days. "Seasonal" drip-fed content that keeps you locked into a daily check-in in order to get your next pebble of "content" (some lame-ass weapon skin or mount armor). We have to push back on this garbage and show devs that we don't want to be seen as revenue streams sitting in front of their gambling machines, pulling the handle over and over again to get our crumbs for the week. We have to stop supporting this crap. By Blizzard essentially making everything about this game even more difficult and slower, they're showing us that they really only care about keeping you on the hook for every minute they can drain from your life. It's not fun, it's not entertaining or challenging. It's trash game design at best. Protip game devs: Make a game people actually want to play, and you won't have to resort to just building the walls higher.    … Expand

    The late game is boring and slow, mostly as the loot system is not on point. It always feels is not going anywhere.     I don't work because of long term sickness and for months I have been looking for something to get into long term as I have never really mastered a game. Diablo 4 was the one. I have over 340 hours. After this new patch that they clearly made to get as many people as possible over to the season realm to push them to the battle pass I am just sat here twiddling my thumbs. But now with the pre-season patch which has managed to make everyone in a fanbase explode with anger how can companies continue. I feel there was a time with Games were meant for enjoyment but now they are seen as a way of getting money out of gamers.

    Blizzard have become a greey corporation dead set and artificially inflating playtime due to the lack of content. Typical game as a service model where you elongate the content to better keep eyes on the game so they spend more of battle passes and cosmetics, but at the cost of the enjoyment and fun. Diablo is a casual game that's doing everything wrong.

It was along the lines of "we know who cheated and how many, but this time there will be no punishment, perhaps next time we'll do something if it happened again". This allows their streamer partners and whoever else they are protecting to retain godlike items for the remainder of the game. I decided to uninstall at this point because Blizzard lost integrity and didn't keep the playing field fair for the rest of us.    … Expand

    The game was quite good, yes, It has a lot of work to be done: quite routine endgame content, some skills were useless, game has some bugs with armor / resistances. And what the Blizzard do in the "big patch"? They slowing down game instead of balancing things and making new endgame activities. Amazing. 0/10, that shows us the real attitude for players

    Just made an account so I can throw some meat at this abomination. The game is truly unplayabale after 1st season started. Loading screens take ages when You Tp from one location to another, lags are the only thing that actually make You get killed while playing on the 2nd level world. Season 1 release, if you're lucky enough to log in and not in an infinite que, you get hit by rubber banding and invisible walls everywhere. Loading into a new area or dungeon results in loading hang and you have to alt f4 and restart and jump back into que. When you get back in, don't bother trying to load into a new area because you get the same result. Blizzard support is nearly non-existent or completely useless. How does a season 1 release have so many more issues than both launch days?

    Honestly so disappointing, the game, how little ActiBlizz cares about it's fan base. It's amazing anyone even supports them anymore. Been playing blizzard games since I was 10 starting with OG startcraft, diablo and warcraft. Then into WoW, D2/LOD. This game doesn't even compete with D2/D2R.

    The season patch is very horrible. Built a character around certain things. Min, Max... and showed up to see that the things I thought were going to be around and it's just dead.

    Now I have to respec everything? Wow fun!

    As a D2 Veteran I was very disappointed with D3 at launch and I'm sad to say that I'm even more disappointed with D4 at launch than I was with D3.
    Like others have said, the story is amazing but I recommend that you save your money until Blizzard fixes the myriad of issues that D4 has.

Instead of boosting weak builds, they nerf the strong ones. I wanted to give the game a second chance during the launch of the first season, but the servers are not working...

    In the case of Diablo 3, the fundamental metric that the team is targeting is "engagement".

    You might ask: "why is this bad? It's an ARPG, I want to be engaged."

    But the fact is, Blizzard doesn't care what type of engagement it is, they don't care if you're enjoying yourself, as long as you're playing, as long as you rack up the hours.

    And if you look at the game through that lens, every aspect, and every decision now makes sense.
    They will actively try and slow you down. They don't want you to burn through the (very little) end game content.
    They want to make sure you get as little reward as reasonable without you throwing up your hands and just outright quitting. It's a fine line, but they have the experience and data to straddle that line.

    And there lies the real fundamental problem with the game. And they have to do this, their shareholders DEMAND that they maximise profits, so they must treat the players like cows and milk us for as much of our "engagement" as possible, with as little content as possible.    … Expand

    Hour long queue. If I can log in the lag makes the game unplayable. Blizzard(now Microsoft I guess) just takes the money and delivers some unplayable trash.

    So, I'm giving it 2 points, because I actually really enjoyed playing through the Story the first time and I enjoyed the cutscenes, music etc. however that's very subjective.

Additionally, the patch before the first season revealed their poor view of what actually needs dev-work and leaves a sour taste for upcoming content, patches or even fixes (in Blizzard fashion likely more nerfs to slow down progress).    … Expand

    I cant understand how a company can be so blindfolded on not hearing or reading any kind of feedback from the players, Blizzard is on a killing streak of all their games and it's not stoping, from Heroes of the storm, to Warcraft 3 Refunded, to damn Overwatch 2 and now they dig the grave even deeper with Diablo.

    Having actually had fun playing a game after a long time and being psyched up for this season, the latest patch takes away everything that made the game actually fun. Looks like I'm going to be doing something else before Blizzard takes the stick out of their ass. I feel like the community resonates hard on what I said.

    90% of my deaths are from dumb blizzard mechanics, I'm tired of feeling like i'm getting stomped in the dirt mid fight by a mechanics that have very little counterplay if any at all. chain cc into body explosions, into off screen chargers into some environmental nonsense that can barely be seen through the chaos.

Then season 1 drops with excessively long loading screens, long login queues and invisible walls stopping you from progressing. Do yourself a favour and play something else whilst this alpha version of the game is developed on. Come back in 6 months andWhat are they doing? But after patch 1.1 and nerfs all over the place i felt like i got a big fc... slap in the face. i wasted money, time and first time in my life i am mad at developers that they sucked out all the fun from this game and ruind it.     Had a blast with this game when released, then came the nerfs prior to S1. Feels like Blizz does this with every game they put out. Players enjoy the game and then devs nerf everything into the ground to make it more of a grind. If you are planning on purchasing this title, I'd wait until they either fix their mistakes or play something else and keep the $70.

    The new patch fixes none of the current problems and nerfs all builds/experience... this makes it clear that nothing good can be expected going forward. Avoid paying full price for this game, as it is only worth it for the campaign. Such a shame.

    I want to have fun playing this game, because it's Diablo and one of my favorite franchises. But every time I log on and try to play I find the gameplay loop just isn't rewarding. The Unique's are mostly useless and most of the item affixes don't even matter.     At this point (and I'll admit, probably many points ago), Blizzard is just another game developer that stopped developing games and became another mindless corporation enslaved to their shareholders.

    Do yourself a favor and just support the few AAA studios left that still have a genuine passion for storytelling and game design, and of course indie studios where raw talent and passion thrive.

    This game is now hot garbage. It wasn't great before but now the dev's have nerfed several things on the eternal realm to nudge people over to the seasonal realms to spend more money on the battle passes. I'm done with this dead company being puppeteered by Activision and Blobby KoDick

    Level 98 barbarian, probably about 100-150 hours logged onto the game. After the recent patch, I have 0 desire to reach level 100 or even continue this game. Developers are so out of touch with the player base it's unreal. They refused my request for a refund, but I'm going to delete my character and uninstall the game out of solidarity anyway.

    I have played the free game from Grinding Gear Games's Path of Exile and I really loved it for the dark and gritty storyline. I have sunk in over $2,000.00 in buying their cosmetics.

    Recently I have played Tripod and Smilegate's Lost Ark game and it was amazing for its game play action and quality of life mechanics for their users. There was no funny business about not putting an easily accessible built-in timer for the world bosses or other events.

    They have events where they have eight users play together in the same game instance.
    This literally blew me away as it was more fun to play with more players.

    Also, I have sunk in over $2,000.00 in buying their cosmetics for customizing my characters.

    What I am trying to convey to you Blizzard as a company who needs to satisfy their shareholders is why are you trying to make a fun game very annoying to play with longer time gate mechanics? Not everyone can play like the top one percent diehard professional gamers.

    I have a job where I have to work over 50 hours per week. Why are you making me regret my decision about purchasing the ultimate edition of Diablo 4 during its pre-release?

    I do have an actual life you know where I regularly meet up with family and friends.

    I definitely think you will be losing me as a loyal customer who was potentially willing to spend a lot of money on the game's cosmetics.

    Please do clean up your act and really listen to the userbase and the top professional gamers who play for a living and have experienced the god awful decisions from your development team.

    I choose not to spout hate in my zero star review of Diablo 4 at this current time.

    The patch dropped on the 18th and I ahead repairing the bugs, they added useless nee unique items and reduced all DAMAGE RESISTANCES. You can't make this up, they made this game entirely unplayable for in-progression sorcerers. My character is. Ow useless, I do not get satisfaction from doing more work for less reward.     Lixo de jogo, diablo 3 é 1000x melhor. Voce nao se diverte em nada jogando, você nunca sente que está dando mais dano pq os monstros estão sempre no seu level, não importa onde você vá no mapa. Não existe a sensação de recompensa por estar matando ou ganhando novos itens. Resumindo, não perca seu tempo e dinheiro nesse jogo,

    70€ and the devs change classes around every few days as if they have no clue what they are doing. D4 is a pure money grab. Stay away. The only reason I give one! Point is, because the game looks great. But that's it. Blizzard can go and eat yellow snow

It wasn't perfect but it had a great feeling if leveling up and feeling the power of your work in front of your eyes felt great to see .     I enjoyed only the art and atmosphere of this game, also the story a bit. When it comes to bosses and mechanics there is nothing to say more than meh.

    While the future of the game is anyone’s guess, at present Diablo IV is a solid, but strangely unambitious take that fails to bring much new to the table. By the end of my travels, I was more than willing to put it down and take a break — somewhere amongst all the grinding, Diablo IV had unfortunately ground me down as well.
