    Blizzard killed the best thing about Diablo: the loot!! "legendaries" are a poor substitute for uniques. So much of the fun of Diablo used to be building characters that used uniques in, well, unique ways. Hell, just finding one was great. Now I dont even get a jump in the heartbeat when one drops because it will only be mats for something from the    it was fun right until it wasnt

    The art and sound is great. The game was OK but not much to do in endgame. Then blizzard messed everything up with a patch and the game is garbage now. They don't know how to balance or what players want. Hugely disappointed and uninstalled.

    Diablo 4 patch 1.1 proves the devs are out of touch with the community and do not listen to us. They created a math equation that favors specific affixes and then they cut them down...maybe they should have tested the equation? There's too many issues to list with just the patch, let alone quality of life issues they purposely created to monetize eventually.

    Now seasons have started and you can't even get on to play, I highly recommend anyone new to avoid this game, I think it's gonna take the devs years to re-learn what they learned in D3 and re-implement the various improvements they decided to skip.

    There are honestly so many wrong things about this game and blizzard that not even 5000 characters are enough to begin with. If you are into ARPGs just go play PoE 2 or Last Epoch, which are imo the only 2 best options on the genre. I cannot believe i spent 70 dollars on this, trully unbelievable

    Boring and repetitive game without any serious endgame. Loot is beyond poor and uninspiring.

    And then came the patch... absolutely killing the little bit of fun there was in the game. The devs obviously don't understand their own game.

    Where are all the quality of life changes? And the new content for season 1?

    Do not buy this game!!!!

    so grinded my ass off pre season to 100 which was a slog fest. min maxed as best i could, then got nerfed into the ground with a single update, only to start season 1 and its the same thing all over again except you get 3 hearts to choose from and they all suck. like seriously this is shocking. oh yeh and xp has been nerfed too so    First diablo game ive played and i gotta say is that it?

    The loot system, another pillar of the franchise, takes a significant hit in Diablo 4. Discovering compelling gear feels lackluster, as the majority of uniques and rare items are often underwhelming or outright useless. Obtaining uber uniques, the pinnacle of gear, feels like an unattainable dream for most players, leaving us disenchanted and longing for the joy of uncovering powerful items that define our builds.

    Adding to the disappointment is the limited storage space, exacerbated by the addition of gems, aspects, potions, and sigils, forcing players to choose between hoarding valuable items or making progress. Tedious inventory management hinders immersion in the game's world, rather than enhancing it.

    Character development suffers as well. Switching to a different build becomes an arduous task without a straightforward respec option, as players are left manually forgetting each node. This oversight demonstrates a disregard for player convenience and enjoyment.

    To make matters worse, any elements of fun or power that players discover are swiftly subjected to heavy-handed nerfs. Instead of embracing player enjoyment in mastering a particular playstyle or build, the developers suppress any sense of empowerment, leading to a frustrating sense of stagnation and discouragement.

    In conclusion, Diablo 4's lack of quality of life features and its tendency to obliterate anything enjoyable are disheartening aspects of a once-celebrated franchise. The absence of hordes of demons and the abysmal loot system dampen the excitement that once defined the series. Limited storage space and cumbersome character respec mechanics further contribute to the overall feeling of neglect towards player satisfaction.

    Blizzard had an opportunity to create a masterpiece that would captivate old and new fans alike. Instead, Diablo 4 stands as a cautionary tale of how a beloved franchise can falter when its core essence is disregarded. At its current state, the game is a far cry from its predecessors and leaves us longing for the glory days of the past.     You're told the endgame starts at 50 but in fact you have to start a useless grind to level 100 to finally be able to loot the best items. And then there's no endgame. You are farming gear for no reason. No leaderboards, no rifts. Just stupid dungeons that won't bring any fun. Just to fo into season and start the same stupid grind again for 3 months.

    Blizzard has failed in creating an entertaining game. It's a pity because the game looks and feels great, when it is working properly of course - the online nature of the game means you will probably spend a lot of time offline due to server issues.
    The development are a bit too far up their own behinds to understand that a game, next to depth and length, also needs to be enjoyable.

    Open world. Non-sequential quests. Tons of side quests, often found at random. Seems like a great recipe for    I really wanted to love this game. The characters are underpowered and constantly struggling just to walk down the street. Endless waves of monsters. Constant online requirements. Repetitive gameplay with essentially zero reward for the grind.

    I'm just sad. I got my Sorceress to level 51 and every choice by the company has been to ruin my experience. I give up. Maybe I'll come back in a year or two to see if they finally listened to their customers and made it a fun game to play. What a waste. I was looking forward to season one, but there's no point in the endless slog. There are better games than this out there, still waiting to be played...    … Expand

    The game was fun to play through at least one time, but making multiple characters was a tedious waste of time. The latest patch has ruined even the single-playthrough experience. Everything is more difficult and it just isn't worth the time even once.

It's as if they didn't anticipate the number of players eager to try the game, leaving us all stranded with connection issues and unable to even access the content we had paid for.

    The so-called "changes" the developers implemented have been nothing but infuriating. They seem to have a sadistic pleasure in making players rebuild their characters repeatedly, rendering any progress made in the game completely futile. I invested time and effort into building a character that I enjoyed, only to have it stripped away by an ill-conceived patch.

    The lack of availability of the season pass for months was simply inexcusable. Players who were looking forward to additional content and rewards were left in the dark for an unacceptable amount of time. It's like the developers couldn't be bothered to address their own issues, let alone keep the player base engaged with new content.

    Perhaps the most infuriating aspect of this whole ordeal is the developer's response to players' legitimate concerns. Instead of acknowledging the problems and promising to improve, they have the audacity to tell us to "play another game." How disrespectful can a game development team be to its loyal fanbase?

    The state of the Diablo 4 community is a testament to the developers' blatant disregard for their players. The community is not just unhappy; it's enraged and demoralized. We had high hopes for this game, but instead, we received a slap in the face with every poorly managed decision the developers made.

    In conclusion, Diablo 4's recent patch has been a complete disaster. The game is in shambles, and the developers' lack of communication and understanding of their player base has caused irreversible damage. I cannot, in good conscience, recommend this game to anyone.     I swear to god you will regret buying it. I don't even have motivation to play the first day of the first season until poe reset. I entered the game and waited 5 minutes to enter the first dangeon and crashed. It's been more than 3 hours season start still cant login :D I payed for this game :D It is the most expensive game in my inventory :D

    So there are games out there like Terraria, Minecraft, and Battlebit. Very low quality graphic games with amazing gameplay, Diablo IV is the polar opposite. This game looks great, honestly has good visual elements. That's where the praise stops.

    This game is complete trash, and if it was only graded on gameplay alone it would be a fat zero.     The magic is gone. It’s an endless twirl of hacking and slashing supported with zero incentive to keep going. Factor in, you’ll need to start over every three months in order to access the seasonal content.

    This is for sure the end of the Diablo series and it should be for Blizzard as well.    … Expand

Now with Season 1 we got the worst Patch i have ever seen nerfs to everything that made this game somewhat enjoyable. Even Horse cooldowns got nerfed! I write this review after uninstalling it, since I kept getting stuck in endless    Played this game since early access.

    All this slowing down of the game is just to funnel people into buying the premium season pass and get them into the mtx shop.
    Most expensive game I wish I never bought.

    - Monsters and difficulty levels are scaled up according to your level, so every time, every type of monster represents the same difficulty. There is barely any challenge in fighting with the mobs in this game.
    - Quests are very repeatable, and their main purpose is to push you into another corner of the map just in case you forgot to waste your time on useless grinding
    - Dungeons are repeatable as well. There are a few types of dungeons: short corridor + single room or short corridor + one cavern where you have to fight against a tiny group of enemies. A few seconds later, you can leave the place with a supertiny amount of exp and crapy loot. Please believe me - loading time takes longer than completing such dungeons. More complex dungeons are built from pre-configured coarse-grained modules, so after 3rd map, you can see the pattern: there is always a roundabout, and there is always a need to collect two things (keys, boxes, parts) that have to be delivered to the gate/blocked passage which leads to the big cavern/room with the boss. Always.
    Loot...loot is boring. Do you remember how every weapon, armor, or other stuff had a unique look and feel in Diablo 1? Forget about it in Diablo IV. A few repeatable shapes of each type (with slightly different colors) of your equipment in a multi-gigabyte game in 2023...
    Stats? Percentages and meaningless variables that you barely notice after a few hours.
    - Skills? Hahaha, Blizzard wanted to copy at least some tiny part from successful competitor PoE, so they added a skill tree. Tiny. Boring. Useless.
    There are plenty of issues like this, and neither DLC nor season will fix it because the game is absolutely boring and destroyed at its core.
    One of the most amazing things in Diablo was the cinematics. I played and progressed to the next Act mainly to watch the story development through outstanding pre-rendered animations.
    In Diablo IV most of the cinematics were played using the game engine.

    You CAN'T even buy a premium battle pass if you purchased the 100$ version that came with an accelerated battle pass because the game FORCES you to use it, even though Blizzard explicitly said you can save it for later seasons!

    Sure you can, but if you do you CAN'T get the premium battle pass because the game forces you to use the accelerated battle past first!

    The 1.1.0 patch completely gutted the game, and it was so widely hated they had to do an emergency livestream the following friday just to try and quell the backlash.

    This has been ONE of the BIGGEST flops i've ever seen, honestly.
    I don't know how they dropped the ball this hard, how they're so out of touch with their community.

    Diablo 4 is a game with a lot of potential, but the recent dev activity is incredibly worrisome. The intent seems to be to slow the player down in order to keep players grinding as opposed to actually improving the game itself. The nerfing of the eternal realm paired with the solutions to said nerfs in the new season is a very clear attempt to funnel people out of their current charactersDiablo 4 is a game with a lot of potential, but the recent dev activity is incredibly worrisome. The intent seems to be to slow the player down in order to keep players grinding as opposed to actually improving the game itself. The nerfing of the eternal realm paired with the solutions to said nerfs in the new season is a very clear attempt to funnel people out of their current characters and into new seasonal characters. The premium battlepass linked into this seasonal character progression makes it quite easy to see the likely motivation for these changes. The devs want to make money off of the current player base. The way they make money is by getting as many players as possible to play in the new season for as long as possible in order to get as much exposure to and purchasing of the battlepass as possible. This is frankly a very scummy approach and very concerning for the future of the game. Diablo 4 isn't a bad game, it has strong roots to it, and with a little bit of work, it could be an incredible and long lived game. However, the current direction that the game is taking unfortunately doesn't suggest this outcome. Things may eventually start moving in the right direction, but currently the dev strategy seems to be focused on profit over enjoyable player experiences. Hopefully the negative reception to their current direction moves things back on track, but with the current state and direction of the game, I'd advise waiting to see how things turn out. Paying $70 for a game that is seemingly being developed with the primary intent of farming you for more money is frankly not worth it.     - The open world is just a way to justify chores to impose on the player before they can enjoy "the game"
    - Nothing actually feels really good. That's harsh but here's what I mean :
    With the world and dungeons automatically scaling with your level, reaching a sweet upgrade in your talents makes no difference in the feeling of your fights. The same is true with gear, your get biggers stats but the enemies too. The wolves of the start of the game too, they will always be at your level. What a way to feel your progress !
    Also most of the gear looks ... Too realistic ? There's no fantasy in the gear you find, and they all look like the boring grey boot you found in your first chest.
    The game imposes you a lot of thing you will have to do before accessing the endgame which is SUPPOSED to be the sweet spot. And before you inflict yourself with tense if no hundreds of hours to get there, let me tell you, it's not. It's currently grinding dungeons. Which by the way are bad and boring and make you track back all the time and complete stupid objectives.

    Also there is no actually sweet Legendary equipment. Most new effect is so conditional that they are a best boring and at worst just very bad. Unlike D3 for instance where I was excited to find some uniques because they allowed some sweet unique builds. OH I ALMOST FORGOT. Even if we had sweet unique legendaries, you couldnt do that because after a while the investment in your paragon board is so heavy that it would be easier to build another new character with a new build thant to respect the one you spent hundreds of hours on. I know, that's what we all asked for right ?

    You thought that was bad ? Here's another :
    You thought 70$ for an ... OK-ish game is expensive ? LOL Now you gotta add 10$ for each season if you don't want to be stuck with majorly lackluster rewards on your season. Season which has a very underwhelming new mechanic to boot. That's ... Almost OK in a F2P game but in a 70$ game, WHO ARE THEY KIDDING?!

Diablo IV is NOT fun. It has been designed to maximize "player engagement" which looks great in board presentations. Then add in the season pass, not withstanding the default mouse pointer defaulting to "Activate Season Pass" when trying to access your progress, as well as the $10 per season price tag. All of this is to make Blizzard more money and make Diablo IV appear to be a successful game. Fun, player feedback, quality of life, etc. all are unimportant apparently. Someone create a new Blizzard North already. A company that cared about the players, fun, and what the community wanted in a game.… Expand

    it was mostly ok pre season 1 because we were patiently waiting and trying things before the seasons ( level 50 to 100 was still a chore doing the same Nightmare dungeons over and over ).
    But now , the seasonal quest is like over in a couple of hours , letting us only with the new malignent gem system , a big nerf on the said OP builds , and as i progressed as level 40 , in unlocked the xp bonus ...... 3% ....... seriously ????????
    We're in 2023 , we have lots of other games to play , we need to xp faster and to have FUN while doing it.
    The game is not for casuals except if you rely on maxroll OP builds , but then they changed the meta again? i wish all builds would be viable as long as you spent your points and gear smartly but that's not the case ..... u have to go OP build and for that u have to grind for god rolls and uniques, and that wouldn't be that bad coz it is a diablo game but the gear is only good when level 100 ( i mean 725+ ) so why make it such a boring chore to get there.
    helltides and world bosses also drop nothing good, rarely cosmetics , and almost never a good legendary or unique, they die in seconds in T4 when Uber Lilith one shot you at level 100 with a good twisting blade poison build......
    I just don't get it ..... isn't a game suppose to deliver fun ? it is a boring fest for now.
    only campaign is nice, then secondary quests ( but u get tired of it ) , renown will get boring in seasons if it implies to do all the same quests again.
    diablo 2 is an old game , and diablo 3 was actually fun after a bad start. But this at the moment .... they are more interested by microtransactions ( they just made new loading screen where you can see only your character ... i can see only one reason for that when they don't adress content issues or ultra slow leveling ).
    will probably be casualized as diablo 3 was. The game has potential, but it will be only when they will realize they are loosing their player base out of boredom    … Expand

    Graphics are moving the right direction when it comes to looking more gritty/dark like D1 and D2, and the new Paragon boards add much more complexity then D3. Character customization is great, and cool looking gear are also done well.

    However, once you get past the aesthetics, Blizzard drastically missed the mark on itemization, end game content and progression, boring dungeon backtracking, no loot filter, no searching inventory, punishing build exploration, not having multiple viable builds per class, annoying quests that have dialog you cant skip, tedious explode on death mechanics (3 times?!), level scaling in all content, almost no social features, no trading even with people in your party, and so much more. And originally they were moving towards a 3rd person Diablo vs top down...

    Despite all that, I was holding out hope for Season 1 since they seemed open to criticism, but not only did they do minimum effort by blanket tweaking existing item stats and skills, they did so in a way that was full nerf (minus the new socket gems). The worst part, is so many issues were already addressed in some form in Blizzard's own games (searching stash or Kanai's cube in D3, runewords in D2, etc), but that knowledge was not leveraged. This is an EA's Anthem-like example of the project having terrible direction at the high level... and I am sure issues were brought up by devs and ignored or pushed to the backlog.

    As a game dev and long time Diablo player, I will be skipping this Season, and doubt they will have any substantial updates until maybe Season 4. See you in a year.    … Expand

    I don't know why, but for some time AAA game studios treat games only as money making. How is it possible that Blizzard doesn't know anything about their game? 0/10 is not enough for a €70 title that was supposed to be a game for years. And also paid content in the game we pay for. Eh... why is it going this way. This game will be playable in about a year or more. In Season X

    Worse off than D3 was before it was saved and honestly i think this team lacks the experience and knowhow to fix it. It absolute mess. And when you adjust skills by 1% like they did in last patch and day "we buffed it" it just shows they have 0 f***ing clue what they are doing

    Stats and skills being the biggest problem and no build diversity whatsoever.

    Play d3/poe/wolcen or last epoch instead.

    greedy developers. The season pass does not pay off. Pumping began to take even more time. Nerf everything. I don't want to play it anymore. This is not the level of the game for 80 bucks.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. First and foremost, I am a casual gamer. I was not supposed to buy this game but bought it anyway because of how much I enjoyed D3 playing wizard/sorcerer.

    I played sorcerer for the campaign and toughed it out using a frost nova hydra build because it was the most suitable with my playstyle. Battles were usually long and arduous. Later on it became a task. I am mainly a solo player and only encounter other players during world events. That's when I see players 10 levels lower than my sorc from other classes dealing more damage.

    I don't usually look at the numbers (unlike the plyers at reddit which is cool) but the disparity between classes was in plain sight. I thought maybe the sorc will be stronger at 100 but happened upon a 100 sorc in a legion event. Both of us tried to take down a structure but it took painfully long until a druid "TOUCHED" it and took us out of our misery. Honestly it was demoralizing since the druid was lvl 77, I was at 86.

    Basically, a 80+ and a 100 lvl sorc combined, is weaker than a 77 druid. I retired my sorc that night. I would have uninstalled the game but I paid 150+ for this and I have not gotten my money's worth. If I can't get it from the fun aspect, I might as well get it from playtime.

    Created a rogue for season 1 and battles are finally looking up. But...

    Season 1 is underwhelming and frustrating. New dungeon mechanics make it hard to complete for malignant hearts but require a malignant invoker that is not even a guaranteed drop in the same dungeon. Am I supposed to run around dungeons for a "chance" to complete it because that, to me, sound like a scam and a good way to tell me to cut my losses and just uninstall.

    I expected a fun game and a little challenge. I guess Blizzard wanted to build a challenging game more than a fun one so now we get a patch that makes things more difficult, in the process lessening the fun aspect. The game has become more and more uninteresting.

    The only saving grace I have is I share the account with my partner and did not pay twice for a bad game.    … Expand

Allocate a skill point thats a disconnect. Try to get on your horse disconnect. Someone leveled up half a map away thats a disconnect. Disconnect in a nightmare dungeon gotta get a new sigil. Loot drops have been basically cut in half. Everything can one shot you off screen so in hell tides your cinders get cut in half and can't open anything. Everything in this game is built to make you hate even playing it. Maybe if the developers can take 3 seconds of verbally and emotionally abusing women maybe the game would be partly enjoyable.… Expand

    While the future of the game is anyone’s guess, at present Diablo IV is a solid, but strangely unambitious take that fails to bring much new to the table. By the end of my travels, I was more than willing to put it down and take a break — somewhere amongst all the grinding, Diablo IV had unfortunately ground me down as well.
