We don't have as much time as a few people. How do we get to level 100 when we haven't even reached 80 in this time? You will spit into the game just like in Hearthstone. Why are you punishing regular players and spoiling the fun of the game? Don't you have any smart guys, Blizzard?

Diablo 4 is one of the most boring arpg with paper thin depth. With stupid design decisions like aggresive level scaling and only 5 skill slots, your experience from level 20-100 remains the same.
Basically the entire game revolves around, press "basic" skill to get mana, press "core" skills to spend mana, everything else is mostly buffs, so you are using the same 2 attacks all the way.

If you try any other way like inserting 3 dps, you will your efficiency drop by a lot even on low levels.
The devs so self indulgent that they start spouting **** like build variety, which is total bs. There's about 2 builds probably that can be used till endgame, and some classes probably 1.
The side quests are so bottom tier fetch quests, which are, "go here kill 3 monsters or pick 3 things, and return"

There are quite a number of issues that plague the game that needed to be fixed, but imagine the devs is so out of their mind they didnt fix any of them and added "teleporting out from the dungeon now take 5 secs instead of 3"...... who in the right mind even thought of this?

They nerfed the hell out of "cooldown reduction" because they saw so many people are using it... do they even understand why so many people are using it??? Because waiting for cooldowns for 10 secs and then doing 3 attacks and waiting for cooldown again is NEVER fun. And so what they did? They remove the "fun".

I bought D4 because my last arpg was Diablo 2, and I was excited for a new one with the premise that they have learn from the mistakes of D3. But never again, remember guys, Blizzard is dead, the one making the game are no longer the same people with same vision. It's a group of self indulgent people thinking that they know everything better than you and will not listen to criticism.

Play Wolcen, Last Epoch, Grim Dawn, or Path of Exile, they are all miles better, yes, even Wolcen is much better. The only positive things about D4 is the art style, music, and cinematics, everything else is boring trash.

Diablo4 development team works really hard to make the game boring. Rather than buffing other builds, they decided to make every build bad in order to get to the 'balance'. I was a Blizzard fan, spent countless time on their game, but Diablo4 will be my last Blizzard game and never trust Blizzard again in my life.

patch 1.1 was the nail in the coffin for this dying game. People play games for fun. to escape dreaded lives sometimes even... And Blizzard has this destructive pphilosophy, where if a player having fun in a game, then that must be stopped some how. All in the name of "Balancing".... ARPG without the action. The entire rest of the game is a complete joke, nothing seems finished or thought out, you get forcefully and unnaturally slowed down at every possible point in the game.

The recent patch notes prior to the first season are just the tip of the iceberg, blizzard is absolutely tone deaf and somehow managed to kill of the last few parts of the game that were even remotely rewarding.

If you want to play the first season, you better not choose you class by playstyle or lore preference, because chances are, you will be unable to complete the endgame.
You need to look up guides and third party sites, to make absolutely SURE, that your favorite class did not just get gutted SO HARD, that it is now, in the truest sense of the word, UNVIABLE.

It is truly baffling and kinda scary, how incompetent the people in charge at a company this big can be. Thinking about how much money is involved here and how casually such brand ruining decisions are being made is crazy. Chances are, after the live service part of the game flops, some pretty wild excuses will be made to explain it.

On release, the game had quite a few issues.
    * Gearing is bad (you're literally only looking for % damage increases or your classes main stat), the mods on items have conditionals but you simply just don't use mods with conditionals that aren't up close to 100% of the time.
    * The horse is an absolute insult, it's barely faster than walking on foot even if if worked correctly and it does

    * Gearing is bad (you're literally only looking for % damage increases or your classes main stat), the mods on items have conditionals but you simply just don't use mods with conditionals that aren't up close to 100% of the time.
    * The horse is an absolute insult, it's barely faster than walking on foot even if if worked correctly and it does not most of the time on top of that your movement speed on the horse is dependent on your mouse distance from the center of the screen, what dev thought this was a good idea is beyond me, what actually happened is probably that someone ported this from their console implementation and thought it's good enough (it's really not).
    * The endgame basically doesn't exist. You farm the same Nightmare Dungeons and that's it, there are other activities but they're either much less fun or the game forces you into it, for example, you have to do Helltides so you get necessary materials for rerolling mods on items, if those weren't exclusive to Helltide events you just would not go there, on top of that the decision to make them timed makes it even worse, you can't even farm them whenever you want.
    * To add to the extremely bland and uninspired end game, everything is scaled, so you feel like you aren't really progressing towards anything, gameplay wise it really doesn't make a difference if you're farming Level 30 or Level 90 Nightmare dungeons, as soon as you can do higher tiers you just move up and all upgrades you made are relativized again making you feel like you constantly just spin in a circle, except the interface on the left now displays a higher Nightmare dungeon level.
    * The only thing you have to look forward to is Uber Lillith which, while it is a challenging fight it's mostly through throwing the same boring mechanic at you that just simply oneshot-kills you on contact.
    * The general balance is horrible, certain classes are leaps and bounds better than others, balance within classes is just as bad, not only is Sorcerer extremely bad in general, unless you play Ice Shards the already bad class becomes even worse.
    * To add insult to injury, Sorcerers also play extremely bad, you're expected to have a Spender skill which drains your mana and a generator skill which generates mana, eventually you're supposed to generate so much mana through gear and talents that you no longer require a generator skill, however, up until that point sorcerer is extremely painful since the generator skills are simply worthless and quite literally deal only around 5% the damage of your spender on top of not generating all that much mana so eventually you just come to the conclusion to just not use a generator since instead doing nothing and waiting for passive mana regeneration is more effective, which makes for insanely frustrating and straight up boring gameplay, on top of Sorcerers numbers in general being a joke compared to other classes.
    * While I've seen people praise the story I for the life of me cannot understand the general good sentiment, while the story itself isn't bad it's really nothing special, it contains a lot of sections that pretty much feel like filler which really isn't acceptable for the pricetag and the campaign being a main selling point, on top of that the villain often doesn't feel consistent and feels schizophrenic, however, not in a good, intended way, rather it feels like multiple writers were responsible for different sections of the game and said writers simply never communicated with each other.
While the cinematics are really nice and well made, the story they depict is pretty nonsensical and requires some amount of suspension of disbelief, the ending itself had potential to be quite good but then turns out hilariously bad and is simply just an incredibly bad setup for the next DLC.

All in all, the meme saying that caught on really is true and summarizes the entire game in just 5 characters; D4 Bad.

Oh, the devs aren't done yet though. All issues mentioned above are from the launch state of the game. You'd think the first major patch of the game would alleviate at least some of the glaring issues people had with the game, instead, they managed to fix almost nothing and instead managed to simply make the game straight up worse, for example, cooldown reduction was blanket nerfed which means Sorcerers have even more time to think about why they're even playing this game in between waiting for their cooldowns and mana to come back.

You know I could go on to talk about Diablo 4 and what I don't like about it but its better just to sell Diablo 2:

Diablo 2 is a much better game because it provides a better/darker story and has a lot of builds that you can make with a character that you pick and also provides you with better gameplay (that isn't restricted by not having mana potions) that you can experience by YOURSELF, with friends or randoms. Diablo 2 is a much more social game (if you play online) and this is because people are willing to trade with each other and also even play with each other (and which adds to the games fun).

Has a great potential, but it’s only used for milking users for their time and money. Less and less fun involved, Blizzard is only aiming to provide the least amount of fun where players still stick around.

Devs murdered an already lack luster looter. The end game is void if any engaging content and the loot is trash. The game is bad and they should feel bad. The season 1 patch is horrific. Instead of adding content and making the game more engaging and longer. They nerfed everything to make the game longer by making it SLOWER to progress.

This game is trash now after the update. Had hopes in the beginning but it's been completely ruined by the nerfs and devs not listening to their overall player base on what needed to be changed. None of the QOL features have been added, and instead took everything else that made the game playable and burned it to the ground. I wish I could get a refund.

We are missing every single quality of life feature present in previous Diablo titles (?!?!). Resistances, an integral, important part of any ARPG, are not working, and not getting fixed anytime soon. The stash has only 4 tabs, no search function (?!?). Respeccing is a chore as you need to imprint all your gear with new aspects, and have more aspects in case you'd like to revert back. Eternal realm characters completely nerfed to force players on the seasonal realm. I could go on, but in short, do NOT buy this game. You have been warned. Expand

The gameplay feels slow and unsatisfying, with long cooldowns forcing players to wait before engaging another pack of enemies. Additionally, the occurrence of random one-shot deaths and permanent crowd control effects only adds to the unpleasant experience.

Personally, I believe that an action role-playing game should be fast-paced, allowing players to swiftly navigate through maps and dungeons. Unfortunately, Diablo 4 falls far short of what I consider to be enjoyable for this genre.

It's disheartening to see the developers taking the game in this direction, and as a Diablo 4 player, I feel that, at best, they misunderstand the essence of the genre, and at worst, they disregard player feedback and fail to respect our time.

Yea, but what should i say... The Last Patch just killed the Game for me. High EXP Cuts, Nerfs (Offensive and defensive) around the Board and just giving a sht on the Community, that paid 70$ Minimum each. In Fact almost all my Builds are dealing like 30-50% LESS damage and dying faster. And they nerfed a important stat in the game "Player have #% Increased fun while playing Diablo4" by almost 100%. Giving us items for BUGGED Resistances (!!!) and will be fixed in Season 2 (?!). Are you fcking kidding me? Uber Uniques that are so rare, that no one will ever see one. Trading is a Joke. Crafting is bad. Helltides just got WAAAY longer. No Gear Upgrades after level 70 (just small ones). Stashes are way to small (playing several builds and 2-3 Classes and you are fcked). No Loot filter at all. The Hardest Boss in the game doesnt have specific Drops, lmfao.
I really had so much hope. But boy, here i am.. Bashing Blizzard on Metacritic. Blizzard is still so out of touch with the Community. Learned my final lesson now and will move on. I am using my Random Teleport to go to Baldurs Gate 3 or any other Game.

I'm not here to review bomb the game. The newest patch release is a big issue, but not the only issue. The bottom line is this game is not worth $76, not even close and I'm certainly not going to be buying any seasonal pass. And this is coming from someone who have played and enjoyed both Diablo 2 and Diablo 3.

    1. Storyline is boring. I know a lot of people don't play Diablo for the plots, but to me it's still an RPG game. Blood and gore is fine, but if that's the only thing you offer players, it gets repetitive and nobody cares. Any good storyteller knows that you have to balance the good and bad, levity with seriousness. Diablo has none of that.

    2. The LAG is INSANE for a mostly single player game. I'm constantly running in place like I'm playing an MMORPG with 40 people casting spells on my screen, and I know it's not on my side because I can log off immediately and get in another online game and the lag would be totally normal. This is tolerable in early games because of how easy it is, but a complete disaster when you get into nightmare dungeons later. At higher level, the game is literally unplayable when the lag hits. To say this about a single player game is absolutely crazy.

    3. Patch 1.1 made things a lot worse. It was supposed to be a class rebalance, to nerf OP builds and elevate others. It did neither. Necromancer is the only class I played, the OP build is still OP, just a little less so, other builds are still trash, but multiple game mechanics are made harder. This essentially rewarded all the early players who exploited glitches and broken mechanics to get to lvl 100 and farmed out all the best loots, while punishing new players with a much steeper grinding curve and difficulty level. The Helltide used to be the place to farm gear, but the new changes made it irrelevant. I literally could not farm 250 shards in an hour to open even just one mystery box, when I used to be able to do 2-3 an hour consistently. Again, punishing new players who didn't start on Day 1 or casual players who just want to take their time.

The list of issues with Diablo 4 goes on, I could keep going, but I won't, because I literally don't care about this game anymore. When you are looking at a sinking ship, you don't need to stand there and list out all the bad decisions that led to this juncture, you just need to get the hell off that ship.

The $76 was a scam, for maybe 20 hours of decent gameplay that reminded me of the D2 or D3 I used to enjoy. That's why I give this game 2 points. And now they want to charge more money for more content?

No thanks. Time to move on.

There are dozens of dungeons, but they all feel the same, repetitive. There are random world boss events that occur at odd hours and are easy to miss. There are helltides that are fun for a short while and then become very repetitive. The worst part of the game is the itemization, once you reach level 60ish, it is extremely difficult to get any upgrades, everything that drops is usually worse than what you already have. the grind becomes very tedious without a chance to upgrade, so there is very little reward for your efforts. I had a cautious expectation that the game will slowly improve and end game content will be fun and rewarding, however after seeing the patch 1.1, I have lost hope. It seems the devs are very disconnected with the reality of the game and what makes an ARPG click. I am afraid they are repeating Diablo 3 early drama, it took a major shift in the dev team to salvage Diablo 3, and seems we are going the same route. I doubt the current team is playing their own game, perhaps they're looking at spreadsheets and making changes. The patch 1.1 has removed the little fun there was in the endgame. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This game had a pretty Ok launch. It had many bugs, however player base ignored that simply because at first the game looked fun.
Once people started reaching the end of the campaign, leveling from 50-100 became a lot more repetitve, tho you as a player sticked to NMD, Helltides, Whisper Trees, World Bosses.
Once I got to level 70 it all started to be even more boring, suddenly my only options where Helltides and NMD, (and from time to time Worldboss).
Once you get to level 100, only thing left to do is grind, grind and grind. I get it, all of this might be part of an ARPG?
But then I decided to levelup a couple of alters and TBH, my sorcerer early game was fun, but after 50 I simply leveled it up just because I wanted to see its endgame, spoiler, mostly trash, and I tried several builds.
The rogue, however it was fun to play from the very early to the endgame, tho In comparison to my necromancer (my main char) it never dealt as much damage, but I don't see that as a problem, since necromancer was designed that way (a bit OP, to my taste).

    - More stash space.
    - Turning gems into artisan material (to save up inventory space).
    - Adding loadouts
    - Increasing the amount of end-game content.
    - Social features, like global chat, LFG
    - Many other features actively requested by the community.

Don't get me wrong I get it, you can't get all the content at the start of a game, but then I went over the patch notes for 1.1.0a and I could not believe what I was reading, they basically nerfed EVERY class, except for rogue (or better said, rogue was the one coming out of it in the better shape).
And they nerfed XP, consequently slowing everyone's progress in the game.

So I was pissed of, after investing hundreds of hours at the game Blizzard was just releasing a patch that effectively was making the gameplay WORSE, making the Eternal Realm not a viable option for the majority anymore. So the only hope was the Seasonal Realm

Today I decided, even after the disastrous 1.1.0a patch, give a try to the seasonal content, and after 5hours of play I just went off-line, everything is much more less fun to play.
And about balancing (the one thing they were supposedly addressing with the latest patch) mostly everyone is playing Rogue, Necro or Druid in this order and my necro which was OP is still OP, just doing half the damage.

In conclusion, i would not recommend anyone buying the game, at least for the time being.

With season 1, they gave players an inch in QoL, but a mile up the ass.

The base campaign was already terrible in both writing and experience (30-hour tutorial before the "real" game). Class balance was terrible to start, but was absolutely shafted for season 1. It's literally a "prevent every smooth and fun build" patch, with a side dish of "Barbarians killed my parents, nerf

Only good things they did was fix level requirements for gear and make reputation easier to grind. Unfortunately, they decided to 1) nerf all classes 2) nerf offensive capability overall 3) nerf defensive capability overall 4) buff enemies 5) drastically nerf xp gains 6) made item affix pools larger 7) specifically took a massive dump on Barbarians with the new additions to their heart/aspect/unique, just to stay consistent with the treatment they gave the whole pre-season.

This is not a review bomb, for any fanboy white knights that think it's crazy someone wouldn't like their crap game. The game is just bad. It's full of annoyance and hardly any fun. The developers intentionally nerfed eternal realm characters to push people to seasons where there will be monetization. There is nothing fun to do. Don't waste your money.

I am a casual player (play 1-3 days a week for about 1-4 hours).

Huge diablo fan, i played D2 for thousands of hours and D3 for a few hundred. I have been waiting for D4 for years playing D2 vanilla and mods until the D4 release. At first, i thought that the game looked great, but realized how much of a sh*t show it was pretty fast. (Played as hard as i could with a job and a 9month old

(Played as hard as i could with a job and a 9month old baby ~200h hours since it just came out….. I mean it was D4!) I bought the 4 days before release including the season 1 battle pass, but the game has been uninstalled and will stay until this game becomes fun.

I spent thousands of dollars on Path of exile because i strongly believe on supporting games you like.

This thing is nothing less than a really really really expensive bad game.

Long Time ARP player with 3000+ Hours in D3 and 4000 in PoE and couple 100 in D4, And D4 has to be the worst ARPG release even worse than Wolcen which was broken on launch.

Blizzard does not care about fun or enjoyment nor anything outside of getting your money.

Long time fan of the series but this game is so time consuming and unrewarding. I paid 100 dollars for this game because I was so excited for it. The developers are pathetic in their attempts to improve and instead make this game more and more unplayable.
I wont be playing again... took my money already though so I guess they win?
Worst 100$ I have ever spent.

It was good until it wasn't. Nostalgia made me buy this game, the grind made me quit. I'd rather eat my own eyeballs then continue to play this garbage...it would be less painful.

I must say, I had high hopes for Diablo 4, but my experience has been nothing short of disappointing. From start to finish, the game has been plagued by constant nerfs, an out-of-touch development team at Blizzard, a lackluster Season 1, and characters that feel utterly horrible to play.

First and foremost, the never-ending stream of nerfs is simply infuriating. It seems like every time I find a powerful build or an enjoyable playstyle, Blizzard swoops in with their heavy-handed adjustments, leaving players frustrated and demotivated. This relentless nerfing not only ruins the game's balance but also destroys any sense of progression and satisfaction.

Blizzard's incompetence and disconnection from their player base are evident in almost every aspect of Diablo 4. They seem to be ignoring feedback and simply pushing ahead with misguided changes that alienate longtime fans. It's evident that the developers lack a genuine understanding of what makes the Diablo series so beloved and compelling, resulting in a watered-down experience that feels like a pale imitation of its predecessors.

Understanding that gameplay is more important than profits is crucial for a "game" company.

Because it is a game company, after all.

There seems to be no trace of consideration for what makes the users enjoy the game.

It is unpleasant to sense a focus on what will inconvenience the users and create unnecessarily long playtimes.

$100 that I feel is the most regrettable in my life.

It’s almost like Diablo 4 developers are consciously fighting against everything that made classic Diablo fun. [Issue#262, p.80]

While the future of the game is anyone’s guess, at present Diablo IV is a solid, but strangely unambitious take that fails to bring much new to the table. By the end of my travels, I was more than willing to put it down and take a break — somewhere amongst all the grinding, Diablo IV had unfortunately ground me down as well.

The best Blizzard launch in a long time and a worthy game to be called Diablo.
