    Best diablo game out so far. That has decent graphics, at least! Unfortunately.
    And for the people being angry at blizzard: The remastered version is not even made or maintaned by them. Blizzard North made the base game and Vicarious Visions made the overlay.

    Absolutely fantastic remaster, probably the best I've seen of any game. It's very true to the original (in fact you can press a button to swap to the original 2000's version) in that it doesn't try to modernize or QoL everything, which is great because we saw what happened with D3.     quite remake amazing to see old game with this detail. even zooming camera close pushing like third person view game. hard to play like that but for detail still intact. ı cant give 10 bcouse not offline like old relase and not have pc physcal rlease which is prety low respect legacy of pc this game.

    Resurrected is in the most literal way possible 21 year old game, with a visual update.
    And that is what the fanbase wanted, the same game they loved running on modern systems, and maybe looking a bit prettier, and the odd quality of life improvement.     If the worst majority of negative comments about a game are that the characters in the character select menu are not as pretty as the older ones, you know people are grasping at straws about the actual game.
    I can't judge the comments made about servers and multiplayer though, as I have only played the game in single player mode (like back in the day) and not encountered any issues, and I can't and won't deduct points for issues I am not encountering.
    I also will not deduct any points for political and social issues plaguing Blizzard/Activision, this game was made by a big team, overwhelmingly filled with people who are not to blame for these issues, and boycotting/reviewbombing a game they likely spent a good chunk of the past years on is just unfair if the game is what it is supposed to.    … Expand

    Yes there are server issues currently but they are being worked on. These will be ironed out over time. But the actual game is very well done and captures the original wonderfully.

    As a matter of fact - that is .. objectively .. the game is FAR from a revelation or jaw dropping. It is .. solid. For the most part - it is a remaster that does two things:

    - compatibility with modern systems (widescreen, resolution, networking)
    - updating the graphics

    The first point is the most important one, because the original Diablo 2 simply did not run on a modern system anymore (not without tweaking it more than simply installing the old CDs)

    The second point - ... well, it certainly got an update. Its graphics are modernized - and admittedly better than Diablo III - that is more detailed, less cartoon-ish. Especially the reflections and the light and shadow play is amazing (in levels like catacombs or similar)

    I would not say the graphics really up top of the line though. They "feel" about as good as the old graphics "felt" when it originally came out. (which is .. good enough, not amazing) - models look better, the environment looks better but still like the original one (so, it is a very faithful remaster) - the animations however are kind of bad - even compared to the old one. (they feel less dynamic and really unnaturally stiff)

    All in all, it is very nice to see a "dark" Diablo game with contemporary graphics .. that is challenging and well balanced.

    I am sorry to say that Diablo III, compared to Diablo II is like a "my little pony mod pack" on super easy difficulty. In fact .. i find Diablo III late game content about as challenging as a mobile app clicker game .. while Diablo II takes skill and situational judgement as well as thought (because you cannot simply respec on the go)

    A certain 9/10 for me (well, in the early days .. it has massive server problems, but i would not vote it down for it - as those are bound to get fixed soon enough)    … Expand

    It's a pity that the achievements were not brought to the PC.
    Some mechanics require modern overhaul.

    Gameplay is almost unchanged. The beginning can be difficult, depending on the class, and there's no hand holding. Once you get going, the first 90 levels are easy, the rest is a horrible grind. As it should be. The same goes for farming items and it's awesome.

    If you're the kind of cry baby that destroyed Diablo III with your incessant "I WANT EVERYTHING ONE WEEK AFTER RELEASE" and one week later "I HAVE EVERYTHING, THE GAME IS BORING", kindly stay away from Diablo II. This is gaming as it was meant to be. Easy to learn, hard to master.

    I think they could have done even more regarding UI and stash improvements. A better lobby with game tags for farming, story, trading. A loot filter and maybe optionally a buff bar. Stash search, more stash space, a stash tab for resources. But then again some might argue that it would take away from the original feel, but these are just things I have come to expect from modern games.    … Expand

    I have a very fond memory of the original game and I was happy when this was announced. I've been playing with work colleagues for a week now and there have been a few bugs that i noticed:

    There have been server and database issues on days 1 and 2 of launch with a small percentage of players locked out for a week due to old CPU architectures. There are a few bugs too, however, they are mostly minor and hard to notice.

    The downside of the game content is mostly with the lobby UI. It's awkward and looks more outdated than the original and QoL features such as filters should really be present. On the plus, there are many new QoL changes in-game with more found in the options.

    D2 fans will not be disappointed, but those who haven't played D2 before might still have a difficult time simply because older games tend to be less intuitive. However, D2R is a remaster as opposed to a remake so changing core game design is perhaps unrealistic.

    Overall, the new 3D engine and art are incredible and it feels like a significant improvement over the original; Vicarious Visions should be proud. My biggest gripe is it feels a bit rushed out and hence issues within the first week, unfortunately, this is typical of Activision and most modern publishers.

    In terms of negative reviews, the most censor worthy content is female bosses and monsters, yet they are unchanged. The criticism appears to focus on female characters who were made to look more realistic. However, it seems these identities are so invested in breast size that the mere sight of reduction is enough to create an existential crisis. I think most people can likely cope, however.

    If you feel you can look past the political climate and want to experience a classic game, then D2R is an excellent choice.    … Expand

    The game is absolutely Diablo 2. Graphics looking good (and Amazon looking good as well, it is an ancient warrior, not Marvel superhero). No lags for me for 2 days.

    Launch was a bit rough, as me and my friends had problems with connecting to the servers - but that was something that we were expecting, due to the high interest that gamers all over the world took into this game.

    Now, about the game. It looks georgous. They added lights reflections, shadows, new models, improved sound. Everything is polished to the highest level. In the old version when you were fighting enemies, sometimes you had too look at your opponent name on the health bar to figure out who or what are you fighting. In Ressurected version every enemy, weapon, item and NPC received brand new 3D model and it looks stunning.

    I'm not sure how new, younger gamers will find Diablo 2: Ressurected, but honestly they don't have to like it and that's all right. On the other hand there is an army of players who love it, who played it around original D2 release and wha come back to the new version with a huge smile on their faces, while being soothed by the overwhelming, warm wave of nostalgia.

    Long story short, I think that this acRPG is one of the best remasters that lately I had pleasure to play.
    I'm happy that it came out and I want to congratulate Blizzard and most of all Vicarious Visions (company, who made it happen for Blizzard) for the job well done.    … Expand

Whether I disliked the boring combat, convoluted skill trees or moronic itemization ("legendary and unique" items dropping every minute, yay!) I always found myself returning to D2 even though it was outdated in some aspects.

Sorry I'm not a streamer that's sinking 12-16 hours a day into this game and constantly hoping on and off servers and games to ruin it for everyone by crashing it out. I had about a 2-3 hour window after release where I had RL obligations so when I was able to sit down and enjoy it, I was immediately immersed. The online play has had a couple rubber banding issues, but nothing that has negatively affected me. And yes there is an offline mode too. And no your offline character cannot play online. Which is good, to curbs the 20 some odd years of hacks, glitches, and malpractice the previous titled had to endure.

    Graphics are phenomenal to what they're worth. It's still just Diablo 2 but they made it pleasing to the 21st century at least. Disregard all accusations of censorship by others. Your imagination fueled what the game looked like before. You didn't know if it was a nip slip or a high cut dress in the original game anyways. The pixels made it look a little more out in the open because all all there was to separate a cleavage or a thigh. A giant line of pixels in between. Your immersion isn't ruined. You're still playing the same game. And a busty character never actually was the reason why you played the game to begin with. Gore is still there. Dark, gritty theme is still apparent. And the new character look amazing. Sorry your characters don't look like models anymore. You're playing DIablo 2 though. The characters look like they belong on a roster of veterans and badasses that are setting out on an adventure that will reshape the world. You're just finding things to complain about. Game looks amazing.

    Story and gameplay: Still Diablo 2. And what was in the OG is in D2R. And that's why the marks are as high as they are. Because the marks for the OG in my mind are roughly the same.

    Bugs: Haven't encountered any outside of an occasional rubber band. And judging by the streaming going on and multiple people well into their 80's and 90's within the first few days, Ubers groups, etc. It looks like the bugs "everyone" is experiencing is superficial. You're going to run into them regardless in any game, but it looks like the bugs in this game aren't affecting anyone too drastically. Again though, just something people are finding a reason to complain about something is all. And isn't affecting high level characters, so shouldn't affect the average person.

    I'm going to rank this game close to the same as the original. Because it deserves every merit to be ranked up there with it. An amazing game that's moving into the 21st century and something old and new players can relive, enjoy, or get into. It brings me the same joy as the OG did when I was younger. I just way more obligations in life than I did when I was like 12 to enjoy it as much as I did before. But I'll always make time for it.    … Expand

    It is pretty good, I have never played diablo 2, but it is good and it looks amazing.

    I say improved art, but I loved going back to the old artwork. The imperfect graphics actually made the game look a lot scarier. It’s really hard to outdo the original graphics, but the new ones did a satisfactory job simply being “modern.” The reason why this is a massive pro is that I can’t stand the font of old Diablo. It would legitimately prevent me from playing the game. The changes made to the game made it more friendly to newcomers.
    Diablo II excels at the grind for gear. It takes hours upon hours. But the game’s theme of hell and the gameplay is actually very clever. You grind for rare gear (people would hate me for making this comparison, but this is how it feels for me) which feels an awful lot like shiny hunting in Pokemon. Players fight wave after wave, exit the game, and do it again. Over and over and over again. You beat the game, and you start over—only to realize that the game’s gotten harder. You complete the same quests, fight the same bosses, the same monsters, everything again, except they deal much more damage and can take a lot more punishment. It’s kind of how I’d imagine hell would be—a lack of change—and it’s brilliant. The classes are diverse, and you can tackle the game at your own pace.
    Death is punishing as you might lose all your hard-earned gear you grinded hours for. It’s fun I guess, but I can tell you I had to spend 5 or so hours at times trying to recover gear after dying. Quitting was not an option because I would lose a lot more than 5 hours worth of gear. It’s something I could do without personally.
    Newcomers of the game won’t strategize properly for the final difficulty where monsters can have total immunities. It’s important to strategize and have multiple sources of damage. Otherwise some battles will take a very, very long time.
    All in all, playing this game, I recognize why it’s considered a gem (especially when looking at the old graphics). It is also coop which means you can strategize and tackle the game with friends, though the game does not support cross play. Even if the price tag seems a little high, it will no doubt occasionally go on sale. I am optimistic about the future of the genre, but Diablo II celebrates all the good from the good old days.. If you are into the genre, Diablo II Resurrected is a pretty safe bet.    … Expand

    It plays exactly like the original to the point where you can literally toggle between the remastered and original game, should you let your masochistic desire for blurry pixels get the better of you. The performance could be better -- on the bare minimum game settings (@ 1440p) my RTX 1060/2600x struggles to hit a consistent 60fps, which seems puzzling for a game with so few assets. (If you're in a similar boat, switch your display mode from fullscreen to windowed and maximize said window. You'll get your buttery smooth Windows hardware cursor back no matter how poorly D2R performs "in the background.")

    Is the gameplay amazing in 2021? No. Some levels are tedious. The inventory is awkward and small. There are goofy mechanics: stamina bars, odd nomenclature (e.g. I'd forgotten that "attack rating" kinda means "hit chance"), annoying dialogue ("I'lL pUt tHaT tO goOd uSe" repeats my companion), etc. But to focus on these issues is to miss the point. Diablo II: Resurrected is explicitly a restoration project, not a greenfield project, and it delivers. If you want a new Diablo game, go follow the new Diablo game. They're on #4. There are blog posts about it and everything. Have fun.

    Does D2R have the same magic as the original? Of course not. Childhood nostalgia can't be matched. But while running though desert sands & lush forests summoning skeletons, I do feel the occasional same pangs of mystery and wonder I experienced in the original.

    The folks at Blizzard wanted to resurrect Diablo II and they did exactly that. If you want a modern hack-n-slash/RPG, pick up Hades or Grim Dawn. If you want to replay Diablo II, buy this game.    … Expand

    this is an amazing game that brings retro feelings back..the original is unplayable with the old graphics i try to play it but i couldnt and the resurrect is like new game base over the old..there many haters here but thats nothing to do with the game but "political staff" if you like titan quest diablo3 type of game is a must..and also its not an easy game like tha new ones

    It has some start problems and questionable character redesign, but overall - this is a really decent remaster. VV somehow managed to overhaul all the graphics, but to keep feeling and atmosphere of the game. It looks almost like it was taken from my imagination of 20 years ago.

    Solid 9/10 from me.

    Diablo 2 was the peak of action-roleplaygames which can now be enjoyed which better graphics. Don´t be mad about missing quality-of-life functions, that was the grind those days and a medal has to be earned in a honest way.

    Vicarious Visions nailed it. To everyone there: you accomplished something wonderful with this remaster. The care that went into it is evident in every part of the game. (To the negative reviewers who complained about the rough launch -- yes it was frustrating, but anyone who expected that to go smoothly had unrealistic expectations.)

    Great remaster. Everything is as in the 20 years old father.

    I don't understand the crying about the old mechanics. It's EXACTLY what is expected from this game. Issues with servers were only in the very beginning because of the huge amount of players. Now everything is OK.

    I recommend this game.

    This is almost perfect remaster of the classic game.
    Diablo II: Resurrected feels absolutely the same as the original game from 2000, but looks just amazing. Despite few bugs on release, this remake far exceeded my expectations.
    I'm sincerely grateful to Vicarious Visions and Blizzard for this great job!

    I love the game! I can't stop playing and thinking about it! Sends me back with nostalgia hard. Server issues on launch will get fixed. I look forward to what VV has in store next for Seasons or additional content! :)

Even New World struggles, keeping their players in the queue for hours, and they run it on Amazon's server cluster. What are we allowed to expect of an online game on release? I find it understandable to let off some steam. I did curse a lot. On the second day I was able to play a lot more, and during the rest of week I could even start a couple new session within an hour (for countess and baal runs). So they fixed it, at least the major issues, which found very much to my liking. De-sync still exists some times, so I'd avoid playing hardcore just yet, give the devs some time to make the game more stable.

    Antique controls: Yes, they are antique (if 20 years is enough to call it antique) because they didn't change it. They kept every mechanical aspect of the old game, and re-done all the graphics. My favorite is the running animation of the avatar when it apruptly changes it's direction. Not only mechanics, but also gear, runewords, skills, attributes and all that is kept as it was, which enables me to take an old build guide and play a class as if I was playing the old game, but with excellent visuals. I like how they changed the graphics and animations, but what I like more is that they didn't change anything else. Well, some things bug me still, e.g. getting to a portal when surrounded my enemies, but that's kept same as well.

    So if you like contemporary gameplay, go for D3, Path of Exile or similar popular isometric ARPGs, this game is for those who liked it before, and maybe those who enjoy 'antiqury' games in general. I still play Need for Speed Underground and Tony Hawk's Pro Skater and Dark Souls, but struggle to commit to buying any new ones. Actually I'll get Cyberpunk anytime soon, but as with Witcher 3 I usually always wait until all major bugs are accounted for.

I saw a comment on pay to win boosts and I honestly have no idea what it’s referring to after 30 hours with the game. Although I know players develop trading economies outside the game, the game is not forcing micro transactions or passes in-game. I also don’t understand giving a “0” because you don’t like the art direction of one or two characters. Really? I hate their face, therefore the whole game is crap?! Dark Alliance got less hate than this and the game was just a re-release in 4K. This is a beautiful game that retains the historical core gameplay. It’s exactly what I wanted. Not a re-make, not a reboot, just an incredible way to experience the original game. Running the game in performance mode on Series X is a thing of beauty. This game is the top game in my console right now. It even made me go back to Diablo III as I start to understand the narrative a little more between the two games.… Expand

    The game is still great and even better with the small QoL improvement like the increased stash or not getting closed out from cow king. I have not had any mayor problems playing. Graphics are absolutely beautiful. Complainers armada cant drown out the quality of the work put into this game.

About the only thing I could wish for is a better performance. The graphics are amazing because of the spot on art style, not because they're so state of the art.     Stop review bombing this game. You really have nothing to complain about. You’re probably inventing bugs that don’t exist cause you don’t know how to program a simple HTML document let alone write a game in a language like C++. This game stayed true to the original and I love the new graphics. I missed Diablo 2 and it’s great to see it back.

    Almost perfect. I didn't like the coverage of the cleavage on some of the models. I play offline so the server issues don't apply to me. However, I can see why such a low rating is given due to server instability.

    Great remaster of one of the best game ever made! I admire graphics improvement and smooth characters animations. VFXs are also great! No unnecessary changes have been made. This is still the same good old Diablo II but now it looks wonderful!

ItThis is an insanely good game. I spent 2000+ hours on it since release despite the fact that I prefer games with modern sci-fi theme without heavy RPG style progression systems. I don't like games with medieval or fantasy settings but this dark gothic horror style mixed with beautiful outdoor environments and amazing music creates an atmosphere that makes it difficult to stop playing. It is so immersive. Even simple things like standing in the town next to the campfire and organising my stash are a pleasant experience.

    It's fun to fight against the monsters that have very rewarding animations and sound effects when they take damage or die. The boss fights can be very difficult, sometimes they seem to be impossible to kill with characters that aren't levelled and geared up very well so the only choice might be retreating and coming back later with better skills or equipment (or another player with a stronger character if you play online). The upgrades to the equipment often feel powerful and meaningful. The items, the crafting and the related online economy and trading are amazing, they turn this game into a fantastic PvE looter.

    After realising how much I like this game I tried Diablo 3 too but that got boring after a hundred hours or so because it was too easy and the items were less interesting. The graphical detail and the art style are also better in Diablo 2 Resurrected.    … Expand

    The best way of describing this remaster is puppeting the original game with better visuals and sound. Gamers can easily switch between the OG game to the current by pressing L2 and sensor button which shows the journey of the game.

    The cinematics have been revamped as well and noticed the iconic music is a lot cleaner. Controller support has also been added obviously for console and is a breath of fresh air. It can be annoying especially with Necromancer's Corpse explosion where you can't specifically blow up the right corpse and the auto aim is not strategical compared to point and click with the mouse. Although, getting to skills is faster by mapping them to buttons and shoulder buttons.

    Everything else is the Diablo you know and love. PS5 gives the option for performance mode to 60fps which the OG was known to be stuttery at times barely hitting 30. Character and weapon models have been changed and the game with HDR in play makes dungeon crawling in the dark fantastic.

    There has been a lot of ease of game issues addressed, the key one being the inventory space and shared stash.

    Multiplayer I found to be way easier on console compared to PC as you can just invite your friend in game. On PC you have to create an annoying private lobby for your friends to join in.

    Overall, I love the game. Pure nostalgia has hit, and I'll be invested to getting these 7 heroes to Hell mode and try to get a Platinum (looks at the Hardcore mode Lvl 99 with fear).

    9 out of 10 for console

But instead of redeeming yourself by making ONE single decision right during the last 10 years by delivering ONE single GOOD game for diversion, you present us this unfinished hardcore mess of a game where nobody can just play and have fun.     Edit/Update Nov. 15. - There was a patch and now the waiting queues are almost gone, you can immediately join new games now after a typo etc. and they added a countdown to at least be able to see how long you have to wait instead of that stupid error warning. No progress lost since, and i can play with people in my friends list every time now. Hard Crashes are more rare now. There are good improvements here.     Pretty good remaster in general. It got downvoted hard because of connectivity issues (which are still present, but way less severe), model design changes, some bugs (e.g. GPU usage) are annoying.

    But It's still old good diablo 2 in a modern wrap. Probably one of few good Blizzard releases in a couple last years. Because they haven't ruined the core of the game, lol.

    it's not perfect, but is probably one of the best games from Blizzard in the lasts cuple of years, and that's just because is almost the same game of 2000s.

    First off, I played the campaign with an offline character and it was a very good experience. About online play I cannot say anything. Offline is very solid though.

    So, this is a very good remaster of D2. Graphics are good, combat is fun, overall atmosphere is dark and mysterious. I you do all quests and some grinding, you will need 30-50 hours.     Reproducing the original work faithfully. Diablo 2 was an actual masterpiece back then, and exactly contrary to WC3:Reforged, D2R is quite a good remaster. Mostly because the original game is so excellent, but D2R is recommendable just by reflecting it well.

The score would be a lot lower if I wanted to play online, but I don't most of the time. I can see why those who do play online are frustrated though. The game can be archaic for some especially if you played Diablo 3 first like I did, but I've adjusted to that.Bugs and server issues aside, I personally have had a lot of fun.     Amazing remaster! Feels like nothing changed until you press F5, and that's when you realise how much work was put into it. Diablo 2 and Starcraft 1 are the best examples of a proper remaster. Unfortunately, since the gameplay didn't change at all (which is the point of a remaster TBH), the age of the gameplay really feels, it's just not as fun to play as 20 years ago.     Multiplayer in the game does not work 48 hours after starting the servers.
    Otherwise, probably a good remaster to try out, of course, which was not fully possible.

I never ran into them yet on hardcore mode offline mode. Now for the Offline mode I believe that the score is at least a 10/10 must buy. There hasn't been any crashes none at all.     For for online it's clearly a 4/10 due to disconnecting... (pack with players and blizzard hasn't stress test the online version of the game. That is the only thing that needs fixing and hope they do this soon.

    I'm more of a single player game so I say that to be fair I think this is an 8/10 so far they still need to improve the remaster online multiplayer a little more. As a veteran I always play solo anyway due to bad connections for internet. I just hope it's not to late to have single player for diablo 4 when it releases because I wouldn't be playing it because of it's online mechanics. Shame and sad though.    … Expand

Второй баг - не улучшалась шмотка по квест Чарси, тупо не было кнопки. Вылечился баг аналогично первому. Мне вроде повезло, у некоторых хуже, но я так понимаю, у большинства опять же были проблемы из-за лагающих серверов.
    3. TCP/IP. ОБОЖЕ ОНИ УБРАЛИ TCP/IP!!!! Вопят чуваки которые в диаблу не играли, наверное, никогда и ставят 0. Убрали и ладно, кто вообще собирается в 2021 году играть по LAN?
    4. Амазонка. Да, сделали немного "уродливей" чем в оригинале, но на релизе не тот мужик, который был на бете. В целом нормальное лицо. Суровая, но красивая женщина с копьем. В целом модели персонажей стали имхо более реалистичными. Варвар вместо лица младенца получил бритую голову, щетину и черты 35-летнего мужика. Огорчает что друид стал больше похож на барда, а некромант на прадедушку некроманта из оригинала, но я переживу.
    4. Нет поддержки модов. Меня, как человека иногда играющего в PD2, это немного огорчает. Надеюсь в будущем поддержку модов добавят.
    5. Слишком высокая цена. Тут не поспоришь. Я надеялся, что хотя бы сделают скидку обладателям оригинальной игры (которая, между прочим, на текущий момент стоит 1100 руб), как сделали с dark souls. Хрена с два.

    А теперь плюсы.
    1. Графика. Игра выглядит шикарно.
    2. Атмосфера. Имхо передали атмосферу оригинала, это ли не главное в ремастере?
    3. Нет координальных изменений, меняющих геймплей. Считаете что Д2 устарела и т.п.? Не вопрос, идите в ПОЕ. Есть куча людей, кому Д2 травится такой, какая она есть.

    В общем, имхо ремастер удался. Большинство претензий либо надуманны, либо уже не совсем актуальны, а плюсы их явно перевешивают.    … Expand

Really?! It's an action-rpg not a wanking simulator. Now my points to prove this game deserves the 8 out 10 scores:

    Pros:
    + beautiful, up-to-date graphic - including all models, levels and even polished items and gear,
    + high resolution, completely remade movies,
    + all original squeaking, yelling and moaning of monsters kept, the fallens mumbling "bishibosh", so is so funny,
    + the original D2 atmosphere is preserved: 1st act full of dungeons, murky woods and gloomy catacombs, act 2 with it's sunburned deserts, full of ancient Egypt-like tombs, and rainforest, just epic
    + incredible satisfying combat, especially Hell difficult, requiring not only smashing keys, gear, but often specific tactic to counter given monsters resistances,
    + repetitiveness in positive way - you have 7 unique classes to master with 3 different skill trees, you can even make a axe-throwing barbarian, though no guarantees you are going to finish a game with it,
    + Finally, it does not require Internet connection to play offline - i was playing offline characters during servers maintenance yesterday (26.09 19:30-22:30), just turned off Internet connection and no authentication was required or whatsoever,

    Cons
    - the Stash is to small, you still have to create "mule" characters if you want to collect gear for other characters,
    - the mercenaries still behave in a dumb way - attacking souls in act IV or barricades instead of monsters, should be given better AI with stance - defensive, offensive, passive etc.,
    - well I can agree with some people asking for TCP/IP games (why the heck you have removed that)?,
    - a minor bugs regarding monster AI, some of them just stare at, while you are slaughtering them, a more aggressive stance during hell nightmare-hell difficulty would be welcome.

    Well, this is it, I am returning to butcher the demons on hell difficulty with my meteorb sorc and then going to enjoy the game with Assa, Javazon and IK barbarian and probably Ele or Shapeshifting build dru ;) So see you in about 3-6 months ;)    … Expand

    Beta works fine and now the game wont start because of AVX which was never an requirement... gj blizz! edit: After AVX fixes its just a fine game and looks very good. now u have to fix the server issues and there will be a much better score!

    Don't listen to the trolls here who are giving this game super low ratings because of server instability in the first few days. Everyone was warned and knew there would be issues, this is perfectly normal for a large scale release. And yes things like character models changed a bit, but this is a grqphical remaster, what did you EXPECT? It is impossible to please everyone.

    With that out of the way, as a lifelong ARPG player I am happy to say that I'm hooked all over again with D2 resurrected. The graphics are top notch and the devs have made excellent quality of life changes. D2 resurrected is certainly a relic of the past with many dated and clunky mechanics, but coming back 20 years later you really see just why this game was a genre defining masterpiece.

    The atmosphere, character development, itemization and pacing is just excellent and d2 resurrected shines brightly even decades later. My only complaint is that they didn't do even more QOL changes but I anticipate more improvements to come.

    I played the original D2 to death when it came out. I was looking forward to this remaster more than any other game and preordered it as soon as I could. Played in both the closed and open betas and loved it. Had all 5 available classes through Act 2 (the limit in the betas).

    Then launch day hit. Loaded up the game, excited to play for real and.... nothing. Could not get past the    I played the original D2 to death when it came out. I was looking forward to this remaster more than any other game and preordered it as soon as I could. Played in both the closed and open betas and loved it. Had all 5 available classes through Act 2 (the limit in the betas).

    Then launch day hit. Loaded up the game, excited to play for real and.... nothing. Could not get past the "Play" button. Checked the tech support forums and found out I was one of thousands of paying customers in the exact same situation. Despite being able to play nearly any other game on the planet on my "underspecced" machine, and having zero issues playing the betas, I was now locked out of playing due to a hardware requirement. Worse is the total lack of communication from Blizzard on this matter. There has been no word in 2 days from anyone. The last post from their community manager essentially blamed everyone with this issue for trying to play with machines that don't meet minimum specs, but that they will try to fix it for us, all while posting celebratory pictures of a "perfect launch" on Twitter. Not impressed, Blizzard.

    Edit to Add: This is day 7 from launch that I have been unable to play.

    Update: The AVX issue was finally fixed, 12 days after launch. I am thoroughly enjoying the nostalgia of replaying this classic without the cringe associated with the original's dated graphics. I have upgraded my review score accordingly.    … Expand

Im hoping Blizzard will continue to support server stability, as well as improve lobby UI.

    My biggest issue is with the lobby and server list. It should have been modernized. I don't find a way to join the same chat lobby as my friends. They still have the short server names with "O this N that R...". Not exactly newcomer friendly. Would love to have a trade channel in the chat easily accessible from a dropdown list.

    It is not possible to remaster D2 without dividing opinions. I think they mostly took the right approach here though.    … Expand

    Diablo II: Resurrected is far from perfect. The changes in character design are likely to rile up returning players, and the archaic gameplay probably won’t agree with younger generations weaned on more streamlined, sophisticated experiences. While I appreciate that this legendary title is now available in an improved format, it’s not a caveat-free recommend.

    Diablo II returns with refreshed graphics and unaltered gameplay (apart from some small improvements). It’s as fun as I remembered, so I quickly felt at home and gave in to nostalgia. However, it’s hard not to notice that beneath revamped visuals lies a 21 years old design. [12/2021, p.32]
