    I work in an office. Whenever I get bored, I sit & play out games of CS in my mind using my co-workers as hostages. Maybe this game isn't a good thing. Meh. Awesome game.

    This game is the best the graphics and physics are beyond good and the only problem is hitboxes are a bit slow in 66 tick servers.

    Great game, love the graphical jump they made from 1.6 However the random headshots from the newbie spray is rather annoying, though it happens. Great game guys!

    I have never ever been so disappointed with a game in all my gaming life. Seriously this game is slow paced and is entirely made for campers, the friggin' en. On top of it luck decides pretty much everything even for pros since there's NO AIM DOWN THE SIGHT EXCEPT FOR SNIPES, SERIOUSLY WTF? If you want a good FPS that's fast paced and relies on skill, go buy call of duty I have never ever been so disappointed with a game in all my gaming life.     It is an amazing game and I love it so much. There are a lot of mods like surf, rpg, death match, zombie mod, gun game, and paint ball/dodge ball.

    Yeha this is the best fps and to the Leiws W. just because u suck and don't know how to respawn doesn't mean that it isn't their on alot of severs u just type in shopmenu press 5 then 3 and ur back at the coust of $4200 on the game so don't cry if u die alot just get a respawn thing and stfu

    Lewis W, looks like you were too lazy to learn te game, only went on one server, wich had many players on it, if the waiting doesn't fit you, you just join a server with less players, It's easy like that. When you fall in love with this game, you wont stop loving it :) Just give it a chance and learn the skills, And you will like it!

    It's a really sweet game, and unlike what Little Lewis said, the enemy spawn points are positioned far enough away that you can move around, get behind cover, take up sniping positions, and so forth. You need to practice to get good, but that's a matter of all games. Since you can't respawn, it makes you value life, and you now try really hard not to die!

    The reason this game so much better than it's counterparts was that it wasnt dumbed down for all the console tards who need an inch diameter cross hair and a sticky aim. Beautifully done.

    Very realistic physics engine, tons of servers to choose from. Graphics are quite good as well, they won't stress your machine.
    Only things to keep in mind before buying this is the fact that the normal gameplay isn't quite newbie friendly, you have to commit a lot of time and skill in order to dominate your opponents.     A poor, poor update to an amaizing game. Known as "CS for n00bs", any real CS player will be disappointed at the core physics changes, such as weapons that are too accurate or inaccurate, over or under powered, and maps that are simply lack the old counter strike feel. Put your big boy pants on and go old school with the pros!

    Graphics are nice. But competitive game play lacks skill and strategic gaming. Counter strike 1.6 is the best online competitive FPS game there is.

    A timeless classic! My first FPS's were Halo, and CS 1.6. After Source came out, i got a new computer and sat down to play. Some of you make the argument that it is 1.6 gameplay with a new engine, and you're right, but 1.6 was an amazing game, and the Source engine only made it more fun and addicting! This is a game i will continue to play for years to come. FPS fan?? BUY THIS GAME!

    How can you not play this! Team strats. Voicecom. fast turn around in rounds when you dead. It's fast paced, first person, up-close and personal combat! Team's live and die playing this. Strats are key and random is crazy fun! A staple for get in, play and get out or long term team competition.

    Counter-Strike: Source has to be one of the best online shooters ever. When you first start out you may be aggrivated or flat pissed off but give it some time to learn because once you do you get the joy to say " hahaha I pwned you noob!" Man I love this game!!! O and Lewis W., the only reason the game sux for you is because u just plain suck.

    A very solid shooter that has provided me endless hours of fun. Its not a game I've raved about then grown out-of, its a quality game that has always remained fun to play. Its easy to get the hang of but takes a lot of skill and practise to master, but doing so is definatly fun.

    I am a realism buff, and as soon as I put the bunny hopping shotgun headshots and such aside this game became really fun. If you have a group of friends who play or join a clan then you get some really good memories made. For the price, this is one of the great bargain games of the modern world. The only thing preventing this from being a 10 is the fact that there are enough hackers to give anyone a headache, but they get banned quickly, and that you can get unlucky enough to discourage any person at times (lucky headshots taken in from a shotgun at 50 yards happened to me before) so just take a break when the game isn't fun.    … Expand

For those like Lewis W, who seem to have only played one server, you will be surprised. If you just want to improve on your reaction time and have a bit of fun, play a Deathmatch server! If you want to proceed your skills in all kinds of weapons, play a gun game server!     Very good 1st person shooter. It is a good game for beginners as well as advanced players because you can practice with computer generated players(for the beginnners). For advanced users, there are other people to play with, and even the computer generated players can go up to expert. I have had this game for 2 weeks, and It is still totally addicting.

    I mean that CS:S is one of the best Multiplayer Games, and its more REAL then CS 1.6 and all another Cs games.
    The weapons look more real too!
    But its one thing who do me little bit angry and that is all the skins you can download and the cheats!

    Its Just the best online shoot em up games i have ever played. The best bit for me about it is not the graphics and stunning maps but the voice. It means you can out of the blue just start a random chat with someone you have never met.

    Love the game and really hope Valve will do another installment

As for hitboxes, which i have read about below, the hitboxes are fine, like most games - the better connection between all the players allows bullet registration to be smoother. 1.6 runs less bandwidth allowing reg to be better than source. Hackers can be a HUGE problem, but Valve gave full server control so you can help yourself aswell as them making bans. Valve has said to ban 20,000,000 accounts per week on this game, so just because you cant see it - they do end up owning the hackers. Hackers get put a on a delay ban so they dont know what hack it was they got banned for. Overall BEST FPS on the market, great HL2 mod and seriously shocked the world that a mod could become so good. Running the best engine (HL2) and with upcoming mods like Insurgency - HL2 is the god of engines. Quake 4 and UT3 players miss out on this skilled game!… Expand

    A pray and spray crapshoot. No real skill involved, and the tournament winners take stimulants to get their reactions going too fast. Also, anybody that can spray a P90 in-game wat head level wins the level, that is all there is to it. Do not waste your time on this game.

    Cant see why this is a 8.8? i'ts still played more then most other games, nothing real wrong with it, its just great, it has neet physics good action and its nicely balanced, imo best shooter around atm, yes also above cs1.6 simply becaus its to old for me.     This game is awesome and once you play it, you won't ever want to go back to the original. It's basically the same game though except with updated graphics and a few extra guns. They could have actually added more stuff to the game though such as more characters rather than just the same 4 considering the amount of people that can be in the same game.     A great game! I'm not the greatest fan of online multiplayer games but Counterstrike is certainly making me one. My friend bought me it for christmas and every chance I get I'm on it.

    This is one of Valves best Games out there, I personaly havnt played CS: 1.7 or CZ (Condition Zero), but I have seen what it looks like, and man am I glad to be on the uptodate one.

    This was my first Valve game, and my first multi-player first person shooter. I purchased this not too long ago, maybe 2-3 months, and I've been playing not stop since then. There are a variety of maps, guns, and things to do in this game, it never gets boring. Though the pace is much slower than a lot of the other Valve multiplayer games, the pace works great for the game. Instead This was my first Valve game, and my first multi-player first person shooter. I purchased this not too long ago, maybe 2-3 months, and I've been playing not stop since then. There are a variety of maps, guns, and things to do in this game, it never gets boring. Though the pace is much slower than a lot of the other Valve multiplayer games, the pace works great for the game. Instead of running around like a with-drawing crackhead, spraying bullets everywhere, this game requires you to use tactics AND ACTUALLY AIM! You die pretty quickly on here, considering that it isn't extremely hard to get a headshot once you've gotten control of your gun's recoil and aiming. It's a solid game, and I highly recommend this game to any first person shooter fan. Hell, I wasn't really into first person shooters before I bought this, now I'm diving deep into these kinds of games. So, this would be a great introduction to the genre.… Expand

    This is definitley the best online FPS out there so far, the graphics are great, not the best but they are very good. The gameplay is awesome, and probably the most well-balanced FPS I've ever played. Sound is pretty good, about what you'd expect for this kind of FPS. The physics are extremely realistic, and if an admin doesn't like that they can easily make the physics like on a cartoon (You shoot a barrel and it flys till it hits a wall, lol.). You may say "BUT ZOMBERS ONLY HAS LOW HEALTH?". You are wrong; they have 2500 health (5000 for the starting one). There are still more modes, like DeathMatch and GunGame. The only problem I had with this game were the people with the ego the size of Betelguise (Really big star, for all of you who failed science ;D). They're the ones who usually ruin gameplay for me or other people.

    One of the best online games. Easily the best online FPS. Amazing staying power, graphics and gameplay. This game will have you coming back for more and more and will probably give you alot of sleepless nights.

    Extremely well-made game; almost revolutionary for 2004. Highly addictive and still relevant almost four years later, this game tops the list of any FPS on the market today. If you're a fan of this genre, you can't miss out on this gaming experience. Would've been a 10 if it had a single-player mode.

    This game is great! You can do anything...climbing, killing, ASSASSINATING. You can even save citizens or jump off a view point in a "leap of faith" This game is my number 1 game of the year.

    When i bought this game 2 years ago, i was impressed; valve really succeeded in porting cs to famous source-engine. + HDR was the final addition, that got me. Overall, good game, but has nice amount of people playing, who can only play with cheat(s) in order to grow their virtual dick(s). I`ll recommend this game for all those, who like FPS-games.

A normal .20cal has a small kickback that totally screwed with my aim when I was first learning (irl). A .30 or .50 would easily have way more kickback. So, if you aim at someone's chest, a small amount of kickback may cause you to blow their face off. Also, there's a randomization Very well-made game. Also, there's a randomization factor that is, really, a little unrealistic (a trained SEAL isn't going to have a .8" deviation when shooting a target 10 feet away). You can't really complain about the "crappy physics" in Source, because they are realistic. Bodies WILL fly 10 or more feet if they get hit by a grenade. The shotgun could be a little more balanced, though (it's easy to get headshots with it because the way Source handles it is by sending a spray of about 5 quarter-powered bullets... get lucky and hit the head and you've got a winner. I strongly dissagree about the lack of tactics in Source as opposed to 1.6. Of course you will get shot if you're the first one to rush!! That's how it works irl!! The point of videogames is to create an alternate world for amusement. Since it's trying to be realistic, it is realistic. You can't really count on 100% (Magnum Super Rife or a lack of penalties from getting SHOT) because it's just a game. A game for $20, no less. People complaining about lag should just shut up and get a better computer and/or ISP. Trust me, rebuilding my computer from scratch did wonders. Bi***ing about having to download something "every time you try to play" is just flat wrong. Connect to a server that has the map "de_*" or "cs_*". They come with the game. No DL for you. Well, that's not altogether true, there are some maps named that that you still have to download, but quit whining and get it over with. A massive Surf map (fy_surfpro_hi) took about 2 minutes. And I'm on a 11 kb/s wireless card. Get over it and stop whining like a bi***.… Expand

    A highly entertaining game, with a good community (provided you find the right servers). It has good gameplay, despite having a bit of a learning curve for new players. Having never played 1.6, I cannot compare the two, but I know Counter-Strike: Source is a great game in it's own right. I would highly recommend this game.     A totally perfect improvement for the best online game ever. The Source engine delivers in ways people may or may not notice, including bullet drop (which is why I don't snipe). An 11 out of 10 would have been more appropriate.

    Don't listen to the people who gave it 0s and 3s. This game has alot more amazing things than cs 1.6 or any other cs game. Levels are ALOT more detailed than the other version and less boxier. You can tell Valve spent a great deal on this. Hackers and cheaters/botters are rarely on because of admins and hosts.     i giver it 9 because the graphics r good but and the guns r good but the health is weird yes in real life one shot to head ur dead im glad they inclueded that but if u get shot in the leg u would fall or shot to the stomoch,they should of made if u get shot in the stomach u lose helath bit by bit as in ur losing blood but overall great online game.

I believe Counter Strike: Source for this reason represents the basics of the fps genre without to many 'fancy' bits. For those veteran gamers Counter Strike: Source offers the equal, if not, a greater gaming experience. Counter Strike 1.6 has for a long time been a very competitive centered game, with tournaments and ladders and recently CSS has managed to begin to equal the 1.6 leagues. Wars and scrims in counter strike source could not be more intense and exciting. Overall give this game a 10/10, truly one of the greatest games for online multiplayer… Expand

It feel as if the old game has been raped. Why? There's nothing that's been improved from the smooth-running, skill-desiring 1.6 unless you like the new graphics (which I personally findHm I enjoyed 1.6 quite a lot before eventually deciding to also purchase source so as play with a good friend of mine.     This game is AWESOME! The new physics and textures are great! Models are perfect! There's nothing bad on it! Gameplay has been improved! CS1.6 is excellent, but CS: Source is even better! I love Source engine, and now CS was ported, making it a perfect combination of a traditional FPS game and a revolutionary engine.

    Valve has done a sterling job of moving a flagship franchise over to a new engine. Whilst the gameplay guts come over correct and intact, (which may disappoint some), Counter-Strike: Source is an even more engrossing and captivating experience, capable of sapping hours of your time, and even the worst "1337 g33zers" abusing voice chat can't spoil the fun you'll have with it.

    Counter-Strike: Source is, once you've gained a knack for it, the most consistently rewarding and surprising team-based shoot-'em-up available on the PC today. It's been dressed up nicely for its relaunch in 2004, but it wasn't broken, and Valve hasn't fixed it.
