    The best online first person shooting game I've ever played. The graphics, the physics, the players, the game-play all work flawlessly to make this game the world's most popular game. Keep up the good work VALve.

    An attempt to build off the success of Counter-Strike with the graphics the Source engine provides. A horrible failure in terms of gameplay and overall playability.

    Horrible remake of Counter-Strike 1.6. Models are too big, grenades are weird, gameplay is just terrible. If you actively play this game, purchase Counter-Strike 1.6 and actually ENJOY gaming.

    This game was made so that people who played the old game could switch over and we all bought it with expectations of it being good but the makers didnt really care about the player and they ended up producing a game that was not ready to be released.

    Game was horribly designed for competition and public play. Everything that was supposed to be as real as it gets, got more phony... The original counter-strike... is 10x better. Thats what happens when you try to capitalize on a game that isnt possible to make any better... steam ruined it... lol.

    CS:S Detracts from the overall value of cs 1.6 because it allured all the professional gamers with stories of money and glory due to the increase in gfx etc. Promising more coverage on source.. most 1.6 leagues died and what is source now? Nothing. Source is still underplayed, and cs 1.6 is still superior in player-base and skill.

Any area where someone is watching an entrance the player 'peeking' into the entrance has a huge advantage because they will see the person watching before the player watching sees them, most of the time the 'peeking' player will already have time to stop and be ready to shoot before the watching person sees them. The models were made larger and the maps were filled with extra junk laying around, like barrels which are randomly placed everywhere along with many other little objects. This makes the game feels really cluttered and makes it easier to 'frag', half the time you can enter an area and have no need to aim because the models fill up the space. The 'updated' flashbangs are random in that you cant dodge them consistently which takes a lot from the game. Smoke grenades are explotable because in certain areas you can see shadows through them but not from the other side which is another flaw. Not to mention that the slow blooming of the smoke makes the game easier for the players watching the smoked area. The model movement speed especially walk speed is slowed down, which also makes the game easier. A combination of the larger models and tightly cramped map areas allows for a lot of random lucky bullets to headshot people when a player is running around spraying. Overall css is just a dumbed down, 'pretty', version of cs. I would recommend sticking with cs1.6 which is so much more of a polished and challenging game.… Expand

    I'm not personally that keen on CS:S but I can see why it is so beloved. It has great flexibility with player made maps and models, unfortunately it gets horrifically annoying when you get blown away at the start of a mission and have to wait 5 mins until you respawn. Thankfully there are deathmatch maps with instant respawn.

    i bought this game like 2 days ago. And i already fell in love with it. I had no trouble playing. just make sure your connection is fast...nothing under 150Kbps. the only con i have on this game is most players aren't what you would call "nice".
    It was worth my $20 US dollars coming with Day of Defeat and Half Life Death match.

    No its a great GAME! Jacob S, is wrong. i recommend this game more than any other. Its lot of fun and u dont get easyly bored of it! . telling ya , been playing css for 3-4 years. And I still play . There are so many great servers with different mods and so on like zombie mod. Thats history lol , . 10 stars .

    CS: Source is easily in the top three games I've ever played. It has no single-player mode which means that you don't get bored after you beat it. There are so many maps and so many mods that it'll amuse you for months or even years! It's a great game: Get It!!!

    This game is absolutely fantastic, the graphics are still amazing (some 4 and a half years after release), it has great re-play value (due to the fact that anyone can make a map for people to play, resulting in thousands of custom maps circling the thousands of servers) and is quite realistic in many ways. Overall a great game!

    Its crappy. The graphics suck even with a nvida 9800gt. The game lags with the great internet of Comcast. Cant find servers, says something about a master connection? wth? lmfao dont buy it im telling u now.

    The game is fun. But the service is horrible. It cracked down my computer. Servers wont pop up half the time. I cant save any in a favorites. Its not worth buying. You have a better chance playing a flash game of Counter strike. Because atleast you will know you will play.     Sort of a good game, but as all of the games I've played before made by Steam - Bit a Bit. Let's take a look at the ANTI-Cheater - as one guy said, it is good, but not so much. I tried to cheat (for experiment) and I've been banned after the 120+ time I cheated. Other say, graphics are cool - adding a bit would make it cool. 7 For the game.

Though I prefer the z-bots of 1.6, because they act more human, not knowing everytime where the human players are and aiming directly on the other player (a human never can do this that For me, it's no question to rate Counter-Strike: Source 10.0!     I want to rate it 500/10, but since there isn't a 500/10, 10/10 will match it. I rated it 10/10 because I started playing CS1.0 from very begining(age 12) and now I am in CSS, Good graphics, the body moves when ur dead(ragdoll?) CAL matches are easy(for me..) Ze and Zm are kinda good 6/10 becuz of selfishness and always running to illegal spots.     I love counterstrike source! It's even better than counter strike or condition zero! I feal like I am in the middle of the action with the stunning graphics and the amazing affects when you shoot computers and boxes! I even like the idea of getting to talk with your headsets when playing online!! Thanks

    I would have to say the best FPS ever. Valve has their shit down w/ games and this one is no different. I the only game I even think of going to other than this is TF2 which is also a Valve game. No one has anything on Valve in terms of a modding base, playablitly and staying power. hell people are still playing CS 1.6 which the mod for HL originally came out in 1994

    people really need to stop comparing this game to others like rainbow six vegas and cod4. this game was made in 2004 so stop complaining about the graphics this game is fun and has so many mods its hard to stop playing it hte controls are good and theres a load of servers to play on

    the graphic is very good. the physics are very good...
    the gameplay is easy to learn and for Noobs its very funny... the game is soo perfect but the players aren't everytime so nice... flamers are the biggest problem but at the end its the best Game i ever played :D:D

    Its the best Multiplayergame and everyone play this on LANParty´s, its one of the best games from VALVE and it make always fun to play this, If you like Zombie, you can play it. If You are not so good in Counter Strike you can play Deathmatch.

    This game has bad graphic,and the gameplay offer nothing new and the only good thing about this game is that there is no problem finding server and it is so many noobs so it is fun watching. I want to give this game a 0 but, i cant stop laugh when the noobish players running around and team-killing so i give it a 1.

    I freaking love this game, I played 1.6 alot, and then when source was released, I jumped on it. However 1.6 may be better, this game recreates it in a fashionable way, and does it excellently. Although the hitboxes can be a huge nuisance, and the difficulty curve is extreme, this game is a blast. A huge community, and tons and tons of custom content, you will be playing this game for I freaking love this game, I played 1.6 alot, and then when source was released, I jumped on it. Valve, you made one hell of an FPS. Give yourselves a pat on the back. I got this game free, but i sure wouldnt mind paying a meagre £10 or so for such and addictive, enthralling and rewarding game.     One of the best online First Person Shooters I have ever played (second to Left 4 Dead). As many have mentioned, it's certainly not a "n00b" friendly game. You really need a headset to pinpoint where your enemies are, know the maps well and what sounds every surface makes so you get the edge in battle. Buying just an M4 or AK-47 isn't enough, sometimes it takes an extra DesertOne of the best online First Person Shooters I have ever played (second to Left 4 Dead).     After thrashing the hell out of games like UT3, COD 4 and the like - I find myself installing this and enjoying it all over again. It's just so much fun and the fan base is amazing. Get on a decent server with decent active admin and your rocking :)

Its normal cal settings are alot of fun but if you some how get bored of it then all you have 2 do is hit a random key in the filter spot and see what kind of funky mod you just descovered.     don't really know why i checked this out on metacritic. i've been playing since beta (which is mainly why i hate dust1 these days) and been playing CS since 1.5. the game offers unlimited playability. i notice a lot of "COD4 is 1337". here' s news flash, the game mode in COD everyone seems to like so much is a direct clone of one of CS's game modes... defusal.

    This is my favourite game, I never look one game superior. Este es mi juego favorito no e visto nunca un juego mejor. Al principio no me gustaba, pero en 2 semanas le coji el tranquillo y aqui sigo casi 3 años jugando al CSS y no me he cansado lo mas minimo. Un saludo a todos los Counteros.

    This game worth all the money I investigated in... need to fix hitboxes but the major point in this game is that the shooting is completly different from other fps where you can spray and all the bullets go at the same place... So it deserve a 10... and I pla since 1.6 and always detested other fps... like COD UT QUAKE....

    This game is to be loved and adored for all ages, friendly community and very fun mods keep a 4 year old game nice, fresh, and still amazingly fun. And you know a game is fun when even though you arent very good at it, you keep playing. Awaiting the next Counter-Srike!

    This isn't Counter-Strike, this is a totaly other game! The Graphic, the Sound an de Gameplay has changed from 1.6 to Source. I love this game and will play it untill the next CS!.

    There are much better multiplayer shooters out there. Guns don't feel right like they do in other games like the brill rainbow six vegas. It just was no fun and you can tell it originated from a half life mod. This is just my opinion and i have heard many who have enjoyed this game. There are good points to the game but there are not many, buy team fortress 2 instead.

    It isn't much of a change since 1.6, but the gameplay is kind the same so it keeps its magic. Basically It's the same game, it was good on those times and it still is fun to play.

    Sure, you'll find out a hacker or two, or even some spammers or annoying people, but let's face it, we have to mess with this on every game.

    Allthough it's nothing bad, the pace is a bit too slow. CS 1.6 was fun, fast and encouraged normal gameplay. CSS however, punishes rushing and fast play. With everyone camping till the last minute, and than suddenly killing each other with 5 shots (if you shoot more your aim is gone), the fun was gone for me.

    Completely awesome game. it is more accurate and visually better than 1.6 it can only get better. CSO should be a nice addition to the market.

    Awesome game, a lot of fun and easy to play... requires a great balance of skill, awareness and general reactions as well as incorporating massive amounts of enjoyment into the game itself.

It also builds your skill set a lot quicker.     Its a best shooter game ever i have played in my life.And this version is good and not like CS 1.6... its ugly but i still have CS 1.6 in my computer.

    This game keeps getting better and better, with one of the largest communities, there are tens of thousands of servers, thousands of maps, custom skins, sounds, models and so much more. With constant updates from steam (which, I must say, has gotten much better) any glitches are quickly, and efficiently removed. And the gameplay is unequaled.     An incredible game for those who like hybrid first person/squad based games. Highly recommended for those who want to practice SWAT tactics, paintball, and the like. Headsets are definitely worth the cost; it greatly enhances gameplay.

    Good, but not near Counter-Strike 1.6's competitive edge. If you want an easy, casual gaming experience with the cool headshot here and there then Source is the way to go. With overly detailed maps and odd player model hitboxes, Counter-Strike: Source will often leave the player saying, "WTF?"

    BEST FPS GAME EVER!! better than cod4 with mods, maps, and more! And you could have fun with people on the mic and chat with them(when they dont spam hehe..) SO BUY CSS AND HAVE FUN(if u got css already HAVE FUN).

    Its the best ego shooter cause it contains really only the simplest ego shooter instructions and not maybe an inventor or so, just ego shooter for everyone playable.

    This game is pretty awesome.... but, it gets repetitive, and they still haven't removed the AWP from the category. (IMO) for this particular game, the AWP is way too over-powered for the way this game is built in statistics.

Its the only game I play literally, no online games, no PS3 or XBox, (I do play Wii once in a while though) but this game has blown my mind. Once you get use to it, it only gets better and I'm still not bored! There are endless amounts of servers and different types, so CS:S is my favorite games of all times.     Valve has done a sterling job of moving a flagship franchise over to a new engine. Whilst the gameplay guts come over correct and intact, (which may disappoint some), Counter-Strike: Source is an even more engrossing and captivating experience, capable of sapping hours of your time, and even the worst "1337 g33zers" abusing voice chat can't spoil the fun you'll have with it.

    Counter-Strike: Source is, once you've gained a knack for it, the most consistently rewarding and surprising team-based shoot-'em-up available on the PC today. It's been dressed up nicely for its relaunch in 2004, but it wasn't broken, and Valve hasn't fixed it.
