    Owners of the 2011 edition won't find much new here, but newcomers can consider this an alternative to Sim City, and overall a fun city builder, much more stable than its predecessor when it comes to bugs and technical issues.

    Despite its technical flaws, Cities XXL is a real extra-large city builder, fun and enjoyable, with a solid foundation built on the pillars of the genre, and notable additions to the building and managing elements of the gameplay.

    The enormous cities that one can build with a variety of customization options are satisfying, no doubt about it. But the dated graphics, the imprecise controls and lack of features compared to its predecessors as well as too many menus and annoying music make Cities XXL an insufficient experience nonetheless.

    It's the same game as Cities XL with very small differences. Selling it at almost full price is nothing but a rip-off.

    An expansion pack with a very convenient new name, with some new content that does not justify the price tag. The game is the same the fans already played and it didn't age that well.

    Cities XXL is itself a solid strategy. The city, that you can build, is really XXL. Bugs are annoying, but you can live with it. Worse is, that the game is the same as its predecessor. Without exaggeration. Almost exactly the same.

    Cities XXL is not a bad simulation, game but it is a completely unnecessary one. It may be interesting for those who didn't have the chance to play its earlier versions... Although you can also buy the game released almost three years ago and do the same thing but cheaper. The differences are not so many.

    Cities XXL represents a serviceable starting point for beginners certainly, but is simply far too riddled with bugs, performance issues and recycled content to recommend to anyone else who has sampled the series previously.

At least before the games would be named Cities XL - something so you couldn't really expect a completely new game but now the name is completely different, and the game has nothing to do with the trailers published it is perhaps minimally enhanced variant of the previous game. Such enhancements should be done via a FREE PATCH or perhaps DLC and NOT by releasing THE SAME GAME under a DIFFERENT NAME! OBNOXIOUS!… Full Review »

First, you can place individual ordinary buildings rather than zoning and waiting to see what pops up, which I don't remember before. Plus it does run smoother than the previous version. But can anybody justify spending £15 on something that most other games release as a free update? No, absolutely not. Roundabouts and highways still don't work, bridges are still impossible to work with, things like rivers are still ridiculously out of scale (i.e. needing the Golden Gate Bridge to cross what should be a small river).
