    If you didn’t play any of the XL-games yet, this is the most complete and polished version out there. But then again it is not much more than an overpriced content patch, so you might as well be happy with the older and cheaper predecessors.

    Cities XXL feels more like a sidegrade than a true upgrade, as it offers little more than a performance patch for its $40 price tag.

    Cities XXL is Cities XL Platinum with some UI improvements. Cities XL Platinum was Cities XL with some UI improvements. Don't waste your money.

    All things considered, XXL is without question the best version of the game to date but it should have been offered to existing owners as a patch and never have come to Steam at 40 bucks a pop. It’s high time that Focus Home puts this game to rest so that it can start fresh.

    The management aspects are shallow, and made entirely redundant by how easy it is to reach Scrooge McDuck levels of wealth. And there’s a serious dearth of good reasons for veteran Cities players to return. They’ve seen it all before.

    More of the same. Almost exactly the same, in fact. Cities XXL is only worth looking at if you have never played the previous XL titles. And even than, wait for a sale.

    Cities XXL is almost identical to its predecessors, but despite the slight technical improvement, other parts remain the same or even worse. Hands off. [Issue#251]

    This is crap, this is NOT a NEW game and should NOT be sold as a stand-alone separate game from the others, this is stupid! At least before the games would be named Cities XL - something so you couldn't really expect a completely new game but now the name is completely different, and the game has nothing to do with the trailers published it is perhaps minimally enhanced variant of the previous game. Such enhancements should be done via a FREE PATCH or perhaps DLC and NOT by releasing THE SAME GAME under a DIFFERENT NAME! OBNOXIOUS!… Full Review »

First, you can place individual ordinary buildings rather than zoning and waiting to see what pops up, which I don't remember before. Plus it does run smoother than the previous version. But can anybody justify spending £15 on something that most other games release as a free update? No, absolutely not. Roundabouts and highways still don't work, bridges are still impossible to work with, things like rivers are still ridiculously out of scale (i.e. needing the Golden Gate Bridge to cross what should be a small river).
