A rare but original adventure tha combines exploration, capture, conversations and a disturbing sense of humor. Try it if you want something different.

Bugsnax could have been a silly and divisive game from Octodad's creators. But in the end, underneath its weirdness, it is a tasty experience of hunting, collecting and puzzles with some great writing ans characters, that can entertain everyone for a few hours.

Bugsnax will leave a lot of players behind because of its sometimes lacking in precision hunting mechanics, or even by its assumed childish side and its strange artistic direction. However, despite these details, the title also holds a number of positive qualities.

In lieu of what many community theories predicted is a cute and casual adventuring experience with an adorkable cast of Grumpuses and Bugsnax. But all that being said, Bugsnax isn't without its tricks.

Bugsnax is an enjoyable, charming game. We would have loved to have more freedom to discover the story of these creatures, but overall we’ve had a good time catching them all.

Bugsnax is a feel-good adventure with a lovable cast, a rich variety of tasty prey to hunt, but thoroughly unremarkable gameplay.

Inspired by Pixar, Bugsnax offers us a gameplay that is both strange and surprising and that could well touch any generation of players. Made for the general public, the game developed by the studio behind Octodad is colorful in many ways. Between quirky humor and creatures to collect (and to eat), Bugsnax remains above all an adventure game with narration and quests to follow. It will not be enough to just put your brain down but also to think about the different "puzzles" that will be offered to you to capture the bugs half food half insect. That said, even though Bugsnax offers a real mix of quests, adventure and collection, it could be quite confusing and not everyone will like it. One thing's for sure: the game is original.

Helping the Grumpuses reconnect with each other and overcome their character flaws is a worthwhile experience. I may not have loved catching bugs, but I came away smitten by Beffica Winklesnoot, Chandlo Funkbun, and the rest of the Snaktooth Island Grumpuses.

Bugsnax is an enjoyably dark mystery that deftly handles mental health issues with a superbly voice acted cast of entertaining characters, despite its shortcomings as an adventure game. The Bugsnax themselves may not be as interesting as the Grumpuses, but the mystery surrounding them remains compelling, leaving room for a sequel that I’d want to play. Much like its creepy-crawly comestibles, Bugsnax is short, sweet, strange, and worth experiencing for anyone tickled by the idea of a flying jam sandwich.
