Sep 6, 2022Fairly fun, but it feels incomplete. All of the character arcs feel like they end sort of abruptly. I liked the voice acting, but I didn't like the writing much. Octodad is much better in almost every way IMO. The gameplay was more fun. The story, though sparse, was more fun in Octodad too. I'm not totally sure who the intended audience is.

Jun 22, 2022The game is pretty mediocre. During the game, it literally drives into despair.

Jul 15, 2022You shouldn’t play with your food, but it’s necessary when dealing with the creatures of Snaktooth Island. While the creative design and catchy music are tasty side dishes, Bugsnax‘s main course of monster-catching gets a tad stale before the end.

Edge MagazineDec 3, 2020And underlying it all, the one thing that didn't take us by surprise: the old catch-'em-all urge, as moreish as ever. Whether it's tickling your head or your heart, Bugsnax ensures they're never empty calories. [Issue#353, p.116]
