Nov 12, 2020Bugsnax is special. Young Horses have a unique, interesting and charming concept that’s been executed perfectly. There are a few nitpicks here and there but if you have any interest in Bugsnax you’ll find a game unlike any other and one I can’t stop saying good things about.
-
Nov 19, 2020Bugsnax is a truly weird game that is worth trying just for the concept. As the theme song goes “Everyone’s talkin' bout Bugsnax.” Well not everyone, but maybe they should be.
-
Edge MagazineDec 3, 2020And underlying it all, the one thing that didn't take us by surprise: the old catch-'em-all urge, as moreish as ever. Whether it's tickling your head or your heart, Bugsnax ensures they're never empty calories. [Issue#353, p.116]

Nov 19, 2020It’s pretty criminal how much I haven’t been able to discuss in this review; Bugsnax is an absolute treat of a game that should please anyone who fondly remembers Ape Escape, Pokemon Snap, or Viva Pinata. I haven’t been this glued to a game for a long time, feeling that sustained, high level of enjoyment from start to finish. So chart a course for Snaktooth Island today and discover its Bugsnax — you won’t be disappointed.
-
Nov 9, 2020Like its titular creatures, the food-finding game Bugsnax combines a mishmash of weird parts into an endearing, adorable, and eccentric new creation.
-
Nov 9, 2020Bugsnax is a fascinating game that delights and perplex you at every given chance. It is, in this frankly astonishingly bad year, a breath of fresh air and whimsy that should help you feel a bit normal. Only in its utter absurdity have I manage to find the escapism and joy I need at the moment, and the mix of entertaining writing, brilliant premise, and wonderful gameplay are enough to keep everyone feasting for a long time to come. Everyone’s talking about Bugsnax, and it’s only right that that’s the case.
-
Jul 15, 2022You shouldn’t play with your food, but it’s necessary when dealing with the creatures of Snaktooth Island. While the creative design and catchy music are tasty side dishes, Bugsnax‘s main course of monster-catching gets a tad stale before the end.
-
Nov 27, 2020A rare but original adventure tha combines exploration, capture, conversations and a disturbing sense of humor. Try it if you want something different.
-
Nov 16, 2020Bugsnax could have been a silly and divisive game from Octodad's creators. But in the end, underneath its weirdness, it is a tasty experience of hunting, collecting and puzzles with some great writing ans characters, that can entertain everyone for a few hours.
-
Nov 15, 2020Bugsnax will leave a lot of players behind because of its sometimes lacking in precision hunting mechanics, or even by its assumed childish side and its strange artistic direction. However, despite these details, the title also holds a number of positive qualities.
-
Nov 9, 2020In lieu of what many community theories predicted is a cute and casual adventuring experience with an adorkable cast of Grumpuses and Bugsnax. But all that being said, Bugsnax isn't without its tricks.
-
Nov 9, 2020Bugsnax is an enjoyable, charming game. We would have loved to have more freedom to discover the story of these creatures, but overall we’ve had a good time catching them all.
-
Nov 9, 2020Bugsnax is a feel-good adventure with a lovable cast, a rich variety of tasty prey to hunt, but thoroughly unremarkable gameplay.
-
Nov 9, 2020Inspired by Pixar, Bugsnax offers us a gameplay that is both strange and surprising and that could well touch any generation of players. Made for the general public, the game developed by the studio behind Octodad is colorful in many ways. Between quirky humor and creatures to collect (and to eat), Bugsnax remains above all an adventure game with narration and quests to follow. It will not be enough to just put your brain down but also to think about the different "puzzles" that will be offered to you to capture the bugs half food half insect. That said, even though Bugsnax offers a real mix of quests, adventure and collection, it could be quite confusing and not everyone will like it. One thing's for sure: the game is original.
-
Nov 9, 2020Helping the Grumpuses reconnect with each other and overcome their character flaws is a worthwhile experience. I may not have loved catching bugs, but I came away smitten by Beffica Winklesnoot, Chandlo Funkbun, and the rest of the Snaktooth Island Grumpuses.
-
Nov 9, 2020Bugsnax is an enjoyably dark mystery that deftly handles mental health issues with a superbly voice acted cast of entertaining characters, despite its shortcomings as an adventure game. The Bugsnax themselves may not be as interesting as the Grumpuses, but the mystery surrounding them remains compelling, leaving room for a sequel that I’d want to play. Much like its creepy-crawly comestibles, Bugsnax is short, sweet, strange, and worth experiencing for anyone tickled by the idea of a flying jam sandwich.
-
Nov 9, 2020It's got well-observed characters and some genuinely weird moments, but the actual bug hunting isn't much fun.

Nov 9, 2020Bugsnax is colourful, clever, and surprising - and you deserve to discover the deepest aspects of it for yourself. [Eurogamer Recommended]
-
Nov 9, 2020Ultimately, it’s that modern-day Mr. Rogers moralism that saves Bugsnax in the end. I’d happily recommend it to any family, and to any parent looking for a few hours to themselves — either in front of the screen for a bit of casual gameplay, or in the next room while the kids enjoy it all on their own.
-
Nov 9, 2020For the five or six hours it takes to reach the game’s ending, Bugsnax is a delightful and intriguing world to inhabit, just one whose robotic wildlife won’t inspire you to jump back in and finish off your collection. Bugsnax is a faintly naughty, but never crass adventure that feels simultaneously like a love letter to, and a sharply observed satire of, the games that inspired it.
