Because of fear of them or the desire to earn money on them, it does not matter, this is rude and mean to the players and deserves a low rating as an answer).
Overall this game is a normal "Hollywood action" with fantasy mindless plot, and nothing more.

What disappointed me the most were the guns in the game. There are very few of them to begin with (one of my favorite bf game was bf4 that had almost 80 guns at launch, this game had like 30), and missing some of the most iconic WWII weapons. There's also very little customization---not for the benefit of realism, because in the game you can slap a nydar shotgun sight on almost every rifle or smg, like that was a normal thing back in the day. How about porting the barrel, tuning the recoil spring and bolt for faster or slower cyclic rate, trading rpm for recoil etc. People have been chopping barrels and stocks, attaching diy wooden foregrips, extended magazines or making semiauto handguns fully automatic since the great depression days, just look at John Dillenger's full auto 1911 in 38 super, it was criminally awesome. but none of these cool stuff was in a game that should have them for the sake of gameplay while maintaining realism. Instead they were just too busy putting micro transaction and cosmetics in the game like that could count towards having content. Expand

I just can not imagine how could they launch the game like this. It is starting to look better, but I would certainly wait for a few months because currently, it is a scam. The game does not worth more than $10-$20.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. So I just played through BFV operation Nordlys, and it is a steaming pile of **** Firstly I fell down what looked like 50-75 meters and landed on solid ice, but that's okay because I'm wearing skis, which means that I can't take damage from falling. Then i try to stealthily complete the mission which went well until the game decided that this was not a stealth mission by announcing my presence through a cut scene.
Then the game tells me to follow my mother which it forces me to do since i cant run, crouch or anything else to make it more immersive.
I also have to destroy some power transformers or whatever, and these come with a self destruct lever, how user friendly. No TNT, no grenades nothing, just a lever.
Then I get casually thrown of a bridge and it bruises my chin a little bit, what is this pile of garbage.

The hypothermia system is also garbage. The devs have not put in the effort to make her clothes look wet after falling in the river, what is this?

I do like the game but this mission has completely destroyed all immersion I might hope to have.

This is not a good mission

I am not comparing the game to BF3 or BF4. The game does not have proper WW2 setting, on top of that, it does not smell like a DIce game at all. The main menu is user-friendly but IMO, too plain. The new FIrestrom mode is a good addition to the game but it doesn't fix the game and its fundamental problems. The game is worth playing if you pay 10-20$ for it. Expand

Weapons like the MG42 did actual damage and was accurate (like its supposed to) while you were using a bipod.

Now, a few upadates later, the game is completely ruined. Guns feel like peashooters. The damage is horrible and make the game unplayable for me. You can get killed while using an bipod on a LMG by a greasegun or sten from long distance while shooting your entire ammo at them. It makes no sense at all. Not only LMG's have this problem, Nearly every weapon that should do a fair amount of damage (like the STG for example) are wortheless.

Until this is fixed and you don't need an entire magazine to kill someone, stay away from this game.

I've been actually playing this game for some time now (12h) so I guess im way beyond "you have to feel the game" stage. I gotta say, it's one of the worst Battlefields released so far.

Don't get me wrong, some of the improvements are cool (I liked fortifications, visual effects, graphics, sounds) but anything else is just garbage. The big maps feel too big, with to little vehicles.

Come the release of Operation Underground and the first two Pacific maps and Fliegel AA rocket, I thought...finally they're starting to nail Map design, game flow, player visibility and improve balance between vehicles/infantry(which is what the majority of players play as most of the game). So, I though finally they know what they're doing and heading to a good direction. How wrong I was.....barely a moth later they hit the game with a complete core mechanics re-design and destroying the only thing that they used even during their launch, when they paid the 'Game Changers' to constantly hammer the talking point of ''ignore the game's flaws and PR because the gun-play is the best ever!'. So now over a year later, the game is back to effectively Alpha stage where they're reworking and then spend another year at least creating a new balance. The bulk of players playing infantry are just cheap target practice for vehicles, which in most servers seem to have a ''gentlemen's agreement'' to ignore each other and just farm infantry with incendiary bombs and other BS. Topping that off, unless you're a hardcore vehicle player to grind their upgrades, you have no chance using one. Of course what's worse is that the game balance is really geared towards vehicles being the real counter to other vehicles. Now apart from BF1 I never truly enjoyed using vehicles in any of the titles, however in BF3/4/1 I absolutely loved cracking them open like tin cans and was one of the most satisfying things in game. In BF5 it's just annoying and frustrating with AT weapons feeling like complete jokes, from the slow mo preparations to fire them, reload, aim down sight(actually not down sight, just a slight zoom in while the weapon obstructs visibility), to the sounds and trajectory...and my god the piss poor effect on vehicles. Point is really, Dice are still messing about with this half finished buggy title like it's in pre-alpha stage where they're trying to work out basic game balance and core mechanics that will decide what the experience will feel like as a whole. In conclusion, don't bother with it unless you want to play through an ever changing, inconsistent buggy game by a studio that clearly has no real vision for this title and runs around like headless chickens changing stuff on a dime in the hopes of a miracle golden egg landing on their lap. And no matter what they boast all the time, they have no interest in player opinions and simply throw in changes in the hope it will be the answer to more sales completely disregarding those who already spend money on it. I mean...who the hell ruins their main selling point and only generally accepted good feature of their title? It's a really badly run studio like Bioware so you can't ever realistically expect it to do this well. As a whole it's not the studio it used to be with a collection of some clearly incompetent leaders at the helm. If you still have hope, then it's just a delusional wishful thinking not based on the reality they've shown Expand

The game is mired in" tolerance " according to the developers - it is better to make the feminists were happy than to show the realities of the war, it is better to draw a fictional flag which is more like the flag of the second Reich, because showing the Nazi swastika is not good it allegedly offends people.
This war is part of our history. Why should we hide the flag of the Third Reich, why makeup surgeries where a woman is made strong? for that matter, on the part of the Soviet Union were really women heroes, Aliya Moldagulova, Aronova Raisa and many others not only from the Soviet Union. why make up a story about a 20-year-old girl who was able to destroy the plant alone, in Operation Gunnerside. despite the fact that there were no women at all.
The developers say that this is their vision of those events, but how can you distort historical events of this scale under the guise of "point of view". I won't argue that the graphics of the game looks awesome, the lighting, the sound, the mechanics of the weapons and equipment.
the result-a game with a spoiled story about WW2, good visual and technical part of the gameplay (needs revision). Battlefield has never been a single player game (for lack of a good single player campaign) it's a multiplayer game but even so all too bad

13/12/18 Updating review to note that the game is now effectively ruined. Overnight, Dice made significant changes to the gunplay in order to appeal to the quote "Non-vocal Casuals", which makes the game virtually unplayable for me. SMGs feel like pea-shooters, every one I encounter feels like a bullet sponge. If I wanted fortnite, Id go play fortnite.

Ignoring all the past controversy, is this game fun? Answer: no. The game balance is terrible, as only two of the classes are worth playing. The content is poor, with large amounts just recycled from BF1, eg the guns. The gameplay just feels empty and lifeless somehow - there's no sense of a battle to the fights. The only thing stopping me giving it a 0 is that the graphics are pretty good, even though performance is still bad even with top of the end kit. If you do decide to buy on PC, try to ask others with a similar spec if they can actually run it properly. As for the single player, I haven't finished all of them yet but so far the game just fails to capture any of the magic that bf1 had. I'm going to be selling my copy soon. As a kid I loved playing World War Two games and with Call of Duty: World at War I have been permanently spoiled when it comes to the historical authenticity of a game. Battlefield V does not quite deliver on the gritty apocalyptic World War Two feel, however there are times where I find myself immersed in the game and the environment of it. The atmosphere of this game is definitely lacking but it is not completely lost as Tides of War could (and should) bring more iconic weapons and content.

Aesthetics and historical accuracy aside the gameplay of this title at its core is absolutely stellar, the gunplay feels fantastic and grand operations is a fantastic gamemode and I quite enjoy playing it and find myself getting lost in it.

The sound and graphics of this game are stunning causing moments of dread when the Jericho Trumpet of a Stuka starts screaming when it begins to dive bomb you, there are many bugs with sound but I'll get to that in a moment. The graphic quality of this game is also quite a step up from Battlefield 1 despite what many may say, for example scratches and scuffs on boots, Stahlhelms, guns, leaves blowing in the wind, and numerous other examples.

Now for the negatives, this game is absolutely riddled with bugs. I wouldn't say the bugs are as bad as Battlefield 4, however there are quite a few gamebreaking bugs. The sound bugs are absolutely atrocious, I hear a distant firefight and turn around to find that gunfight was my squad getting slaughtered right behind me by an enemy. There have also been several times where I get stuck on nothing, can't spawn at all, squad mates not able to spawn in bombers, crashes, random disconnects, and so on and so forth.

Oh I forgot about the war stories, that should give you an idea of how they are. Battlefield 1's war stories were quite enjoyable and mostly memorable while these war stories at launch are quite bad.

The distinct lack of content in the game is another reason this game is just eh, there are a lot of weapons from Battlefield 1 that don't operate the same but I expected more guns, maps, and customization options.

This game at its core is actually very good, it has potential for greatness and can possibly be the best Battlefield game to date given another year or so, but in saying that it should not be that way. I have been enjoying the gameplay but this game could be so much more.
EDIT/UPDATE: This game has had very minimal content be added to it and I would not recommend it unless heavily discounted. The game is just not fun and is severely lacking in content compared to what Battlefield 1 had at this point. Unless you like ripoffs stay away from this game.

Read the Norwegian heavy water sabotage. If they are going to do female characters, they should do the one about the female tankers, and/or the most deadly female sniper in the Red Army. NOPE. Bugs, incomplete content, and super-contrived attempts at 'diversity.' The political correctness is so forced you'll often find yourself in all-female squads and hear women all around you on the battlefield. Don't remember all those women storming the beaches of Normandy? Don't worry. There is no Normandy. No Pacific Theater either. None of the battles you've heard of are in this game. That's probably for the best. I'm not sure if I want to see the entire Japanese army staffed by Africans or Pacific Islanders or whatever. EA controls all the servers so that they can make an extra $50, which pretty much have to be full to play. So you're either waiting in line to join or waiting for others to join. Unlike DICE's accidentally perfect Battlefield 1942, multiplayer will be unplayable within a year. The maps are very small and there is little to explore. In BF 1942, you could hide in the mountains of El Alamein or land a plane in the fields of Bocage to do repairs. Here, you're in someone's line of sight ready to take a bullet at all times. And you cannot land a plane. Or take-off. So instead of people waiting on the runway for planes to spawn, they wait outside the game in the deployment interface. But maybe that's asking a lot of a game developer who forgot to include joystick control. This game is the most anticipated foul up of 2018. Expand

Even after the PR disaster reveal trailer that EA and DICE released to introduce the world to Battlefield V, I still defended the game with a hopeful optimism that this will be an amazing continuation of the narrative style they established in Battlefield 1.

The game had a semi-stable release (compared to BF4 PC) and was actually very fun despite the game-breaking bugs that plague the experience. Patch after patch DICE releases "new content" and "bug fixes" (which essentially re-break the game to a state worse than before) through their live service, Tides of War. This is where I see the main issue is. On paper, I can see how Tides of War can be a very immersive experience; DICE wants to bring the players along a narrative journey throughout World War II as they release new maps and content to encapsulate the attention of players through the life cycle of the game. However, the execution of this live service system has been THE WORST I have ever seen from a Triple A Developer/Publisher (Not a surprise, its EA).

At launch, there were eight maps with SIX game modes (3 of which are unpopular with the PC community) which resulted in a severe content drought and a loss of interest from many players. The game being in an almost pre-Alpha state did not help with its publicity either. Game-breaking bugs, rampant hacking, and the Deluxe Edition SCAM has tarnished the once highly acclaimed Battlefield franchise. There is a dire lack of communication and clarity from DICE to the community which becomes extremely frustrating when players want to know what they are promised in the Tides of War service after being extorted 60 dollars for a far-from-finished product. The most recent patch, as of the writing of this review, is Chapter 2: Lightning Strike which introduces many of the game-breaking bug fixes and "new content" (no new maps until March???). Once again, the bug fixes, while some did work to improve the experience, actually broke the game even more than before. This is absolutely ridiculous and SHAMEFUL that a Triple A company such as DICE, with some of the most prestigious developers of the industry, would dare release a product in such a dismal state. The content that players expected at the release of a new Chapter have either been pushed back or have a big fat SOON slapped onto it. ie Rush, Greece Campaign, Tank-Busting Vehicles, Combined Arms, Firestorm. Everything is just SOON and when the products come out they are either broken or completely below expectations.

I genuinely wanted to like this game and support it in its entirety, but seeing the toxic practices of EA and the downward slope of the Battlefield franchise is extremely disheartening. The Battlefield V memes making fun of this game have been more well made and thought out than this dumpster fire. The hopeful optimism I had from the first time I have heard of Battlefield V is long gone and now I just dread where the rest of this game's life cycle as well as the future of Battlefield games are going. Aside from the amazing sound design and the slightly improved graphics compared to Battlefield 1, Battlefield V ultimately is a husk of what previous games in the franchise were. The game is simply unfinished, rushed, and obviously marketed to be a money-grab for those foolish enough to fall for their ploy. I completely regret my decision to purchase and support this game and I am ashamed to call myself a Battlefield fan. There is a lot of potential in this game that is overshadowed by greed and an effortless production for one of their main franchises.I don't know if EA will change their vile practices or better, if DICE will escape their grasp, but I really hope that the same mistakes they made in Battlefield V will not be reflected in future Battlefield games.

They have officially completely butchered the franchise, brand and WW2 era of gaming in this game.

If you're thinking of getting it, imagine playing Battlefront 2 mixed with Call Of Duty. I say this for two reasons: 1. The guns are all laser accurate (which is fine) but they also have little to no recoil so expect unbelievably fast rate of play and 2. You're a ninja in this installment of BF and you can slide and ninja and parkour all around so expect even more extremely fast paced gameplay. Not only that, but the low plane ceiling and maps with sometimes 8 planes flying around expect basically constant bombing everywhere not in a WW2 air raid way, I mean in a randomized Nuke kinda way. It just makes no sense and it's not how any battles were fought.

This is compounded by DICE's pretentious marketing about the game calling it authentic and immersive when really it's just a Transformers movie in clothing from the 40s.

If you're looking for a game that is true to the WW2 era, has rewarding gun play, has any form of valuable combat tactics, has good plane combat or support, does not have COD-like combat, does justice to the BF franchise, DO NOT GET THIS GAME.

I'm really do feel betrayed by DICE and will never be a true supporter of their company again. Feels like a breakup but it's gotta be done :(

A little too much Dice, you should remember to keep things SIMPLE, TRANSPARENT, AND most importantly of all: FUN! (See Bad Company 2, If I needed a Medic I would just look for the dude wearing the red beret!)

The audio (voice acting/positional audio + sound effects) in the Multiplayer are also underwhelming.
Footsteps, audio cues and sound effects just aren't there to make it feel like a Battlefield game for me.
To get a real sense of what the community expects from DICE in the audio department, see Battlefield Bad Company 2.

The map designs now-a-days are also underwhelming...
I don't feel the same vibes of a true WWII scenario (at least not yet) such as BF1942.

All in all, MP sandbox experience is still there, but I feel that most of the OG DICE Devs are long gone now and don't know if Battlefield will ever be the same again.

Also what's up with the SJW agenda being shoved down our throats?

    1) Constant crashes and disconnects
First of all this is the only game where I usually get disconnected or crash to desktop 2-3 times during a gaming session of less than a couple of hours. Unacceptable because I have seen these errors in bascially all Battlefield games, and it is frustrating finally finding a great game and then get a crash to desktop 15 min into the game. Some days it happens, some days it doesn't (which is super frustrating... You knever know).

Have tried a few fixes and the problem still persists and its worth noticing its the only game this happens in.

Other bugs: I press I want to play a game of Grand Operations. Many times you get dropped into A) Wrong game mode B) Match almost over.

    2) Change of core mechanichs
They changed so many core mechanichs in the game to please 'the masses' while ruining the experience for many seasoned Battlefield fans.

Why did they remove 3D spotting? Great mechanic that I have really liked since Bad Company 2.

Oh man, I could go on. On the positive side many great looking maps with dynamic weather and "epic feeling" when you storm enemtey positions followed by tanks and planes. But experience is quickly ruined by all the negatives (at least from a seasoned BF games POV)

    3) Oh and did I mention cheaters on many servers in PC? Encounter a few situations during the week where people are obviously using aimbot. Why is there no !voteban systems implemented?
Why not innovate (in regard to the BF series at least) and introduce a killcam?

Honestly wish i didn't buy this medicore WWII fps.

Take all the aspects that made BF1 a good game, and scrap them. I recently purchased this game, hoping to have a fantastic experience, like I have had in BF1, especially when I heard good things about the Pacific Theater update. But, all I experienced was an extremely fast pace version of BF1, with way less components for strategic gameplay. Next, my experience on the multiplayer gametypes was horrific. It was just a constant chain of deaths, unless you camp. But, in BF1, I'm able to pull off a 40 to 5 KD ratio. Along with the almost instant deaths, they removed the aspect of spotting enemies. Unless you're a Recon (Scout). Which was a great way to relay information of the location of opponents without having to "quick scope" and camp, like the typical Scout.

I've learned to have a great hatred for this game in its current state. This is excluding the unnecessary Political Correctness that many others have mentioned. So to sum it all up, this game is horrible if you're looking for a Battlefield 1 experience because it's NOTHING like it.

Being a fan of the Battlefield saga, and after the disaster of Battlefield 1, i initially felt hyped about this game. Now that I've played it extensively i truly feel betrayed by DICE. Now i wanted to adress some of my opinions on this game:

    - Yes, DICE wanted the game to feel realistic and in some ways, it does. Graphics and Sounds are amazing, as they usually are in this saga, but the inclusion of Women as front soldiers and guns that never actually made it to the front kinda defeats the point. On top of that, the fact that soviets are not included in the game is straight out outrageous, considering they are the ones who actually won the war, not the americans, nor the british.
    - The Game is crippled with bugs, from graphics to terrains, and especially matchmaking. The quick play button gives you about 50% chance of joining a half empty game, and there is almost no map or game mode diversity on most servers. Even then matches are very often completely unbalanced and just end up frustrating players who end up leaving.
    - The GUI is one of the worst I've ever seen. For real. The "Play" menu is confusing, the "company" (where you equip) and "armory" (your inventory) are horrible and should be fused, the same goes for the "Chapter Rewards" and the "Asignments", as both are missions that gives you rewards.
    - Talking about rewards, the "Chapters" system is unfair, pay-to-win (even tho the game costs 40€ for the standard version) and unlocking any decent skin or gun demand an insane amount of dedication. More insane is the fact that most decent guns where part of chapters, so if you didn't play during that time, well you gotta pay or you ain't getting it.
    - The accessories are basically skins, and the sights are unlocked from the beginning (which is stupid), and the only real customization is the specializations which are few and don't give the player any sense of progress. Not even talking about the absence of a free camera to look at your gun.
    - The vehicles are few, so almost never available, overpowered and the infantry has almost no way of fighting them.
    - The classes that worked amazingly in BF3 and BF4 (Assault, Engineer, Support, Recon) are now pointless kits for you to choose between SMGs, Semi Rifles, Machine Guns/Shotguns or Bolt Action Rifles and give absolutely no incentive on Teamwork or cooperation. Good luck getting healed by the occasional helpful medic.

In conclusion the game dynamics are not bad, even tho it feels more of a big map CoD rather than a true Battlefield, but the game is completely let down by a shady EA monetization system, truly horrible game design and a complete lack of will by DICE to fix the issues and include the content that should have been there since the beginning. As a casual run&shoot game, i'm not saying you can't have fun, but as a 2018 triple-A, serious shooter this is simply unacceptable. As a long time Battlefield fan i cannot recommend anyone to buy this game, and as long as DICE and EA keep pulling out this kind of garbage i do not see why anyone should support them.

    6. Side walking and infantry movements must be slow down(its more like battlefront now)
    7. Number of tanks and vehicles per round must be increased

No battlefield has felt as much as a COD game as this one.
Smaller maps, fewer vehicules, focus on gunfight in close quarters, skill gives places to the "first who spots the other" tactics. You've got it all here.
Classes have been changed, in a bad way. For exemple medics are now redondant, everyone can do anything they can do, just a little slower. Health packs can be picked easily,

Classes have been changed, in a bad way. For exemple medics are now redondant, everyone can do anything they can do, just a little slower. Health packs can be picked easily, you can be revived by non medics, hardly anyone will need your healing. They most likely already have a health pack or they die as soon as they are spotted. I used to finished in the top 3 players playing just as a pure medic and not as a killing machine. You can't do that anymore, as a medic your job is just secondary to killing now.

The focus is now on squad play. Which is lame. How often do you have 3 friends ready to join you? Do you even want to? I usually launch the game for a quick match when I have the time. I do not want to plan an event to enjoy the game every time and playing as squadmates with strangers is a dice roll.
What about the UI? Still terribly confusing. It's messy, doesn't give the right info and makes you go to many clicks to do what you need to. I still haven't really figured out some of the stuff to improve my weapons.
All this and the terrible terrible political stance of this game and its devs... Makes me give it a 1. It's not a good game.
