if i would have needed to write a review about BF4 the first 3 months i would give it a rating of 4 Max, cause Dice released a game which was broken and unfinished at best. Most of us had constant crashes all over the place and we coudlnt even finish a single round.
After now a good 6+ Month we have to admit that they finally fixed most most of the stuff, (insane long time period thou)

So those issues aside, BF4 is great to play if you love teamplay, however the the whole release is more like a BF3 DLC with a new name, graphics didnt get much better and the levolution they announced sooo big is more a fake, its tru big building fall, but its always the same so there is no AI to it, its more like a general map has two stages, one with all in tact, and one where most of the environment is destroyed. All over still a great game, but they way it was sold to us, and they horrible state it was delivered, should give them a big downrating, cause afterall it was a big cheat, imho

Good graphics, but poorly optimized for PCs,especially for 32bit ones! Storyline poor,no major plot. But we don't play a shooter for it's plot. When it comes down to the shooting aspect it is average. It is too easy to get all of the top achievements even on hard that you feel like an total terminator badass. During the campaign I only died twice. So overall BF4 such an average game in all aspects.

Vehicles feel awesome as before and now you don't have to get killed countless times in jets or helicopters to get flare unlock because they are unlocked from the at the beginning. Singleplayer is nothing special but after all Battlefield has always been about multiplayer and the singleplayer is mainly just there because its almost become a standard for Battlefield games to have it. I play BF online exclusively.

I love: The graphics; they're beautiful. I max out with a single GTX760, no SLI. The map sizes; so far they've been huge. "So far" because I can't stay on a server long enough to get a feel for the maps available but I'll get back to stability in a moment. The game play, imo, is the same as it ever was. The map sizes; so far they've been huge. "So far" because I can't stay on a server long enough to get a feel for the maps available but I'll get back to stability in a moment.

The game play, imo, is the same as it ever was. I've been a fan of the BF franchise since BF1942 DEMO and having not played BF in 2 years (BFBC2 I never played 3) I was able to jump into BF4 and get straight to work with minimal drama.

    I hate:
Dependencies. There're too many nonsensical dependencies between me and the game. I click on the BF4 game icon in my start menu and the first thing that opens is Origin, then Firefox, then I get to using the server browser as it occurs on the website which takes a while before finally, The Game [datface.jpg]. Very wasteful and aggravating. What happens when the browser has a problem? No game. But I'm not trying to browse; I'm trying to play.

Immoderate capitalism. I paid about $100 for BF4 "Premium". I went online, chose a server and found myself in a queue. My position was 2 and beside that appeared "PREMIUM PRIORITIZED" or something to that effect which said to me that I'd been put ahead of someone else in line because I was "PREMIUM". This's a game, not a lesson in socioeconomics. I don't want to know that the server considers me a "preferred" player because I spent more money. Just put my arse in a queue and let's get it on already.

Instability! I can get in a good 7 minutes between CTD (crash[es] to desktop). It repeatedly crashes and on a couple of occasions I've fallen with bluescreens. I've been building my own PCs since 1997 and I've bluescreened about 4 times since 2002. Twice playing GTA3 (2002-video driver incompatibility) and twice over the past couple days wrestling with BF4 (BCCode: 1000007e). Not okay.

    Win 7x64 SP1, Xeon 1230 ver. 2 3.3GHz, 16GB, GTX 760

I know the game is till relatively new but I can't see this having been tested prior to release. QC was playing Bomberman 64 or something in the basement when they should've been testing. If I could play the game I'd have rendered of score of something like 8 or 9, I'm sure. In its present condition, however, this game is only worth a 6 7 at best.

Currently the game has quite a few problems, and yeah the campaign is pretty plot-empty and boring, but the multi-player experience is as fun as ever.

The only problems I really have in multi-player are the many spots players can camp and how unbalanced the maps are for certain game levels (but not for Conquest).

The multi-player is fine OTHER THAN THE SPAWNING.
The multi-player is tons of fun, but I recommend having a team to play with because you can occasionally get stuck with mentally challenged 4 year olds.

This may be a personal thing but I find that I get spawn-killed WAY to much for it to be by chance.

Unlocking things is an absolute pain and the game is not necessarily nice to new people. After two weeks, you should have a decent set of gear to choose from.

The single player campaign is crap and makes no sense and it is made worse by the fact that you actually have to play it in order to unlock certain (good) weapons.

The "Levolution" is just a gimmick and should be viewed as such. It is not a serious game play element. Sometimes, it is fun to take out campers by making buildings collapse, but that is it. It is simply for entertainment and is just a cool thing to have.

Sidenote- RUSH IS INCREDIBLY ONE SIDED. THE DEFENDERS ALWAYS HAVE THE UPPER HAND. IF YOU EXPECT TO WIN A GAME OF RUSH WHILE YOU ARE ATTACKING, YOU BETTER HAVE ONE HELL OF A TEAM. ATTACKERS ALMOST ALWAYS RUN OUT OF TICKETS.
However, since it alternates between defending and attacking, you won't go on a 30 rush game loosing spree and it is still fun even if you don't win.

DICE stuck to their roots with Battlefield 4. The game felt like a pretty fresh experience, at least for an FPS, that was until I realised how unfinished the game is.

First, this game is flawed. The gameplay is good, the maps are very hit and miss, but generally very enjoyable and the graphics are very nice. However, DICE have thrown the game out into the public with a lot of broken strings that, even after 14 months after release, still haven't bothered to fix. Instead, they decide to waste time whining on how EA robbed them while releasing mediocre DLC's that most people do not care for. This game is technically good and my negative views on it may be seen as nit-picking, but trust me, it is not. Many times I have had to give up playing due to problems that have overly complicated fixes that numerous purchasers have become victim to.

Despite this, the game is pretty much everything it looks on the outside. Its your typical addicting, eye candy military shooter. I admit that I didn't play the campaign but after Battlefield 3 it was clear where the ambition was, which is the multiplayer. If you know anything about modern FPS game's you probably know how the successful Battlefield formula works. Each map has typically about 32 to 64 slots, depending on the gamemode. The most popular gamemode is the conquest gamemode where two opposing sides must hold as different points of the map as they can to decrease the amount of tickets lost, the first team to reach 0 tickets loses. The maps are large and look stunning. As previously mentioned the map designs are very hit and miss. Some maps are very well designed, such as the brilliant Siege of Shanghai, a typical city map separated by the incredibly large and well designed skyscraper in the middle. This maps standouts out as it accomplishes the feeling of challenge when trying to capture or defend each point, all of which are very well designed. However, even this map if flawed after the skycraper falls as a 'levelution' which definitely was a poor design choice. The desert/warehouse setting of Zavod is also an excellent map which held some of my most intense and fondest moments of playing these games. These aside, BF4 suffers from a lot of poor map design, ranging from the messy and incomplete Hainan Resort to the claustrophobic and dull Operation Locker. The maps really don't balance out and the brilliant maps do not make up for the embarrassingly shocking ones.

The new content is also limited. Not much feels new, this may be a bit unfair since I did not play Battlefield 3 that much, but I felt as though I wasn't getting my $90 worth playing it. This point feels a bit unfair as it's pretty much what's expected for a sequel to a successful multiplayer FPS but its jump from its predecessor feels small compared to what BF3 did from BF2.

As negative as this review may feel, I actually had quite a blast playing this game. It definitely won't a game I see myself coming back to in the near future but it served it purpose well in delivery a fast paced, gorgeous FPS that I can see fans enjoying. For me however, the games bugs and numerous problems make the game more frustrating than it should be.

If you can get past the cheesy voice acting and bad writing, there is a bit of fun to be had in the single player. Luckily the campaign is short and doesn't overstay it's welcome as an appetizer to the main course, which is the multiplayer. One knock against the single player is that you are required to play it to unlock some weapons for multiplayer use; a dumb feature as the majority of gamers will go straight into the MP without wanting to shoot bots 6-10 hours.

    Multiplayer: Welcome back to Battlefield
_Maps_: Borrowing heavily from BF3, BF4 offers the usual array of large maps. Where this game particularly excels is its water levels. The maps including boats are cleverly designed, allowing you to actually use the multiple types of watercraft for nautical domination rather than just as a means to cross. Some maps are a bit too small for my liking, which means you can't sit with a sniper rifle 500 yards back and practice headshots all day, but it also increases the ferocity of the action. In many maps the developers chose to build upwards instead of outwards, which leads to some interesting battles. Furthermore, they've re-introduced true destructibility of the environments, which is a huge plus because rather than rooting enemies out of a fortified building, you can simply blow the entire thing up.
_Game types_: All the usual types are present, TeamDM, SquadDM, Rush, Conquest. I particularly like the Obliteration game type where two teams fight for control of a single respawning bomb which must be taken to each of three enemy bases to win the game.
_Vehicles_: The usual array of vehicles. They've made flying helicopters much easier. The fighter jets spawn flying, so you don't need to worry about those tricky take-offs.
_Connectivity_: This is a big sticking point for some players, complaints of constant disconnections and server crashes. The rumors are true, but exaggerated and improving daily. I've been playing for two weeks and I've had no problems with latency, the game doesn't lag. I have however had issues where my game will crash on spawn or an entire server will crash randomly. In a 4 hour session you could expect 1-2 disconnections.
_Battle log_: BF4 uses the Battle log system to track stats outside of the game and I must say that they improved the BF3 system by leaps and bounds. A plethora of stats, easy to customize your character, easy to connect with other players. Game filtering, favorites, history, it's all there. Dice/EA posts on Battle log when they are having issues or are performing updates so you aren't left in the dark.

    Summary:
In conclusion, I give this game a 7/10.

    Pros:
    -Good graphics
    -Level destruction is back
-Great menu/stats system both in and out of the game
    -Sea battles!
-Enough unlockables to keep you going for 100+ hours

    Cons:
-Disconnections/crashes still happen more than I'd like
-Same old Battlefield nothing truly revolutionary
-Graphics stutter/tear a bit more than they should, but not enough to impact gameplay

So with all that being said those are the only two reasons why I gave this game a 7 vs 10. There is a ton of fun to be had here and i have thoroughly enjoyed mowing down my enemies in MP. With the new customization options soldier classes are the most diverse they ever have been. The game is beautiful as well and level design is unique and fun. but it does fall short of some of the BF3 maps like metro, and seine. With that being Said DICE has a long track record of providing map packs for its games, and soon the most popular Bf3 maps will be brought to this game on the new frostbite 3 engine.

I agree with the people saying that the game feels sometimes like Battlefield 3.5, but some improvements have been done. Sounds are better, graphics also mildly and the guns behave more realistically.

    Problems this game still has:
-Random crashes every now and then
-Sometimes it's a pain in the ass to get to a server, since the service is not working properly
-Hit detection sometimes drags behind. You run to the cover, get there and die from a shot that should have hit you earlier, if it was going to

Another annoyance is the battlepacks... You're unlocking a weapons utilities, and sometimes you just can't know what you'll get, and quite often the random unlocks just prove to be completely useless...

But all these things aside, the actual gameplay is still nice.

    Best FPS ever atm.

Have many issues but there is no better one to counter it.

My main problem with this game that their development is going towards COD.
    ANd thats not good sign.
They try to take COD market while ignoring their fanbase.

Hm, I´m not a multiplayer fan so that part doesn´t bothers me.
The campaign is a little short and quite boring. There are some parts that are intriguing and a lot of that don´t.
    For me it´s a playable benchmark/stresstool ;)
What I really love are the graphics, the animations and the rudimentary ballistics.

I have noted since then that one of the expansions is an import of favorite maps from 3 into 4. I wonder if this decision was inspired by similar feedback concerning level design for 4. It is not uncommon for any company to require patching, but to the extent that EA pushes this fact is now simply a running joke among customers.

That said, this is where the content makes up for quite a bit. I'll forego the Battlefield for adults and Call of Duty for kids argument, but Battlefield has been the definitive military styled shooter for quite a while and I don't see them losing that title.

Of course, the Multiplayer is great but next time they should really make a better Story! Anyway it's a great game but as i said, not as good as Battlefield 3 in my Opinion.

On top of that, the amount of customisations have been grately fleshed out. The weapons feels more personal as a result, which is a great improvement. The levolution is amazing, much more fun than the (Lets be fair now) underwhelming destructables the third tried to blow us away with. The atmosphere is beautiful, not as good as the trailers made it out to be, but i can live with it. And its still much better than the third game, which always made me feel like having a sudden faint on a painfully bright summer day. Love the new cover mechanic, very usefull in tight corner situations, makes operation metro actually playable. The game constantly keeps you on your toes, 9 minutes each team deathmach makes the game easy to just pick upp and play 30 minutes before going to work

    The Negtatives:

I absolutely HATE the constant crashes on dawnbraker, its simply a disaster thet these ones still happens 6 MONTHS AFTER ITS RELEASE!. But most of the negative aspects for me rests on the fact that this game underdelivers, considering its heritage. For example, (and this was a problem in the third game as well). The maps arent realy that big. Remember Bandar Desert in Battlefield 3? It was said to be the biggest map in battlefield history. My main point is, that that should be the OVERALL size of ALL the maps in both these games. Where did the MASSIVE areas that Battlefield 1942 gave us go? The game is called Battlefield! So where is the battleFIELDS?! On top of that, the conquests are way to short. A conquest lasts most times only 15 minutes. 15 MINUTES! What the hell! A Battlefield 1942 game could clock into over 40 minutes. A big letdown to those who hoped that the grapical wonders of this new game would go with the franchise an actually improve the game on all aspects

This game is still a great shooter game. Its still fun to play. The weapons feels better and most of the gameplay mechanics are an improvement from the third game. The downside is the crashes that should have been fixed long ago, preferable BEFORE RELEASE. The maps are small compared to the older games. The music is still a load of farting noices barely recembeling the epic trumpet of battlefield 1942. And the maps is still way to small to overcome the feeling that game gave us. I know it's bold to compare this with so much older games, but my point is that this game should not be outowned by the old battlefield 1942 i ANY AREAS. Overall, a good, unfortunately underwhelming, shooter that keeps you on your toes and never gets boring to play.

PS: In the 5th game, i expect to be able to control SHIP CRUIZERS! Don't disapoint me.

But even with some of the changes made, BF4 feels more like a DLC than anything.

Sure, the graphics have been given a bit of a boost, and overall the gameplay feels great, but it doesn't even scratch the surface compared to BF3, when it comes to the campaign. While the campaign was enjoyable, it felt more driven by gameplay, and fast-paced action, rather than story. And, in the end, I couldn't remember anyone's name, or how it even ended. However, I digress, as I know not everyone is quite as into the campaign as I am.

As far as multiplayer goes, I have only a few complaints, the main one is level design. The maps in BF4 are great, but they aren't quite as memorable as some of the maps from BF3, like Caspian Border, and Kharg Island among others. However, others may feel differently, this is my personal opinion, anyway.

Lastly, I feel one of the main problems with the game, even now, is the netcode. I am no expert in netcode, but when 95% of my kills/deaths are due to crossfire, and getting shot around corners, we have a problem. I think this is something that Dice really needs to focus on, as it really is a game-killer.

Overall, I would've given BF4 a higher score, but I am already being pretty generous, considering the fact that EA pushed this game out early, even though it wasn't even finished. And even to this day, it features a wide array of issues, which could have been avoided, given a little bit of extra time.

Play with five of your friends in a squad and there's no better gaming experience.

But they really needed specific maps for Rush. It's so unbalanced, offense usually has no chance. Rush mode on BF3 was good, and Rush on BC2 was near perfect. Considering that Rush is my favorite mode, I was really disappointed.

Another issue related to this is Sever Crashing, booting you out of matches for no good reason, and the occasional Unbalanced Gameplay,Overpowered Weapon and Netcode Issue Mostly On PC.

First of the story of the company: the worst "partners" in the history of shooters, such nonsense I have not seen anywhere else, if not marked enemies and thus did not give the order (press the Q button throughout the game), these idiots will just sit and watch, even if the enemy is right in front of them, the system will ignore them, as if they do not exist, that's the case. Pleased with the freedom, more cinematic, at least some companions (more or less with the character), the mission on the tank, shooting, pumping, collecting tokens. Overall nicer and more fun than a three-pointer.
At the expense of multiplayer, in short: a lot of excess, almost everywhere, a lot of body kits that are duplicated or half is not used, but it's nice to open them, to get experience for them, to open the next case, to include the increase of experience, which just endlessly fall, although up to 100 rank, you can pump very quickly, do not compare Can't tell you where the best shooting, but a 4 if you compare the trunks of the 3, it seems that as it is easier without recoil, and generally if everything is too simplified, even with the machine gun, you don't need to broadcast the arm which significantly helped in 3, here is something else all.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. As of today, in 2019, with still a few thousand active players and after DICE LA (Danger Close) seemingly saved this game from the downfall that Sweden put it In, I'm very happy to announce that even to this day, the game is content rich and very fun to play, extremely balanced and nothing feels to awful on the multiplayer end, however, the single player is an insult to Kjell (Dice employee who passed. was ex military, the BF4 campaign had a song made for him). The story campaign wise makes little to no sense, has easy terminology such as "sailor, or "marine" mixed up on characters that are not those things, clearly has no clue how US Military works at all, cutscenes that are broken, sequences that fail to trigger and cause massive anger as these bugs are game breaking like when trying to kill the Helo in the first mission, many times it wont die, how BF3 story is more polished than this is beyond me, the campaign, though its acting was amazing, just felt lazy, example, when you leave china and are on the pontoon and irish is yelling for people to follow him, he tends to yell toward the front of the boat, implying people are there too, yet if you look, there's no ships or people there, like what the **** are you yelling at? it just feels out of place. The war they are in makes no sense, also how Chinese managed to take out a whole US fleet and none of these ships seemingly had any of there tech working or had any sort of comms because apparently EMP knocks out everything for 50km out to sea causing a fleet of 20 ships to go down to one, because it makes sense that top of the line military hardware including AA cant shoot down **** helo's or apparently nobody mans their stations... Even worse is the ending, DICE clearly has no clue how C4 works, also WHY THE HELL DID SOMEONE HAVE TO DIE WHEN THEY LEFT A RHIB BOAT RIGHT NEXT TO THEM WHERE THE C4 CHARGE WAS SUPPOSED TO SIT, LIKE DID DICE FORGET HOW THE "MARINES" ENDED UP GRAPPLED TO A BRIDGE??? NOBODY HAD TO DIE, ALSO C4 WOULD NOT KILL YOU IF YOU JUST ****ING SWAM LOW, ALSO SINCE WHEN DID C4 JUST BLOW UP DESTROYERS?? Like jesus they put zero effort into this story at all. Its absolutely repulsive, which makes you wonder, they spent so much money on the story yet its this awful, I mean **** they had RYAN REYNOLDS AS YOUR CHARACTER ON THE BOX, USED HIM AS THE CHARACTER MODEL FOR RECKER, HAD ALL THESE HOLLYWOOD NAMES, YET THE STORY WAS THAT BAD. KJELL WOULD BE INSUTLED, HE WAS IN THE MILITARY, YOU TURN SACRAFICE INTO A JOKE. Expand

But at the end of the day, it's the closest current gen game to Battlefield 3 and introduced 64 player matches to consoles. That alone should give it 7/10. You can make a good argument for giving it a 5/10 (but not lower than that) when considering that this game can be summarized as an inferior version of BF3, but this argument becomes less and less relevant as the online BF3 servers become more and more sporadic. The dedicated fanbase to BF4 even two games later is a testament to its greatness.

This game has one of the best graphics in an fps I've ever seen. Comparing to it's biggest rival COD, BF4 blows COD out of the freaking water (at least in terms of the graphics)!! The second plus for this game is the factions. Now you also get to play as China! No longer is it going to be America vs AlQaeda this AlQaeda that... America vs Russia. Same sh*t... Now you get something so fresh. Join China and shoot Americans lol. This is what I'd like to see. Different perspectives =)

Ok, besides graphics and factions, I'd say the shooting mechanics are well done too. The story mode is too scripted and linear but nobody plays it anyway so I won't judge the game by its sp. Overall, Battlefield 4 is a decent shooter with one striking problem that all shooters suffer from. The repetitiveness omgg!! You run, you gun, you camp, you capture locations, you get shot, and you wake up again. Over and over. So in 2 hours you'll be doing the same thing. After 4 hours, still the same...And after 10 hours. mate, it's just the same over and over. I mean, how long do you expect anyone to be doing this?? There's no strategy involved, no cooperation with teammates, no creativity, it's blind and mindless shooting. Lots of people are into that these days. WELL NOT ME!!! Not going to buy an fps anytime soon. And this game was released back in 2013!!

If not for the bugs I would give this game a higher rating 8 or 9 for fun factor and replayability, but the game crashing after one match, sound cutting out, lag, and other stuff that shouldn't be present in a released, it gets the lowly 6 of shame. I just don't get the hype, playing it I still find the maps to be rather lacklustre compared to previous maps in the series (not including BF3) and it just feels and looks exactly like BF3...

Maybe I'm just bored of Battlefield, but I don't see that as my problem, they should have done something new with the series.

Second it has ridiculously slow gridny leveling (and unlocking) forcing you to buy premium (more unlocks) or pay for unlocks (another ~40 euroes). In 6 weeks of playing it I have unlocked maybe 1/4 of what it has to offer (or buy).
Third it's just not really fun. That's the biggest flaw. All the weapons are clones of each other. Maps are boring with map destruction being crap (fun to look at but it's actually a detriment to gameplay).
Vehicles own everything and there is still no system for assigning them to players, so you have to camp for it and get lucky if you want one.
Voice acting is surprisingly **** bad. Sound effects are pretty good, and like mentioned above graphics are of the highest possible quality, inducing erection in you for a few weeks until you get used to it.

Nah for me it's a good game ruined by massive greed, just another one to add to EA's **** titles list.

Campaign is a joke. But we don't play BF for the campaign so I'll skip to the multiplayer. This is an inherently good squad FPS game, probably the best of it's kind. Solid shooting mechanics and a very robust leveling system. It is let down by bad map design, too few infantry-based maps, and a terrible web browser based matchmaking system. 6/10.

Granted my GPU memory is only 2Gb but I meet the recommended system requirements by far and my issues don't seem to be related to my hardware. I still get a lot of input lag and the frequent crashes wouldn't be quite so bad if they didn't make you lose all of the progress for that round. I spent 45 minutes playing a round trying to level my pistols and I got maybe 12 pistol kills which was enough to unlock more add-ons for that pistol as well as a new pistol. In literally the last minute of the game, it crashed and I lost all my progress. This happens about 1 in 3 games to 1 in 4 games and is very frustrating. My score will be based on all the technical problems that have not been addressed properly since the beta.

Single player hasn't grabbed me in any special way and so far its been almost pulling teeth to play it. I'd like to see them make missions that teach you how to use all of the classes and the vehicles instead of throwing a very derivative story at you. Put us through boot camp and teach us the strategy proper way to utilize the environment and items. I am glad that they included the test range where you are able to try out all of the vehicles and all of your unlocked weapons on some static and some moving targets. It is definitely a nice addition to those new to the series.

As far as the multiplayer goes, it's Battlefield and all the good and bad that people are familiar with are present. I was hoping that by now, people wouldn't be able to magically enter and exit their vehicle making it a little harder to take drivers and pilots out when they are standing next to a vehicle one second and magically appear inside the next. When you're trying to take out vehicles with jets or helicopters, it can be tiresome to do pass after pass while the drivers simply hop out in a half a second and repair their vehicle while you wait for your weapons to reload.

Things do feel a little better balanced than BF3 and they removed the horrible suppression feature that got out of hand in BF3. Well, it is actually there still but people are not as affected they were and the only time you get very suppressed is by LMGs.

The maps are my major gripe with the game. I just don't care about any of them. Usually there is at least one that is just great and everyone plays but none of the maps have that special something and in fact I very much dislike a few of the maps. I really enjoyed the maps in Battlefield 3, especially when they included the BF2 maps in DLC. If they don't offer some good new maps in DLC very soon, I can see the game getting old very quickly.

Overall it's fun and they've added somewhat enough that it doesn't just feel like Battlefield 3.5 even though at times it does. This series seems to be moving closer to the console market in every new iteration. You level much faster in this game than Battlefield 2 and maybe even Battlefield 3. I really hope they don't turn the series into Madden or COD with a new throw away game you play for a few months and wait for the next years game. If the game worked a little better and had less frustrating issues, I'd probably give it an 8. If this game doesn't release some good DLC soon, I can't imagine the game will have the staying power that Battlefield series has had in the past.

    - Wall peeking and performance is actually better than BF3 for me at least using nvidia 670 fx 8350 )
    - Balanced weapons people will debate this )
    - No one really communicates with each other

    Cons:

    - Requires Battlelog
    - Requires Origin
    - Crashes somewhat frequently (2 out of 10 games for me)
    - Very unbalanced vehicles
    - Tiny aim dot for jets
    - Many invisible wall collisions
    - Hit detection that was worse than BF3s but occurs less often
    - Objects have bad collisions sometimes invisible walls intercept your shot trajectory )
    - Enemy squadmates spawn on allies while you are killing them meaning they can easily kill you as you will have spent most of your clip on the first guy.

Conclusion: For most of you this will put it simply enough. I got Premium for BF3 and didn't feel like a cent was wasted but I will not be getting Premium for BF4 at all.

I'm rating this a 6 mostly since the game does function most of the time. So many features are still missing from BF4 that are found in most newer FPS games - matchmaking, balance between sides, pre-game lobbies, etc. The server style reminds me more of older FPS games such as Quake... at least Quake loaded within reason back in the day.

With US and Russian conflicts at an all-time high due to the events of BF3--and with China on the verge on siding with the Russians due to the assassination of their leader being blamed on the US--it's up to you and your squad mates to help prevent war from breaking out. As a story, it's not that bad. The voice acting is once again great; the characters are slightly better and more memorable this time around compared to BF3; and the settings are still nice and varied. Unfortunately, you're still a boring silent protagonist with no personality. Overall, the campaign is better than BF3, but it could still be improved upon. 6/10

Gameplay: The shooting remains largely the same as in BF3 (although with no stupid panic-knifing enemies), but with the added addition of squad gameplay. Since you lead Tombstone squad, you can spot enemies for them to shoot, and have them enter vehicles and fight with you. You can also change what weapons and gadgets you use in the campaign to suit your play-style. All of the improvements are nice, but the gameplay is still largely the same as before. 6/10

Graphics: In short, the graphics are everything that made BF3 gorgeous, but made even better and without the annoying blue tint. Although, the vehicle collision and character models can still be better. 9/10

Sound: DICE is excellent at creating realistic sound designs in their BF games. The sound here is everything from BF3, but once again, made even better. Simple as that. 10/10

Multiplayer: Unfortunately, the MP here is disappointing when compared to BF3, and it's not because of its launch issues. For starters, the 4 infantry classes from BF3 return with some tweaks made to their arsenal. One big new feature is "Levolution"--a mostly gimmicky feature where each map has a scripted large-scale destruction sequence (like a building collapsing) caused by player action, and it only affects one part of the map. There are also an abundant amount of vehicles--land, air, and sea--to use from with improved unlock orders; Commander mode--a mode where 1 person steps away from the battlefield and gives orders to all squads on a team in hopes of leading them to victory--returns from BF2 with a few new features that might be considered balance issues like highlighting areas with radar; Assignments--challenges from BF3 that rewarded you with guns and customization items--are also available to add more replay value to the game; the suppression was balanced; and there are still a plethora of gadgets to use. There's a lot to like about BF4, but there are also some MAJOR flaws in its system. The game does have 10 maps, but these maps aren't as fun as 3 and often feature plenty of camping spots like the rooftops of buildings where the only way you can get up there is usually with a helicopter; but even then, you'll probably have to deal with a few squads of campers which might lead to a death. Outside of conquest, these maps mostly SUCK for other modes like Deathmatches or Rush. And speaking of modes, there is a lack of new game modes here. Besides Conquest, Rush, Deathmatches, and Domination (rip-off of CoD's domination mode), there are only 2 new ones, and both flopped. There's Defuse--BF4's attempted response to CoD's Search and Destroy mode that failed--and Obliteration--a "CoD Sabatage-style" mode with 3 bombs on both sides that flops because of the large map size, and the limitation of only 1 bomb carrier; so if you spawn far away from him, the mode becomes a running simulator since you'll have to get up to where the action's happening. The counter-knife system--where if you knife a guy in the front, a QTE pops up--sucks, but 4's BIGGEST sin is it's progression system. For starters, there are an excessive amount of guns to choose from, and while it's good for allowing more customization for the player, there's so many guns that they all start to feel the same. Why would I need 9 different sniper rifles if they all perform the same? It's like DICE copied and pasted several gun stats and merely changed the looks. And unlike BF3, you DON'T unlock guns by progressing your class as the 2 are separate. This means you HAVE to get kills with that gun class in order to unlock more guns. With all classes that have the last gun at somewhere in-between 48K-83K, you would need HUNDREDS of gun kills and assists in order to progress. This is all on top of that same stupid attachment progression system from 3. There are also Battlepacks--packs of random loot from attachments to XP boosts--that are very much unnecessary and almost pay-to-win due to the awful progression system. This game, essentially, is a major GRIND-FEST that only gets fun once you have everything you wanted unlocked, and good luck with that. 6/10

Verdict: The game had promise, but with a grind-y progression system, and maps that only work for Conquest, Conquestfield 4 disappoints.

    Rating: 6/10

Sadly the formula Dice used in BF4 sucks. The flying the jets require no skills, the soldiers can be easily killed. spawn areas are messed up......etc what shall i say. the maps are small and its like playing 64 players on 32 or 48 players map.... console feeling. the only good thing is the graphics.

I wouldn't worry about "having to be online to play single player", because the single player is kind of garbage anyways. Forcing players to use a website AND origin instead of an executable client is a joke. The minor advantages of this far outweigh the negatives. Steam users be aware that integration with steam/steam overlay is difficult and nearly impossible.

The dedicated servers are not maintained by the developers. There are frequent crashes, mostly due to the abysmal optimization for PC, which was supposed to be a key seller over COD. Honestly expect to be disconnected or experience a DirectX/driver crash once every three games. But hey, who cares? PS4 is where all the money's at, right?!

The gameplay itself is so-so. Modes like Conquest capture the feeling of a large battle excellently. However, I realize that the game itself is only a few months old, and improvements will be made over time. The effort made in cross-platforming with Commander Mode of tablets is ambitious and worthy of applause.

    Ultimately, just play Battlefield 3.

The gameplay however feels like they've copied and pasted everything from BF3 into a semi different-ish scenario. however the major downfall for me has to be the fact I haven't actually been able to get any further than the third mission (I'll keep this as spoiler free as possible) while driving (sailing?) a boat back to an even bigger ship I was hit by a huge wave of bugs and glitches planes hovering doing nothing, gunfire coming from an invisible enemy ship, enemies disappearing in front of my eyes, at one point my ship randomly exploded for no apparent reason, the (useless) AI screaming at me to watch out for the helicopter that is supposedly coming for us, I saw no helicopter and a ship that is impossible to catch up with its almost as if when you think you're getting close the captain presses a boost button. Now don't get me wrong this game has got potential but I feel they have rushed to get the 360 version onto the market while focussing all their attention to the future Xbox One version of the game and on multiplayer. I haven't played any of the multiplayer aspects of BF4 just yet I was planning to finish the story before doing so but now I'm a little scared that I will be met with endless lag and bugs.

BF3 inherently had many technical problem including shoddy netcoding, hardware compatibility issues, and general problems that just never got fixed. For PC players hoping BF4 is finally fixed, you're going to be in for a bad time. For PC players hoping BF4 is finally fixed, you're going to be in for a bad time. Yes it is the first day of release, but for a game that took over two years to develop, is that really a viable excuse? So many other games come out nowadays that run perfectly fine from the get go. BF4 honestly runs better than its predecessor but fixable issues still exist. The most obvious is the sound on some maps. It will just cut out and not work at all. It's not an isolated problem, it's a game related problem.

BF4 single player in a nutshell: worthless. The pathetically short campaign will assault your intelligence throughout. It doesn't look like they put a lot of effort into the story but visually it's pretty nice. Little things irked me. For example moving across a bridge in a storm. Soldiers don't get blown off the bridge, but 2 ton vehicles do. And not just slide off, I'm talking about levitating and flying off at violent speed. Yet a 120lb female doesn't get pushed around. OK. Successful games these days are successful because of the little details. You won't find that in the single player.

MP maps are pretty damn good though which make up for the lack of single player but I was having random crashes after about 20 minutes in most cases. Brand new computer that is more than capable mind you. The Battlefield franchise is really starting to push me away from PC gaming. It's the first game I've played that consistently makes you troubleshoot every piece of hardware you have in order to get the game to run.

    My specs:
    i5-4670k
    AMD R9 280x
    8GB 1866mhz RAM
    128GB SSD

Sad day. The series is becoming more and more *cheap*, very much about explosions and looking like a crappy Transformers movie than actual good gun game/shooting mechanics. I still hang my hat that BF2 and BF42 have done the best job in the series in putting together fun maps, even gameplay, and awesome shooting mechanics that are downright fun across all vehicles. BF4 feels cheap, crappy, and sterilized. I am disappoint. The more I play these *huge blockbuster game releases*, the more I find myself being satisfied disproportionately by Steam games that I had never heard of.

The time for sheeple consumerism at teh checkout line for major game releases is finally being gifted with the dawn of a new era, the Steam era of india gaming connections. We have CHOICES! Jut because they lambasted the BF4 marketing campaign on us does NOT mean this game is better than an average score of 6.5!

The games multi-player is really good on consoles the controls are easy, the game play is fun and servers are fine. Where on PC the controls are easy The Game play is fun but the servers are HORRIBLE
You get Randomly disconnected .net framework dosen't half the time and nvidia fps is 30 with a good graphics card and 60 with an amazing gfx card.
the single player is glitched as well

The game itself is good, but until EA manages to deal with the game breaking bugs the game is garbage, after it all gets patched there is potential for a good. Come on Dice get you crap together and release a working game.

Broken Mechanics for Multiplayer hinders this game to be called Great and a forgettable campaign but a good entry to the Battlefield series regardless.

It seems like EA Dice has learned a few marketing Techniques from Infinity Wards Call of Duty series. This game is basically Battlefield 3 repackaged but worse... a least for now (Read why below)

Single Player: When the game came out Single Player and even Multiplayer were unplayable due to unforgivable optimization on the pc port. Now after a few days it has been fixed (to an extent)

Single Player: When the game came out Single Player and even Multiplayer were unplayable due to unforgivable optimization on the pc port. Now after a few days it has been fixed (to an extent) but still experiance Lag spikes from Video and internet (Battle log). The Single player experiance is no different from your average War shooter but it feels like Michael Bay had directed it. Too many explosions is sometimes a bad thing especially for an Average gamer PC. There isn't really any story to follow just a forgettible experiance we all played before.

Multiplayer: EA Dice claims that this is a new FrostBite Engine however there doesn't seem to be any noticable differences I guess another marketing technique. The UI for your loadouts have changed into four weapon sections one of them being unique to the class you choose. The game is unstable filled with Server Lag Rubberbanding and stutters. A more common issue is the constant crashing which they still have not fixed yet in this game. If multiplayer worked out smoothly I would give this game a point. One thing I noticed is that DICE has a thing for Tanks. Each map has an abundance of tanks leaving infantry warfare meaningless especially when Engineer can barely do any damage to any armored vehicle because Dice removed Weak points. One of my biggest concerns are the Map Design. This guy needs to be kicked off the team because these maps are tiny especially on a 64 man server with an abundance of armored vehicles besides that the maps are 60% water based maps... Really Dice? A nice addition is the Dynamic Maps that change the battlefield throughout the game and the return of Commander mode wich was popular in BF2 and 2142.

Im giving this game untill the next expansion and if it suprises me it would get a 8/10 but for now the six seems generous.

    Pros: Commander Mode Returns!
    Dynamic Environments
    64 player match ups
    Free expansion on pre-order
    New Obliteration Mode

    Cons: Forgetful Single Player
Really Poor Optimization (Worse then the Beta)
No in Game Server Browser (Just Web client)

Battlefield 4 could just as well be called Battlefield 3.5. The new Battlefield features are only marginal improvements over Battlefield 3, but even as such it leaves the competitors way behind. Hopefully the bugs will be squashed soon. [Nov 2013]

Even if multiplayer wasn't buggy, Battlefield 4 would still only be a barely passable installment in all respects besides the snazzy graphics. EA and DICE played it safe by providing the same thing they did the last time around, with another phoned-in campaign and only minor alterations to the online.

Battlefield 4 keeps soldiering on in the same footsteps as previous games in the series. The lack of worthwhile news makes you wish for more. Dice stays in its comfort zone calls for explosions and not much more. The series needs to evolve or fade out.
