Well it certainly delivered the goods on PC with it's DX11 effects, it's just stupidly good fun on a 64player map with all the **** happening...feels like a real war with the perfect sound, graphics and playabilty mix.

There is no way MW3 will get close to this title for sheer destruction and mayhem.... a must buy for all FPS fans.

It honestly frustrates me that a game this great has such a low user score. All I see up and down the review page is people complaining about the single player. It's just the same for Battlefield 3, all the horse power and true design is in the multiplayer, which is by far one of the best, if not the best mutiplayers ever produced: it's immersing, the graphics are jaw dropping, and there is much strategy and team based play to be had here. Take Battlefield for what it really is, a solid 10/10 multiplayer based experience. Expand

I myself am a little put off by it, but remember this. what did everyone say when steam first came to our gaming lives? what did the reviews say for the first valve games launched on steam? It was an outcry of hatred from half-life and counter-strike players. But now steam has worked out many bugs and improved and many people have come to like it. So much that they are complaining that BF3 is not being launched on steam. I think some competition in the online gaming distribution platform world might eventually bring some good things to us gamers. So lets rate the game for the game itself! damn good fun -1 for single player that could have had more however i still enjoyed it and like most am mainly focused on the amazing Multi!! Anyways I loved this game. So Battlefield isn't known for its campaigns but I actually really enjoyed it. Im not big on multiplayer and getting online in fact I NEVER get online to play but this is the first game I did and you know what I loved it even though I did get owned a few hundred times. I'll get there in the end. Its funny that some of you have posted up whinging about the prone position but in real battle can you not do that or is that just not an option?? And i did a bit more homework where I looked at a few games some of you have reviewed and some gave this game 0-3 yet gave Portal 2 10 go figure. Need I say more. I say good job to Dice and EA considering all the media hype around this game it was a little disappointing when I played it but overall still loved this game. Smooth gameplay like when your leaping over it made me feel like it was more realistic ok so its not as good as Rage in my eyes but I still highly rate this game based n the multiplayer and speaking of that Im going back to that now. This game is highly recommended and I hope you will actually play this game and give it a go.

Battlefield 3 is what it should be. A real shooter game with heavy realistic graphics and great multiplayer. The single player is beautifully done and the entire system is perfect. If they take out the EA spyware, this would be a perfect game. With the PC's excellent graphics, this game should please fans and newbies of Battlefield and Call of Duty fans alike too!

The single player is not bad, it's just not groundbreaking... but it's really just a warm-up to the main event. I get great performance with my single GTX 460, no stuttering, and I have 0 lag with no disconnects so far after 8 hours of multiplayer play. If you're experiencing lag then the problem is your connection. Only thing I hate so far is the complete lack of teamwork I've experienced so far while playing online... c'mon people, stop picking the sniper kit and sitting out of site of all the flags, or at least put down your radio beacon some where useful and make some type of positive impact on the actual battle. If you're experiencing technical difficulties, it's not the game, it's your rig and your background processes. Playing with a fresh hard drive and a fresh install of windows, I've had 0 problems with the game, beta included. Can't say the same about trying to play off my other, everyday Windows install. My advice: don't play your games off the same hard drive/partition that you use for porn. Expand

Sure the plot is kinda cheesy and at part plain ridiculous (using a sniper rifle to shoot out lights in a parking area just for a heli drop wtf?) but so is practically every other modern shooter I played (yes, COD included!).
Multiplayer is awesome. Only begun to scratch the surface of it. I kinda like the new Battlelog system. Much faster then the old in-game server browser of BC2. All of the bugs in the beta are gone from what I've seen, but there are some quirks that are native to all DICE games. Still, the game is remarkably polished. I judge a game by the fun I have playing it and with BF3 awesome graphics and multiplayer experience, it's a no brainer.

Subtleties like AI character expressions, overall accuracy in depicting how things are done in the military (Like the launch sequence in the jet mission "Going Hunting"), the sound realism, and much much more. Of course, the bugs/glitches that pop up throughout the story, along with an overy scripted gameplay and short, cliche story line are all certain to factor as detractors to an otherwise flawless new battlefield addition. However, if you're like me, a battlefield purist at heart, you consider the campaign to be nothing more than an added bonus to an otherwise complete and absolutely incredible multiplayer game that is sure to take up hundreds of hours of your time, and is likely to go down as one of the most groundbreaking games in video game history. MULTIPLAYER REVIEW ONLY (from a real FPS player, old school CS 1.6 and BF1943)

Sum it up? This game is amazing.

Why? It feels FRESH, as in it doesn't feel like COD or BC2 or any other previous game before it. I'm just going to sum everything up in bullets below so it answers most of your questions.

    - Graphics: Amazing, just amazing. You don't need 2 x GTX 580's to run it! I run it on Ultra with 2 x GTX 560's and that even feels like overkill. (sorry I don't have ATI to tell you what's good)

    - Sound: The sound alone in this game adds so much to the experience, adds a layer of tension and excitement you've never felt before.

    - Recoil: great recoil, kills/deaths are very satisfying, just the right balance so you don't have idiots running around (COD) spraying everywhere getting kills, AND it doesn't need to be on hardcore mode to feel just right.

    - Maps: The only reason people are mentioning BF3 multiplayer wanting to be like COD (that makes any sense to me) is some maps are smaller than the usual ARENAS we are used to. So basically they wanted to cater to a larger audience (COD players) who don't ALWAYS want to play in very large maps. Even with 64 players, maps like Caspian Border can have moments where you are just looking for someone to shoot for a few minutes, which isn't bad but to some people it can turn them off (kids with ADD). But they have the perfect maps for every type of player, the smaller maps are so well put together, I never once found myself feeling I'm getting killed or shot at from every corner. Everything felt balanced.

    - Replay Value: I was in awe for the first 45 minutes of playing online. Yes, I did play the Beta like everyone else but the final version felt much, MUCH better. Aside from the countless hours you are going to put into unlocking weapons etc in this game, the multiplayer gameplay itself is worth a good 2-3 years of solid gameplay for the average player. The biggest thing that stood out to me from Bad Company 2 was that it felt very dull, this is leaps and bounds above BC2. There is nothing I can complain about for the multiplayer. Conclusion: This is the game to buy for you guys who love MP FPS games. I am only writing this review because I see too many idiots bashing this game for its campaign. Battlefield is all about mutliplayer, if you want a solid campaign go play COD4. If you are having a hard time deciding between this and COD, I can tell you that this is the one game that combines every good aspect from all types of FPS games.

Multiplayer, this game is everything it should be. I was looking for a battlefield game with huge maps, great vehicles and large player counts and this game more than provided that. Except for some first day release bugs (lag, a little rubberbanding, things that are expected the first day of release) the gameplay has been flawless. The maps are huge, but not too big that you spend forever just getting to a point. The vehicles feel right. The tanks feel like the did in BF2, not like BC2. I'm not that great at flying jets, I usually avoid them, but the ambiance they add to a battlefield is amazing. Nothing beats rolling up in a tank while you're watching four jets battle above your head.

The graphics are beautiful! And yes, it does take quite a rig to run it on the highest settings. Luckily I have a few graphic cards laying around so i can experiment with different setups. I get about ~45 fps on my gtx 460 on High settings, which still look great. I get about 50 or so using a HD 6950. However, I get mid to low 20's on both cards when I'm using ultra settings. I do however have a second 6950, and using both at the same time I'm able to get mid 50's on Ultra. Yes, it does look great, but to be honest, just stick with High settings, the loss of frame rate isn't worth the better graphics.

Overall, this game is everything I've wanted in a battlefield game. I've been following the development of this game very closely since it was announced, and due to the beta gameplay, I was very worried that I was going to be disappointed. But DICE pulled through, and made an OUTSTANDING product, props to you DICE.

Battlefield 3 is a gorgeous and smooth multiplayer FPS that is fun to play if you have tons of time to devote to it and have been playing since launch day. I feel sorry for anyone who hasn't started playing yet or who will receive this game as a gift later this year since they are in for an experience equivalent to hazing.

I feel sorry for anyone who hasn't started playing yet or who will receive this game as a gift later this year since they are in for an experience equivalent to hazing.

Battlefield 3 is deliberately abusive to new or below-average skill players. Yes, there are weapons to unlock like previous Battlefield games. Unfortunately, DICE has taken a good thing to the extreme this time around. Did you know you can unlock faster firing speed for vehicles, faster reloads for vehicles, better body armor against explosives, faster sprinting, bipods that make your aim steady, and more? If you haven't started playing by now your enemy has all of these advantages. If you haven't started playing yet you don't have these advantages and will be constantly dominated by players who do have these advantages.

Unfortunately, there is no way to avoid this immediate disadvantage. You must fight through ever-increasingly difficult odds just to try and rank up to the level of your opponents. By the time you get there they will scored so many points against you that the problem of imbalance will persist. This is not a game that features a level playing field. It goes out of its way to make it imbalanced whether you drive a vehicle or hoof it on foot. Even the vehicles have features that must be unlocked. Enjoy being a sitting duck in an armored vehicle as the enemy pelts you with a faster firing speed and missile that you haven't unlocked.

I could add some commentary about maps in this game. I could add commentary about weapons and vehicles. None of that really matters when the core gameplay mechanics are this badly imbalanced. None of the game's content or performance matters when you join a multiplayer server and find that even your allies sprint right by, demand you let them drive a vehicle because it doesn't have unlockable offensive and defensive capabilities when you drive, or your friends refuse to play on your team because you're too far behind them in terms of unlocks and ranks.

I cannot advocate for a game in which gives players advantages over each other. Weapon unlocks were a nice way to add diversity to the game. Giving players advantages the same way they unlock new content is absolutely brutal. This is not a game of skill or an objective-based team game -- it is purely about who can unlock the most content the fastest.

Gameplay is severely lacking. Instead of the feeling of huge maps in battlefield 2, it's as if they've tried to combine BF2 with CoD, which has just failed quite spectacularly. Where you hide from the tank/helicopter going past you. Where you can snipe somebody from far away. This game gives absolutely nothing of this. Then there are all the balance and spawnkilling issues, but it would take too long to get into them.

Now, this game would still be worthy of a green rating if you weren't forced into having to deal with glitches constantly. First there's the obvious one, the horrible game launcher forcing you to reload and unload the entire game every time you want to switch servers. Which incidentally also forces you to be in a game while setting your settings. Then there's the weird movement, they've tried making the game more smooth by adding animations and the sort for jumping over things. The problem is they've failed miserably, and it's not smooth at all.

Then there are all the problems with EA, I've found ea support to be not only slow and unhelpful, but that they'll also directly lie to you about billing (yes, I've been billed twice on my single copy of BF3, and despite contacting support about this for the first time BEFORE the game was released, I have yet to receive any sort of refund at all) Of course this doesn't say anything about the actual game, it just shows that EA doesn't care about it's customers.

If you liked the campaign, then well, you A. Have low standards or B. Have not played many other shooters in the last well, I dunno, 10 years? The multiplayer is a completely different animal. It's fierce, intense, with big open maps and feature filled ( I love all the new unlocks). My only complaints are how everything is done through battlelog on your web browser and how it's still quite buggy. I liked BFBC2's setup better where the server browsing is done IN GAME. A minor gripe I have is the underground paris subway tunnels level. It does not seem very well designed because everyone bottlenecks at one particular point and it just becomes a which-team-can-throw-the-most-grenades-fest.

Anyway, I treat the singleplayer campaign as an addon to a robust multiplayer suite so I'm not going to be harsh and knock it down 5 rating points for that like some unreasonable people do. The multiplayer strengths more than make up for the lackluster campaign.

Bottom line: Buy it if you want somewhat tactical and realistic multiplayer action, do NOT buy it if you are the type of person who only plays games for the single player portion.

Sure there may be a few too many quicktime events, but overall it was interesting, fun, and beautiful I might add. This also on low graphics it looks amazing (so my laptop can run it, which it does pretty well). Like the most lifelike characters I've ever seen in any game with very realistic movements, and a game where when you play the campaign you want to slow down just to look around is pretty darn good. If any issues I've mentioned above hinders your thoughts about this game then you have missed the point entirely, because MP is absolutely the best I have ever played. People have asked for innovation and it has arrived. If you didn't expect such an ambitious game to have a little bit of a rocky launch because of everything they're releasing, then don't ask for innovation. The problems I've experienced are nothing absolutely major and can be easily patched out soon. Back to MP, the amount of customization that is allowed on each class and gun provides gameplay exactly how you want it. And one of the things that really sets BF3 apart is that you have so much freedom in how you play and it still remains extremely balanced. The amount of game modes you get and number of maps that are all stellar combine for the most fun and biggest deal you can get out of a game. I could go on and on, but this game has so much to offer, things that are really good are also the co-op mode along with the sound that is stellar and destruction that never leaves you feeling safe. If you have the patience to play what can be played and let Dice work out the server kinks then you can truly appreciate this game for what it is, a different experience that is ultimately most fun you'll have all year. First off, any Battlefield game is about 20% singleplayer, 80% multiplayer. That being said, the multiplayer is phenomenal. 64 players battle on foot, in vehicles, and in the air on huge beautiful maps without a hitch, and every minutes of it is exciting. If you do managed to get bored, there are other classes, vehicles, and strategies to try out to keep you interested for a long time.First off, any Battlefield game is about 20% singleplayer, 80% multiplayer. If you do managed to get bored, there are other classes, vehicles, and strategies to try out to keep you interested for a long time. I've seen lots of reviews about glitches etc. (a lot based on the BETA...*cough*), but my experience has been flawless. Also, for anyone talking about a wealth of "hackers" already...I think you just need to practice a bit more.

Despite Battlefield being a multiplayer franchise, the singleplayer holds up nicely. It certainly is by no means groundbreaking. It tells a familiar story with the exact same structure as that of CoD: Black Ops, but nonetheless it is engaging with a few "wow" moments. Playing through on the "hard" setting I felt as though whenever I died it was fair, aside from one chapter with the old "endless wave until you advance" stage.

Overall, I give it a 9, because the singleplayer is fairly unimaginative (although lots of fun), but the multiplayer is a 10 (ignore co-op, it's short and basically a throwaway). Very solid.

The sound design, which has always been a hallmark of the Battlefield series, is so good that you feel like you're truly smack in the middle of a fight. DICE has really outdone themselves in this department. Graphically, it's about as good as it can look given the restrictions the aging Xbox and PS3 hardware has. Fantastic lighting and particulate effects and authentic and up to date vehicle design. I'm jealous that PC owners get to play this in all its DX 11 glory. If Battlefield 3 is this good on current gen consoles, I can't wait to see what the sequel looks like on next gen consoles! You have an insane amount of unlockables and seemingly unending ways you can spec your weapon loadout before you spawn in. There is essentially none of the silly killstreak rewards like RC bomb cars that Call of Duty has and it's better for it. DICE has spent a lot of time on game balancing and though some would whine and say this weapon is too powerful or too weak, if you are a student of the series you know there is always a counter to any given weapon system. If I had one complaint, it's that you can't create a squad of more than 4 people so it's trickier to get a crowd of people all in one game, but the addition of server browsing helps a lot and is a welcome addition that was heretofore exclusive to the PC crowd. The maps are big and well designed, the lone exception being Operation Metro which is just too narrow. Battlelog, which is the free equivalent of Call of Duty Elite, gives you comprehensive stat tracking and gives players social features like the ability to form platoons and post in forums. I would have like to have seen this integrated into the console software as it's only accessible from your PC, but if they had done it, you might not have had features like the forums since it can't be done on console for technical reasons. You do have access to some stats right from the console, but if you want to go really in-depth, log into Battlelog, it's FREE. If you preordered the game, DICE was kind enough to give you the first map pack and a selection of weapons for FREE, that's four maps, and four weapons, for FREE! I don't see Call of Duty doing anything like that, EVER. Speaking of which, the community of Battlefield is much more mature as the game really encourages teamwork so you have very little lone wolf BS that you get in Call of Duty. You have to work together; teams that don't lose, period. I'm about 2 hours into the campaign and so far it has been very good but a little derivative of Black Ops with the flashbacks but let's be honest here, people play Battlefield for the multiplayer. That's where it's at. That's the reason why Battlefield players are so loyal. That's the reason why the game is played long after the 6 hour campaign is over. I have over 500 hours logged in Bad Company 2, and this game will be no exception. So, even though we don't get the whole enchilada that PC players do because of our aging console tech, it's still one hell of a game and not to be missed. This gets my vote for shooter of the year and possibly Game of the Year(don't forget, Skyrim has yet to release;). Thank you DICE for putting together a truly stunning game. You guys never fail to disappoint. Now get to work on Battlefield 4 for the next generation...this one will keep me busy for the next 2-3 years easily! Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This game's campaign, I must admit, isn't all that great. It is heavily scripted, to the point where it assumes your just going to do what the game wants you to do, without telling you to do it. I was supposed to follow some guy called Matkovic when attacked by Russians, to cover that area, so, ofcourse, I go to him and start shooting, immediately afterwards I get a headshot to the face, whilst in cover... from straight in front of me. So I decided to try and go against what the game wanted me to do, and it was piss easy, just picked em off as they came running. The problem is, when your playing it, many times you are forced to do exactly what the game wants you to do, if you do anything else, you die. More often than not, it doesn't explain what you ARE SUPPOSED to do either, another time I was to escape with a guy carrying a bad guy on his back, in addition to "support the marines outside the building". Now, I am inside this building, and what I am actually supposed to do is sit in my little corner and snipe all the soldiers trying to go out, until my partner has the bad guy in the chopper. There are quite a few of these incidents and it is deadly frustrating, I almost smashed my screen last night whilst playing because I got so frustrated with the game.

That said, there are moments that are very good, also in the campaign. Thunder Run is a pretty cool mission, albeit a rather standard rail shooter experience. This would be okay, and actually awesome, were it not for the fact that this game consists of rail shooting and corridor shooting, only. It gets tedious. The campaign then, wouldn't really be worth the 50â

If you want a gaming challenge with variety, then you really shouldn't be playing single player. I'm not sure what people expected from a single player? BF1942 had a single player that was essentially just multiplayer with bots, and to be honest, I prefer BF3's single player. Multiplayer is better with human opponents, not bots!
The single player format is quite unoriginal - it is a formula perfected by COD, but there are some original bits in it, e.g. the jet mission. Aside from that, my other criticism of SP is that some of the voice acting is a bit dull. Its mindless fun though, and a good place for some light fun before you get into the meat of the game, which is and always was obviously going to be multiplayer. (if you are allocating more than 10% of your score to the singleplayer, the you are really doing it wrong and have no idea about battlefield games).

MP needs little comment it is brilliant. Some of the maps are a bit chokepoint-ish and COD-like, which many battlefield-fans won't like. However, there are still big maps, and the back to kharkand expansion coming, so I see it as providing variety, and its great that there are different options.

A lot of people don't like battlelog, I personally really like it. It is easy to use, can access it from anywhere, and it is obviously going to be easier for EA/Dice to update it than an in-game menu. This is easy to understand, surely? If you are at all familiar with the interface issues on launch for BC2 and BF2, and many, many other games, then you should be happy with battlelog, and how (relatively) smooth it is working. The stats management is great, the social features to encourage friendly competition with your friends are great, and despite that silly destructoid review, IT REALLY ISNT THAT HARD to add friends and do everything you need to do in battlelog. Given it is new and is easy to tailor/modify, I'm really impressed by it. I'd much rather go through battlelog than have to endure the same intro/loading sequence (nvidia! intel inside! EAgames! Challenge everything! etc) in-game menu and music every time I want to play the game.

There are plenty of bugs on release - which sadly, is what we all typically expect for most new release games these days, with only a few exceptions. However, the only significant bug for me is server lag on big maps, which didn't occur in the beta, so I'm assuming it will be fixed reasonably quickly.

The most successful of the game SAYS: excellent technical sector, as the sound. Excellent gameplay and 64 provide a wide players fun. Only the short single player can affect the final evaluation of the game, which would be better to just evaluating the multiplayer. But we are talking about Battlefield, a game that is based on the experience online. FANTASTIC!

Never in all my 30 years of gaming has an experience such as this been available - sure the previous Battlefield iterations have come close but clearly progression has resulted in perfection. The singleplayer campaign mode, an obvious "hey we can do this" feature is not something you buy this title for - I can guarantee you that nobody who bought this game bought it with the singleplayer in mind. People know what the Battlefield series is about, it sells itself. Consider the campaign as a bonus feature. And yes it has nothing on, for example, COD's epic movie-style gameplay. But if that's how you're thinking about this game, you're thinking about it all wrong.

The real meat in BF3 lies in the multiplayer, and any human being who enjoys a competitive fps will dig this game.

You can drop dead in milliseconds and in some pretty unjust fashions, so watching where your teammates die and working with them to cover all sectors is vital to living relatively securely. If you do manage to have some cover in the midst of a conflict, the combat can get pretty intense and prolonged, explosions happen everywhere, bullets fly non-stop, and these moments make my day. The game really encourages saturating the enemy with bullets, which is fun. Who doesn't like shooting non-stop? The immersion is pretty fantastic if you ignore some movement and visual glitches that happen every so often. It runs well on my year old $600 computer, the sound is great, if not a little cacophonous. The teamplay is heart warming when it works, and being on top of the team by being the best team player is very rewarding. Think critically about helping your team, expect death at every corner, and you may take this game from a cool experience to a fun game.

I played on High graphics, and when you saw the graphics from a distance, the game looked fantastic. Of course, the closer you got to graphics, it didn't look as wonderful as you may have thought. Frostbite 2 is great but with it's flaws. Some of the textures disappear right in front of your eyes, characters walk through walls, and I can't believe there's no splash when you walk on water. Literally, the characters look like Jesus just walking on water without a splash. Frostbite 2 is great, but buggy. The SP is rather short. I begun at like 1pm and finished at 9pm the same day (of course I spent 2 hours doing other stuff, so the SP took me about 6 hours). The SP also seemed to have no point to it, as all it had you doing was chasing around meaninglessly for something.

The MP is a lot more fun than Medal of Honors was, but still not perfect. There's only 8 or so maps, which to be honest, a multiplayer game should ship with at least 12 (I know the DLC is coming out soon but that isnt the point). I won't talk about the MP much here but it's decent enough.

First off, I wasn't impressed having to launch my game through a browser. This was mostly because it wouldn't launch. After hours of messing around, I isolated it to Internet Explorer 9. Probably one too many security boxes clicked. I had a gut feeling it was IE9 from previous experiences- the browser gets goofy on some sites. I opened it through Chrome and it worked. It's how I get around all of my IE9 issues.

The game does look good. Enough said there. My GTX 580 SC @ 2560 x 1600 ultra graphics does a pretty good job. It did slow down during intense firefights in multiplayer once so far but to be fair maybe it was lag (gf was watching Netflix).

I only touched the Single Player Campaign to get a feel of the game before having my ass handed to me online. From what I've played so far, the storyline is a FILE ---> SAVE AS from Black Ops.

Now the reasons for the low score. I gave it enough to keep it positive because I don't feel it deserves anything less. This is all multi-player related.

My biggest issue is the size of the maps. Even with 64 players, it's still too big. Too much area to cover, too much running. I thought I was playing ARMA for a minute. It's also a sniper's wet dream. Playing COD, I hated any open map because of the snipers. Some open area is fine. There is too much open area here. I loved a lot of the COD maps. Plenty of buildings for cover and ambush, escape from attack, track down campers and safely eliminate them, whatever. The best part was sneaking around and knifing snipers/campers/anyone really. If I start taking fire in BF3 going cover to cover, which is like a 20+ second sprint, don't bother. Respawn, start from the beginning and run another marathon across the map to where the action is.

This point is simple- you can't run over enemies with vehicles. I tried and looked stupid. I saw someone kill a teammate. Driving a vehicle at the time I was like hey, let's run this mofo over. Nope. Slammed into a wall and as I was trying to reverse and take off, buddy shot me dead. Went right through him. I even think he was surprised. Next point, COD wins for class customization. I loved building my character classes and choosing different ones depending on the job that needed to get done. Also, it doesn't appear BF3 has the options COD has (weapons, attachments, secondary weapons, perks, camo, etc.). You get some stuff here and there, but it seems limited. This isn't for sure, just how it looks at the moment. I like customization/options. Simple as that. BF3 may come through and surprise me- fingers crossed.

BF3 is a much different game than COD. I do need to play it more to really appreciate it all. For me, the huge map thing might be what kills it for me. If I get picked off by snipers regularly in these opens maps, this game won't get touched again. For now, I will keep playing it and seeing how things go for me. For anyone still waiting to buy this game, I'd wait until after Modern Warfare 3 launches. The game might not be as pretty but if the multiplayer is better, who cares? I know I don't.

The storyline is so cliché that In the middle of the game I've already knew how the storyline will end. There is a number of bags and glitches.
Also I found the singelplayer very linear, You cant go to a random vehicle and speaking of witch there is barely missions that include vehicles but the big thing that I was disappointed is exploration, sure this is after all a Third person shooter however I wish Dice had let us to explore this amazing game wich brings me to another thing. The good thing that everybody and I mean EVERYBODY WILL AGREE (even the call of duy fans) is that the graphcis are the best we seen so far (yes even better than crysis 2 and rage).
another thing to say is that the sound of this game is stunning, Any gun fire, massive explosions and bullets that past your head sounds and almust feels like the real thing wich is give that realistic feel that you're going to a real war. As I say from the start the real deal is the multiplayer wich is by far the best multiplayer you can find on the market and heres 5 reasons why: 1.Exploration- Unlike the singelplayer you can explore alot of stuff in battlefield 3 multiplayer wich is a big suprise, Exploration can help you for your strategy and sometimes its just fun to find some weird easter egg.

2.Background- There is nothing like seen a burning city at night when everybody just shooting at each other or seen a deserts, water, trees and anything that mother nature created, also the lighting of this game looks like the real thing.

3.Diffrent ways to play- In battlefield 3 you dont have to be a pro or even average player to win points on this game for example lets just say you are not a great shooter player and you choose the medic, you can use the medic kit and help people that have low health or even revive your teammates.

4.Strategy- Battlefield 3 us the latest frostbite version wich is mean that wells, windowns and even buildings can break or even fall down so you need to think fast wich making the game more strategic, Now you cant camp for about a hour you need to keep moving and bulid a strategy while playing the game. this game really test your skills and even your brain.

    5. Spawns- The special thing about spawning in battlefield 3 is that you can spawn at your group that you join in the game, the material makes it much more fun but be careful if your team is in no win situation dont spawn and kill yourself, also if you find a jet, tank or any vehicle you can spawn on the base. Bottom line + The best Multiplayer you can ever ask + amazing grapchis +Sound -Camping -Storyline

While BFBC2 had only big, urban maps, BF 3 has a variety of them. Purely urban, purely rural, miyed, etc. This time map design is not like "hill, hill, tree, house, tree", which is a really positive thing for me. The co-op campaign is fun to play, however it could have been a bit longer, and sometimes it lacks creativity, but anyways, it's fun if you have a skilled friend to play with. The singleplayer also changed since BC2, it's linear, and scripted, similar to the CoD games. If you like, CoD-style SP, then you probably will enjoy the ~5-6 hours of it. I was a bit disappointed though, i expected a much deeper and character-based storyline. Don't get me wrong, i liked it, and BTW it has a story on par with the Modern Warfare games' SP, but for comparison, Black Ops had a much better and deeper story.

So my final verdict on this game: it totally worth its money, you are gonna have TONS of fun playing the multiplayer (if you are not afraid of playing games that require actual skill). It is the perfect shooter for me, so i give it a 10/10.

Something I'd like to mention is the insane amount of XP needed to unlock the weapons and attachments in multiplayer. It's pretty crazy. You get an average of maybe 3k experience in one round, and some of the better unlocks require 200k just for a single unlock. Additionally, some guns can only be unlocked by gaining experience through co op missions. There are only 7 co op missions, and to do these each 3 or 4 times to unlock a single gun gets old really fast. Another issue is the fact that lower level guns and equipment sucks. Higher level guns are just way better than the ones you start out with. This makes it difficult to get started in the game, as you'll be constantly wiped out as you try to beat someone with a gun that's twice as good as yours. However, once you've played maybe 5 hours of multiplayer you'll have plenty of good enough weapons to hang with the top players (if you're good enough). I'd also like to mention destructibility and suppression. They add a whole lot to the game. Being under fire by a tank and suppressing fire as chips of concrete fly and walls crumble around you is a thrilling and frightening experience, one unique to Battlefield. Destroying a wall with an RPG and then rushing the defenders inside and wiping out a whole squad is exhilarating. It's moments like these that truly make this game so much fun.
Overall, the game is very well done. It really is a lot of fun and I enjoy the multiplayer a whole lot. Don't play this game a couple hours then give up. Stick with it, and I promise you'll end up enjoying one of (if not the) best first person shooter game on the market.

I want a game to give me realistic game-play... and DICE was able to give me that on multiplayer mode. You feel like in a real battlefield. The sound is just amazing, the graphics I don't even need to speak about. The game isn't just about running toward your enemy firing anything that moves like in BC2. Now you need to think your strategy in order to get the best for your team and squad. Battlefield requires you to work as a team and with strategy. That's my kind of game.

Disappointing and falsely advertised. Typical EA.
Most features which DICE talked about aren't even in the game.
A huge step backwards from Battlefield 2 in every way.

Origin is a bit of nuisance but I've decided to rate the game and not the software. Anyway, my first impressions of BF3's multiplayer were good; the weapons feel much tighter than Bad Company 2 and the graphics are technically superb on ultra settings. I will also give credit to DICE for making a game which actually feels at home on the PC with optimised graphics and intuitive controls. Now to the negatives; despite the technical side of the graphics, they still carry that current-generation problem of being incredibly dull and colourless; I understand perhaps horror games might need it but games like Battlefield just don't benefit from it because everyone looks indistinguishable from one another against murky backgrounds. There's another thing, why are most of the environments either desert industrial or urban? Bad Company 2's lurid jungles were way more visually appealing than BF3's dull maps. Frostbite 2 might shine, but graphics will never be able to carry a game, I don't care how advanced your volumetric lighting is, the game should still be able to stand up without good graphics. All these problems would normally be quite small, but there is one massive problem I have with this game that just ended it for me; health amount. It may be acceptable in games like DayZ and ARMA that you die easily since they're both realistic simulations; but BF3 is not that sort of game. You can take about three hits before dying, making smaller fights not really a matter of who has the best aiming and skill as it is whoever spotted the other first. I'm sure BF3 will suit players who somehow like low HP and dull, samey maps, but for me Battlefield 3 was probably the most disappointing game of 2011. Expand

The multiplayer still has bugs that were present in the beta (ex. flashing colours on screen and if you lie down in a corner the opposing team may be able to see your leg through the wall and kill you). Also i don't really like the fact that you are basically useless in jets and helicopters until you unlock the flares and laser guided bombs. Other than that its a pretty awesome game in terms of graphics and gameplay. Expand

The single player is short and kinda bad (cinematics aside - those are seriously well done) - but the Multiplayer is where the game is at. Its great. The graphics and more importantly the sound are excellent also.

Battlefield 3 is an excellent entry to a series that now aims to be big even on consoles. Battlefield has always been known for being an amazing multiplayer title in the PC, so EA is trying to expand the horizons of their saga. You can feel the evolution in gameplay between this and the previous Bad Company 2, as well as what probably is the best looking game in the market. Would have given this game a 9, because gameplay wise, it's excellent. I know it's not what a lot of people were expecting, a return to the slower BF2 style gameplay, it's still leaning more towards BC2's gameplay, and that has disappointed some people. Still, It's a blast to play. What really brings it down is Origin and Battlelog. Now, Origin, well I just prefer Steam, and I don't want to have games split between 2 clients. That and it's questionable TOS and EULA, and though they've revised both, the damage was done. All in all, excellent game, crappy system. Expand

Battlefield 3 is a multiplayer game with a single player add on. That said the single player can still compete with others in its class like Modern Warfare 3. However the multiplayer is just unbeatable. Just like Uncharted's single player is unbeatable and its multiplayer is on par with others.

This game is the greatest game ever, it has epic graphics and awsome gameplay, it is realistic in that maps are small and have different pros and cons depending on your spawn point and that there is alot of people in each team (unless in a different game mode). The best engine for today with an excellent light system, which make the graphic and environment look fantastic. Singleplayer is excellent as for me, cause DICE showed us a typical war, when everyone expected an imposible hardcore war like in CoD. It's impossible to say how multiplayer is great. 10/10

It's all a matter of taste, after all. They each provide a certain type of entertainment – when talking about Battlefield 3, it involves a bigger game, more open in its possibilities and more spectacular. But on a longer timeline, less frantic and with fewer Bruce Willis scenes than the mass appeal beast it set itself to dethrone.

No, Battlefield 3 is not the best game of today. But good looking – definitely. It also has an absolutely addictive multiplayer. Who needs more? [Dec 2011]

Both a triumphant leap forward and a return to form for the Battlefield series. This is the best multiplayer shooter on PC. [Christmas 2011, p.58]
