Cause DICE has potential and didn't fix as many bugs as possible, but I know that it's possible for them and that the game will be playable after half a year or so. However, the team at DICE recognized the value of public opinion and immediately patched the game upon release and is still continuing to do so. The actual graphics are quite unrivalled and the technology in the Frostbite 2 engine literally makes you jump when a bullet goes flying past your head. The technology and animations are much more fluent and realistic. Still a couple of early release bugs but with them soon to be ironed out, Battlefield 3 is a serious challenger to the FPS genre and says to competitors, "Your move".

BF3 has the better online system with dedicated servers and a max of 64 players is huge (go try a 6vs6 on MW3 with peer to peer and compare the difference)
With a decent rig turn up the graphics options and prepare to have your eyes bleed it looks that good.

Battlefield 3 does with Battlefield does best, the multiplayer. The single player looked nice, and was fun, but that was about it. The Multi is where it's at despite lack of commanders from the previous battlefield games.

A fresh face to turn to when sick of the COD shenanigans. The new Crysis. Breakthrough graphics which will be a benchmark for years to come, with solid gameplay, a pretty lame storyline, but meaty, fun multiplayer.

Now, unfortunately the single player is pretty dull and heavily scripted and is very linear, but the Battlefield franchise has always been about multiplayer, and this game definitely delivers on that front. Some hardcore Battlefield 2 fanboys are upset about changes from that game into Battlefield 3, but in all honesty this game looks amazing and feels amazing. Only downside is battlelog and the long load times. If there was no battlelog I would give this game a perfect score.

Graphics wise no other First person shooter even comes close and for a game where it feels like skill is needed rather than just run and gun again nothing comes close. Having now played MW3 I can honestly say that battlefield 3 has out done it sure there are more maps in mw3 but you can probably fit 3 or 4 mw3 maps in one bf3 map. Add to that more realistic or at least great sounding weapons might not be realistic as I have never fired one but sure do sound good, vehicles you control not the AI and a genuine team play orientated scoring system and battlefield is more the thinking man's fps. All that said BF3 is as far away from being MW3 as MW3 is from being BF3 they are completely different games for team play and vehicles choose bf3 for Rambo style run and gun hands down mw3 wins.

I gave it a 9 simply because at this point in time there are some issues most of which don't really have a huge effect on me but there still there and while I like Battlelog it could do with improvement.

I'm of the opinion that this should have been called Bad Company 3. This is not to say its not a great game, it's just not Battlefield without a commander IMHO. The irony is not lost on me that the Box art resembles BC2. Makes me think that the BF moniker was a marketing afterthought.

Had EA/DICE included a battlefield commander, the game would earn a 10/10, easily. As it stand, this is the only glaring omission in an otherwise epic game.

I cant really call myself a cod fan-boy but i am definitely a big fan of the series. Between spending endless hours on youtube and gaming websites, the flaming wars between Cod and bf fanboys caught my attention and it made me wonder what made battlefield so good to be compared to a giant like cod.
Now,I have never played any of the previous battlefield games. I have played 5 minutes of the Bad Company 2 campaign on the PC and the Bad Company demo on the xbox 360. "pssht.. this sucks compared to cod" i said , and never looked back. Until now, Battlefield 3 Beta was doing its rounds when i got a first hand look at what battlefield multiplayer was like. I downloaded the beta and entered the game. Heavily overwhelmed by the sheer size of the maps and the game graphics i was like "oh cool". I ran a few steps and was immediately killed. *rage quit* . A day later i decided to give it another shot, promising myself i wouldn't rage quit. This time i moved around a little bit and very soon it came to my realisation that i was playing this game like i play cod. That was not working, It was difficult to spot enemies and i died before i could do anything else. I couldnt tell the difference between an enemy soldier and my own team-mates .Every kill felt like a reward, even though i ended up killing more of my own troops. I did not play again, till the game was released.
As battlefield 3 released i did not give it much thought because i eagerly waited for the the release of modern warfare 3. On 10th of November i decided that i am going to buy one of the two. Battlefield 3? or modern warfare 3? Here in India , Modern Warfare 3 costs twice of what i paid for battlefield 3 so it kind of helped my decision .i took the leap of faith and I hesitantly bought battlefield 3 . I had bad experiences with this game in the past and i strongly felt it wasn't my kind of game. So before jumping into the multiplayer world i started the campaign. It didn't take me long to finish the game by the end of the campaign i was said to myself "ho-hum Great looking game but quite a weak directive on the story" . And here is where it all got better, I wasn't expecting a whole lot Indian players to be online but i knew i would get fairly decent pings on other asian servers, but i was surprised that every server hosted in India was full and the ping never rose above 30. I jumped into the multiplayer and found it surprisingly easy to spot enemies , use my guns, and overall move around the place.
It became clear that the campaign for battlefield 3 is nothing but an extended tutorial to get used to the game. My brother and me were at the game for hours. The more we ranked and unlocked equipment the deeper into the game we got , everything that was wierd at first began to make sense and fianally i knew how it feels to play a battlefield game....'Awesome". The Graphics simply blew me away. I assembled a high end PC (complete with a GTX 580) and to be honest this is the best looking first person shooter i have ever seen.
the audio and sfx blend in perfectly with the game. The Environment is beautiful and the fact that you can blow up just about anything you see in game is the icing.
But, these are the not the factors that define a good game. Tons of games look and sound great but the key ingredient is the gameplay and Battlefield 3 has loads of it. The team-based gameplay is something new to me and i am thoroughly enjoying it. Watching buildings collapse, seeing your teammates running through the crossfire to revive team-mates or seeing an engineer hard at work at fixing the tank taking heavy fire from the opposition while helicopter and jets scream past overhead amidst the smoke caused by the falling debris really makes you feel like you are part of something big.
Battlefield 3 has been made to take the crown of war based gameplay from call of duty. With the release of modern warfare 3 on its ageing engine and its tried and tested linear twitched based gameplay , Gamers will feel cheated and move on to a new avenue looking for and upgraded mature gameplay eventually migrating to the battlefield camp. Dice has managed to not only surpass but dominate as a better game be it visually or gameplay-wise.
I give this game a 9/10 because dice has made a real winner i take away one point for its campaign which could have been a lot better.I predict this game to be the next counterstrike with a similar cult following.

The improved engine this game runs on is amazing. If your PC can handle it, this game is beautiful. I don't think there's anything else out with graphics as good as this. The multiplayer is spectacular (and I'm not huge on multiplayer). Much better experience than consoles. The buggy Origin authentication requiring a patch called Punk Buster was a big turn off. SINGLE PLAYER:
The campaign is the first step by DICE to tell a serious campaign, ignoring the comical adventures from Bad Company it goes for the dark and gritty tones which is helped from the new Frostbite engine which gives some of the best graphics I have ever seen. The campaign takes from Black Ops the CIA interrogating a soldier and the nuclear threat from Modern Warfare and comes out, unoriginal but very fun while it lasts. I had a few moments where I verbally out loud said "Oh **** when a scripted event happened, one moment involves a Russian Jet Fighter taking strafing runs at your squad as you run from cover to cover trying to predict its path. This excitement I got out of the game is helped from the incredible sound which, with a surround sound system engulfs you in the action. The game has many quick time events, which only involve very few keys which seem to be so easy your just pressing the key to make the game know your its **** You drive very few vehicles in this single player which is disappointing since there are no tutorials on how to fly choppers and jets, leaving most people to jump into the multiplayer only to crash into the ground immediately. Id give the campaign a 7, due to some exciting set pieces that really got me involved.

    MULTIPLAYER:
Battlefield is a multiplayer game, and this is wear it really gets going. Multiplayer matches are large, frantic and fun. There are no campers hiding by objectives due to the balance of spotting, destructible environments and Vehicles leveling out the battlefield and keeping things even allowing snipers who sit on the hills surrounding some maps to have to keep mobile not to get caught. This doesn't mean it comes with out frustration, when you make a class, you have the option of attaching sights and other things to your weapon, only for it to be erased when you change teams and also, a poor map and intrusive chat log clog the screen, but these are nagging issues easily tackled with a update or two. I found the battles epic, sounding amazing (with myself ducking when a rocket came whizzing past my players head) and looking amazing too. The maps are great with a good variation to the large deserts of Operation Firestorm to the Basejumping of one map. Yes, base jumping in multiplayer. I will give the multiplayer a 9 with me having the most fun I have ever had in a shooter online.

SP maybe isn't that good, but MP just pwns!
From flying jets, helicopters, tanks, jeeps, to brutal strategy fighting, thinking, captioning points, rushing, unlocking all the stuff you can, just amazingly brings you back into game for more and more and more!
Also, upcoming DLC - Back To Karkand, will show us what really Battlefield is!
Big maps, enchanced destructions, new weapons, vehicles, just in the style of DICE!
Also, on DRMB's podcast, someone mentioned that would be nice if DICE make an BF3 - WW2, so to see a World War in the Frostbite 2 look, and maybe, who knows we see the expansion for it!
From now on, as DICE said, Frostbite 2, and BF3 which uses it's engine, which is so big and powerful, we can expect just everything!
Maybe there aren't mods from third party devs, but who knows, when people get better PCs, and DICE realize that it's time to give developers a mod making availability, this game will pwn even more!

So, I'll talk more about MP style and feeling:

CONQUEST MODE: PTFO, PTFO and PTFO! Help your team, help your squad, learn new routes, stick with squad/team, or go with your squad to capture the point, but be prepared for EVERYTHING!
    Use vehicles! Destroy vehicles!
Try every weapon, unlock all of the weapon upgrades of weapon you really like! ;)
Play the class that suits best for you, and you really like it!
If you are unlocking, and getting used to the class, CONQUEST is maybe a good choice, cuz everything is in CONQUEST, from RUSH, TDM to learning strategy and how to work as a player of that class!
If you are n00b at some class, stick with the team/squad, and assist them!
If you are medic, REVIVE them, no matter what! Yeah yeah, somebody will say DRMB, but, you got points for every revive, but still, be sure not to revive dead soldier, and to be dead again

    RUSH:
    Fast, brutal fight!
FFS! if not PTFO, you lost
Don't go for your damn K/D, K/D doesn't matter at all! Only if you are defending!
PTFO, if your's M-COM is armed, DISARM it! :)

Using of weapons and attachments in RUSH:
maybe some of you already know that tac-light is kinda OP in BF3 (getting nerf in upcoming patch), so in some situations is very good, but be sure to not show your position to the enemy with it... Same with the laser attachment!
    Use supressor! :)
Use IRNV! This attachment is just like AIMBOT from DICE :D M416/SCAR-H/M249 or any other accuracy good weapon + IRNV + SUPRESSOR + AMMO = pWNS!

    TDM:
For someone yei, for someone nei...
But, if you like 1 on 1 fight, or 1 vs 32, or 32 vs 32, or just aggressive, adrenaline fight, with many spawn camps, spawning behind you, or spawning in front of your enemy, and such, go for it! :D
Must say, it's fun to play, it's OK for weapon unlocking, and to test all weapon, gadget, attachment combinations! Try it out!

    Conclusion:

    PROs:
    - awesome graphics and audio, which is almost as real as you are there (must have 5.1, 7.1 set!), sound of bullets (every bullet sounds different, depending on weapon, gadget, supressor...), explosions, walking, running, flying jets, just EVERYTHING!
    - ranks, and all is about unlocks, which will just say to you COME BACK, I need to unlock more, what's coming next, oh, must play it!
    - TEAMPLAY! - yeah, this game (compairing to CoD) is really teamplay/squad oriented, if you don't play as a team, or you don't take objectives with your whole team, you just LOST! So, help your TEAM! ;)
    - Prone! Added again, from BF2, very startegically, and maybe someone will say it's a camping thing, but it isn't, when someone see's you, you are dead, no matter what... But still, prone is awesome for taking objectives, for hiding, also be sure to check prone enemy with some bullets to see is it dead, or prone :D
    - Vehicles, jet flying is so amazing, and so realistic, that everyone want to fly jets! Unlocking stuff for jets adds the another lvl to this game, which will set you for hours and hours in the **** trying to destroy enemy jets, helicopters, tanks and such!
    - Classes! Different from BFBC2, but, very nicely done!
    - Bullet drop!
    - Health regen.
    - Hardcore mode
    - You must buy this game! ;)

    CONs:
    - Battlelog bugs, but still, guys from DICE are working on it every single day! - Some ingame things, like spawns, tac-light, OP weapons, but that's still being updated - For new players, it'll be hard to start, and for CoD player (they'll just die) xD j/k - and maybe a PC optimization, but still, this game needs some of PC juice, and that's normal! Cya on BattleField! ;)

I was so happy to see the first teaser I nearly exploded with joy and as time moved on I only got more excited with each new trailer showing off the lovely Frostbite 2 engine this game would be made on. It all looked so promising, but soon my "fanboyism" was put aside to look at this logically.

Having gone through DICE game launches before I knew it was bond to go bad cause a game like this, with a brand new engine, is bond to have a few bugs. Well with the launch of the Beta i got a some taste of the game. I was happy to a point when the game actually managed to damage my CPU. Needless to say I was shocked, but it was easily looked over as I was already looking into replacements before the beta.

The Beta Game itself was broken, bugged, and for the most part a Beta. The main idea of it was to stress test the servers that would be used on PC. This I understood well and looked over many issues while still pointing them out so they would get sorted before release.

Release Day. My Computer ready with shiny new parts, an upgrade to the OS, and the game installed. So far not bad. Origin annoyed me a little, but I wanted to get to the game so I looked past it for the time being. I clicked on the exe and....Firefox opened to BattleLog. OK not a total surprise I pretty much expected it to do that after playing the Beta. I set up my profile, find a few old friends, join my platoon, and then straight to the server browser. Sadly however that was also still on BattleLog. This is getting annoying. I was hoping for an in-game browser, but oh well.

After getting in game I notice right away the difference between Retail and Beta. The game is beautiful! Even on the lowest possible setting. Gameplay was smooth, the weapons looked awesome, and acted like I'd expect them to. The map Caspian Border is such an awesome place and looks to have that classic Battlefield feel......to a point.

Like most maps in this game I've played on(all of them) it's flag points for Conquest(which for most BF2 vets is the go-to game mode) are WAY to close to each other. Getting to each one is nothing more then a hope, skip, and really that's it. No jump. Although I loved the map I was kind of sadden to see this. I was hoping for a classic BF feel in the maps. If I needed to get from point to point in BF2 I needed a Jeep, Tank, or Chopper to get me there as fast as possible. In BF3 I can sprite there just fine, no need to waste the chopper on transport I'm fine on foot.

After a few matches I went back to BattleLog to see how the state tracking is. So far it hasn't given me a single problem. I love that I don't have to go search for a random 3rd party site to see my states out-of-game. BattleLog itself isn't a bad idea. I like having the forums, stats, friends list, and the Battle Feed which shows off how good my friends are.

I however don't like that I'm forced to launch the game through BattleLog. I'm not happy with this being the "Future of Gaming" when an In-game menu is something all games should have. Gimmicks like this are what makes or breaks the game for some people. It also doesn't help that we also need Origin to play even when it doesn't nothing for the game. Origin and BattleLog don't even work together. Its a waste of space on my computer and just flat out annoying.

ON top of these things the game itself is still bugged in a few ways. Not all issues from the Beta were completely fixed or removed. The in-game Chat Box is too big, The Tactical Flash Light is as bright or brighter then the sun, and I still can check my ping while in-game which for an OCD ping checker like me is very VERY annoying.

In closing I'd like to say that despite the problems, and annoyances. The game is fun. I can't say if it's a complete Battlefield game or not, but I can say I will most likely be enjoying this game for a long time. Sooner or later a Patch or two will hit and like with all other Battlefield before. Problems will be fixed. I trust DICE that much at least.

Having pre-ordered it I was so excited to have gotten it and play right away. I can say that it has blown me away with how good it is. The large environments (however not as large as bf2) are great to look at and drive/fly around. There are many modes to play which helps you depending on what kind of game you feel like playing at the time. The destructible environment adds a lot to the game. it makes you feel more scared knowing that tank you ran by could just blow up the small wall you ran behind for cover. It adds a lot more depth to each game because the environment can change on the fly and so you must constantly be able to adapt. The game is nearly perfect however there are some small flaws.

The only reason I'm not giving it a 10 out of 10 is because of 3 small things. First of all is that the controls for helicopters and planes have been simplified. This makes them so much easier to fly for all the novices however it takes away from all the stunts and tricks you could do previously if you had enough experience. Second of all is the campaign which is more like an extended tutorial and guide to the game mechanics however since it's there I wish it could be slightly better. Third of all which is the bugs. Personally I haven't had any real bugs pop up on me that prevent me from playing and most of the bugs appear to be getting or have gotten fixed. However some people still occasionally get bugs so be aware of that if you play. Although like every game bugs will disappear as they are fixed just like every other game.

The vehicles are a refreshing thing to have, not really my thing, but they work well.

I think my favorite part of the game are the weapons themselves. Every weapon, all the way down to the pistols, feel very weighty and realistic - they are just fun to shoot. This mostly has to do with the sound design. The sound is incredible, you have never heard anything as realistic as this. Everything from shooting your gun, to the vehicles, to shots being fired in the distance, to explosions and falling debris... the sound will blow you away.

At first, I thought limiting the consoles to 24 players instead of the PC's 64 was going to be a big deal. But, it's not, it still feels like a large battle. If you want a big, immersing, slower-paced, semi-realistic FPS, go for BF3.

It has its flaws. I don't like EAs ethics, DLCs, and the single player is pretty bad, but ultimately I have over 200 hours of playtime and I keep going back to the game. I truly believe there should have been a "mushroom cloud" shown in the Paris explosion. But as all of us know, multiplayer is where its at for Battlefield and it has one of the best large scale team based gameplay out there.

The graphics are gorgeous, but a little contrasty to my taste. I find it really hard to pick people out of the shadows. It's like it's 12:00 at the equator every match - the flare from the sun is intense and the shadows are hard. I think DICE is trying to show off their lighting engine a bit too much - sometimes less is more! The game needs some TLC - managing squads is more cumbersome than it needs to be, the minimap is worse than BF2, the servers are still crashing a lot, there are no reserved slots, etc. But I am confident that with time, DICE will refine this into the best FPS to date.

With that said, I was hoping they would put a little more attention into the interior of buildings, we get the same empty rooms that were prevalent in bfbc2.

Sound - Indescribable until you hear it. Explosions have the ummph you expect them to, bullets passing by you crack like a whip, and vehicles sound like big machines of destruction! Hands down one of the best features of the game.

Gameplay - Gameplay is engaging, one of my biggest issues with gameplay is on the larger maps you will sometimes find yourself having to hoof it to get to the action because **** with the vehicles don't wait for passengers.

Never has battlefield put this much love into ambiance in a game. The sound effects alone immerse the player in the events around you. Every bullet whizzes, every explosion rocks your senses. The textures are phenominal even on my modest system (running core 2 due, and 2 8800 GTs 586 cards in SLI). Lighting is spectacular with glare from the sun adding a realism to the environment. The unlock and leveling system keeps you engaged and you feel like you accomplish something every time you play. Vehicles are fun and relatively balanced with Jets being somewhat out of place at times. Weapons fairly recoil realistically and take more skill, feel like they have weight to them, and sound amazing unlike the point and click use of weapons in MW2 and COD BO where weapons sounded like toy guns. The negative: ORIGIN. I'm on the fence about battlelog. There could have been more variety in unlocks on weapons instead of unlocking the multitude of scopes for each weapon. Some matches can be very one sided which make playing not so fun at times, no one likes being steam rolled. No choice in the squads you join, no character customization, no commander like in Battlefield 2. The destructible environments are lacking and was not delivered to the degree of Bad Company 2. The huge scale is just stellar when compared to MW3, and the vehicles and destructible environment are the cream on top. The game modes are all fun, but Conquest and Rush stand out from the rut that is TDM and FFA that most games fall into. BF has been one of the few game series that successfully broke that mold.

There are a few glitches (engi exploit, and some hacks), which are soon to be patched, and some annoying things (flashlights, IRNV) which are also rumored to be being "fixed". Overall though, this game just works, and works well. Also, the web interface, profile, and stat tracker work almost flawlessly, which MW3's Elite does not even come close to doing.

This game succeeds in every way that MW3 fails and does better most of what MW3 does well. Unless you want to play TDM, BF3 is where it's at.

I don't see why ppl don't like single player I'm up to the tank lvl after the jets one and I like it.. Time to own you guys on multiplayer now, see you in the battlefield!

First off I want to state I didn't buy this game for the single player and from what I read you shouldn't. However, multiplayer is far from lackluster. Amazing graphics and sounds. A game that stresses team work and strategy rather than the same old CoD run and gunning it has turned into with MW3. This game puts you in a real battlefield and you leave wanting more.

New engine with superb graphics, sound, textures, etc. The campaign is something average, but worth playing through since you get a taste of new Frostbite 2 engine, however the multiplayer is where BF3 shines. Squad based gameplay is one of my favorite aspects of this particular genre and BF3 delivers on this. Also progressive based gameplay or rush as it is called in bf3 also adds to the challenge. If you are looking for the fast paced aracade FPS games then you are better off playing COD on a console. While it suffers from graphical glitches and the use of Battlelog, it still provides enough to be considered one of the best games this year. The singleplayer is clearly not the main event here, but it isn't as bad as many other reviewers say. It's far more realistic than Call of Duty, but it does not provide anything groundbreaking. That's fine though, as there really isn't much you can do to innovate a military shooter's campaign than to make it more realistic in terms of AI, environmental effects, and character physics. It's silly, because certain games dubbed "single player only games" can get away without having multiplayer, so it should only be fair to let multiplayer-based games get away with that too. Including a single player that isn't horrible should be considered a nice addition rather than a piece of garbage. The multiplayer, being the main attraction here, is clearly in a league of its own. The multiplayer features dynamic environments that can completely affect the way you play the game. For example, the sun in your eyes could prevent you from getting a kill, just like in reality, or hiding behind a thin wall may provide dangerous, as it can crumble at the hands of gunfire or explosives, leading to your demise. The weapon customization is moderately deep, which is a huge improvement over anyone who has been playing the Bad Company series. There are plenty of awards and unlocks to keep you coming back for more as well. One of the most appealing features of this game is the realism in the physics. Your gun has recoil (Call of Duty fans should google the definition), you can't just "sprint" up ladders, wind keeps your parachute from descending in a straight line, bright lights can blind you, the list goes on and on. This is a game designed with realism in mind and is not intended for fans of arcade shooters (Halo, Call of Duty, etc). Also, as it should be obviously apparent, the game has the best graphics in the business.

The flaws are certainly not burdensome to the point where the game is ruined, as I gave it a 9, but they do keep it from being a perfect game. Battlelog was clearly an idea that should have never left the drawing board and there are too many graphical glitches that keep the multiplayer experience from being exceptionally sharp. Other than that, Battlefield 3 is a great game and certainly wins the "war" against a non-improving Call of Duty MW3.
