Graphics and multiplayer gameplay are awesome on computer (granted you have a decent pc) The only downside to this game must be the singleplayer where I found the story lacking and maybe a bit plain compared to the singleplayer of COD:MW3. So in short: buy if you are looking for an online multiplayer game

Then I had problems with optimizing the game due to driver issues, bugs, etc. Then I had all sorts of confusion overwhelm me because of poor integration and navigation, jumping from the Origin client, to the Battlelog website, to game. From what I can tell, many others were having these issues too, and were dinging the game reviews because of it. But I held on, and once I got into the game, I really started to enjoy it. Singleplayer still doesn't hold a candle to multiplayer, so at the end of the day, the multiplayer is so good, I kept coming back for more. It's fun switching up the classes, playing different roles, and upgrading your capabilities. Levels are rock solid in design, and the vehicles make battles feel like real warfare. And really, that's all I care about. Good solid fun... even if it was a serious pain to get this that point. Expand

Also, the game is not without it's issues. Server crashes occur from time to time and many times "BF2.exe has stopped working" will appear when you attempt to launch. There are also some in-game issues. Controls for Choppers and Jets need work and binding controls in general is a bit of a hassle. My only issues with the game are really that you can't cook grenades and at times it will spawn you out in the middle of nowhere when the teammate you try to spawn on died in the process. As far as the game itself... It is GORGEOUS. Even on a modest computer just above minimum specs the game is beautiful. This is the new benchmark for visuals. Persistance is way more like BF2 then the Bad Company series. It's going to take you a while to get to rank 50. 100+ hours if you're a good player. The sound is just perfect. It's almost flawless. Maps are nice and big for the most part and I can't wait for Karkand expansion. I highly prefer team based, squad oriented play over the run and gun style of the competition. The co-op maps deserve one go around just to unlock those guns you may want and to see the levels then you shelf those as well. But the multiplayer, oh man the multiplayer; that is where you will spend your BF3 life. 64 player large conquest maps is what makes this game amazing. Dog fights between jets high above you, choppers buzzing the roof or silo you are recon-ing from, and tanks/jeeps/IFVs whizzing past you as your infantry trudge out onto the battlefield; these things will nearly distract you from the fact that you are about to be shot at and you are going to need to find some cover. If you are just playing Public servers and not really communicating with your squad or team then the game will feel a bit sluggish and more like a kill-fest rather than a tactical game. But if you get a group of buddies and actually comm with them then this game takes on a whole new light. Multiplayer has so many unlocks, so many vehicles, and so many things that can happen that you will keep coming back way past hitting max level (which will take you a suspected 400 hours to accomplish in full). As I say from the start the real deal is the multiplayer wich is by far the best multiplayer you can find on the market and heres 5 reasons why: 1.Exploration- Unlike the singelplayer you can explore alot of stuff in battlefield 3 multiplayer wich is a big suprise, Exploration can help you for your strategy and sometimes its just fun to find some weird easter egg.

2.Background- There is nothing like seen a burning city at night when everybody just shooting at each other or seen a deserts, water, trees and anything that mother nature created, also the lighting of this game looks like the real thing.

3.Diffrent ways to play- In battlefield 3 you dont have to be a pro or even average player to win points on this game for example lets just say you are not a great shooter player and you choose the medic, you can use the medic kit and help people that have low health or even revive your teammates.

4.Strategy- Battlefield 3 us the latest frostbite version wich is mean that wells, windowns and even buildings can break or even fall down so you need to think fast wich making the game more strategic, Now you cant camp for about a hour you need to keep moving and bulid a strategy while playing the game. this game really test your skills and even your brain.

    5. Spawns- The special thing about spawning in battlefield 3 is that you can spawn at your group that you join in the game, the material makes it much more fun but be careful if your team is in no win situation dont spawn and kill yourself, also if you find a jet, tank or any vehicle you can spawn on the base. Bottom line + The best Multiplayer you can ever ask + amazing grapchis +Sound -Camping -Storyline
    -Bags and glitches

The destruction properties adds a realism to the game and the campaign was amazing, non-stop action that kept me at the edge of my sit wondering what was going to happen next, what were you going to have to do to complete an objective! The campaign had a great ending (Not going to spoil) and everything following up to the final mission did connect with the last mission. Sure the campaign was long, I actually wish it was a bit longer, but the campaign offered many adrenaline-pumping moments! One very frustrating flaw that has yet to be fixed in the campaign is a man you must, in stealth, "silence" him. The issue is when you try to slowly crouch up behind him you randomly die for no reason at all, but I got past it by quickly running and stabbing him as fast as I could, it worked. Multiplayer was pretty fun, but had a few bugs and very frustrating situations. Spawning is somewhat terrible on the more smaller maps where you either spawn in the middle of a firefight or multiple enemies spawn pretty much right on top of you. Snipers, now this is a more "personal" issue, I really want to snipe like the more support-like type where I would spot enemies, tell friendlies when to move up/stop etc., and take out enemies that are just tearing down my advancing team. Sure the first and second reasons are simple enough, but the third one, snipers suck. Not the realistic bullet drop, but the damage. I shoot a guy from let's say 100 yards (guess) square in the chest, he's still running. Again, this is a more "personal" issue I have. All-in-all this game is a must buy and I haven't even covered one-eighth of the pros of this game. I love the more realistic factor of destruction properties and bullet drop and I love the vehicles! When a jet flies over my head in the game going pretty damn fast I'm awe struck just by a realistic feeling. Expand

The bad? Single player is a token effort. For multiplayer you are forced to have both Origin and Battlelog running to play, which is short-sighted by the devs. The game is not perfect, there is the occasional minor design quirk or bug, but nothing gamebreaking. But in short, if you have any game on your 'to buy' list at all this year; BF3 has to be it.

But a Support (not Medic) is completely useless without the defibrillator. Sure you can still level up by healing people but you can't get as much XP that you would by reviving people. I'm rating this game based on BFBC2, which if I had rated it at the time I would have given it a 10/10. So unfortunately I wont be playing BF3 anymore, but it was fun for the +20 hours I played it. I'll be going back to BFBC2. If you have bought BF3, keep on playing it, I still gave it a 9 for a reason. The graphics are some of the best I've ever seen, sound design is even better than BFBC2, which was incredible, The overall controls are the same. Jets are some of the best reasons to get this game, unless you're a terrible pilot. If you're a fan of BF2, the Back to Karkand maps are THE reason to get this game. And for the single player? Didn't even bother, it wasn't the reason I bought this game. I did play the Co-op with a friend, and it was surprisingly fun, especially the helicopter mission. Expand

It has its moments and cool scenes but the majority of it is boring and highly repetitive. I'd say it's worth a single playthrough just to stare in awe at the visuals. But no one buys a BF game for the single player. I'm happy to say that BF3 MP is what BF2 fans have been waiting for. While many of the original maps were not suited for 64 players save for 2 or 3 the Back to Karkand expansion does a wonderful job of filling that gap with HUGE classic levels and even more destructoid. What I am really happy to see DICE improve on is the infantry gunplay. Battlefields weak point was always the infantry combat but they really went above and beyond here. The biggest dissapointment doesn't have anything to do with the game but I feel should be mentioned here. This is a game that really requires teamwork and unfortunately most players seem to be selfish and only play for themselves. I am sick and tired of seeing someone run into an APC and drive off by himself when you have 7 people needing a ride. People just don't seem to work together but when you get into that rare server with those one of a kind teams it can be a real blast. Of course Origin has been a big controversy but honestly I like it. Getting into a game is so fast for me but then again I am using an SSD so I don't know how long the whole process takes for mechanical drive users. Expand

The marines talk like real marines, it can make them like able but it would have been better to learn about them more. You play as Sgt. Blackburn, a marine in detention (you'll find out why later in the game) two men interrogate him throughout the campaign, you see the choices he and his squad makes, you'll see other solders like Lt. Hawkins, tank driver Miller, and Russian opratives trying to find their missing nukes, Oh yea, missing nukes, its not the best story but battlefield 3 does the story in a unique way making it better than some of the others. The voice acting, lip syncing, sound, and graphics are awesome! A technical marble! The presentation is amazing. The main miss from the campaign is that it feels like a different game, also its only 4-5 hours, meaning the campaign won't fully prepare you for multiplayer, you wont know how to fly jets, helicopters, jeeps, you only get to drive a tank. I mainly played the game for the multiplayer, I like the multiplayer but there are serious issues. Like the hit detection, its bad. Sometimes it will be good, others, well.... ex: you empty your clip into someone just for them to shoot you once and your dead, its annoying. The co op is fun but lacking since there are only six missions don't worry though their fun and one mission will let you practice flying a helicopter. Battlefield has always been about team work and BF3 has ok team work, I've noticed that on the PS3 and PC version people especially work as a team. This is a fun game but needs to be patched cause of bugs and hit detection. Still its an amazing experence and shouldn't be ignored if your an FPS fan. Expand

DICE built Battlefield 3, using the new Frostbite 2 engine from the ground up, DICE has never been the one for story script, and Single Player has a weird cliche with Black Ops. Single Player has a minimal 3 hour campaign, the only upside to the Campaign is the Cinematics. They look almost realistic and it shows the real power of the Frostbite 2 engine. Now, Battlefield 3 is the first game on the Frostbite 2 Engine, so you will expect frequent bugs, but very rarely game-breaking. DICE is constantly doing maintence, and frequent updates to tweak and improve gameplay. Most people will hate it, and just give up on it because "they dont get any time on it". If you buy the game currently, expect a whooping 5GB of download. Of course some people won't care, but people on a fixed internet bandwith watch out, but besides that, you're running off the Web Browser with the PC Version, after a while you get used to it and actually enjoy it. It's got a lot of features to enhance your experience. I've actually measured it and concluded that 1 hour on Battlefield 3 is approx. 50MB, so after patches, it gets good.

Multiplayer is where it's all at. Single Player is very liner and scripted, Multiplayer is the exact opposite. Lots of varying weapons: 8-Primary, -Secondary (Sidearm),
-1st Gadget (Rocket Launcher, Medi-Kit, Ammo-Pack), -2nd Gadget (Repair Torch, Defibrillator, C4 Explosive) -then a perk (Ammo, Grenades, Sprint)

There's also four unique different classes:
Assault (Same as BFBC2, But now has Medi-Kit)
Support (BFBC2's Medic, Now has Ammo-Pack)
    Engineer (Same as BFBC2)
Recon (Same as BFBC2, but without explosives and added sensor gadgets)

Every gun has their own attachments, and the list goes on.

Vehicles are varied, and their are also a lot of perks coming with it. Tanks, IFV's, Jets, Heli's. PC is recommended since Console is pretty much handicapped, PC has a maximum of 64 Players while 24 for Console, controllers are considered a bit bugged and unreliable and the maps are reduced in size.

The only downside is that lag is common, you might find a few servers with little to no lag if you look properly. There is also very good players, so you will get trampled on your first few games, and there is also no VIOP, so consider getting Skype or something if you want to play with friends.

Co-Op is something to do with friends, its a bit boring, but it's something if you're sick of Multiplayer. Co-Op seems like something whipped up in the last second, but is very good on one mission to learn how to fly a heli. There is Matchmaking for Co-Op, but you cant talk to them directly and they leave most of the time.

Overall it's a very meaty game for war-crazed gamers. There is a lot of problems with DICE's Battlefield Premium asking for $50 for all the DLC's, while they cost $15 each. But that's for another time.

Overall it's 9/10, people love it, people hate it. The community can sometimes be jerks, but you will find some good guys.

    I suggest getting it.

Everything from lighting, to textures, to environments, to animation, to character models, to character animations it all looks incredible and evokes that same HOLY MOTHER OF THE LORD FREAKIN GOD feeling as when viewing the original Crysis on max settings(That is to say if you could). Though you will need an INCREDIBLY powerful pc to view the game in all its hd glory on high settings. As come to be expected by most mainstream shooters the campaign is as fun and fast paced as ever, theirs just one problem-the story. The campaign is dragged down by a confusing narrative and a cliche INFESTED plot. It is the same song and dance as many other shooters with mediocre enemy AI. Speaking of enemies, you fight-you guessed it- RUSSIANS. Really? Again with the Russians? But although the campaign has its let downs the multiplayer is the real hook here and it is FUN FUN FUN! With enormous maps and 64 player shoot outs, the multiplayer is an intense and heart pounding experience the pushes the boundaries of extreme realism in shooters. Things like suppression, low health, bullet drop, and leading targets makes battlefield feel like a real war and adding more to the realism is something call of duty lacks in-communication. Because of the massive sizes of the maps you have to talk. You have to converse with your team mates and plan like a real war. Which makes a successfully executed victory all the more rewarding. Their is one small complaint though, what the heck happened to the destructible environments? Bad company had them in multiplayer, the campaign has them, why aren't they in multiplayer? Who knows?
So, to sum things up battlefield 3 is a fantastic shooter, easily one of the best in the battlefield series and one of the best period. It's campaign story is a letdown and I really would have like to have seen some building destruction in multiplayer but the jaw dropping crap your pants graphics, ridiculously fun and addicting multiplayer, and unrivaled realism make Battlefield 3 a jem to play and a must own for any hardcore pc gamer.

Okay, I love the franchise but this game just doesn't have that Battlefield feel that every other game had. It felt more focused on what gun you used than what strategy you used. Don't get me wrong it is extremely fun, it just feels "iffy."

THIS IS WARFARE, very realistic stuff going here, bought the game because came with my new pc, so no expectations. If you are a FPS gamer this is the game of the year, also reminds me a lot to Delta Force Black Hawk Down. Disappointing stuff: Single player, easy, and story its too linear, graphics help a lot, but story DO NOT.
    Highly recommended.

Awesome blockbuster game. The graphics and sound are outstanding and there is a very cinematic feel to the single player campaign. The smoke and particle effects really add to the realism. The story and voice acting is great even though it's not ground-breaking. I'm glad the campaign was short and could finish the game in a day because I don't have 100+ hours to spend on a game. My only complaint is I would have liked more freedom of movement. You are automatically killed if you step out of bounds so you have very little initiative in how you complete a mission. Expect an action game and not a military simulation. I haven't tried multiplayer yet so I can't comment on that. Congrats to Dice & EA for a very polished and entertaining FPS. Expand

Really good game a 8-9/10 is a my rewiev
Campaign at the beginning I didn't appreacieate some parts were you cannot decide what to do but it was very interesting indeed
Multiplayer was good enough You can use veicules or airplanes But you have to make some practice before winning easily Your choice :)

Nearly a 10 but the campaign is just bleh
The co-op mode is actually about teamwork and was very fun
    Battlelog is extremely deep
There are so many weapons and vechiles
    64 Players!
    Huge Maps
    Great destruction
    Nice realistic engine finishes
Amazing graphics lighting and particle effects

On console it goes down to a 8 but on PC it is amazing

Battlefield 3 is an absolute joy to play, but only on multiplayer. The campaign is not very interesting, and the co op felt like grinding my way through hoards of enemies as they blindly run into your fire.

Multiplayer however is truly excellent. The maps offer great exploration of combat across the four classes if you are playing conquest. There will be significant advantages to being certain classes over others depending on your situation, so strategy and choosing your battles is key to your success. I found some bases far better suited for some classes over others, such as the Military Outpost on the Oil Field was brilliant for engineers because of the plethora of tanks that visit it. Snipers have proved their worth too with the MAV at their side. Spot enemies with it and your team will be destroying the enemy before too long. It hilarious sometimes how useful the MAV is. Soldiers and Support Gunners are so very useful too for front line combat and for the longevity of your battles. Soldiers can revive you, keep your health up, whilst support gunners can keep the ammo coming in and surpress the enemy.

The best thing about this game is the sound design and sound mixing. The amount of processing that goes into the sound is flabbergasting. Low pass filters on the whole mix when you die, reverb wet and dry signal changes depending on location and distance, and side chain compression for extremely loud noises over the ambience. Absolutely amazing, and not seen in other shooters surprisingly. This may be because the sound is very processor intensive, so console games will not be able to reproduce the same fidelity on slower systems.

BF3 is an amazing MP accomplishment. Everything the MP does is near perfect. This game is just a blast to play. The shooting mechanics and vehicle mechanics are second to none. I use to play CS 1.6 competitively and the gunplay in CS- which I considered the best, but BF3 does it better. However fun battlefield is, I feel as though EA is holding DICE back from performing at their greatest and fine tuning the game. It is an extremely fun game and if you are fun like me then you can incorporate some of the bugs and have some fun with them. Well made but the bugs let the game down.

Multiplayer is amazing, but not a huge fan of the netcode, getting killed from behind cover is pretty annoying. In cqc most flights end up with you and the other player killing each other at the same time.

I guess this is a rant more than a review but battlefield4 is so far the worst battlefield on current generation consoles due to many game breaking glitches and bugs when i unlock a new gun and are forced to use the horrendous iron sights the sights have a iron block in between the sight lines which takes many rounds to disappear. I also experience something i call the purple glitch which just turns my map into a flash purple mess its like being on the inside of a purple disco ball. If only EA was like they used to be. It's all a matter of taste, after all. They each provide a certain type of entertainment – when talking about Battlefield 3, it involves a bigger game, more open in its possibilities and more spectacular. But on a longer timeline, less frantic and with fewer Bruce Willis scenes than the mass appeal beast it set itself to dethrone.
