I love the way Battlefield portrays war. In BF1 it was done very very well. The opening sequence where the game puts you in a few different situations, and every time you die you get a full name and the birth and death year. I think the reason they do this is to show you that the people who died are all real, they had life and it ended in an instant. This is one of the most impactful things I think the game does, it really left an impact on me. WW1 was a horror, there are many horrible ways you can die in the game, I think the campaign is very well done.

Graphics and level design are unreal. Battlefield does big open battles the best. The map destruction and the way it changes as the battle progresses makes this the best FPS game for me. In this game in particular, the mud looks very real.

Multiplayer is very enjoyable as always

Honestly the best game I’ve personally ever played! Game has historical accuracy and amazing attention to detail. The game has so much heart and soul in it it feels like I bought a person instead of a game. Never will there be a game that I love as much as BF1.

everything i wanted and more This is the Battlefield I have always been waiting for.

Finally, I don't feel that "fat character lag" that I always experience in the past BF.
Now it's as fluid as a Counter-Strike or COD can be.

All that with amazing graphic, building destruction, and all the tank etc...

Finally a game that is polished at launch !

    Feel so great. Thank you

What a breathe of fresh air, finally back to the sort of genre that defined the franchise. Amazing graphics and intense gameplay, extremely fun to play all the way through. Fun campaign and a good selection of multiplayer modes, very impressed. Didn't like the weapon skins side of things, that is a bit tacky but aside from that perfect.

WW2 game in WW1 skin. It has issues, but less than BF4 at launch. And DICE fixed BF4 eventually, I'm confident that most issues get fixed here too. Single player is short, not worth it unless you play multiplayer.

In general the detail of graphics and the atmosphere really gives you the feeling of how the great war would of taken place. Not everyone had SMG's or LMG's to use, which is only inacurate at best but doesn't effect the gameplay. All in all the game is fun, the multiplayer is excellent which is why I buy most games anyway. The gameplay is more than I expected - not just aim and shoot on rails, there, vehicles, various approaches to an objective and my favourite part so far - the tanks.Being a crew member of a tank in WWi must have been a horrible experience and BF1 gives you a very accurate depiction of that.
Another thing that the game highlights very well is the cruelty of the war - you play a little and you get shot and die, like so many did on the battlefields of WWI.
I give it 9/10 as there are a few nitpicks for the PC version - there's 0 advanced settings in game such as AA modes or SSAO etc - you can tweak that through Geforce Experience but it would have been better if there was a setting in game. THe game doesn't lose a point for that as the engine is very well optimised and I get >100fps on GTX1080 at 2560x1440 Ultra settings all the time.
At the moment, according to the game, I am 'offline' (even as I am writing and posting this review). I have still ways to go before I finish SP campaign, but it seems that the servers have died under load, at least in my region, so minus 1 point for that, let's hope they resolve it soon enough.
Another thing I don't like is the need to have Origin client running - the pre-load crashed 1/3rd through and I had to start from scratch. I have hundreds of games on Steam and it's a shame that EA insist on Origin.
Overall a very good game and worth the admission price and a few hiccups.

Cons - VERY limited weapons. This is one of my biggest gripes with the game alone (hopefully fixed in the future) with how EA does their Expansion Passes now, deliver half a game, then part out the rest over the next 6-12 months $$$. Balance, just check youtube (OP snipers and a certain shotgun with ridiculous 1 shot-range) this can easily be fixed in a patch or two thankfully we've already seen a couple of. That would change my 8.5 to a real 9.

BF1 is a fresh take on the Battlefield franchise. The new WWI setting is a really nice change of pace from the normal modern shooters the market is drowning in. Like the previous BF games this one encourages teamwork and tactics rather then just running down a hall 360noscoping people.

BF1 is a fresh take on the Battlefield franchise. The new WWI setting is a really nice change of pace from the normal modern shooters the market is drowning in. Like the previous BF games this one encourages teamwork and tactics rather then just running down a hall 360noscoping people.

The game looks fantastic, the mud that collects on your weapons after coming under fire from enemies is a really cool touch. The guns, for the most part, are pretty darn realistic to their real counterparts. The game is new and some need to be nerfed or buffed, but Dice is pretty good at doing that. The game feels full at purchase, at least it did for me.

Now before we get to multiplayer lets talk Campaign. BF1 tells the story of WWI from a number of different characters. The campaign's stories are great, though sadly there are no levels from the other side's point of view. I am hoping that the German guy aiming his rifle at the first character will turn out to be the narrator of some expansion campaign or something in the future, but that is not set in stone. The campaign for sure is Multiplayer training, each story teaches you different styles and tactics for playing online. There is a tank heavy campaign and a plane heavy campaign, that are both quite fun, engaging, and teach you how to use the war devices.

Multiplayer is great, I really have not had many issues with the launch of the game. A few guns are too OP at the moment and could a good nerfing, but the game plays very well. The maps are pretty fun. And the new objective mode is fantastic! If you have ever played Red Orchestra it is pretty much that game mode! Imagine a conquest where you really have to work together to push forward into enemy territory or push back the assaulting armies.

    PLAYABLE ARMIES:
    AMERICA
    ENGLAND (And it's buddies)
    ITALY

    GERMANY
    AUSTRO-HUNGARIAN
    THE OTTOMAN EMPIRE

I would like the ability to play other armies involved in WWI but with map packs and expansions in the future I assume that others will be in time.

OVERALL: I would recommend this game to anyone who is big into WWI. It brought me back to the age of classic shooters, and that in itself is amazing!

Most conquest maps are great except for 2 maps - they are for puxxy snipers only. In conquest everybody will be busy doing something and there is no meat grinder locations where everyone just stuck there spamming explosives. There are enough covers so that sniping puxxxies will not dominate the map.

Rush mode is fun again, although I kinda miss the 32/48 ppl server.

TDM is now **** not enough ppl in the server to kill, and there are ppl leaving all the time.. We serious need 48 ppl TDM back again.

Operation is kinda okay to play. Expect meat grinders here and there.

Graphics are epic as always. Single player mode is awesome and story rich. No game breaking bugs so far. There are Hackers though, without private servers, it is bad - nobody can kick them out. Fxxk the hackers.

    All in all 9/10.

Battlefield 1’s campaign tells the story of 6 different characters during the First World War...
Each of the 6 chapters take place in different places of the world, and they all feel unique from one another….
You’ll take to the ground, air, and shadows…
You’ll be a tank searching for a friend… you’ll drive a tank trying to take control of the land, take to the sky as a gambler with a hint that maybe things didn’t happen the way he says it did, stealth through areas as a woman trying to sabotage war plans and destroy an armored train, and an Australian runner slicing through the trenches…
The campaign in total will take about 5 an a half hours long to complete give or take, all depending on how often you die..
And you will... a lot, as this game is brutal even on its normal difficulty…
If you’re an aggressive players, you’re not going to do too well in all but 1 chapter as you can only take about 3 hits and you’re dead… and the checkpoints can be complete garbage at time...
Especially considering how large locations are…
For the most part, this isn’t just a run and gun linear shooter… when you touch ground you’re on a massive battlefield crawling with enemies…
You have the choice to mark them all from a vantage point... sneak around them all with distractions or just avoiding them, sneak behind them for a quiet melee… get involved in a gun fight, the option for the most part is up to you, but there are many sections that force you to clear the area of enemies..
Gunplay in this game can be pretty frustrating as again... 3 shots and you’re dead…
all cover can be destroyed including houses, you do regenerate health, but it feels like an eternity before it will start, and hit detection in this game is far from perfect…
Keep in mind I’m talking single player here.. Meaning internet connection isn’t at fault...
Many times my bullets would go right through enemies doing no damage at all…
But I only found this to be the case in single player, no noticeable problems in multiplayer...
There are also annoying enemy variants like flamethrower guys and heavy armor guys who are invulnerable to bullets…
You can kill the heavy with a grenade, but the flamethrower guy is invulnerable against bullets and grenades... he can only be killed by shooting his tank…
Which you’d think a grenade would be fine for this, but no.. it’s not… really breaking immersion throwing in video gamey enemies like this when everything else feels so real…
The camera would also get a little awkward when I would try to run and find cover, which is a real frustration when you’re taking part in a section of the chapter with tanks or the armored train…
Especially since again, the checkpoints are so unforgiving and they can all instakill your character…
These sections take time.. A lot of time… and patience... as well as a handful of other stealthy sections that can sometimes feel like they’re plucked out of a hitman game with their punishment for detection…
These levels are absolutely gorgeous though, and I cared about all 6 characters during my brief time with them…
The single player gameplay just unfortunately lacks a hint of polish which stops the campaign from ever wowing me…
What did wow me however was the multiplayer…
The maps are well designed.. The mayhem of zeppelins, tanks, horses, and airplanes is almost magic…
You never really think of perspective in multiplayer games... people are usually for the most part doing the same thing as you, but better or worse…
A bunch of chickens running around with their heads cut off…
Here however, it’s such a great feeling to sit back and realize that everything you see going on, is another person having an entirely different perspective than you are…
Controlling airships.. Planes…taking them out... riding horseback into a battle zone…
It really breathes life into the competitive gaming realm…
Battlefield essentially has 6 different game types…
domination with is your typical capture and hold, rush witch is an attack and defend game, team death match where most kills wins… , war pigeons which is essentially a capture the flag match.. Get the pigeon, release the pigeon, and stop enemies from doing the game.
conquest, which is capture and hold but with complete mayhem going on… a true feeling of war…
and finally operations, which gives a back story to each of the fighting locations.. Here you either try to gradually capture all sections by capturing and holding 1 to 3 separate spots of a map or defend these sections by filling a kill counter...
Battlefield offers something here for everyone… a solid single player experience good enough to stand on its own... and a brilliant multiplayer that brings the multiplayer genre to new heights...
    I give battlefield 1...

Battlefield 1 is great game. The setting felt believable and the game play was good. It gave me a blast. The single player tells the horror of the war, It is divided into war stories each stories gives us perspectives of this people during the war. The developers gave amount of respects of the war stories for the veterans who died during it. The missions were good and the visuals and graphics are just beautiful and immersive. The Multiplayer is what Battlefield is known for, It is the same as any Battlefield game with a world war 1 setting but has few new modes and updated game mechanics and game play.

Battlefield 1 could get a 10/10 but the Single player campaign was lacking, it sure has great war stories but it was short and we needed more(Hoping for a DLC). Given it was great it sure has some problems and glitches that occur and unbalance weapons(hope gets updated).

I'm amazed how the pure feeling of fighting and the whole atmosphere around WW I setting can make me so happy for hours. Looking you and your soldiers running through the trenches, while the enemy team is retreating from the fire from the airship, and a few minutes later looking at that same airship falling down in the middle of the map in a huge fireball is pure satisfaction... so cinematic!

Ok, ok... I get it, this game have great atmosphere, visuals and all that, but what about gameplay and felling while shooting, you may ask? I played all classes equally, maybe not support that much and I can say every class and guns have their place and time of use in the battlefield... you are in the trenches, take that shotgun or SMG and clear the sector, more open area, dominate with those bolt action rifles or medic guns (that can outplay snipers at medium-long range if you play it smart), what if you need to prevent enemies from pushing or taking certain sectors... take that LMG or mortar and do that.

I love that all classes now have some way of dealing with vehicles. You now don't feel powerless as a scout or medic when the tank shows up, because you can damage them... of course Assault is the main anti-vehicle class... but it feels good when you can stop tanks from repairing with K bullets and help your teammates take that metal devil faster. Also elite classes, they are debatable. I'm fine with flamethrower, tank hunter and cavalry class, as they have their role and are more acceptable than those two terminator guys. Because, beside more damage resistance they are not that much useful, and stray away a little from WW I tone.

Speaking of vehicles they feel powerful as they should, but if you approach them right and with the good teamwork they can be dealt with. I'm not a great pilot, so I didn't spend much of my game time in the air, but the thing I love about planes, is that they now require coordination and teamwork (except when you are in a fighter plane), because you wont last long if you are alone in the bomber.
Same thing with tanks, you have Light tank, Landship and Heavy tank aka indestructible spawn beacon :D and they can deal a lot of damage if you use them right and vice versa. And I would say to have them on the battlefield (playing with them or vs them) is more balanced and enjoyable experience than compared to BF3.
Oh what about behemoths and horses? SO MUCH FUN... especially horses, who are not there just for historical reasons, as they can do a lot of damage to infantry if you catch them in the open. Behemoths are great addition and give more depth to the gameplay, but I think they need some balancing.

What is a good game without good maps and modes right? And I can just say I'm in love with all maps, with Monte Grappa being my favorite (because it reminds me of my village, minus the fortress :D ). They are trully amazing and have great atmoshpere, with all the different parts and areas that favors one gameplay over the other, dynamic weather that can change a flow of the game, great job Dice. Also we get the new game mode, Operations, that became instant classic for players, thou it needs some balancing in terms of number of attack and behemoths, because it's easier to defend and win the operation, due to fact that it takes across 2 maps.

Damn, there is so much to talk about and I'm over 4000 characters...

I think I covered basic thinks that I liked about games, now some thinks that I don't like, or have mixed feelings, and hope they would get fixed/rebalanced/added...

More guns please! Yea, we have a lot of guns on the list, but in fact it's 4-5 weapons in each class with different variant (different, scope, better hipfire etc.). I can't said I'm bored of current guns, but having a more options to choose from is a plus for me. Give us a little more customization options (I'm not talking about cosmetics), I know it's not that accurate in terms of history, but If we can have Terminators in game, why can't we have a few extra iron sights options? Where are Russia, France... and Yugoslavia, where all of this started? Singleplayer is good at moments but it's short and don't have time to develop, It's a shame, because it had potentials.
Give us option to change and customize loadouts in menu, not just in browser or in game.
Battlepacks are good addition especially when you don't have to pay real money for them but more skins and craftable weapons would be nice.

I'm out of characters so here is my closing.

Great game with amazing atmosphere and satisfying gameplay that will keep you entertained for hours. Truly the most fun I had in a multiplayer game... for a long time!

Some of the weapons are questionable for the period SMGs and semi auto rifles weren't standard issue. The ratio of Black to white solders insults history (1:1), Zulus fought for the commonwealth, but not the German or Americans,

There are the usual players complaining about snipers, and a lot of people getting bans. But in my opinion this a very good game, just wish politically correctness didn't bend history. It will be interesting to see how Dice beat this game next year.

I always feel like I'm fighting against an entire army alone, which is sometimes cool, and sometimes not. Even the companions you have through the story sends you forward and they stay back doing nothing. Wish they could've done something about this.

The good: good multiplayer, excellent artistic direction, good graphics and good performance in PC FHD and 60 FPS without issues, gameplay with vehicles is awesome.

The bad: Campaign is too short and boring, lack of maps in multiplayer, lack of weapons at the beginning in multiplayer, soundtrack is poor.

I have not touched the single player campaign yet, so my review is solely based on the bread and butter of this game, its Multiplayer.

First and foremost, please disregard anyone who calls this a "battlefront re-skin". From Battlefield 2 all the way through Battlefield 4 I've put AT LEAST 200 hours into every iteration of Battlefield games (except 2142), and the only similarities this game shares with the shallow Battlefront game is the Frostbite engine, and maybe the Battle pickups that can be found around the map.

In terms of the overall online experience, I personally find it very satisfying and rewarding. The Scout (sniper) class is reminiscent of the recon in Bad Company 2 in terms of power and gadgets. Assault class provides ample destructive power that can really pester ground vehicles assuming you just dont run out after tanks out in the open, and coupled with SMG's they can also be great with CQC. The Medic class with DMR's and med packs are great for mid range battles, and the syringe revive takes away the need to "charge the paddles" like in Battlefield 4, which i found slightly annoying. Support class retains the same LMG and ammo pack/crate system everyone is already used to as well.

Tanks are extremely powerful and are feared throughout the battlefield, especially in the right hands. Mobility is sluggish, but the firepower is devastating. Horses are awkward though, and may take some getting used to, especially with how the play style changes with them when compared to an actual vehicle. Planes and airships are relatively easy to handle, but also slow in regards to mobility which is important when it comes to balance. The days of jet/helo whoring is basically gone for the time being, but it doesnt hinder the experience of being in the air.

Most importantly, the game focuses on Teamwork. Everything you do to support your squad and team gives you points. Even accepting a revive grants you points. You can shoot up the leaderboard by just being supportive, which is great. Although at the time being everyone ISNT a team player, i contribute this to the playerbase getting used to the game right now and trying to feel things out. This literally happens to every online shooter, so give it a few weeks before you see more people working as a more cohesive unit.

Overall its a fun game. Theres a few minor bugs, but nothing game breaking, at least in my experience.

When I saw BF1 trailers and initial gameplay, I was mesmerized. Game looks, plays and feels amazing. Bought it in June 2017 after I changed my PC - it is to me one of the most addictive games I played so far. Truly beautiful, rich in details (look at the soles of fallen soldiers, even there they put some details!), feels like a WW1 game and not yet another fps game with stupid bots. If you were ever into WW1 there, movies, books etc, you will love this game. Well, I am older generation, 43 years old now, so maybe that's why I like it so much.

On the downside - game still has some bugs, especially for planes or some graphic glitches. This is however 0,01 % of the gameplay, you barely notice it. Game was also substantially changed with introducing ttk 2.0, which is kind of update to the killing engine - it is faster than in original gameplay which I do not like. But after so much time I got used to this, fine.

Overall this is amazing game. I have life, work, no time to play it all the time, but I played much to see this is truly great thing. Compared to BF V at which I cannot even look, it is disgustingly awful piece of c***, BF1 is true gem. I am sure that thanks to the failure with BF V , servers will bve fill for next 2 years at least and I am very happy about it.

I absolutely enjoyed the singleplayer well-made storytelling, significant characters etc. The ascents from the last game are really refreshing to see. But the pleasure kinda ends when you play multiplayer. Some maps look like areas from SP that you should see but not go to and it's bland open spaces in terms of next to no cover which is the key point for spawn killers and many times there's nothing for cover in some cases it really makes the multiplayer more frustrating than entertaining. The most surprising choice of returning to WW1 from DICE and they made it works like a charm! One of the best Battlefield and first-person shooter game out there with action-packed, brutal, visually-stunning and amazing multiplayer gameplay.

Incredible experience of world war. The gameplay is cinematic and brings immersion to a whole new level. It makes you invested in characters even though you spend so little time with them. The multiplayer itself plays great. Weapons feels unique and again pull you into the game even more. Unlock system for the most part feels rewarding and gives satisfaction with each unlocked weapon because of how special each of them is. While some challenges feel tedious and might take some more effort to unlock they are worth the time. Maps perfectly depict war landscapes and use different and unusual settings. This an absolute peak for the series and even now in 2021 you’ll find tons of servers to play on. Personally I think BF1 brings immersion and uniqueness in depiction of war in games (or even war overall to a whole new level. Before I played it I never thought I’d get as invested in the game world while playing with other people as I did in this game. I thought it was a campaign role to deliver such an experience. I have never imagined that any multiplayer game could possibly bring me into it’s world so much. Battlefield 1 is not only a game. It’s art. And while it can’t be called a masterpiece because it’s flawed with a couple of balance issues but it most definitely is another step in showing the reality of war and immersion in video games. I like the Elite Classes , they bring another dimension to the game and they can be killed very fast with AT gun , grenades, bayonet charge or knife .
Normal classes are balanced with many gadgets and I like that medics have acces to snipers .
I know the guns had been buffed since launch so for me the ttk is perfect.
I like the skin system in the game and some of the gold inlay skins are very nice.
Great weapons variety and I like the fact that they use prototype weapons that didn`t see action in ww1 .
The sniper damage model based on the sweet spot distance mechanic is very fair in my opinion it adds some skill to the game rewarding the precise headshots and not allowing you to get kill by one bullet in any situation when you deal with an enemy sniper.
The game has lots of noob friendly weapons but there are a few iron sights skill cannon weapons you can challenge yourself to get kills so you don't get bored.
    Great MP and SP

    Cons:

Planes are way to overpowered , normal guns don`t do any damage and even support guns are way to weak , and it`s very hard to kill the pilot without a sniper . The only way to take down the planes is for all team to focus on them and to use stationary AA guns wich are not many on the maps and only support can repair , or maybe you have luck and your team has good pilots to hunt the enemy planes down. . AT rocket gun does very little damage and it takes skill to land a shot on a moving plane , the AA rocket gun it`s good but it`s useless against ground targets. To balance this if the plane is lower then 70m the damage should be increased and also the repair system should allow repair to max 75% to make it fair and require some skill not just repair and raid spam , only bomber should be able to repair back to 100% and by the way WW1 planes were made out of wood. Update:Incendiary ammo is very effective against air so i decided to bump the score +1 :)
For killing tanks you have way more options and it takes only 3 assault players to take down any tank.
The main problem is edge of the map camping with artillery truck and tanks and spawn camp , for mods that are attacker vs defenders only the defender shoud be allow to camp behind the lines .
There is no team balance in this game . No test range map so you get dumb players who take tanks or planes who don`t know how to even drive them .
The bypod on AT roket gun is buggy , sometime it doesn`t deploy and on the fence the angle of deploy and post deploy is way to small.
Sound scratch bug , only alt tab can recover the sound to normal .
When you fire from an eleveted position the bullet drop is strange when the enemy is near cover.
Horses are supernatural in this game , the only way to take them down fast is using AT gun but not the horse the rider :) but I get it they have to make the horse a viable option.
Shotguns range for 1 bullet kill is way to big , it removes the skill when you can snipe with the shotgun , some support machine guns have unrealistic accuracy over large distances and after the first 5 bullets they also have no recoil or random spread.
EA doesn`t care about cheaters they never ban them , the auto ban system doesn`t ban even if the cheater has 100 kd and 90-100% hs accuracy with a lmg from across the map.

Battlefield 1 is a great game, I was actually waiting to play it for two reasons, sadly, two reasons which ended up being based around falsehoods.

First reason was that I heard the main campaign sucked and was tackled on, by the numbers, and boring.

Second reason, was that I heard you couldn’t skip the cutscenes in the game, which I personally don’t mind that much for my first playthrough, but this is something that really hurts replayability, as well as the option to ignore the story in case it isn’t for me, or it ends up being, just, plain, bad.

Turns out, in the end, the campaign is actually pretty good and done with care, and you sure as hell can skip cutscenes in the game. This is a good thing all things considered, mainly because of how re-playable some of these stages are with a number of collectibles and codex entries to find, as well as because the game features three levels of difficulty and a wonderful game design that prioritizes the player’s freedom on how to tackle their objectives, rather than a guided journey, in which you’re just left to follow directions and/or orders (looking at you Aliens Dark Descent).

The story basically follows five different sides of World War 1, focusing on a number of well-known fighters, although some focus more in smaller scale adventures, trying to mystify the journeys of tank commanders and air force pilots, you can play through these missions at your own leisure, but there is an order to follow according to the numbering of each, although the stories don’t really have a continuity between them; for the most part each campaign is evenly paced given that the stories at the most have around five or four missions each, totalling around 30 minutes to an hour for each campaign, depending on your speed and selected level of difficulty.

What I really like about these campaigns was the variety as well as the focus of each mission, some are more emphatic in showcasing the motivations behind each soldiers enlisting, while in other cases they’re stories about the brutality of war, or the camaraderie between brothers in arms, is really cool from a narrative perspective because it keeps things going. But this transcends to gameplay as well.

For the most part Battlefield’s 1 campaign, remains a shooter, you run around between encounters taking down enemies, but there are some cool mechanics to keep things fresh; for starters, the game added a very simple, but welcomed, stealth system, in which you can get silenced weapons from time to time, or distract enemies for inevitable takedowns, these sequences reminded me to those from the Wolfenstein series of games, essentially serving as a prelude to the actual fight, although there are times in which you can skip through certain fights just by stealthing your way through them, which was highly satisfying as well.

There are also weapon tents throughout the levels, these held crates with different types of equipment, like better weapons or better explosives and/or tools, it’s pretty cool, adds variety, and makes it so you’re in the lookout for these things. Taking about explosives, I want to add that Battlefield 1 reintegrated the destructible system from the Bad Company games, in turn, there were numerous times where I had to either change my cover, or found myself in better, more advantageous positions after the enemy shot the roof on which I was standing, sending me crashing down into a house for better cover, to give an example.

These missions are also coupled with some vehicle sections which, in my opinion, are the worst aspect of the campaign, is not that they’re bad, but they’re not nearly as dynamic as when you’re on foot, it’s nice that a lot of the times you can use these vehicles in the middle of the battle, like going in an out of a tank, or using horses to travel long distance areas, but it can also get quite tedious if I’m just locked into a tank, or a plane, and about the only highlight of the experience is the destructible systems, this is specially apparent in the airplane campaign in which, because of a tutorial -that I think was highly unnecessary at that-, you’re forced into subsequent plane missions, thankfully these gets better paced after a couple of missions in that campaign but still; I would’ve much rather prefer what they did in the tank encounters, in which you got to be in tank, but there were also sections where you just had to roam around or look after the tank, playing around with the vehicle strengths and weaknesses, all the while affecting the gameplay.

Overall, I really enjoyed my experience with Battlefield 1, the plane campaign could’ve been better paced, but generally I really thought it was a fine experience and one that I really, really liked.

Easily my favorite game this year aside from the "Witcher 3: Blood and Wine" expansion, Battlefield 1 just does everything right in my books (but of course with some mistakes on the side).

First of all, the campaign is above average for a Battlefield game.

Despite its level styles being clearly inspired from other popular games (the Aerial levels inspired by Star Fox, the Desert stealthy levels similar to Metal Gear) and its "Rambo" style campaign, DICE does an incredible job at making each and every level different and refreshing. Surprisingly the stories for each of the campaigns are fairly well-done, yet I would have preferred it if they had made it twice (or even three-times) as long.

Of course, the best part of the Battlefield experience is its legendary multiplayer!

Compared to the past Battlefield games, this game is very well balanced. Every gun and class has its advantages and disadvantages, diversity of classes and teamwork is essential to winning every game, and the balance between both teams is always kept in check.

One of the things I loved that they improved upon is that they changed the Recon Class' sniper damage to only be a one-shot-kill on a headshot. In past Battlefield games Recons were infamous for camping all over the map and slaying enemies from far away with a single shot.

While it did require skill to get kills as a Recon, a single sniper camping in one spot should not be as effective when Battlefield is supposed to be about teamwork and getting up-close and personal. Thankfully in Battlefield 1 they changed the Sniper class so that it takes two shots to kill a target, but only one in the head to kill.

Another thing they balanced is the powerful weapon spawns throughout the map. Not only are there less and only located in the actual control points themselves, they made sure that people who obtain these powerful weapons cannot drop them and cannot heal. Again, in Battlefield 1 DICE does an incredible job at keeping everything balanced while awarding teams and individuals who are of higher skill at the same time.

In conclusion, Battlefield 1 shattered my negative expectations of this game! With is above average campaign and incredibly well-done multiplayer, Battlefield 1 is a must-buy for FPS and World War fans everywhere!

The singleplayer campaign could've been longer. The first mission set-up high hopes for the campaign, but it falls short. It's still the best campaign that DICE has every pulled off, yet The stages for each area are unbalanced. You get: 4 sections for tank, 4 sections for air, 2 for heavy armor, 3 for runner, and 3 for middle east. The voice acting, the story, and the variety they give us is good, but there could've been more.

As for the multiplayer, it is great for the most part. The squad-based mechanic really gives a nice sense of teamwork and coordinations. The vehicles look, control, and feel like their actual WWI counter parts. As for the guns, there are way too many automatic weapons for it to be an realistic WWI game. The gamemodes are really great, especially operation. Operation gives you the true sense of struggle for control over lands during WWI.

Still it looks fantastic and plays fairly well on my aging machine(i5 4670k, gtx770,16Gb ram) with mostly high settings, though its well obvious I could do with a new build for this one as I can only seem to squeeze 30fps (64 player MP) which just doesnt quite cut it. I get 60fps SP. "Fairplay" seems to weasel out cheaters but how many still lip through I couldnt say.
I dunno, its somewhat fun but still unfulfilling...I find myself lacking any sense of excitement playing this ...maybe there just isnt enough meat in large scale competitive shooters for my liking. Maybe I expect too much.
