The style, the world, the culture is just gorgeous. Big props to those who created this world and filled it with so many content. Sometimes you dont want to run till your next destination, but just climb the building and watch the city from above or walk in the streets. The animations are also quite awesome comparing to the previous parts. The plot is OK, dont expect any jawdropping story that will change your life forever, but its interesting to follow the characters story and overall Arno is a cool character.
And now what completely ruined the game for me - BUGS. This game supposed to reboot the franchise to attract new people into the franchise and keep the fans playing. What I got in the release date is a game full of bugs and glitches. I tried to close my eyes on them, but untill this date the game is still full of bugs. Jumping hair, not stable FPS, NPC glitches and the worst part - Arno getting stuck in the middle of air, on the side of the buildings. I got tired of those bugs so much, that i completely lost interest to play the game, because I would know that every time I launch the game those problems keep spoiling all the fun.
Thanks to such technical performance I will from now on think twice whether to buy a Ubisoft game at all and I recommend you to do the same. I hoped that Ubisoft will fix their problems after Watch Dogs, but I was wrong unfortunately. I hope that next time their performance will be better, because its a pitty that a fan of the series loses interest to play the game because its awful technical performance.

the french speak with an english accent, the character are forgettable and the city feels gray and it doesn't have any appeal whatsoever..

Avoid this game, don't support the **** ubisoft is trying make with it's microtransactions that don't even work. Unpleasant to play, Fighting is unresponsive and the game itself is a Mess and a big F U to those who had faith on the dying(yearly) franchise that is Ass in creed.

Perhaps its because i waited before i ever started playing it, maybe its the patches, idk. Alls i know is that unity is working fine for me and i am really enjoying it. There is so many times i find myself admiring the screen. The graphics have really really great looking moments that are rare in an open world game. A lot of polish but there are some not pretty things to. But it is easily forgivable cause there are just as much stunning. i love games that impress and if you have specs enough to play on ultra, this one sure will.

I really think this will be the last time I am tricked by Ubisoft unless the next one gets rounds of 9's and 10's and is certified bug free. Therefore, I'll likely never play another Assassin's Creed in my lifetime.

AC-B was, with all its shortcomings, an enjoyable game and an adequate vehicle for dramatic storytelling. Alas, Ubi, you've long since ran out of stories to tell, and your idea of entertainment is every bit as vague as the collision detection of your graph engine. Your PC code is horribly optimized, if at all. Your mocap is a century behind average. You got history as your playground and all you can come up with is rehashed content thinly disguised by a new cityscape. The man-hours behind it do not convert that well to creativity, Ubi. You'll always have Paris - now what about a game to make justice to it?

Seriously now. 10ers, do you really enjoy games that play you instead of letting you play them? ACU does just that. It never gives you any real freedom of movement or choice. You do the one thing it expects you to do... or start over until you get it right. We're mashing buttons so that the creators of this pretty but clumsy idiot of a game can have their amusement. I do not mind your ridiculous Uplay, Ubi, nor your micro-transactions... as long as I feel your commitment to give me some honest-to-god entertainment in return.
It won't work while your 'quantity equals quality' mindset rules paramount and the console crowd thinks your antics are the new literature. Still, a shame you're not even trying anymore.

5 out of 10, just because we used to be friends.
Do not buy this, boys and girls - it contains about as much Paris as Les Miserables and will make you feel like them, too.

Sadly, four or more months after release, this game is still a hot mess of bugs. I waited, knowing the game was buggy at launch, purchasing it over a week ago. Between the graphical glitches, getting stuck on walls, random freezes, random controller drop outs… I just.

I want to like this game. Hell, I want to PLAY this game. But this game is doing everything in it's power to stop me.

Oh and why not for good measure have random time freezes.

At least I didn't experience the horrible frame rates everyone else complains about, but the game is still incredibly buggy, the combat and platforming are enraging and the storyline is dull. This competes with 3 as the worst game of the series.

No matter the developer, all games contain many bugs upon release. This should be clear to most gamers and therefore I think it's uncalled for to complain about these things and give the game a 0 solely because it has many bugs... especially when it comes to a game with such an incredibly big and detailed world. I almost put off buying it because of all the negative reviews and the general hate towards ubisoft. I'm glad I bought it to see what it really is for myself.

In my opinion, it's nothing short of a masterpiece. The world and the graphics are truly breathtaking. I can happily say it's the prettiest game I've played so far. The story and the characters are also well thought-out in comparison to AC: Black Flag, which for me had nothing to do with the AC series and I believe it to be the worst game in the franchise. The kiddies loved it though, so maybe I'm just getting old and enjoy in-depth games.
To the people who complain about it being too hard - have you even played the first AC game? If you think the Unity combat system is complicated and hard to master, please be my guest and grab Altair's AC. I for one, gladly welcomed the changes because I'm sick of the brainless one-button mashing which I saw in AC 3 snd AC IV...
The parkour elements have also been changed for the better, making it essier to navigate Arno.

Customization has been brought to a whole new level. One can spend quite some time 'pimping' the looks of his/her hero to their liking.

Paris is simply put massive. It's a virtual world bustling with life, having thousands of NPCs going about their daily life. It took me one hour to get to my mission which was 300 meters away because I got caught up in the side activities... which are hundreds and I find happen to be very fun!

Coop is truly epic playing with friends. All the missions have replay value because there are many different ways to approach them. Infiltrating buildings can also be done in a variety of ways and nevef gets boring.

All in all, an amazing game. It's unfair that people are bashing it because it's 'poorly optimized'. I simply cannot agree with us. Yes, the game does need a high-end gaming rig but all this info was posted multiple times not only online but on the back of the game case. I can't understand how people think they can run next-gen titles on their 5 year old computer when nowadays even having a computer from 2011 is considered outdated. If you don't meet the system requirements then don't get these games or invest in a console. I can play AC:Unity with no major fps drops at Ultra High Settings, HBAO+, soft shadows and MSAA-2 anti aliasing on my R9 280X.

If you have the rig for it and like the original AC games (I don't consider AC IV a part of the franchise but more of a disney Pirates of the Carribean game) go for it and give this game a shot. I for one wasn't disappointed but very pleasantly surprised even with all the horrible reviews.

the plot/dialogue on the other hand leaves a lot to be desired. it's hard to find any credibility in an opener when some unknown caller with a false name tells you within a minute of talking to you that there is a centuries old conspiracy and battle between good and evil, templars and assassins, and that YOU are suddenly one of the chosen ones. yeah right, pull the other one, it's got bells on ... as believable as the one about the Nigerian president's ex-wife wanting to transfer 1259509 billion into your account, etc... but some people do fall for that so go figure ...

co-op features are interesting and should be further developed. micro-transactions fail. unity app fail.

I can't believe this game gets such low reviews. I imagine it's all due to the glitches that it suffered at launch. I'm playing it one month later and it's working really fine. Some NPC sometimes behave wierdly, but you can live with that, happens in mostly all the games.

I read most people criticize it comparing it to Black Flag and the earlier games.. I'm not comparing it. I remember reading the same criticism about Black Flag last year. I think Unity is awesome, Paris is awesome and it's a pleasure to just explore it. There are so many things to do, and graphically.. man, it's a treat. Best graphics ever, except maybe just Crysis 3. The light, the effects.. it feels like playing in a '800 painting.

Maybe the average guy doesn't care about that. I do. And it's an awesome experience, worth the price (that by the way, got much cheaper considering the bad ratings).

And COOP is real fun, much better than the average multiplayer. There is a lot of content overall in the game, different kind of solo and coop missions etc.. you hardly get bored or see the end of it. I don't know if this is the best AC ever, it's simply a very good and fun one.

So yes, maybe it's good they release games with bugs, so people gets angry, write bad reviews and prices drop, and you also get for free what was supposed to be a DLC (Dead Kings). I think it's a steal now, just get it!!

All this made me hopeless for Unity. I Wasn't Waiting for it. however, when I saw the graphics and the world, I Decided to give it a shot. First AC Unity is a broken game. A lot of times, for no apparent reason, Arno fell into oblivion. Many times during free-run the game didn't respond to keyboard input. The story was the weakest until now lacking any actual climax unlike the stories of Ezio. The game was basically a tail, tackle, assassinate simulation, seeming like an alpha test for the engine, not an actual AAA hyped title. However I enjoyed it. roaming through Paris was fun but not at all rewarding. I wasn't even interested in going for the side missions. The strongest part was the Graphics which looked stunning, although it was plagued by countless glitches. The Whole game was a pleasing experience, but main story was ridiculously short and overall Assassin's Creed Unity had the potential to become one of the best games of 2014. It is unfortunate, because in the end, I think the Ubisoft folks wanted to make this much more enjoyable with the co-op and team aspects of the game. But that didn't work so well at first either. And to achieve that, most players need to have a really good gaming system, and that's just not reality. So it's like being between a rock and a hard place. I am changing my previous "1" rating to a 7 because after several patches and upgrades, I am able to finally play the game by optimizing the game and launching through GeForce. Still, the topic is not interesting. Arno is just not that engaging of a character compared to Ezio. The story focuses too much on the history of Paris (fine with me, I love history) but it doesn't compare to exploring Rome, Venice, Florence and other places in the AC II and Brotherhood series. Plus, where are the companion assassins?? Arno doesn't have any, except for obscure missions given by certain "shadow assassins" but he certainly doesn't command a team like Ezio did in AC Brotherhood and Revelations. Really, for a series that is so extremely popular to have over 800 negatives compared to 200 positives in this Metacritic system has to do not only with the "unplayability" but with the overall theme of the game. I rate games also based on how many times I would replay it. While I've replayed the previous AC games at least 4 or 5 times, I don't see myself replaying Unity for the next few years. It's just too predictable and basic. Today I received the DLC Dead Kings. The advanced video looked amazing. I thought it would be similar to the underground city of Cappadocia in AC Revelations. But no, each mission just takes you back to the underground catacombs and then you have to find your way out each time. It gets a bit boring. If the entire story would have been in the catacombs (again, maybe an underground complex like Cappadocia) it might have provided a bit more interest to me. The missions to "conquer" some outposts sounded very interesting. I thought wow, it's like Far Cry 3 and 4 where there is a complex of buildings you have to attack with some strategy. No. I was wrong. It's basically killing the boss and that's it. So again, simple and boring. The main effort by Ubisoft was obviously to improve graphics and offer co-op and team gaming (thus affecting a lot of people whose systems can't handle that). They need to focus on the topic, theme, characters and environment whether it's single or multiplayer and they would be more successful. Will I purchase future AC titles? of course. Does this rating ruin the chances for anyone new to give it a try? I say purchase the previous titles first, and then buy this one. By then, it will be at least 50% off. Expand

The game runs smoothly for the most part on my pretty fast computer, but every now and then there's a weird slow-down where the game becomes unresponsive. Afterwards, I find Arno climbing an invisible wall with no way to get down except exiting the game. Because most of the sessions aren't very fun, I usually don't restart the game.

The layout of the map and the large number of civilians makes running around on rooftops faster than street travel again for the first time in years. Unfortunately, Ubi changed the free-running system to now require pressing an extra button for up or down. The system isn't tuned well, and while the system does allow a person to run around a corner or around an obstacle without inadvertently climbing, it is still a major step back in terms of fluidity of control.

Combat is awful - where in previous games a player could cut down a crowd like Chow Yun Fat, Arno is not a very good fighter. The visual cues for parry timing have been tweaked, and they are not as effective - especially coupled with the slow-down that often occurs in very crowded areas while fighting. Further, there seems to be no way to prevent getting shot (the last several games had a human shield maneuver). Worst of all, 90% of the trademark assassin moves (air kills, stealth kills, etc) are unavailable until purchased with one of the FOUR in-game currencies. Combat has taken a HUGE step back in this iteration of the series.

In previous games, Ubi tried to train us to accept running around a map looting chests as a substitute for gameplay. In this game, Ubi moves to step two: exploiting the now-ingrained chest hunting by making chests that can variously only be opened in co-op, using the smart-phone app, or using real-money to buy points. The map is so filled with markers for collectable objects, which as far as I can tell offer no significant benefit upon being collected, that it makes navigation a little frustrating. And the map itself is soooo huge that missions often require running a tremendous distance between objectives, just like the old days. I would've preferred to have the map broken into separate pieces with many more fast-travel options.

A phenomenal storyline woudn't be enough to save this game, but it's irrelevant. Arno is an insipid character, like a shadow of Ezio, who as an orphan doesn't even have family members to use as a vehicle for driving the story. Overall, Unity is my least favorite Assassin's Creed game ever and probably the most disappointing AAA game I've ever played. Even AC: Liberation HD, the port from a mobile platform, exceeds this game in every measurable way short of outright visual fidelity. The only good thing I have to say about Unity at this point is that Ubi gave me a free copy of FC4 for being unlucky enough to buy Unity at full price.

This game sucks! Low fps, most of the missions are sh*t .
The AI is dumb like bread. Please don't buy it.
I pre-ordered it, and it's better to buy a 60€ skin in CS:GO, than waste it in this sh*t.

Very bad optimization and game story. i7 4770 with R9 270x and comfortable game on low settings? But Paris... Paris is beautiful city! Ubisoft made cool city, bit a very bad game!

I was not lagging or anything, less glitch then expected ! This is not that bad !
I feel like this just an assassin in Paris, killing people. The theme is not strong enough to support the game like it's predecessors. Before it was... a BROTHERHOOD, PIRATES,etc... But this ? I don't know. Guards don't run after you, they don't care about whatever you are doing. I tried really hard to like

I'm disappointed by this game, take a break Ubisoft and come back with something stronger. I was skipping every dialogues, scenes... They were so pointless.

But, graphics looks great. Not the best have seen, but some things are interesting.

I was under the impression, that beta testers were being paid for testing the games, and it would seem that I paid $59.95 for the honor of testing this PoC.

But to the point: I have a Geforce GTX 660. After bit of tweaking (outside the game), disabling FAULTY implementation of VSYNC in-game (re-enabled in nvidia cp), the game plays fine... Minimum requirements by ubisoft? GTX 680. Uh

Then there's this great bug, that causes jumps/spikes when you're connected to the Internet...

My experience so far: needlessly pumped up minimum requirements, glitchy, bug-ridden, and this is after 4 patches... What it had to be at launch day I can't start to imagine. Unskippable intros. Meh story. I suppose if you manage to run it somewhat acceptably on your PC, it's just another AC game -- don't expect Black Flag tough.

Newfound openness of Assassin’s Creed demonstrates just how inadequate its AI really is for a stealth game: pampered nobility usually simply ignores a bloodied body on the dance floor, and guards don’t care much either. At least they’ve learned how to fight: unless you “cheat” with smoke bombs, it’s highly unlikely you’ll survive a melee against a group. [Jan 2015, p.62]

As I write this, Assassin’s Creed: Unity is a bugfest, but technical problems, however annoying, can and probably will be fixed. It is not cracks in textures that it is the most worrying thing about Unity, but the cracks in game design and writing.
