i think, this game deserves 8.5, cuz we cant see like this any game that shows french revolution, and revolution civil war. (civil soliders against royalty soliders) and environment shows us the in-revolution Paris well . Even if game contains some(a bit) (very) bugs.

Assassin's Creed Unity might be one of the worst titles of the series! I don't have any idea why this game had so much problems... First, I want to say something about the storyline, which is not complicated at all, it's simple, linear, with not so much plot-twists, almost none. The second I think I want to talk about is the level of the optimization of the game, and this is very low. IAssassin's Creed Unity might be one of the worst titles of the series! The second I think I want to talk about is the level of the optimization of the game, and this is very low. I managed to play the game on maximum graphics, with FPS being stable between 60 and 70 and I think this is a little strange, because this game is from 6 years ago and my video card it's good enough. Other things I would like to consider while I write this review is the graphic, which is good, and maybe a little crispy and the fact that the gameplay overall is boring, nothing special through the game... I just can say that would be a struggle to complete the game if you are a completionist, especially because of the high rate of spawning random events on the streets. There are not many things to praise in this game, it's just mediocre, maybe not even that... Assassin's Creed should only be played if it is the last game of the franchise which you didn't finish yet. Expand

The game is not as bad as the reviews show. The story was pretty good and graphics not bad at all for a 5 year old game. No performance issues playing with RX Vega 56. The gameplay just doesn't feel responsive and the game is buggy as hell. Overall a decent assassin's creed game nonetheless.

The optimisation made by Ubisoft is bad. Unisoft didn't optimized the game. Too bad, it seemed like a good game. I can run it at 20 FPS and with too much freezes which render the game unplayable

Edit : with my new PC, it runs rather good so I'm changing the review a bit

Took me weeks just to launch this game and then just to discover its a broken mess. Lags and bugs.

It might have a great gameplay mechanic or story but if you can't run it smoothly and the experience takes the fun out of it then it should have not been released in the first place.

    Overall Verdict

7.5: AC Unity is a shy step forward in the AC series, full of interesting ideas but also with none of them fully realized. Half single player and half multiplayer, doesn't convince in any of them. Most of the players won't even try all of the aspects of the character customization nor the side activities of a big ,and we have to admit beautiful, computerized Paris.
Fans will miss the atmosphere of the old AC games but is admirable that Ubisoft actually tried to add something new to the formula, and true AC lovers will absolutely appreciate some new concepts. With a more engaging story it could have been a better game. All in all, an enjoyable game.

    _______________

    PC Optimization as of 19/09/2016

At the time of the release, the game was full of game-crashing bugs. After a year of updates the game is more than playable but still needs some tuning to avoid certain unsolved bugs. The multiplayer never really worked properly (cutting what could have been a huge positive aspect of the game). Not a well optimized game.

I'm a completionist and a fan of AC series, yet in this game i was unable to do anything but main story. Despite playing it 5 years after it was released, the number of bugs is astonishing and systems lack the polish AC: Syndicate provided. It makes the game with otherwise nice story and idea unpleasant to play.

Still the kills are fun to preform. What about the character Arno himself? Well he is charming but aside from his own hidden motives to pursue he really doesn't have much development he is a good assassin and I guess that is what matters the most for members of the Assassin Order. Compared to Shay or Edward he's a step down. The customization really improved and this is a big plus for the game as it feels worth it to compete in challenges to earn reward clothing and weapons. Bottom line the game is still fun to free roam in and do parkour. Expand

Control of the player especially during parkour is horrible. It's even hard to call it a 'control' when the character is actually out of control. Want to jump forward? Ok but the character will decide to jump backward because why not? Not to mention that it's not even possible to predict where player can jump and where he can't, very useful feature when you want to run away and you stuck and got shot because you can't jump.
Another thing is that progress level demand playing side missions or playing main missions with lower level than recommended for the next mission. Do I should maybe buy some microt...
I'm so disappointed. I love story driven adventure games and it's another after Assassins Creed Odyssey that I decided to uninstall to not bother with such bad games (Odyssey for other reasons). It seems that AC series is not for me. I prefer games where I have full control over my character and progression level is done the right way based on my progress not on playing boring side missions or paying bribe to get boost it.

What shines the most in Unity are the main assassinations. Honestly, I think they are one of the best in the series. Each one of them is unique. in each one, we have multiple ways to attack. We can free the prisoners to create a diversion, we can rob a monk to grab a key to the secret entrance to the building and so on. And for the first time in the series, I feel that Altair's word are true: "I am the blade in the crowd". The crowds in this game are amazing. There are a lot of people on the screen. Of course, they are mindless copies with no purpose, but this is still enough for you to feel like a real assassin.
When speaking of crowds is hard not to mention the setting. The game takes place during the French revolution in the 18th century. And I have to admit, I have a mixed feeling about that. As usual, the city is done with perfection. Walking on the streets of Paris, now full of barricades and flames, climbing on a Notre Dame Cathedral - just amazing. But I feel like the story potential of the Revolution was just wasted. The Revolution is just a background. We don't take part, we are just passing by.
The story is ok. That is all I can say. The protagonist has its moments. For the first time in the series, I felt like we have someone who questions what other people is saying to him. But for the most part of the game, he is just flat and boring.
The gameplay was rebuild. The combat is better and a little more difficult. The introduction of descending action during parkour was a great choice. And for the first time in the series, we have a dedicated stealth mode. I also really liked the open-world activities in the city. Especially detective quests and city object-finding puzzles called "Nostradamus' riddles".
Don't get me wrong. The game has its problems. Technical issues, Poorly designed user interface, forgettable story and an open world filled with just a little too generic quests. But It is a good game. I recommend you give it a try.

I recently acquired the game for my PC (AMD Ryzen 5, GTX 1080 ti, 16 GB Ram, 1 TB HDD), and despite a couple of textural errors, the game worked well for me. I really like the background of the saga of Assassin's Creed, with the Templars, and touch historical issues. But why do I put a zero?
    - Because I got it pirated, since in his time I bought it with a friend who has a PC (he had an FX 8370, GTX 980 ti, 12 GB Ram), and the truth is that it was the 70 dollars worse invested.
    - For the unhealthy amount of bugs that version had (the original), there are so many that if I list them, I get to write 4 whole sheets.
    - Because at the time of returning the game, the beloved Ubi denied us the return, and gave us in return Watch Dogs (another game crap more bugged than AC Unity)
    - Above all, by the damn DENUVO (the anti-piracy system), which is what makes Ubi games so screwed up.

Of course I will not blame the developer (Ubisoft Montreal), but the publisher, which is the same headquarters in France of Ubisoft, because they are the ones who give the orders to take out rushed games, show impressive trailers, put microtransactions in $ 70 games, to get more money ...

Ubisoft, what happened to you? I enjoyed with sagas like Rayman, Farcry, Tom Clancy ... now I have to pirate your games ... please, remove that DENUVO at once because it does not strain ...

But I think it's the users' fault, that they buy the game in a massive way, seduced by the trailers, and then they end up eating a very poorly optimized game, but they defend because their cult youtuber was promoting it (and that they have given the press copy and they have given him their briefcases for it). Do we really have to wait 2 or 3 years for them to fix their terribly optimized games? They have seen us the face of fools?

IF YOU ARE NOT SURE OF WHAT THE GAME IS, OR DO NOT CONVINCE, DO NOT BUY IT! NOT WORTH THE PENALTY TO DROP 70 DOLLARS THEN COME A GAME THAT KNOWS A GOOD JOB BUT RUINED BY THEIR PUBLISHER.

For this I have an example: From 1 to brotherhood of blood, to climb roofs you need 3 buttons from Assassin's Creed 3 to Unity two buttons, but with Unity, you need to press 4 buttons while reacting to the Down behavior of the character, so progress for 2014 is visible on the face. Then fight is something at all if more than 2 enemies attacked me, I just stay on one place and dying because me easier to die than kill 3 or God forbid 4 enemies when in 1 Assassin's Creed I could kill more than 7 enemies, but Ubisoft doesn't care but they did it with another enemy. And also feeling the Assassin's Creed even the pirate could use the enemy as a human shield, but not Arnaud, although he doesn’t even know how to make a double kill without training. I don’t complain about FPS with GTX 1050Ti at 40 fps on the roofs, it’s normal. The plot is a separate ROFL, but the only reason I don't put 1 it's a plot.

Newfound openness of Assassin’s Creed demonstrates just how inadequate its AI really is for a stealth game: pampered nobility usually simply ignores a bloodied body on the dance floor, and guards don’t care much either. At least they’ve learned how to fight: unless you “cheat” with smoke bombs, it’s highly unlikely you’ll survive a melee against a group. [Jan 2015, p.62]

As I write this, Assassin’s Creed: Unity is a bugfest, but technical problems, however annoying, can and probably will be fixed. It is not cracks in textures that it is the most worrying thing about Unity, but the cracks in game design and writing.
