I don't have words, where's the story? i can't see because it DOES NOT EXIST, only **** and annoying dialogues, Almost all the characters have no characterization and those who have die.The combat system is very very VERY BUGGED, an huge city where nothing is interactive, only collectible and secondary"missions".WTF Ubisoft are you ok? **** this **** i go to play to AC2 a MASTERPIECE

The game is okay, but fairly boring and didn't really expand too much on the series' storyline. Combat was satisfying but nothing new. Last year we were introduced to naval combat and an entirely new atmosphere which was a delight. This year however I feel they've taken a step backwards, nothing in the game makes you say "wow".

Of course you've probably seen all the commotion with the game's performance. Firstly, bear in mind that all the other reviews giving it 0/10 are completely prejudice and these people did not give the game time before stating their rating/opinion. Yes, the game was poor on day 1. However, a few days later after two patches I haven't really had any problems. Admittedly I have two GTX 970's, but still, I'm getting around 20fps more than I was on day 1 and haven't had nearly as many problems. The game is definitely playable.

The one great thing about this game was the NPC atmosphere. Everywhere you go there are just hundreds of people everywhere, it really brings Paris to life. On the other hand this is probably what causes so much game lag, so it'd be nice to have options to reduce crowd numbers.

As I see it the only way this game could be getting so low scores is because people purely rate it from the technical aspect. Which I can understand, the game wasnt really ready to be released yet. But I had no more than a hand full of small issues that did not bother me at all (Aside from the pop-in which I ignored). But I can of course not speak for others as I have a 970 and an I-7 4770k. But for me personally, the experience was great and that is why I give Assassins Creed Unity a rocking 9/10. Expand

Awesome entry into the AC series.Nice graphics, gameplay, story, but had some of the glitches in between but a really good game. Runs fine on PC having CPU: i7-4770,GPU: Nvidia GTX 770 OC and 16gb ram and had an average fps between 50-60 in Ultra.

Plot is boring as well, I don't care about Arno, and hate system that you should pay for easy play. This game is really easy, no challenge for assassin veterans.

Ubi just, don't make any more games, please...

Second, I'm going to give scores here for all areas except story, since this is what I really want to talk about. Graphics are a nice upgrade, the gameplay is still managing to be genius and unbearably frustrating at the same time, But the meat of the review involves the story.

    Graphics: 7/10
    Gameplay: 8/10
    UI: 7/10

But here's where it gets dragged so far down.
The story is extremely vague to begin with. Already, from the very first moments, it feels like a cop-out idea for a story. As the opening unfolds, you are given a certain task. Great. Game's set up. So you continue on your way, trying to find the information in Arno's memories you are tasked with finding. But here's where things get disappointing.

Arno is a likable Assassin, but he is really written into a corner. His story is basically just Ezio's, and his motivations for being an Assassin are simply not just unrelatable, they're also boring and predictable. So while you're rummaging through his memories, you're having a very hard time connecting with him and agreeing with the things he says.
I held out hope near the end that the game would turn around, maybe offer some awesome present-day plot twist, but it was worse than I could have imagined. Not only did Arno's story end with nearly everything going wrong, but the information you were tasked with finding is apparently worthless once they find out what it is. Present day you (who you never see or hear, or even know in anyway whatsoever) is basically told, "You did a good job though, we'll call you if we need you to do something else."

To sum it up, Arno's story was pretty boring and it ended poorly. And to top it off, the present-day story line was next to nonexistent.

One other area of the game that really disappointed was the game world. Paris looked nice, and looked busy. That's about it. The French Revolution was not explained at all, there was no reasoning for how exactly the Templars and Assassins fit into it, and meeting famous figures (like Napoleon) feels very forced and unnecessary. The city had little life and soul.

Overall, it was a chore to play, and I am upset that the game turned out so poorly. The story issues were just a result of putting almost 0 effort into it, while the game world issues I mentioned could have been avoided by setting it in a different time period. Paris in any other time would have been a joy to explore, but the Revolution made everything feel dull and hostile, too much so for the City of Lights.

Well ubisoft, the game wasn't too bad but you've done better. I played all assassin's creed games and I don't think this will be one of mu favourites, I sill give the game a 7 because 3 things didn't work out for me:

    - this game's specs are too much, I don't want the best grafic model of Paris, you should have put that time into making a better story...
    - the single player campain wasn't what I expected, It took me about 2 days to finish it and I want it to be at least a week if I have to pay 60€ for it. Also the ending of the game, well I won't spoil but it was bad. You clearly didn't put much time into it and it was god damn sad. Give me a happy ending next time.

I'll put this to a conclusion by saying that I like the new engine ( still some work on it though ) but I miss the classic stuff like taking down towers/forts and having more than 3 missions/sequence. Overall it isn't that bad but you disapointed me. Try to make a happy ending next time and you'll get at least an 8.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Wow, I am not impressed.<

First off, I run this rig:

    AMD FX-8350 OCed to 4.4GHz
    12Gb DDR3-1600 OCed to 1877Mhz
    GTC 680 4GB edition, OCed
    Corsair Force GT SSD
    Windows 7 64bit

I got this game on Nov. 11th 2014. Did not have time to install until today.
First of all WTH! 5 dual-layer DVDs! That must be an awesome looking game!

    Not so much.

After 4 hours of installation (you read right, I should have downloaded rather than install from the disks), I got to install UPlay (update actually) then I get a 800Mb patch! Well I heard of all the glitches and bugs, so this might be a good thing.

I finally launch the game and get the intro/cutscene in 720p. Fine, I will boost everything later.

First mission is a pain in the A, constant lag, frame rate drop as soon as there is combat.
The "hacking" cutscene was not that bad, looks like the game found the "HD" button and raised to 1080p. Even though it's made to look "low res".

When I am done with the tutorials, and finally can go open-world, I find a chest! Yay!

Except it PROMPS TO DOWNLOAD THE APP ON MY PHONE to unlock it!!!

Ok fine, I will get the app.
Google Play store keeps "warning"/highlighting that there are micro-transactions in this app.

That app is 450Mb by the way, don't get this over 3G/LTE, you will kill someone...

When you find out that it runs as **** as the game! And you need to pay REAL CASH to buy in-app points to do missions that unlocks the in-game chests (apparently, I never managed to actually run the app, it kept crashing). Good wasted 450Mb and at least a chest that I won't open in a 70$ game...

First "sneaking" mission basically destroyed all hopes for a better game.
There is a "dense crowd", consisting of about 30 people. They have exactly 4 different skins. Later there is a "royal meeting" with hundreds of NPC, again, 4 skins for all of them, plus the 10 or so that glitch through the walls or hang in mid-air because they are too close to a pillar.

I stopped after 20 tries at the prison escape mission, because every combat that involved more than 2 enemies was so laggy that I could not land a "perfect parry".

All in all, other than the faces that look awesome in the cut scenes, this game got nothing new, nothing good looking, nothing working as intended and most important: UBI wants you to pay extra to access the content already on the install disks!

I live in Montreal, know a few people working at Ubisoft.
But I can't let this one fly, this is a **** game. Even EA makes better stuff. They try to grab as much money as possible but at least the stuff you pay for works.

Unplayable with GTX 770. I don't care about fps but Unity stutters, lags and freezes every 3 seconds. Fps goes 0-18fps and 22-25fps. Low settings wont help because it still stutters and lags, and looks like PS1 game.

    Pros:
    - Great Graphics and acting
    - That shoehorned and useless competitive multiplayer mode was eliminated

    Cons:
    - Horrible optimization, full of bugs and glitches. By far Ubisoft's worst port after Splinter Cell Double Agent
    - The Animus's story is boring, rushed, clichéd and uninteresting. The modern is almost non-existant with a really insulting ending
    - Co-op was an interesting idea, but it was poorly developed
    - Uninteresting and boring side quests
    - Gameplay, despite some minor tweaks, is still the same from 2007
    - Fighting still looks like a bad turn-based ps1-era jrpg
    - Stealth and AI are and absolute joke
    - Full of Microtransactions

If Assassin's Creed 3 was the jumping-the-shark moment for the franchise, Assassin's Creed Unity is what killed it for good. What happens next, I don't care about it anymore. I'm done.
Ubisoft has turned into the new EA. Don't waste 60 $ on this piece of garbage of a game, buy something else.

    My vote is 2/10

The new "free running system" is not helping anything. You will still rage and have the ENORMOUS frustration of not going where you want to; which will result in a lot of death in failed escape / runaways.

The gameplay itself have not changed at all since the first ACs (Plus it's missing the cool naval fights from the previous opus..).

Plenty of the main missions have not worked well for me; even some of the tutorials missions are off timing; resulting in many failures. (Most likely since Ubi are just copying their Gameplay and are not innovating anything with the series so only juniors work on this; resulting in bad gameplay / scripting / level design).

You will also find the obvious and oh plenty bugs and glitches (falling through the map, camera glitches, etc...). and the version is COMPLETELY BROKEN ON PC!!
I am having tremendous FPS problems whatever the settings I put with dual GTX 690 (or solo disabling SLI), i7-3930, 32gb DDR3...
And trust me; it is not an issue with drivers or whatever..

I absolutely loved the first 2 ACs; but trying my luck back: I can say this series is dead for me forever.
If you were on edge for this one: my two cents is dont buy it.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I'll start by saying that I've played every single AC game ubisoft has released.
That being stated, and clear, I really tried to like this game, I mean I've been waiting for it for a lot of years now, and I got really hyped about it.
Note: I won't even speak about graphics or optimization, my computer ran if perfectly, thats all.
Now, lets get straight to the story. We all remember how the stories of the other AC games started really strong into action, sailing, getting born, etc. This game starts with you stealing an apple and then seeing your father die. You never get to that point in the story where you feel like you have enjoyed the game, or achieved something AT ALL.
Ubisoft focuses on changing combat for every single game, and this time, I have to say it feels clunky. Combat for AC 3 and AC: Blackflag was much better than combat this time. It just feels like if you play alone, you are done.
Parkour system is broken and unresponsive. That is all I have to say about it because it is frustrating. You can't do simple jumps from a surface to the other, but you CAN jump 10m from rooftop to rooftop.

Conclusion: I really tried liking this game, I've been expecting it and I've played them all. I mean if you are a real fan you know we've been expecting to see what happened to Desmond, but all the interaction we get with the outer world is a view from what seems to be a screen...

Oh well, you get a 4 because I loved your past games, but I'd rate this much lower. If you are a real fan, don't destroy your blackflag memories playing this one. Better skip it, it is not involved in the main plot anyways.

stutters and dips - a slide show... it's COMICAL! A SHAME, I REPEAT!

BUT, NOW FOR MY BIGGEST ISSUE WITH THIS GAME: IT IS THE SAME **** GAME AS ANY OTHER "AC"!
THERE'S NO INNOVATION, CHARACTERS ARE UTTERLY BORING BLOKES (SAUSAGE FEST GALORE!) - IT IS THE SAME **** AS THE LAST "ASSASSINS CREED" game! oh, wait.... no, it's NOT exactly the same: "Black Flag" had the "PIRATING" part - WHICH WAS SUCH A GREAT THING!
EVERYBODY I KNEW LOVED USING THE SHIP, SAILING THE SEAS ETC.... whenever I had to go on land, it was a turn down and I was always glas as soon as I could board my ship again to roam the seas... ARRR!
that mildly "INNOVATIVE" part of Assassin's Creed is now gone....

basically, it is the same boring lame ****E again - SSDT, Same **** Different Title.
it becomes so incredibly boring and I hate UBISOFT for ruining a nice franchise, by keeping it the same for so long and AC always had massive problems, now they are still present, only in the umpteenth installment. I'm sick of it!

EVERYBODY WHO RATES THIS GAME WITH "7" (or even higher) IS RESPONSIBLE FOR UBISOFT'S POLICY OF "NEVER CHANGE A RUNNING SYSTEM" - and why the hell SHOULD they even change it, when there's still people actually PAYING for this ****?!

I PIRATED! and god am I thankful for doing it - that way I TESTED the game, decided that it was just THE SAME BORING **** IT HAD BEEN IN THE LAST 6 GAMES and DELETED IT!

I really hope more people wake up and start to VOTE WITH THEIR MONEY!

LET UBI KNOW AND FEEL THAT WE DO NOT WANT THE SAME GAME OVER AND OVER AND OVER AGAIN! WE WANT INNOVATION! and boy had this game potential...

BTW: enjoy your performance on consoles (suckers!) - on PS4 the game runs on 20 FPS... and it still STUTTERS!

UBI claimed that 60 FPS would kill the "cinematic feel" of games on console...what a sad joke!
60 FPS is just higher fidelity - and even constant 30 FPS are much nicer, than stuttering 20 FPS ;)

THIS GAME IS NOT EVEN WOTH PIRATING! IT IS PURE ****!

I'm not even going to talk about Graphics or FPS and that massive fail by Ubisoft. However, as a huge fan of the series... a guy that owned almost every collectable, this is the worst, easily, game I've ever played. It's a massive step backward.

Nothing in this game is fluid. In a game where movement is key, you have to have fluid movement. 80% of the time your character will NEVER go where you want him to go when you're free-running and moving about. He'll catch things completely off center of camera and attempting to run one block ends up getting about four blocks of movement and 5 times as long to do because of all the extra catching and moving that the character does instead of just going forward. Don't even TRY to go into a window; jesus... it's nearly impossible and I find myself screaming at the character because he can't get in a damn window. Then, if I'm trying to find my way down a building, lord help us there, due to the horribily programmed system, you can't even release straight down until the game knows there's something there for you to grab. I constantly shout at the character like he's my 60 lbs dog greeting me at the door; "Get DOWN!". But, he just won't go down.

The combat in this game is complete junk. THE worst combat system I've played with, and I tried it on all three system; PC, PS4 and XB1. The biggest frustration with the game comes with the combat camera. They zoom in so HARD on your character that you can't see the damn fight around you!! This makes it nearly impossible to have a fight against more than 2 people and the fight ends up turning into a fight with your CAMERA CONTROLS rather than a fight with baddies in-game.

I haven't been able to get the Multiplayer to even work, for "Reasons". I can connected to the internet, I have a router (like the rest of the gaming world) but Ubisoft can't seem to get me to connect to their services unless it's 2am. So, a game heavily hyped with Coop is completely useless for me.

I've gotten completely SUCK on a building and I could go up, or down, and had to fast travel to get un-stuck.

Get this game if you want to be frustrated as hell, because that's all you're going to get. It's not fun. There's not a thing I can say about it that's nice; which is extremely sad, because I've been a major fan.

Hey Ubisoft... maybe if you cared LESS about your stupid "Companion App" and releasing another game side-by-side with this one (Rogue) then you'd actually be able to pull out a decent game. People need to be fired, and you need to do something big to make up for this because as a Studio; you just slapped all of your fans in the face.

The huge open world with thousands of unique and interactive AI NPC, is just so next-gen! This is by far the most authentic, living, breathing world I've seen in games. Everything just look so pretty! Thus, I'm not surprised the consoles can't keep up. Gameplay wise, I enjoyed the tactical stealth aspect of each assassination. It has a nostalgic look, reminiscent of the old Ghost Recon series. :) Other than the nonsensical storyline (& the sad ending), ACU is a eye-watering technical showpiece. Experience it!

Very displeased with it but as long as it plays/launches then i'm giving it atleast a 1 for that and low GFX don't look much different than high, sound quality like someone falling into the ocean sounds like a blown speaker or just plan terrible audio programing. Looking at 1/10 sorry.

Soon after posting this review, I did some more playing and ran into some glitches of my own for the first time, one where I hung from an imaginary edge or something and one where I stood on an imaginary box it seemed, could not do anything so I only way to continue was to restart from last checkpoint.. From all the lag spikes that interrupt in the middle of a battle can make it unplayable and very unenjoyable so due to that, I am dropping the score down to 0 since the game cannot be played due to lag spikes and so many glitches. I am currently using latest updates.

you can try and do the co-op missions solo good luck because the difficulty is scaled to that of having 4 player doing the mission. Besides all of those problems if you are still interested in trying this game, you may also like to know that the free running system is the worst out of all the games. Tear your hair out as you are trying to hop 1 foot away to a ledge only to jump about 10 feet to a ledge that is no where near wear you wanted to go.. In one instance I attempted to move down into cellar to "rescue" an individual, where stealth was key I tried to avoid all enemies as much as possible, moving stealthily into position in the dead of night unfortunately Arno decided to hop from side to side alerting every character within eye view to my exact location drawing enemies from all areas. Ubisoft have tackled the moving down elements of scaling a building only to fail at the basic of moving down when at ground level. On a performance level it struggles along on an i7 3770K with GTX 970 FTW in tow, often dropping to the mid 20s, to be fair I am running at max, but why shouldn't I when I paid a lot of money to be able to max games out. The final nail in the coffin of this already emaciated, rotting corpse is Ubisoft's decision to include microtransactions in a £50 game. Pure unadulterated greed is all it can be described as. I really hope Ubisoft press the restart button on their next outing or this really should be in the end for them. My sympathies to the designers because it can look beautiful, unfortunately a lamborghini with no exhaust will blow itself out pretty quickly and this game has done so with so much style. A cobbled together mess that really needs updates, tout de suite. Expand

Besides, this game's way more than it's graphics. I haven't had the technical issues people are talking about, keep that in mind when you see I've given a high score.

first of all, this assassins creed is not about killing hundreds of enemies with a rapier without breaking a sweat. This assassins creed is about stealth, planning, and getting the better gear. Also, for once, the economy of the game is actually motivated. You're going to need that money to buy medicine, ammo, and new gear.

The city of Paris is stunning. I've been to Paris myself and they've really nailed the narrow streets, big squares, and the life of the city. Never before have I experienced an open game world so alive.

All in all, I love the new, more difficult, thus more rewarding crowd control combat. They've added some much needed free running controls. You are constantly rewarded for whatever you do in the world (similar to saints row 3). The downsides would be that it's difficult to find players for the 4-player missions. There are occasional graphical glitches that don't actually affect gameplay. "Stealthing" will initially be quite hard and you will probably die a few times, but this is why you'll spend so much time doing side missions to get the gear you want for your playstyle. The game could've been better optimised with fewer glitches, but this is a great game nevertheless. It's fun and it can played with French speech and English subs, which totally ads to the experience!

If you don't enjoy doing the exact same things you've been doing for the past 6 Assassin's Creed games, then this *new* entry into the series will definitely not impress.

The game, when it actually performs in a playable state, looks lovely, it's no surprise the French developer put a remarkable amount of effort into the setting of Revolutionary Paris, and it pays off in an extremely detailed and beautiful environment.

However, this is a shallow surface detail, and it starts to become apparent that the development team spent more time on visual upgrades and pseudocurrency integration than into actually developing a game that is fun and more importantly compelling to play. As Arno, the bilingual Frenchman with a distinct English accent, you will explore Paris for the usual trudging collectibles, hidden secrets and quests that accompany any Assassin's Creed game. There is a lot of content here. Well, you might say something different if you reclassify what content is, and perhaps make the term adhere to a more strict definition, as collecting the chests which require you to use the companion app to unlock them feels both dully reused and insultingly re-conceptualized, seems more as though the mandate of the team was "filler, filler and more filler" to split the main Assassination missions apart.

This trend of Ubisoft games is starting to feel more and more tired and uninspired the more games that it is present in. The player is let loose in an open environment with a multitude of optional objectives spread out across the game world, which if it takes your fancy, you can indulge in at any point for however long you want. It is possible to complete the majority of all of these side activities within the first couple of hours of the game, barring the restrictions of story unlocked areas and equipment required to complete them.

Whilst they are "optional" "side" activities, this method of injecting content has made up the bulk of most of the Assassin's Creed series, and now it has made it's way into Ubisoft's other IPs, with reimagining of the Far Cry series and Watch Dogs, all featuring the same system of climb/hack/climb&hack some kind of elevated structure which then in turn unlocks the area and reveals all the optional objectives and collectibles that were hidden.

Obviously the formula is popular, as so far all the series that utilise this method have been all been a success in their own right, and even when other companies take the concept and use it in their own games it appears to be a factor for success, as shown with Monolith's Shadow of Mordor, which used the same tower revealing mechanic, and even had an eerily similar jump-off-the-tall-thing animation as Assassin's Creed patented Eagle Whistle Haybale Frontflip Dive.

When it comes down to it, the gameplay of the game is nothing new. The combat system is practically identical, one of the very few differences being the way that enemies health is shown, which was absent in the previous to AC games but still their for the majority of Assassin's Creed titles.

The animations of the game, when they aren't bugging out horrifically, should be praised however, for some really fantastic mocap work that does genuinely convey a sense of realism (if you can suspend the disbelief of a man doing piroutess along the front of a church and frequently breaking the laws of physics) in the sticky-handed protagonists movements, and those of NPC's.

I didn't get to play Co-op, so I won't mention it, but it wasn't really something that interested me to begin with.

Finally, the micro-transactions are pointless, and the introduction of "Creed Points" is as hilarious as it is sad.

If you're looking for an interesting and exciting experience this isn't it, and the amount of performance issues makes it impossible to recommend.

The previous ones were so great! They mixed the present with the past, but now its just a mess.

I will say the graphics are great, they definitely did a nice job with the tesselation on buildings and objects in the streets as well as the crowd size. The game wouldn't be all that bad if it weren't for the combat system - the combat system ruins the game. The camera zooms in whenever you engage an enemy, making it so if more guys come, you can't see the majority of them until they hit you and the camera refocuses on them. One shot from a rifle and you're gone - half the time you can't see the aiming reticule to even know you're being shot at. Human shields have been removed, severely limiting your options as far as countering firearms in battle. You don't have enough time to parry against the more elite enemies so you constantly get your butt kicked in combat. Many great things from previous combat engines in AC have been removed - executions, counter kills, double executions, all the really cool animations, disarming enemies, throwing enemies, all that stuff is gone. All you have now is parry and dodge which basically ends up being just a button mashing fest and using smoke bombs constantly because if you engage more than 2-3 enemies, chances are you're going to die without using smoke bombs. This goes against everything the previous games were great with - you were supposed to be a bad a$$ fighter who, as long as you executed your moves properly, could engage multiple enemies in combat without issue.

So far I really hate this game and absolutely regret buying it. If the combat wasn't so god awful I could get past all the other stuff and kinda enjoy it, but the combat ensures that the whole game is nothing but frustration rather than fun. Thankfully AC: Rogue comes out for PC in spring, and from talking to a friend at work who has it for his PS3, it has the AC4 combat system and engine in it so I will at least have that one to look forward to. Really hope Ubisoft dumps the combat system from Unity for their next game. PLEASE take it back to the AC4 combat system which was really awesome.

Stay away from this one guys. Awful awful awful.

Yes, it is a game that needs a lot of work, but give credit to Ubi-soft for being released on time (i'm sure that if the game was perfect, but delayed, they would post hater comment's about it). So sad that now days, the reviews on games only say about Graphics. Let's wait for patches and updates to give a final verdict, not at the second day of release Expand

2 x gtx 980. i7 4770k, 16gb of ram and ssd, game is still sluggish compared to others. If they fix optimization ill give 2 more points, The scifi setup is stupid and ruins the immersion often, Movement glitches make sneaking almost impossible. Everybody has British accent in France, NPCs run against walls, glide everywhere and warp stupidly on objects. 1 point for trying to make co-op.

-On every graphics setting in every resolution it never gets farther than 22 fps, except when you constantly looking at the sky you get like 60. It is unplayable in any levels.
-Arno is like a cheap Ezio.

Dear Ubisoft, cant you see that the Anvilnext engine is a crap since AC3? Drop that thing and make a new one, or just go back to the AC2 engine.I will survive if a new AC wont coming next year because of that.
Anyway the game is a broken, half-finished mass. And I can surely say that Shadow of Mordor is the best Assassin's Creed in this year.

    What sx there:
    1) A main story (plot) quite pathetic...seems like it was created just in 2-3 days before the release. Dumb emotions, dumb dialogues...nothing epic or dramatic at all! (Only kill kill kill revenge revenge drunk revenge kill kill) Even a Black Flag got 3+ dramaepic moments. 2) Music....is there any music? lol Ive heard only in credits after completin a game.

Ive heard only in credits after completin a game. Because its quite ordinary and quiet. Again if we remember Black Flag (specially main theme) - epic epic epic.
    3) Optimization...there no f optimization in this game)) So forget about to play normally for few daysweeks till UnterSoft patch it.
    4) Activities and gear - sux. Wtf you tried to beat a Sherlock by addin an investigation missions? You failed. Gear looks good but if you dont want to participate in some Club stuff - you wont get a really good-lookin and useful.
    Ok now good side:
    1) Graphics....yeah yeah with awesomely crappy optimization it looks good. I cant call it NEXTGEN...but something like a PreNextGen.
    2) Movement. Yeah tricks and parkour became quite smooth and bett-ah. But still we can face some stupid fails with jumping on wrong walls and sides.
Well thats it. Lmao but Unity sked from Black Flag and even a ACIII.

Can you play the game in state it is right now? Barely. Will you enjoy it? Definitely not.
Sorry, but I refuse to accept that FX6350, 16GB RAM and R9 280 3GB OC is not enough to get decent frame rate. On LOWEST settings fr will drop in some places to 15. It is totally unstable. It doesn't hold same frame rate for longer

What's interesting - on high settings was almost the same!
It looks like it doesn't react much to settings you run.
Unity is just not ready. Initiates website recognizes only my AC IV Black Flag. Companion app crashes and I'm losing progress - waist of time. Because some chests and unlocks can't be done without online features - you're screwed.
    Do not buy unless fixed.

Ubisoft has really outdone themselves at alienating fans this time. My current setup is able to run Crysis 3 flawlessly, Far Cry 3 perfectly, and even Watch Dogs without errors (somehow), as well as every other game it has ever come across, yet in a strange occurrence, AC:U is the only game to challenge it. Even on medium settings I was met with around 20-something Frames Per Second, appalling loading times and glitches that I couldn't have imagined if I tried.
Maybe I wouldn't mind all this as much, if Ubisoft would admit to their mistakes, apologise, offer bonus content to show their shame and release their next game with developers that had more brain cells than before, yet to my dismay, they haven't. Instead, they've blamed AMD and have acted as if nothing has happened, like a child. Speaking of petty and childish behaviours, their dispute with Steam has gone on long enough, yet they decide to hold on to their precious values, and remove the game from the Steam store. It's funny how no one has mentioned how on the UK Steam, AC:U is still "currently unavailable in your region." GG, guys!

Although I, myself, haven't experienced as bad technical issues as other people, the game is still disgraceful in its current state; for a "finished" game to be released with these problems, while Ubisoft blames AMD for their own incompetencies, in 2014, Ubisoft Montreal really has brought shame to their names and to their products after this shocking display of lethargy and carelessness. Still, I can't say that the product was COMPLETELY awful. I am finding the story to be enjoyable and creative, while giving the characters personalities that I've fallen in love with; it's just a shame that they've decided to hide this positive aspect underneath all the garbage they've thrown on top of it. Everything online already tells you the game runs horrid on all the consoles, not just the pc. So to bash it just on pc would be extremely dumb. So yes the optimizations is terrible. The game runs about 24-25 fps on Xbox one and PS4. That is why I decided to buy the game on PC. I get around 30-35 FPS with GTX 760 4gb and 4770k on ultra settings. In some cut scenes the FPS dips down to 15-20. The newer drivers help boost about 4-5 fps. Patches after the game that increase performance are going to help alot. I have only noticed one bug so far, other than that the story is good, but not great. I mostly bought this game to see where the assassins creed franchise is going and to wait for Dragon Age and The Witcher 3. This was a better alternative than cod. Expand

Now, as for the game itself... This is the first AC I've played and I'm enjoying it! The Graphics are awesome and the FPS is somewhere around 60 (40ish and glitchy with FRAPS running). I run everything on High or Ultra-High.

My machine is high end but, not ultra high end. I run a single R9-290 GPU and a 3570K with 16 Gigs of RAM.

AD:Unity is a return to the franchise roots and an improvement in almost all areas. Paris is stunning with sharp, beautiful graphics and art design. Missions area mix of old a new with a renewed focus on what the franchise is about: Assassinations.

Sometime when you play this game, you can feel the brilliance of design, work put into it by hundreds of people around the globe over 4 years of development.

Too bad that all this work is undermined by corporate greed and impossible deadline. More than Watch dogs, this game would've benefited greatly from having a 3-6 month delay. There are no game-breaking bugs, but glitches are abound with people reporting falling through the map, obnoxious pop-in and other issues.

The PC optimisation, though it surprisingly good. This game is meant for next-gen, therefore people not being able to run in on older graphics cards with less than 2Gb of RAM should've expected trouble. This is a reality check for those people who thought their PC was as good as a new-gen console: in most cases it is not. The shared VRAM in consoles is something the PCs will never get and if your card and system memory do not have at least 4Gb each dedicated to gaming, there is nothing the optimisation can do.

So all that's left is a good PC port of a great game, unfortunately riddled with minor glitches which make the experience less enjoyable as it could've been. It is a solid 8/10 and considering the lack of truly bold visionary games this year, it is a contender for Game of the Year.

If you have a decent configuration, you should try this game on PC. It is a return to form for the series from the conceptual point of view and unlike, for example, Rome 2 Total war which had both technical and gameplay issues, here we're talking about a truly next-gen experience, well thought out and polished, with bugs, most of which will not live for a month.

(This game is not 10/10, but I will give this score to offset just a little bit the amount of hate going on. )

This game deserves some justice for it's beautifully designed world and intriguing story. Unfortunately; regardless on how well your gaming rig is, this game will lag. This game will lag as if you're running it on a potato. Even after over-clocking my PC, which has an AMD 7800's Series graphics card, I need to play at low; even though the suggested level is high when auto-detected. After overlooking the fact that I needed to play the game on with a low graphics quality and with terrible FPS on top of that, I got through the introduction and swiftly learnt that this was a cash grab. Ubisoft put the game out to cash in quickly and intends to patch the bugs and optimization issues. This game looks miserable when considering the UI, and basic interface. Black Flag, it's predecessor is a much better game.

This game in conclusion is not optimized; "24 Fps on medium settings with a GTX 770 and an I7 3770k?" and is definitely not worth the buy. Wait at-least six months before even considering purchasing it. I'd pay 20$ for this game at most.

Does Unity have some bugs? Yes, but they aren't nearly as bad as some of these people would lead you to believe. They are the sort of harmless bugs I see in most complex open world games.

All I know is that Unity runs very well on my PC considering how amazing it looks. And I am enjoying the game immensely. The story is the best yet in the series, in my opinion. I'm drawn in and legitimately want to know what happens next. It doesn't hurt that the cutscenes are so gobsmackingly beautiful.

The gameplay is also the best in the series for me. The combat is harder and requires more skill and focus. I've actually died quite a few times in this game, which generally doesn't happen much to me in other AC games.

The traversal is generally much smoother and more refined this time. The animations are incredibly detailed and varied and there is a greater sense of freedom of movement. Sometimes when using the controlled descent mechanics your character will kind of float unnaturally sideways as he is descending, but that is the only niggle I have with the new mechanics. Being able to climb up, over and around things so fluidly makes me feel like spiderman. I also like the fact that you can now enter so many buildings and use them as pathways while traversing through the city.

Stealth has been improved dramatically. Finally we can crouch and take cover behind objects, which opens up all kinds of neat gameplay scenarios in the game. It's finally a proper stealth game. There is also a "last known position" mechanic, similar to that found in the recent Splinter Cell games, and it works well and allows you to use it to your advantage to attract and slip away from enemies.

The mission structure is a lot better and more flexible than in previous entries. You are given a certain mission, but it can dynamically change this time. You aren't stuck completing it only one predefined way. There is also a much greater variety of different side missions you can tackle in the game. It all makes the game so addictive.

As far as the visuals, all I can say is 'wow'. I can say without any hesitation nor hint of exaggeration that this is the best looking game I have played on PC. The lighting, shading and materials all look stunning. It's filled with detailed textures, volumetric smoke and fog, extremely detailed character models, the most realistic hair I've seen in a game, lots of neat shader work, and a host of advanced post effects.

So far it is easily the best game in the series for me and one of the best games I've played this year.

Worst optimization that I have seen in recent years, disgusting quality graphics with a huge system requirements. The first and the main contender for the title of the failure of the year.

Conclusion, great game. The best gameplay. Bad story, but still super fun. And people are over reacting about the glitches, or their PCs just aren't powerful enough, but that's their fault not the game's

After many hours of gameplay I can admit that Ubisoft made all in all a great work and AC Unity is a fascinating, incredible beautiful game to wach and play...Sure there are some performance problems with it especially when using mid-rang rig and unsuitable settings...For me I have found out perfect settings for my rig...Here are the specs

    i7-4790K OC 4,6 Ghz
Palit GTX 970 Jetstream (OC: CoreClock +14%; RAM +500Mhz)
    8 GB High-quality DDR3-RAM 9-10-10-31 running at 2600 Mhz
Cruxial MX 100 256 GB SSD

    AC Unity Version 1.1.0
Geforce driver 334.56 (Game Ready Driver for ACU)

With Anti Aliasing MAA4 I run ACU with ultra high details and AF high-quality 16:1 with 40fps average...after chaning to FXAA the game runs really smooth and I always have about 60fps only in really demanding situations the fps drops to 50fps.

The story of ACU is soo impressive and delivers also great knowledge background of the french revolution...The textures are really beautiful designed and I just love to spend hours in the huge capital Paris.

So after I found perfect settings ACU is a precious game for every PC...When some improving will be made by UbiSoft and performance patches get released the game needs to get 10 points!

    Dumb up!

I would really love to play this game but even my overclocked 780 ti is unable to render this game at a playable frame rate even on low, so there is that...and don't even get me started on the stuttering and the constant pop ups and those terrible textures even on ultra. MY GOD.

First let me on my soap box. A lot of people are complaining because they aren't getting enough fps. If you're gonna cry about the frame rate then you are just a very spoiled brat. I don't have a top of the line build, but I have a decent one. Running a GTX770 with 16GB Ram. I think the game looks great. I've had a little bit of choppiness on the cutscenes, but nothing that I can't ignore.First let me on my soap box. A lot of people are complaining because they aren't getting enough fps. I think the game looks great. I've had a little bit of choppiness on the cutscenes, but nothing that I can't ignore. Any ways enough of the soap box.

Even with the slow frame rate, the game looks stunning. It's massive too. The whole town of Paris to explore and thousands of NPC's on the screen at one time. It looks amazing. Especially when you climb to the top of a historic building like Notre Dame and it pans out to see the whole of Paris. There's also I smaller Versailles to explore with a few missions. This is where the story starts for Arno ( your character through out the story).

As for Gameplay. It's a little Difficult. They sort of fixed the parkour with you now being able to tell Arno to Parkour up or down with the press of different buttons. other wise he takes the "straightest" route. Arno doesn't always go the direction you tell him, but that may be because I still need to get used to the new mechanics. Combat is more fluid, but also more difficult. AI doesn't attack you one at a time anymore so you have to be really paying attention if you're going to play the berserker role a lot. There's also no cue for when they attack other than the animated motion of them attacking. Except for ranged they do have a crosshair icon. Stealth could be a little more refined. It's hard to tell sometimes if you're still in cover mode or not. Moving from cover to cover isn't always perfect either.

Customization. One word. Awesome. I love building my character gear around stealth. They only bad thing is the lack of color schemes. I would have preferred to have like a color wheel and get really custom colors of my choosing, but it's not the worse thing.

The story of course follows Arno. Not gonna spoil it, but it is another revenge story. Pretty similar to Ezio's story from AC2. It does well to keep me engaged, but I haven't played more than three of the sequences because the side quests are actually fun. Lots of things to do. You have lots of assassination missions. The murder mysteries are entertaining. Plus you get weapons and gear from solving the murders to help progress your character and the role you chose to play. Tons of things to do. There's also like a pub & inn place that you renovate for income which you can use to do more renovations or buy more gear for your character. Trust me you need the income for gear. the high end stuff is costly.

It's a lot of fun. Lot's of things to do. Could refine a few things, but all in all a game worth picking up. Especially if you're a fan of the series. Don't let all these nay sayers talk you out of it. But I do recommend some upgrades to your PC if it's been a while.

Does nobody else see how nuts this is?! I feel like I'm taking freaking crazy pills here! What the hell! That is my biggest gripe, but it is worth mentioning that this game is horribly optimized, needing a GTX 680 at a minimum? Is this an elaborate prank? Something is seriously wrong when I would rather purchase an EA title (Dragon age inquisition) rather than a Ubisoft title. Sorry folks this one isn't worth the time/money, I am against pirating but I fully support pirating the hell out of this money grubbing game. Expand

Thae bugs are: some NPC's are falling in to the ground when walkin in the street, and popping up again 10 sec. later, the game stutter alot and even with a framerate on 45 and G-sync its unplayable. i feels like AA is not working properly. The hair of NPS's are popping in to the air and the same for some of the NPC's cloth are jumping every second second. Ubisoft have 2 weeks to fix this game or i will demand my money back from the online shop. In oher words the game looks like it should be in an Alpha test state. And yes i have been a game tester in many betatest and some Alpha. BTW all driver is updated, even tried to reinstall the game. SHAME ON UBISOFT!! (Ubisoft was one of my favorite game publishers, but now they fall behind EA. But EA mustly have problems on lunch with servers issues, not totally broken game.

For an early access pre-alpha game, it really isn't that bad. Sure, nothing works and the game breaks horribly every other step, but that's what you expect from a game in this state.

.. wait, you're saying this is actually a game that was released? And sold to people? For money?

I played to this game since 11 November and I can say, t's a special collection of bugs, errors and problems. I can't understand why a so "professional" company can send a so crappy PC game, it's not optimise at all for a 40Gb game.
It's almost impossible to have fun when you play. And I don't speak about the crazy technical spec to "play" normally.

You can not play this game for 5 minutes without a glitch, bug or crash... if you even manage to get the thing started or have the top-end computer rig required to get above 20 fps that is.

You know that they have not optimized their game at all when it runs with 20-30 fps even on Xbox One and PS4.
Ubisoft, please consider spending more time optimizing your games. It would be greatly appreciated by everyone.

This 'Triple A' game is abysmal. Although the history is compelling and the graphics are astounding (if you have a powerful enough rig), it is sorely let down by it's terrible animations, shoddy frame-rates and its innumerous, unforgivable, exhausting glitches. Combined, these letdowns result in unrealistic NPCs, sluggish combat and lacking immersion.

Combined, these letdowns result in unrealistic NPCs, sluggish combat and lacking immersion.

There is no fluidity in character movement, which is a significant letdown given that parkour is a major component in the Assassins Creed franchise. I found myself bashing into people instead of flowing through crowds, even at a walking pace.

This is a step backwards in the Assassins Creed franchise. Basic gameplay elements have suffered at the expense of grandeur and scope. This franchise has lost its soul at the expense of corporate profit. I hope the same doesn't happen to other Ubisoft franchises (especially Far Cry).

I really feel let down by this game - especially after enjoying AC3 and Black Flag so much. I feel ripped off. Ubisoft deserve all the bad publicity they get from this appalling game. I hope that a patch will come out soon that will fix all these problems, I really do. Because the truth is, no matter how much I hate how this game turned out, I'll continue playing it. Not only do I want to get my money's worth but the history and environment is good enough to endure all the crap. And for that I'll give it a score of 3 ;p

Newfound openness of Assassin’s Creed demonstrates just how inadequate its AI really is for a stealth game: pampered nobility usually simply ignores a bloodied body on the dance floor, and guards don’t care much either. At least they’ve learned how to fight: unless you “cheat” with smoke bombs, it’s highly unlikely you’ll survive a melee against a group. [Jan 2015, p.62]

As I write this, Assassin’s Creed: Unity is a bugfest, but technical problems, however annoying, can and probably will be fixed. It is not cracks in textures that it is the most worrying thing about Unity, but the cracks in game design and writing.
