    About time people are standing up for this masterpiece not only on Steam, but also here. How is it even possible that best version of AC Unity has worst user score? What matrix is this?     If you don't like this game, then i don't like you. It's that simple. That's how seriously i take protecting this game. It has one of the most beautiful cities from the actual past recreated, insanely amazing visuals for 2014. Absolutely amazing parkour. This game doesn't have greatest story of all time, it has just okay story that has tons of fun missions. Ac 4 combat was fine, but hereIf you don't like this game, then i don't like you.     Ubisoft has always made quality games, they are obviously no Rockstar Games, but neither are other companies and that's a fact. I remember how people whined about Ubisoft games and acted like "Cybermiracle 2077" will be flawless and amazing and we all know how this turned out. Now all CDproject fanboys are quiet. Good. Unity is solid game, better than 3, Odyssey, Rogue, Syndicate (even thoUbisoft has always made quality games, they are obviously no Rockstar Games, but neither are other companies and that's a fact. I remember how people whined about Ubisoft games and acted like "Cybermiracle 2077" will be flawless and amazing and we all know how this turned out. Now all CDproject fanboys are quiet. Good. Unity is solid game, better than 3, Odyssey, Rogue, Syndicate (even tho Syndicate was solid effort and worth a play) and to me even better than Origins. But that last one is about personal taste, because Origins is very well made game and looks stunning. I just find Paris way more interesting and i like time period more, so that's just my choice, but Origins is also great game. Anyway to put it short, i would very much recommend Unity.… Expand

    I would say Unity overall is very good game, it had some issues at launch, but that was like million years ago. It always had solid parkour, solid combat, nice characters, amazing graphics, beautifully designed Paris. It was never broken lie like cyberpunk 2077. When Unity's bugs were fixed it was amazing.     Great game, Paris looks incredible (on pc at least), gameplay is not perfect, but it's a lot fun anyway. I like it way more than older ac games, but ac 4 is better than unity.

    There's something special about Unity, i'm not even sure what exactly. Maybe just this darker, more serious tone. Black Flag had something similar and i like both of them equally.

    Hopefully one day Ubisoft either remakes or remasters AC Unity and adds some new stuff like new side missions and also make Élise playable character and give her some extra missions. That would be amazing. This game clearly has huge fanbase, so why not. Even tho first i would like to see remaster of AC 4: Black Flag.

    I'm super confused, because why does it have so bad user score? I understand that there were bunch of trolls and angry people combined when it launched, because it was buggy, but it works perfectly now.     Overall: Graphically stunning, best parkour, great combat, had bad launch, but got fixed, overall it's one of my favorite AC games.
    Ranking: My second favorite AC game.

    This and watch dogs 1 are both great games that came out same year, but for whatever reason they are both super underrated. Even tho seems like in recent years those game have got way more attention and fans, or idk, maybe they were always popular. Maybe there was just bunch of haters who tried to lower the scores and actual fans just didn't care about the scores and just enjoyed the games.

    Very fun assassins creed, one of the best cities in whole series, even tho London was also cool. Black Flag is obviously better game overall, but Unity is great in it's own right.

    This game had bad launch, but ironically it was in better shape already than Cyberpunk 2077 and let me remind you, that was 2014 not 2020. So yeah and they fixed it pretty quickly. Overall it's great game, not best AC game, but still very good.

No it's not. I have been playing it on and off past 6 years, i play it pretty much every year at least once and it's great. Best parkour in whole AC series, combat is actually difficult (in a good way) and very brutal. Graphics are amazing for an 2014 game. I played as much as I could in the game and had to quit before I could reach half. In particular, I worked too hard on a mission and it was awfull. The game and the episode were not difficult at all, actually, extremely simple. However, no matter which way I tried, I couldn't always play because of bugs. If you have a question about how to not make a game, play this game directly. Write everything down from the first second to the end. Let me warn you, there can be as much as an encyclopedia.     These extremely low reviews make no sense. It had bad launch, but it was fixed pretty fast. Not like Red Dead 2 had better launch on PC and that game was also fixed. Not saying Unity is better game tha Red Dead 2, just comparing their launches. And they are both great games, just different, i like both.

    So i played this game in 2021. I heard terrible things about this game when it came out, but it was mostly about bugs. I can safely say that even without bugs this game is horrible. It seems that ubisoft forgot to code in for the ability for enemies to climb walls (even though they will spawn on rooves). If you are in a duel with 5 dudes? cool 3 will spam attacks on you and 2 will shoot you non stop.

    Which brings up a new issue in melee combat. They switched to a 'fencing' gameplay instead of the instant kill counters that we are used to. I thought I would be happy with this because combat in the previous games got a bit tedious with killing everyone with just 2 button presses. In a 1v1 duel it works great, even up to 3v1 is easily managed. the issue is when you have top fight more than that because, as listed before, enemies just start shooting you with no breaks. in the old system this was okay because we can quickly dispatch some enemies in-between shots. not only are your combat movement slower here, but for some enemies it will require 5 or more parry's and three hit combos before they go down. Combine this with no good way to dodge enemies ranged attacks and the AI no longer 'taking turns' when they attack you and the combat is absolutely terrible. now those of you who have played black flag may be thinking, 'can't i just use an enemy as a shield against the shots'? nope they got rid of that mechanic. Which is a common theme in this game, it has less mechanics and the gameplay is worse than any other assassin's creed title, and I have played all of the predecessors.

    Ok stealth is going to be the last thing for now, all attacks are loud. you want to walk up behind someone? they probably hear you and turn around. Want to assassinate someone while another guy looks away? Other guy hears you and turns around. if you want to TRY to make your attacks silence you need endgame gear, which can be bought with Real life money. and I think this is the core issue here. Mechanics that made the game easier were removed, new more frustration mechanics for enemies were put in and the best way to overcome them is to use end game gear and 'boosts' that you obtain with your credit card. as someone who even like assassin's creed 3, this game was truly awful.    … Expand

    the best assassins creed in graphics ever, real character, cant blame the drops in frame rate due to impressive graphics, the controlling is little hard, and you stuck in some corners due to some bugs, it was better to use same fighting mechanics in black flag, ill give high score due to graphics and story.

    With a new generation of console hardware, comes better graphics, bigger environment, and more of almost everything. This rings true for Unity. There are crowds on the street, NPCs feel much more organic than previous titles. The buildings are enormous, and filled with detail. You feel you are actually traversing the streets and buildings    The controls single-handedly ruined this game.

    With a new generation of console hardware, comes better graphics, bigger environment, and more of almost everything. This rings true for Unity. There are crowds on the street, NPCs feel much more organic than previous titles. The buildings are enormous, and filled with detail. You feel you are actually traversing the streets and buildings of Paris in the late 17th century. The infiltration missions were diverse, and offered unique routes and approaches. You can poison the wine, or you can cause distraction within a crowd, or simply just sneak above and drop assassinate them. Finally! the devs found a way to break the repetitiveness within missions experienced in the previous titles.

    The difficulty is also way higher, which I welcome. It was extremely easy to blast through 20 guards in the last titles due to the over powered tools you had. But in Unity, items are way more limited. And you can no longer assassinate people during a smoke or stun. Sleep darts are taken out, and you only get max 2 berserk darts. All this promotes stealth, over aggression, which is great.

    All that sounds great...BUT it's all ruined by one fundamental factor: the controls. The environment is detailed, yes, but this becomes a problem. When you free run, your character will often hop onto a random object on the ground instead of going around. While climbing a tower, you'll often find yourself jumping to the wrong ledge. There's simply too many things to go to. Unless your camera and joystick are aligned perfectly to the object you want to get to, you'll often not move or jump to the wrong thing. This is absolutely kills the pace of the game during chase sequences especially. Because of how volatile your character is, jumping to the wrong thing, or staying in the same spot, can mean massive health depletion. Or wasting medicine or smoke bombs. It is a very frustrating experience. There are also times where I've successfully stealthed through a large section, but only to be seen because an unintended jump was made.

    The narrative was not very engrossing either. The plot is extremely political. I'm not big on history, as I mainly care about the fued between Assassins and Templars, and their relation with the present and past. I found myself not caring for the allies that died, or the enemies I killed. I felt no bond with them, as they all lacked character development. There was also an absence of present day sequences, which were a staple to the AC series. No Abstergo building and modern Templars vs Assassins. Virtually no story development in the present. This was a huge let down, as those were one of my favorite parts in the past titles.

    Overall, Unity had potential, but the controls made it an extremely frustrating experience. And it barred me from enjoying the positive changes that were made to the game.    … Expand

    Well, a few years after the release this game got its best form. Many bugs and problems with optimization have been fixed and the best features of Unity are shown now to the full extent. Its unbelievable graphic and the most picturesque Paris in the gaming industry are amazing. Unfortunately the game was released too early. Without a doubt, one of the best parts of AC

Сюжет я помню до сих пор, хоть и играл более года назад. Мне известно, что игра сильно облажалась при выходе (чем-то напоминает Киберпанк сейчас), однако отвечая на вопрос смогли ли пофиксить это разработчики - да, смогли. Багов почти нет, играется легко, проблем с игрой нет. Насчёт репаков не знаю, но с лицензией траблов не возникает. Если хочется попробовать такой жанр игр, или продолжить изучение, то эта часть серии вполне подойдёт… Expand

    It had a terrible launch in 2014, sure, but it's all fixed now. It has the problems common to AC games like some bugs in the parkour or infinite fall (i had only one in my playtrough) but those are really insignificant and i really recommend you to play this now.

    The story ends with some loose ends, so you will have no dig the end of Arno's story.

    There are loads of things to do in this open-world RPG, but there is zero motivation to do any of them, I can't quite put into words how disappointed I am with this game, the world feels great but the only thing I want to do in it is to climb up to the top of Notre Dame and enjoy the view. The only good bit of the story is up to escaping the bastille, from there it's all downhill.

    Extremely underrated, but actually very solid game. Best parkour in whole series. That's the difference between steam and metacritic i guess. Steam reviews are up to date and lots of people actually like this game after it was fixed, but here most reviews are just stagnated and from 2014. This 3.8 score reflect the state it was in 2014 not 2020.

    Most of these old reviews have no value anymore. It's completely fine that they stay here, because it had awful launch, but it's fixed now. Game works well and is graphically stunning. I feel like there should be bunch of new reviews that show state of this game today not 6 years ago.

    Beautiful historical open world game. One of the best graphics in past 10 years, fine enough story, fun missions, best parkour in the series. Assassin's Creed is simply amazing.

    Este juego esta bien pero no, Es entretenido tiene muy buenos gráficos y esta ambientado en una de las épocas mas interesantes de la historia, pero tiene algo que no me gusta puede que sea la historia, el modo cooperativo o tal vez el protagonista Arno. Y también tiene bugs.

    Yeah it had awful launch, but that was 6 years ago and most bugs were fixed. It's perfectly playable in 2020 without basically any issues. Graphically it's absolute masterpiece. Best parkour in the series (so far).

    Even without all the bugs, this game is mediocre at best. The new parkour control is horrible. The character always goes directions against my will. Combat system is utter rubbish. The automatic lock system is a joke. And side missions are just boring and repetitive, and dont make any sense story-wise. . And with all the microtransactions, this game deserved to go free.

    Unity simply does the best job (almost in every aspect) of all AC games from AC1 to Syndicate.
    It doesn't have Black Flag's monotonous missions and assassinations and it doesn't feel like a remainder of dough like Syndicate does.

    I got the game way after the release so I was spared from the glitchy **** and it wasn't as bad as all the reviews make it out to be. I 100% completed this game and yes, there were some repetitive grindy missions and Co-op was hella buggy but the history of those missions was interesting.     Soldiers are horrendously placed over the map, it feels like the person who made the map didn't even try to play a round of Unity. Sword fights are extremely tiring so obviously players prefer the stealth approach, which is also broken as enemies can easy detect movements from kilometers away.

    The story is pretty much bellow average and that epic trailer is just about the co-op missions which "shockingly" is unavailable due to connection errors.    … Expand

But unfortunately, the problem of the game isn't the gameplay or the programming problems, the problem is the story, the fake characters, the open and empty world, the not emersive environment, the weak plot, the historical errors and not using historic events in favor of the main story, you start the game don't knowing what cause the revolution, in the middle of the game you don´t know why the king was murder and who the f*** is the villain, or what are Robbespierre motivations, or why Napoleon is there. You are just a viewer of the events and don't known the political intrigue behind the scenes that made the Assassin's creed franchise so awesome, the main character its just a guy falling in love with a feminist women and living a forbidden love. Is like a french slushy and mediocre soap opera full of cliches and disposable characters, but (and its just a small detail) IN THE MIDDLE OF THE FRENCH REVOLUTION, the one of the most important and decisive events of western civilization!!! The game doesn't show any diference between what is good and what is bad, i known its very difficult to work with a plot envolving the creation of left and right wing politics, and choose in what side are the villains, but cmon, you don't need to create a religion fanatic villain with no motivations to escape the polemical politcal views, i think that was easier to choose a character like Robbespierre, make him a good guy and a symbol of hope, and then make him influenced by the power and creating a new dictatorship to show that its impossible to achieve freedom by the will of one person, and what matters is to ensure the will of the people and not deciding is faith, because there is no one guiding us and nothing is true, everything is permited (the motto of assassins).
    in conclusion, the game is a complete action game, a graphic art perfection, a romantic and mysterious map to explore, a world that feels real, fun, entertaining , breathtaking and very detailed, one of the must realistic games of his generation, but with problems that tripel A quality games today don't have, its a shame that such a big company created a game with to many bugs and glichets, poor story, difficult and buggie combat system, lame parts in a massive world, a shameful loot boxes system and put a very loved franchised in a mediocre level.     The environment in this game is really immersive and extremely well designed from the interiors,parks,streets,cafes and clothing to the architecture of buildings. The game also looks very good but at short distances only due to the low LOD factor. The character textures are horrible however. The story was going great at start but it started to become inconsistent mid way and that ending was disappointing. All the characters in the game had mediocre or almost zero character development including Arno. Everybody keeps saying the relationship between Arno and Elise was the only good thing about the story but let's face it...Arno was a big (and I do mean big) SIMP. Him being so trustworthy towards Elise felt so unnatural. Also character wise he didn't feel assassin like at all. He felt more like a lone wolf ranger type. The parkour is hands down the best no doubt about that. The combat "concept" is the most balanced in terms of challenge and fun in the whole AC franchise. However the combat itself is broken. If the combat system worked the way it was supposed to the gameplay would have been a 10/10 for me. Combat bugs and ridiculous aiming ruined the experience for me a little. For example an enemy standing just 10 m away from you takes like 3 or so seconds to fire his gun but if that same enemy is chasing you, you would notice that he can shoot at you accurately and instantly from like 50m. Also hud sometimes disappears mid battle which makes parrying a bit difficult. The camera angle fluctuates like crazy in interiors. And I did play the game in 2020 btw with the most recent patches and fixes.

Esto ya bien fue arreglado con varias actualizaciones pero la polémica ya había pasado. Ahora en el año 2020 se puede decir que muchos de los errores cometidos fueron solucionados, lastima que sean insulsos por las decisiones de una empresa que solo piensa en el dinero que influye hacer nuevos títulos para sus series mas aclamadas. Paris is easily the best designed city in the series, both gameplay-wise and aesthetically. The game looks very gorgeous and really nails the feel of French Revolution with all the chaos.

    Gameplay is top-notch. The stealth is still great, only thing missing in that area is whistling to draw guards which was present in previous games. More focus is given to social stealth, which feels like a return to form. Parkour is easily the best in the series, with controlled descent allowing you to properly make your way down a building quickly without a haystack. The combat is very similar but still quite different than the rest. No more "instant kill counters" but instead they leave the enemy open for a follow-up attack. One major gripe is that early on, there may be high level enemies that are massive damage sponges that kill you in two hits but that gets solved once you level up. You very much can be overwhelmed by enemies and really encourages you to run away. Overall combat is designed as something where you can definitely take on multiple enemies but you're not some godlike killing machine like the previous games where you could fight an entire battalion by yourself. The gear system is also my favorite in the series as you can customize your character to a certain playthrough without delving too deep into the "RPG min-max" insanity that usually follows.

    Story is not bad but definitely not phenomenal. It's very middle-ground. There is certainly a lot of great moments that make the story worth playing but there is also a lot of contrived moments that are difficult to understand at first playthrough. It is definitely one of those games where the story becomes significantly better on the successive playthroughs as you notice hints and understand the importance of certain dialogues or scenes. The over-arching story is actually pretty good, it's just the individual arcs within the story range from messy to pretty good. The modern day story is 100% an afterthought thrown in just because they feel required to.

    Overall the game is incredibly fun, very aesthetically beautiful, but the story is very average. Thankfully the story doesn't detract from the game to any negative degree to let you enjoy playing through the game.    … Expand

    Прошло почти 6 лет и в игре до сих пор куча багов, весь Париж в каких-то черных полосах, люди пропадают, вылеты и так далее. Зато фпс стал нормальным, да, спустя шесть то лет.

    Сюжет - полный атас (и да, это про сюжеты в АС), ассассин, которого воспитывал тамплиер, мстит тамплиерам за то, что они убили тамплиера, вместе с другим тамплиером, который другой, не такой тамплиер.     Сюжет - полный атас (и да, это про сюжеты в АС), ассассин, которого воспитывал тамплиер, мстит тамплиерам за то, что они убили тамплиера, вместе с другим тамплиером, который другой, не такой тамплиер. Куча сюжетных дыр, акценты смещены в какие-то абсолютно никому не нужные места, важные моменты повествования, например отрывок о том как ГГ пришел к тому, чтобы стать ассасином, просто выдернуты из игры. Серьезно, бомж в тюрьме сказал, что ты ассасин, ну все дальше знать необязательно, вырежем из игры два, блин месяца. Главный герой калька с Эцио, но Эцио курильщика, творит какую-то хрень, вроде как герой-ловелас, но при этом тряпка распоследняя, фу. Историческим личностям отведено неприлично мало времени. У нас тут ВФР и огромное количество разнообразных политиков и общественных деятелей? ХМММ, покажем Робеспьера всего на пять минут, три из которых ему рубят голову, с Наполеоном точно так же. Зато вот вам Маркиз де Сад, развлекайтесь.

    Геймплей ничем не примечателен. Вот серьезно. Абсолютно неудобный и скучный стелс а-ля "просто пройди мимо врагов они на тебя все равно не смотрят, а если и смотрят, то сразу отвернутся". Единственное, что можно сказать хорошего, так это наличие города и разного рода объектов и декораций в нем, прямо как во второй части.

    Графон вау. Вот серьезно, игра адски красивая, особенно интерьеры получились на славу, причем как халупы бомжей, так и дворцы с соборами. Но мы тут не в графоний собрались играть, а в игру.

    В общем, поиграйте лучше во что-нибудь другое, игра сырая и скучная, те же самые origins и odyssey вышли куда лучше, а если комп не тянет, то переиграйте в старые части. По сути юнити вышла худшей во всей серии, даже скучнее ревелейшенс (а тут постараться надо).

    Newfound openness of Assassin’s Creed demonstrates just how inadequate its AI really is for a stealth game: pampered nobility usually simply ignores a bloodied body on the dance floor, and guards don’t care much either. At least they’ve learned how to fight: unless you “cheat” with smoke bombs, it’s highly unlikely you’ll survive a melee against a group. [Jan 2015, p.62]

    As I write this, Assassin’s Creed: Unity is a bugfest, but technical problems, however annoying, can and probably will be fixed. It is not cracks in textures that it is the most worrying thing about Unity, but the cracks in game design and writing.
