Jan 5, 2026Sonic Racing CrossWorlds Nintendo Switch 2 Edition is a truly awesome experience, one whose track-switching gimmick never tires and manages to inject some surprise into a pretty well-worn genre. Inventive, exhilarating and a stellar presentation means the hedgehog’s hot streak of quality releases continues with what may be his best outing in some time. For me, Mario and Kirby can battle it out for second place when it comes to king of the kart racers this year.

Jan 5, 2026Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds is a more than competent and enjoyable racer. Even with its big CrossWorld mechanic, it still feels pretty traditional when compared to other big mascot racers like Mario Kart World and Kirby Air Riders. While it does have its fair share of flaws, ultimately most of them won’t matter while you’re having a high-speed, multi-vehicle race through Sonic-themed race tracks.

Apr 13, 2026Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds is jam packed full of fan service, from the quippy one-liners and music to the broad selection of courses and characters. The gameplay is frantic, fresh and most importantly fun. There are a unique mix of challenges and customisation that are absent from other kart racers, such as gadgets that modify kart setups, that keep Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds infinitely replayable. All of these elements combine to make the best Sonic racing game that Sega has ever created and should be considered the premier karting experience on Nintendo Switch 2.

Dec 11, 2025All told, I’d say that this version is certainly worth the punt if you’re invested in playing this on Nintendo platforms - the Switch 2 Edition fixes the issues that were holding this game back from being truly great. Unfortunately, owners of just the Nintendo Switch won’t benefit from these optimisation improvements, but if you already own this game and have a Switch 2, the $10 upgrade feels like a reasonable price to pay for such a notable leap over the old version. I’d suggest picking this up, if only to experience what a great kart racer not made by Nintendo can be like.

Jan 5, 2026In a year like this, where we can compare and contrast CrossWorlds with Mario Kart World so easily, its faults seem a lot more glaring. As it stands, it’s a very solid kart racer that has the misfortune of being compared to one that’s just more enjoyable.
