Jon, of course, is jazzed about this new career opportunity. It's off to Newtown, Pennsylvania for him as we meet our two teams
Green Team/ Jon's Room
Vic and Lisa want to enliven their living room, unchanged for four years, with a bar. Lisa wants a nice place not only for them, but a comfortable hangout for her kids and their friends.
Light Blue Team/ Doug's Room
Rich and Sharon - their bedroom is the typical mishmash. The couch is an inheritance from their parents. "The first word in bedroom is 'bed'," says Sharon, who wants a headboard.

Key Swap
This is perhaps the last vestige of the "old style" Trading Spaces... two days, $1000, and don't peek. Now get on out of here
Jon's Room Rich, particularly, who is a skilled carpenter. Jon's first idea is to build a bar to add some life to the room through liquid libation. There will also be an overhead "wine rack" which will actually be mostly for wine glasses. Jon will paint the room this shade of "Georgia Brown" but will mask off some of the walls to create rectangular patterns. Jon is also encouraging Rich to create some furniture for the room. Paige thinks Sharon has paint color issues. Sharon says it looks like muddy water. Paige is actually painting over where Jon wants to mask off the original color. Amy Wynn is shown the plans for the bar. Jon wants Rich to make two "artsy looking" chairs out of birch to replace some of the seating. Some of Jon's furniture was finished white instead of natural! Jon will cover the white with the birch veneer and stain it. Couch reveal! "Aaaa!! I like it!" says Sharon. Jon checks over Rich's plans for the chairs With Rich working away in the background, Sharon and Jon discuss the fine points of staining the furniture. Amy Wynn and Sharon put the finishing touches on the bar. Jon pulls up the tape and rediscovers Paige's previous painting error. The art project involves staining the couch with a rubber cement resist. The stain is applied then wiped off with the grain. And then the rubber cement is peeled off. It takes three people to get the wine rack into place - and none of them remembered a screw gun $999.60 "It's gonna be fun having you around," says Paige to the new design star of TS.
Reveal-"The new guy in town" did a "cool" and "awesome" room. They love the bar and the chairs.
Doug's Room Lisa wants to see the furniture rehabilitated and the 30-year-old couch gone. Doug is also planning to get rid of the carpet. Douglas' first stop is a visit with Amy Wynn, who is not quite going to build furniture for the room as much as she's going to rescue some of the sorry furniture in the room by putting in new gliders. "I thought maybe we'd glue something to the wall," chides Doug as he gets ready for his first paint reveal of the new season. Oops! He got some on that valuable carpet He got some on that valuable carpet! Here we are, five years later, and we're still having paint fights. Wynn says the particle-board furniture is "the biggest pain in the royal butt" and "a total piece of poo." Vic and Lisa have a box of put-together furniture. Doug's art project involves stamping on fabric with brown ink. Doug explains to Lisa that the paint needs to be heat-dried Paige is getting into the furniture fray. "It's frustrating because I'm saving bad furniture," says Amy Wynn Doug mats the fabric design Doug will save the padding as he vivisects the old carpeting. But how to get the carpet downstairs? "Sir Stamps-A-Lot" leads Vic down the same road that Lisa experienced earlier in the episode with more fabric stamping. The new carpet is being laid. It's a tough project, actually. So much so that further filming in Doug's mind would be embarrassing. Homework for Doug's team is to prime, sand and paint (two coats) the furniture. He brings in a lamp and a vase. Vic and Doug get to work on upholstering the cornice. Vic is a little concerned about "the new guy in town" working on his house. Doug uses the new Singer sewing machine to do the curtains and bedspread. This is the headboard that Lisa, Doug and Paige are upholstering. This sort of pattern is very tricky to line up. Doug wants Paige's hands off the headboard.. $997.00
Reveal- (gasp) Whoooo! We got a new rug! Excellent! "Doug rocks!"
