Good acting, descent cast, pretty close following the book, awesome show's atmosphere overall.

Minuses:
Not the best costumes, ragged narrative.

In general, a good show, I hope in the second season it will only get better.

I played the games, I've read the books and when I've heard about the tv series I was thrilled but scared that it will be a total mess.

Damn! It is really well made and Henry Cavill surprised me to the point that now I'm a fan !
I love the actors, I love every scene and soundtrack that really made lost myself inside each episode!
I'm really happy how they managed to introduce this wonderful world created by Andrzej Sapkowski, they have played really well the time-lines/events in the show to introduce you from the beginning to this fantastic saga!
Looking forward for the second seasons and for the others! Finally another series that will make history!… Expand

Сериал вынуждает зрителя следить за диалогами, где упоминаются события, чтобы сопоставить время сюжетных арок трех главных героев относительно друг–друга. Йеннифэр — вырастает из искуроченого гадкого утенка в мага испепеляющего армии, Геральт — циник, познающий любовь, бессмысленно бегущий от всесильной Судьбы. И Цири, выброшенная той же Судьбой из принцесс в реальный жестокий мир. Весь первый сезон посвящен развитию этих персонажей, все сюжетные лини синхронизируются только в самом конце.

Если вы окончательно испорчены комиксоидной манерой подачи сюжета — сериал не для вас.

I'm giving the score as a level of enjoyment for a fan of the games. Firstly, I can totally understand why there are negative reviews related to the film making in the initial episodes. Firstly, I can totally understand why there are negative reviews related to the film making in the initial episodes. The dialogue feels dry, the costumes look plastic and the exposition is confusing. However, this is really the show just catching its stride. Eventually it becomes the Witcher we know and love. Especially by episode 3-4 the show brings everything together and we are on our way. There are a lot of shows out there with more polish but nothing with the heart of the Witcher lore. A lot of the 0 scores on here seem to be based on a perceived SJW narrative. Guys, they are just black actors. Hiring black actors isn't a SJW narrative. People from all backgrounds want to see themselves reflected in the characters on screen. It's just made for a broad audience. It's a fictional universe where the colour of your skin has no impact on character building. It isn't a historical drama where such criticisms might be more reasonable.… Expand

Don't understand the bad reviews people post. Complain about this mature series, with dark atmosphere and not cringing dialogue. As I can see the main critiques come for some secondary actors being black actors? Its a fantasy world people. Its not "slavic" exclusive from only Europe. ITS FICTIONAL. Get over little politic details and because of this you give it a disastrous score like being the worst ever netflix show. Stop being crying political propagandists and enjoy the story.

In my opinion the tv show keeps the atmosphere from the witcher books and games. They keep true as possible to the lore material and it is put in good manner in the show.The scenery, the mood , the dialogue is good. The action is very good. Was binge watching the whole season until 4 am. It is a good series that is something more mature and more dark as it should be.That is what it is all about. That makes the witcher universe work and they nailed that part.

Of course like in every movie or show, there are good actors and some mediocre ones. Some of them are not so good but that doesnt mean its destroys the show. The main ones are playing good esspecially Gerald is well interpreted.

Its a good show, brings somethhing fresh to Neflix, more mature and more quality to the roster. Its a different fantasy and feels good to see something diffrent and well implemented.
Can't wait for season 2.… Expand

No bull, I didn't like the first episode. It was a bit too fan service, the story was interesting but told in an uninteresting way, and one of the characters was strangely out of place in her own plot. When they killed her off, I was relieved and prepared to go on; I was rewarded.

The show captures both aspects of the games and the books very well in a way that I think has something for everyone. My girlfriend, who has no interest in games or fantasy, was able to sit through almost the entirety of the show—something she can't do for almost every fantasy cinema.

I think the reason is that Geralt is just played so well; he's an imperfect badass who smells bad. He nails the witcher voice from the games in almost every case (except when he randomly adds an accent that's almost like an American trying to do a British accent and failing). He also has the physic and the movements of Geralt from the games.

I think Yennifer is played well, but I was hoping to see her turn a bit more snooty as the show went on. I think her shield of proper-ness could be a bit more fleshed out. The organization of the show is something that I was expecting in a fantasy series, but it leads into a climactic point and enhances the story telling in a way that turns each of the shows into a piece of a larger puzzle. I think I prefer this to it being purely Episodic.

As far as these low critic reviews, I think someone is upset about something. I've seen them focus on aesthetic, or calling certain people "incel" and I think it's clear they weren't at all open to a Universe that is both chaotic and dark. I'm not sure what they were expecting in watching the show, but their input seems wanting. TL;DR:
It has an abnormally hard-to-get-through first show (all shows have a hump in the first several episodes), but it delivers a great series that I think will make book and game fans happy. I also think, based on my girlfriend, this has an interesting enough plot that might make fans out of newcomers. Most negative critic reviews seem caught up on unimportant aspects.… Expand

It is true enough to the series but some changes, I don't believe a strict adaptation would be good or satisfying though. My partner has never read the books or played the games and she followed along easily. Though some other reviews claim that you would struggle without that experience. Honestly, my girlfriend is kinda dumb, so her managing to follow speaks volumes.

Anyway, watch it and decide for yourself, certainly don't make a decision based on any reviews (I realise that might seem stupid coming from a review). It's increasingly clear that both professional and audience reviews are becoming more useless and washed down.… Expand

Haven't read the books, haven't played the games. Geralt is great, love him. The show is overall interesting and I'm loving it. Nicht nur für Witcher Fans! Personen ohne Hintergrundwissen mögen zwar eine Weile brauchen damit sie die Hintergründe etwas verstehen, aber es lohnt sich.

I've not read the books, I've barely played the games. The most I played was Witcher 1 (not even sure it was named) something like that, for about 5 hours, played Witcher 2 for about 3 hours and Witcher 3 for about 1 hour. The sole concept and story got me at that point, I think The Witcher universe is amazing. Netflix series to me was just great. It's probably 1 of 3-4 series I've watched in almost one sitting. I was engrossed in the story and characters from the beginning. First scene sets the tone for Geralt perfectly. Based on what I've known about The Witcher it's just great, I want more and I won't be happy until I see it u till it's end and if they can expand on it beyond the books, I'm I.… Expand

8/10 Great adaptation. I'm glad that it came out pretty well and I hope next seasons will succeed. The only thing that is kinda confusing is narrative. Brilliant show. Follows The Last Wish very well. Cavill is great and the story is original.

My Wife and I enjoyed the show it was a little hard to follow at times but still enjoyable.
