And three, three more hours were gifted to the Return, which above all else delivered a satisfying conclusion. For within these films were bound the true spirit of Tolkien and a celebration of humanity's compassion. But they were all of them deceived, for another film was made. Deep in the land of Amazon, in the Fires of Prime, the Dark Lord Jeff Bezos forged a show, and into this show he poured his cruelty, his malice and his will to dominate all media.

One show to rule them all.

One by one, the free lands of the internet fell to the power of the show, but there were some who resisted. A last alliance of non-bots and Tolkien fans marched against the armies of Amazon, and on the very slopes of Prime, they fought for the freedom of the internet. Victory was near, but the power of the show could not be undone. It was in this moment, when all hope had faded, that House of the Dragon, son of HBO, took up his father's sword.

Jeff Bezos, enemy of the free peoples of the internet, was defeated. The show passed to House of the Dragon, who had this one chance to destroy evil forever, but the hearts of showrunners are easily corrupted. And the show has a will of its own. It betrayed House of the Dragon, to his death.

And some ratings that should not have been forgotten were lost. History became legend. Legend became myth. And for two and a half thousand years, the show passed out of all knowledge. Until, when chance came, it ensnared another watcher.

It came to the creature Elon, who took it deep into the tunnels of Twitter. And there it consumed him. The show gave to Elon unnatural long life. For five hundred years it poisoned his mind, and in the gloom of Elon's cave, it waited. Darkness crept back into the forests of the world. Rumor grew of a shadow on IMDB, whispers of brigading, and the show perceived its time had come. It abandoned Elon, but then something happened that the show did not intend. It was picked up by the most unlikely creature imaginable: a supposed troll, Critical Drinker, of Youtube.

For the time will soon come when trolls will shape the fortunes of all.… Expand

It’s pretty clear at this point that fans of Tolkien are rightfully upset by the total thrashing Amazon is giving the to the lore of Middle Earth.

The plot of the show makes absolutely no sense and when you go to actually watch it it really seems like it was made in such a way to only make the trailers looks “cool”.

Acting - awful, pacing - awful, plot - nonexistent. This is abhorrent to say the least.

At least here on Metacritic we can actually leave reviews. IMDB and Amazon are straight up scrubbing and banning bad reviews.

Even if you get suckered in by the “good reviews” you probably won’t even be able to make it to episode two.

With the money Amazon spend on this series, you would expect securing the commitment of established actors or at the very least - competent writing. Writing and acting is what makes or breaks a show. Not budget, paid reviews or virtue signaling. You are not doing any favors to the "diverse" actors, if you put them in a disaster of a show with barely anything to work with.
While I am extremely disappointed with the show so far, I must give credit where it's due. Some of the CGI and cinematography is really good, unfortunately not enough to offset the horrible writing of the show.

P.S. Initially, I gave the show a 1 to reflect the superior production quality. However after seeing how the creators, instead of taking the overwhelming criticism to heart, started instead attacking their viewers by calling them bigots and racists, I am going for a score of 0. Do not waste your time.… Expand

I really wanted to like it, and I tried to get into it. After the 3rd episode I was finding it hard to keep watching, and by the end I was happy it was over. I don't think ill watch season 2 if there is no changes to the writing or producers.

Galadriel is deeply unlikeable, the proto-hobbits are psychopaths, and there don't seem to be many characters whose actions drive the story. Galadriel kind of floats around--sent to Valinor, picked up by a raft, picked up by Numenor, white-tree blossoms convince Numenor to go to war, etc. Instead of interesting characters making choices that push the story in unforeseen ways (like HOTD Rhaenyra choosing to fake Laenor's death and marry Daemon), stuff just happens and the characters float along.… Expand

Galadriel is one of my favorite characters from the books and what they have done to her is criminal. Guy-ladriel bears no resemblance to the character Tolkien wrote and was wonderfully portrayed by Cate Blanchett in the Jackson movies. This “version” is as snotty as the entitled white bread little girl playing the character. No acting going on. And the Elmer Fudd guy with pointy ears is pathetic. The scenes between Guy-ladriel and Elmer Fudd are a joke. The writing, characters and acting in this show are atrocious. The “hobbits” are stupid and obnoxious. The show would have been better without them. Most of the dialogue in the show is pathetic. It’s like something written for a high school freshmen dull writing class. To think thousands of Amazon workers had to piss in bottles so this travesty could be made. The show should not exist. It’s a waste of time and resources. Amazon could have done some good in the world with all the money they wasted on this puss filled pile of moldy garbage. Also, Amazon is a coward for blocking reviews.… Expand

I will start with the elves, in this series they humanized the elves to the point of being only humans with ears, they have nothing that characterized them, they are not beautiful, wise or stoic, the motivations of the elves themselves lack meaning and are simplistic and flat. the dialogues do not contribute anything to the story and are extremely boring and heavy (sometimes Even dumb). the characterization of the characters is the worst of this series, nothing achieved and absurd. I can't believe how bad this serie is. The writing is abismal, full of plot holes and all characters behabe like complete retards. I really wanted to like this but it seems like they went out of their way to ignore what Tolkien wrote. While I have too many complaints to fully list out here, I will say the butchering of Galadriel's character is perhaps the most heinous betrayal of the source material I have ever come across in an "adaptation" (hard to call it that in this case). They took one of the most enigmatic female characters ever written and turned her into a modern trope like Michael Burnham from Star Trek Discovery. Overall, this is shaping up to be the worst thing I have ever seen on television. The showrunners should be utterly ashamed and should never be allowed near a film or TV series again.… Expand

First of all don't watch this show if you have a degree in Tolkien's work or if you are a fan of his work. This show is miles away from what Jackson produced past years that even The Hobbit trilogy wasn't that bad.

This first episode doesn't sound like one. No presentation of the timeline, you have to digest a lot of information about the world, the characters, bad and good guys but still you don't understand the purpose of this show.
All the characters look british (no offense) and their acting is really bad. I was really disappointed that the dialogs between elves have been act in english and not in elvish as you should expected from a multirace fantasy franchise.
CGI is not good not bad and fortunatelly they still can fly helicopters to take beautiful landscapes from NZ however the OST is inexistant.
Finally costumes and armor look cheap as hell. Next time call me if you need a wardrobe's door to dress somebody in the most uncomfortable way we would recommend you to purchase some at a sweedish furniture store I know.… Expand
