Summary: On July 19, 1985, two tailings dams at Stava, near Trento, Italy collapsed. A resulting tremendous force of mud flowed down the steep mountain side at speeds of up to 90km/h, tearing through forest and through two small villages in Trento. 268 people died in just 3 ½ minutes.
