Summary: On the 27th of March, 1977, a terrorist bomb exploded at Las Palmas Airport, in the Canary Islands. As a result, all flights to Las Palmas were diverted to the Los Rodeos airport, located on a neighboring island of Tenerife. The Los Rodeos Airport was not catered to handle large aircrafts like the 747. On that fateful day, a KLM flight 4805On the 27th of March, 1977, a terrorist bomb exploded at Las Palmas Airport, in the Canary Islands. As a result, all flights to Las Palmas were diverted to the Los Rodeos airport, located on a neighboring island of Tenerife. The Los Rodeos Airport was not catered to handle large aircrafts like the 747. On that fateful day, a KLM flight 4805 made an attempt to take-off from a runway that was not cleared, PanAm flight 1736 was still on the runway. A collision occurred, sending both Boeing 747s, into a fiery demise. A total of 583 passengers died. A couple of survivors of the disaster provide an account of their escape. And with the aid of Advance Computer Simulation, the events of the collision are reconstructed. Reasons into why the pilots of KLM flight 4805 took-off without clearance, and why the PanAm flight 1736 was still on the runway, are investigated.… Expand
