Summary: On the 27th of March, 1977, a terrorist bomb exploded at Las Palmas Airport, in the Canary Islands. As a result, all flights to Las Palmas were diverted to the Los Rodeos airport, located on a neighboring island of Tenerife. The Los Rodeos Airport was not catered to handle large aircrafts like the 747. On that fateful day, a KLM flight 4805On the 27th of March, 1977, a terrorist bomb exploded at Las Palmas Airport, in the Canary Islands. The Los Rodeos Airport was not catered to handle large aircrafts like the 747. On that fateful day, a KLM flight 4805 made an attempt to take-off from a runway that was not cleared, PanAm flight 1736 was still on the runway. A collision occurred, sending both Boeing 747s, into a fiery demise. A total of 583 passengers died. A couple of survivors of the disaster provide an account of their escape. And with the aid of Advance Computer Simulation, the events of the collision are reconstructed.
