Is Fuller House cheesy? Yes. But, is it a bad show? No. The first episode of the series wasn't very good, but as the series leads on, it gets a lot better. This show has it ups and downs, but to any fan of Full House, it is likely worth it. It has a good cast and some fun plot ideas.

I was pleasantly surprised then when I found that, buried behind a number of poorly timed and very predictable quips, there were actually several laugh-out-loud moments in each episode. I watched the show growing up, but I wasn't particularly attached to it. The 90's style sitcom tropes are prevalent throughout, meaning that only about 30-40% of the one-liners are actually intelligent or funny, but the ones that do land are what make the show worth watching. I'm saying this as someone who's not overly attached to the way that every episode seems to end with a heartfelt confession, someone saying "I love you guys", and a group hug as the "audience" sighs. That aspect of the show has always grated on me. As a side note, this show is much more mature than it was before- the show was once a squeaky clean white-bread America sitcom, but it's more edgy now, with a small bit of profanity, anatomical references, and sexual comments meant to go over the heads of kids. I wouldn't go so far as to call it a PG-13 show, but it's definitely not rated G. Expand

The show is at it's strongest when focusing on the new family and returning characters and overused catchphrases often distract from that. Special mention has to be made to Carly Rae Jepsen who did a fantastic job with the opening theme. Overall the show does a good job of keeping the spirit of the original series in tact. The Pilot does comes off as fairly corny but I recommending sticking with it as once the show starts focusing on the main cast and doing it's own thing it does get better. Expand

Fuller House is not much of an evolution of Full House. It's not smarter, or less cute, or bigger in scope. It doesn't break new ground or even redeem any of Full House's faults; it's merely a continuation of the universe that Full House left behind, with some added boob jokes.

I don't know why people expected this to be anything more than a cheesy nostalgic reminder. It's not high art.

The three main female leads (Cameron-Bure, Sweetin, and Barber) fill their roles effortlessly, and their line delivery is spot on. Sweetin is especially good. I am honestly shocked by the professional critic reviews for the show. I think the majority got this one wrong. Maybe it's a sign of the times, but a lot of reviews read like they were composed by some very jaded and cynical people.

Fuller House is one of the better family sitcoms I have seen since, well the 90s. It brings the heart and soul back into sitcom TV, with a more pure kind of humor that isn't predicated on tongue-in-cheek witty one-upsmanship or constant sarcasm. Don't get me wrong, the show doesn't shy away from the occasional double entendre, dirty joke, or adult-natured theme. The end result is a show that refreshingly avoids a lot of cynicism and delivers 30 minutes of feel-good vibes and laughs.

Fuller House manages to perfectly balance the inclusion of old cast members with the introduction of new faces, something many revival shows have struggled with so far. I am honestly pleased by the way they handled the inclusion of the "adults" from the original series. They appear just enough to feel like they are still part of the world, without dominating what is supposed to be a new generation of main characters. There is also a good balance in story dedicated to the adults and the children, something also done fairly well in the original series. Other shows can sometimes struggle with this (I'm looking at you Girl Meets World, seriously don't get me started on that), so it was nice to see it done well. Speaking of the actors...

The three leading ladies are all wonderful and slip back naturally into the roles that cemented them as 90s icons, with Andrea Barber being a bit of a standout to me as the one and only Kimmy Gibbler. But both Jodi Sweetin and Candace Cameron Bure are great as the Tanner sisters Stephanie and DJ. As for the supporting characters, Fernando and Matt are strong enough to command their own attention as new faces to the franchise. The somewhat stereotypical and caricature-ish Latin lover Fernando, played by Juan Pablo di Pace, actually works in the show and is a great comedic presence. I mean who else could play foil to the equally eccentric Kimmy Gibbler? John Brotherton plays Matt, the new love interest for DJ Tanner, bringing enough humor and charisma to the role to make him a very likable character. Alas, poor Steve, played by original series actor Scott Weinger, was given the old "creepy stalker" treatment that really stripped away his cool mystique and left us with a somewhat desperate, pathetic, if not kind-hearted romantic rival. It is entirely possible that this was what the writers were going for - a riff on the popular jock who peaked in high school.

What may have been more surprising is the show's strong child actors. Michael Campion plays the rebellious but ultimately naive and dorky Jackson. Elias Harger is another standout in his role as the sweet but smart-mouthed Max. Soni Bringas plays Ramona, the fiery child of a somewhat troubled marriage. It can be very easy for child actors to drag a show down, particularly if they are in a starring role. But for the most part, I honestly found myself enjoying the scenes and stories featuring the children as much as I enjoyed the scenes featuring the adults.

The pilot was admittedly rough. You had old actors trying to find their legs again, new actors trying to find theirs for the first time, new setups and background stories to establish, all with fan-service shoved into every nook and cranny possible. I had some doubts after watching the first episode, but the show really gets better and it does so quickly.

The show is not without its faults. There was a bit of a reliance on old catch phrases ("Oh Mylanta" "How Rude") that while great at first, felt used again just one time too many. The introduction of some new ones like "Holy Chalupas" ring as overly hokey and forced. But there was good to be found too, as I really enjoyed Jackson's dorky "J Money" alter ego and his catchphrase of "and THAT is how it's done."

There are also of course the completely unrealistic sequences that are well known to sitcom TV, such as breaking into spontaneous dance and song, dating celebrity guests etc. While these could be somewhat of a sore thumb, the genuine joy the actors exuded during many of these situations disarm the viewer from feeling too much awkwardness.

Overall, I really enjoyed the show and found myself wanting more than the 13 episodes and hoping for a season 2 announcement. As far as a Full House sequel goes, Fuller House exceeded my expectations by a very large margin. It really struck all the right chords, fulfilling that need for nostalgia while bringing in a lot of new aspects to keep things familiarly fresh.

By far the best series I have seen in a long time. This was a great way for us 90's kids to enjoy a piece of our history. I really hope they film a season 2. This has been a long awaited series and I look forward this this running for many many years. The series has many jabs at full house and some of its actors. The tag lines are amazing! HOW RUDE!!!!

I liked it enough to watch all of season 1 in a single weekend. Reminds me a lot of the original and I was entertained a lot. Looking forward to season 2!

That old school feel good flare. The show picked up right where it left off. No, this does not have the cinematic value of "Game of Thrones", or "The Walking Dead". Nor does it have the intriguing on the edge of your seat storylines. It does however make you feel good, whether you are 8 or 80, male or female. get Michelle back for season 2 and you have a winner.

LOVE this show. The nostalgia factor is through the roof, and the fact that they are on Netflix is so kick ass, free to do whatever they hell they want writing and content wise. The girls are funny and sexy, and I love the flashbacks, the use of Hunter pence and the Giants vs the Dodgers.. as a native San Franciscan and orange bleeding Giant fan I appreciate all the true to heart SF thatsLOVE this show. This is an amazing series. It preserves all the catchy phrases that the full house cast used. The four children are amazing as well. Max is probably the best. Jackson could be better. Only things missing are the Olsen twins.

I was crazy excited and hesitant about this reboot. At first really wasn't thrilled was kinda cheesy but I feel that was expected. However the level of feminist references, inclusion, and acceptance in this series has me hooked. A sexy female character that simply cannot bare children??? A child fitting into stereotypical gay ideals, intelligent girls, opinionated women. I'm all for theI was crazy excited and hesitant about this reboot. There are a few consistent bright spots, including party-girl Stephanie’s interactions with DJ’s annoying (sorry!) kids; the original series’ now-twentysomething fans will likely identify with her more than any other character.

It feels like just leaving the TV on as rerun after rerun piles up. The laugh lines are predictable. The gags play out exactly as you'd expect.

The first episode does a nice enough job juxtaposing scenes from the original with parallel scenes in the present, but enjoying Fuller House will require a high tolerance for laugh tracks and corny sitcom humor.
