Other than that, the contest unfolded with little trouble. After the last few contests consisting of the same sixteen countries, a new nation was brought into the competition; Portugal. However, Sweden decided not to compete, keeping the number of acts at sixteen. As in the case with the inaugural 1956 Contest, there is no complete video recording of the contest still in existence, although clips have been found. As with 1956, a radio broadcast of the entire contest is available. It is believed that the video was destroyed in a fire that ravaged the DR Studios in the 1970's, and that no other broadcaster recorded the entire show. The judging system was slightly altered, this time the number of judges for each nation reverted back to ten, and the top three songs were awarded 5, 3 and 1 point(s) respectively.
