The main game is still undeniably fun, and anyone who enjoyed the first (or likes a good challenge) should check it out. Just be warned, it’s an occasionally bumpy ride.

At the end of the day, Omega Quintet is a solid first effort on the PS4 for IF/Compa with a neat premise and an enjoyable combat engine.

Goat Simulator is the definition of dumb fun. It serves no purpose other than to entertain. I have derived far too many hours of enjoyment out of a game with little purpose. It is another sign that gaming has changed, and we are able to enjoy disasterpieces like this one.

The idea of a FPS rogue game where you earn new abilities as you try and make your way to the top sounds ever so promising, but with all the issues I had with it, I’ve already bailed out.

After my playthrough, I can safely say that while this is certainly no souls game, it’s one worthy of the time of anyone who seeks a truly rewarding challenge.

Let’s be honest here, many of you are going to upgrade every year regardless of what is added or changed. For those of you that look for major changes before jumping on board, I do think this year’s changes on PS4/PS3 are well worth the purchase.

I feel nothing major is lost in the port to the smaller screen and in doing so, you now have one of the best RPGS ever made literally at your fingertips on the go. It doesn’t get much better than that.

There’s a lot in this little 3DS game that can keep you busy for tons of hours. Just keep in mind, it is a difficult game and it doesn’t apologize for it, but if you can get past the learning curve, it becomes a very rewarding experience that dungeon crawling fans will really enjoy – even if the AI can be dumb as bricks at times.

The PS4 version is very serviceable and really makes me wish we saw other games in the genre actually hit consoles.

There’s no nice way to say this- the combat in Woolfe is awful.

Cabela’s African Adventures isn’t a broken game; it just feels quick and cheap. Considering it already existed outside of these new consoles, and the visual upgrades are hardly anything to write home about, it can be difficult to recommend this to fans of the series.

For a party game, it’s a fun, frantic time for about 30 minutes every once in a while, but this will still just be a game you’ll want to boot up when people are around.

Axiom Verge is fantastic addition to any fan of the genre.

What I was wondering was answered in episode two, and was well done enough and has me wanting to see what will happen in the next episode.

Mario Party 10 strips so much of what I loved about past games and fills those voids with hoops to jump through to get that same satisfaction.

Fans of Borderlands should pick this up, and people that jumped on the new console bandwagon and missed out on The Pre-Sequel now have a way to play it. Even if it has some issues here and there, it’s still fun. This package is a steal.

Ziggurat is an interesting game. I really enjoyed the fast-paced combat and incremental progression, but the technical issues stick out like a sore thumb. Still, if you can get past those there is a neat experience waiting here. Although the price tag feels a little steep, it never felt like I didn’t get my money’s worth of enjoyment out of it.

Code Name S.T.E.A.M. is a decent action strategy game.

Jet Car Stunts reeks of being a cell phone game.

Bloodborne is the next step in the Souls series, and the new, faster combat system opens up some new ideas and scenarios. For those that never could grasp the series, this new entry is not going to change your mind.

The 3D really does work very well with the game. Still, I only suggest this for the hardcore 3DS players and Out Run fans.

While it doesn’t have the best production values, it offers a lot of content to play through even if some of it feels a bit strategy-less at times.

For fans of the series, there’s a lot more Hotline Miami to play here and it still has its moments. For newcomers or people that didn’t get into the first game, it may be a difficult one to get on board with. Review copy of game provided by publisher.

Battlefield: Hardline may seem like simply an expansion to the fourth entry in the game, but after diving in I enjoy it a lot more than the previous effort. The campaign is a breath of fresh air, and the multiplayer adds enough to make it stand out.

As a modern re-release of two classic games, the Homeworld Remastered Collection should ultimately be considered a benchmark. Gearbox have delivered on all fronts: visuals, playability, compatibility and spirit. It’s also a heck of a lot of fun.

I went from not caring, to having to own the next numbered Final Fantasy game, it is that good. Still the demo doesn’t warrant the full price of a retail game, and Type-0 falls flat in too many areas for me to make a solid recommendation.

Revelations really knocks it out of the park when it comes to bringing that classic Resident Evil feel but a bit more modernized.

The Evil Within did a fantastic job of bringing the true terror and stress of the genre back into light, and this first DLC pack offers up some new spin on the game itself.

It saddens me to see one my favorite game series put forth such a weak effort and at the same time see it be localized so poorly with little effort and consideration.

LA Cops is a neat diversion with some fantastic style. I had a blast in the short time I played it, but feel like it grows stale far too fast. This is the perfect game to snag during a sale, it is fun for the time it lasts, I just wish there was more to come back to once the raiding was over.

I’ve talked before about how more isn’t always better, and that sometimes less is more. However, in the case of “The Awakened Fate Ultimatum”, it feels as though much of what made the original compelling and unique has been ripped out, leaving a hollow shell behind.

Those looking for a solid co-op puzzle game might check it out if they already siphoned everything out of Chariot, but solo players need not even apply.

Dynasty Warriors 8 Empires feels about as much of an afterthought as you can get. Nothing about this game feels evolutionary.

Zombie Army Trilogy is a simple game that is a blast to play, at least online with friends.

While not inherently bad, Tokyo Twilight Ghost Hunters doesn’t really stand out from the pack.

It once again showcases that there are so many games and so many ways to deliver and experience them; and this is one experience you can’t afford to miss.

This is an instant classic in my eyes.

Whatever reason you haven’t played this, it is time to finally dive in, and for those like me who already beat it to death on previous consoles, it is more than worth jumping back into. It really is one of the best releases and the ideal way to craft a remaster.

If you’re into pinball, particularly ZEN Pinball, the Iron and Steel pack is yet another great addition to an already solid library.

Even though their gamble with the online connectivity and a few fundamental mechanics fell flat on its face, as a long time fan to the series, I found the experience pretty enjoyable all the same.

Hand of Fate is easy to pick up and play, and even easier to understand, even from the beginning.

While it’s a bit disappointing to find that there are some key modes that are missing from the package, I hope that in the next iteration they’ll put out the complete package with everything that we expect from fighters released in the modern age.

Kirby offers a fantastic experience for the amount of content it provides and the price.

Only the hardcore of players will get into it, and even then they will have controller breaking thoughts while playing it.

At the end of the day, I can say with confidence that Hyperdevotion Noire: Goddess Black Heart is easily the best game in the series, and certainly worth the time of any JRPG fan.

Oblitus is something I wanted to enjoy, but it feels like it was fighting me at every corner. Every time I just started to enjoy some aspects, others smacked me back down.

With all that said the biggest question on everyone’s mind is whether this package is worth $40. yes this is not a small download title, it is clocking in at retail, disc and all. $40 may seem steep, but the content justifies the price tag, players should just know if that content is something they want to invest in. The demo gives access to all three types of game play, and if players enjoy that, then a purchase is certainly worth it.

Just like mustaches, not everyone can appreciate what The Order 1886 was trying to accomplish, but if you know what you’re going into, you just might walk away loving it as much as I did flaws and all.

The Book of Unwritten Tales 2 is easily one of the best point-and-click adventure games I have played in recent years.

Roundabout is a weird game. I found myself struggling to play it at times, but always willing to go back. The cut scenes are truly worth the price of admission, but the game play left me a bit cold at times.

Outside of a few issues though Dead or Alive 5: Last Round is still a super enjoyable fighting game. There is a superb amount of content, and for those not wanting to invest fully, Core Fighters is a great alternative to check out what it has to offer.

The Firefly Diary is a title that showed potential but was ultimately done in by its philosophy on implementing a needless level of difficulty to the experience.

Still, it is a decent time for players that are new to the series or haven’t tried this game out before. Just keep in mind, those awesome moves you’re pulling off will get old eventually.

Super Galaxy Squadron is a ton a fun and replayable for old school fans and high score junkies.

The scale of the battles, the depth of the seemingly innumerable mechanics all point to well-crafted title, but if I were to never play a Total War game again, I’d be perfectly fine with that.

I highly suggest it to 3DS owners looking for a complex series that can last them well over 100 hours. There’s nothing else like it on the system.

Evolve accomplished what it set out to do, and I am having a blast learning all the concepts it delivers. As long as I have friends to play with, it will continue to be in my rotation of games to play. My only concern is fatigue setting in with some players, and the base dwindling. This will kill the game, as playing solo is simply not the route to go.

After years of petitioning we have our Majora’s Mask remake, and it’s absolutely worth the time.

Blackguards 2 is not a perfect game and, unfortunately, not the reinvention of its predecessor it could have been. However, the game does ultimately reward a little (well, a lot of) patience, developing into a relatively enjoyable campaign once the player has progressed past the early stages.

Fans of the Telltale adventure games and people looking for something unique in terms of storytelling and mechanics should really give Life is Strange a shot.

The core game is fun, but I would recommend sticking with one platform throughout and rotating save slots.

Perhaps a bigger emphasis on characters or story could even go a long way to give players the incentive to continue or get more involved. It’s very possible the game simply isn’t for me, and this will become a niche title. But in my eyes, this is one prison I will simply not be returning to.

I think when a game is ported to a more powerful platform, it’s a great opportunity to truly make the game shine, not make it worse by omitting key functionalities. Still, for fans of the genre who love beating down countless enemies as cute anime girls and don’t shy away from a serious challenge, they can expect to have a good time with Phantom Breaker: Battle Grounds.

Deathtrap has the workings of a tower defense game, with the complexity and depth of a hardcore RPG.

It’s dark, gritty, 80’s style vibe goes extremely well with the parkour elements and questing. All these elements add up to take the zombie genre to a new level, one I just can’t seem to get enough of.

Criminal Girls: Invite Only is most likely a title that will be condemned for its slightly misogynistic undertones, but in truth it should be denounced for its shoddy game play, bland characters and unambitious level designs.

While it may be on the short side, I still highly recommend picking up Unmechanical Extended. Like me, you may have a really fun time with it.

For $5 a lot of it can be overlooked, though the grinding to see the rest of the tracks almost forced me to stop playing. Still, with friends this is a great looking racer that thinks outside the box. I would love to see this team do a proper console/PC title in the series, one without all the hangups of mobile game design.

Roche Fusion is an extremely addicting arcade shooter. It might take a lot of ideas from various other games in the genre, but it still finds itself in the position to stand out and be unique all on its own.

While Rebirth 2 is a massive improvement over the PS3 version in terms of performance, I felt the newly included mechanics and playable characters didn’t quite add enough to warrant double dipping for those like me who have already finished the title once before.

For those never venturing into Saints Row IV this is a must-buy, and for those that did, Gat Out of Hell is a solid expansion that should satiate the hunger for the inevitable Saints Row V we all hope is coming sooner rather than later.

Definitely recommended for fans of the genre, as this is the pinnacle of what Shinji Mikami created all those years ago.

For those that have not ventured into this world, the time is perfect to jump in, and even for those that sampled it before, this is certainly a version worth coming back for.

If you’re looking for a title with both style and substance and a hint of nostalgia, Citizens of Earth is your next RPG purchase.

Tetris hasn’t changed much over the years, but it is always a sign that a generation has started when an iteration finally lands on that console.

I highly recommend #IDARB, and this comes from someone that doesn’t play sports games, yet I knew the moment I yelled at my TV during a slow motion instant replay victory, this was special.

Still for those looking for more Forza Horizon 2 there is plenty to be found in this pack. Just know it doesn’t stray far from the original game at all.

If you’re looking for a fun distraction for about 4 hours and have nine bucks to spare, give it a shot. You may actually have a fun time like I did.

At its heart Super Mega Baseball feels like those old games I loved, I just wish they would have just focused on making the core game work and left out the additional systems, which not only don’t enhance the game but actively detract from it.

As a straight puzzle game The Talos Principle is very solid, but the setting and narrative really elevate it into something special.

This was a title that was built to be played on the Vita, and it needed a lot more attention in the way the controls and display resolution were handled, but it felt like very little care went into porting this title.

Most people won’t even know what this game is, but as an on the go Vita player, it’s a title you just might want check out.

Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker is a marvelous puzzle game that stretches its initial value well beyond what I had anticipated. It will take players a hefty amount of time to master it all, and the game does a fantastic job of making you want to see and do everything.

For $30, the Ace Attorney trilogy contains the first three games of the series (Ace Attorney, Justice for All and Trials and Tribulations), which is a great bargain.

It has a few issues, but The Crew is a fun game with an action movie story that I think many will enjoy especially in co-op.

Still, even with its faults, GGXrd is an excellent foundation for the inevitable half dozen or so iterations to come. While it may prove to be a divisive title in the hardcore community, it’s an excellent point for newcomers to jump in and learn firsthand why the name “Guilty Gear” commands so much respect in the fighting game community.

I was excited to play Basketball Pro Management 2015, but in its current state it’s very tough to get into. Anyone hoping for a basketball equivalent to Football Manager is going to be sorely disappointed.

While I enjoyed this table very much, it did take some getting used to. Usually the Zen Pinball tables are a breeze to understand and play, but this Venom table is one exception. It will take some skill to get everything down, but when you do, you’ll see it is one of the better tables to have come out in months.

If Pantynado sounds appealing to you, this game might be in your wheelhouse. Otherwise I would steer clear of its mediocre combat, and limited world to explore.

Just stay far, far away from this toxic hedgehog.

Fans shouldn’t think twice about picking this up, and players looking for some deep RPGs to dig into this holiday can find them right here all for a very low price.

It doesn’t do anything drastically different than the previous game, but more of the same is never a bad thing when the first was such a hit. For clever puzzles, simplistic yet intense action, interesting boss battles and fun co-op, it doesn’t get any better than this.

For $24.99 this is definitely recommended, and almost required to make those family gatherings this season a little less awkward.

Geometry Wars 3: Dimensions delivers a lot of what made the original so addictive, while introducing some new modes that are sure to ruffle some feathers.

Smash is yet another reason to own Nintendo’s machine, and anyone looking for a fun romp would be wise to pick it up, along with some Gamecube controllers for maximum enjoyment.
