While the main game still plays like Madden, hardcore players are going to be upset at the overall lack of improvement in Madden '09.

Crown of Glory is a gem in the modern landscape of first-person shooters and 3D normal-mapped, vertex-shaded graphics. It may not be the prettiest of titles, but it is certainly a deep strategy game that combines both the empire building and turn-based combat styles into a brilliant title based in the era of Napoleon.

Mafia: The Old Country is a playable movie first and a game second. It's a well-crafted, engaging, if sometimes overly predictable narrative of Mafia intrigue. If that sort of thing appeals to you, then there's a whole lot to like, and it's probably worth playing for that on its own merits. As a game, it feels somewhat lackluster, with most of the actual gameplay feeling like the bare minimum before one can return to the story, and it's supported by some great set pieces. If you want a cool period crime drama, then The Old Country has you covered, but don't expect much more beyond that.

Berserk Boy is a fine side-scrolling adventure that's elevated by its high-speed movement and fast action, which takes it above being another Mega Man-style clone. The inclusion of some light exploration elements also gives the game some legs to make it more than a mostly straightforward adventure. However, the overall low difficulty is a little disappointing, while the need to be a near-completionist to get any ending is irksome. It remains a good game, but it could've been better if some of those quirks had been ironed out.

As an acquaintance of mine once said, this game takes away the blood and gore that makes most shooting games cool, but replaces it all with robots, which are equally cool.

If you’re happy to ignore its single-player mode, Evil Dead: The Game is a well-balanced and fun asymmetric horror title that stands above all other games in this growing sub-genre.

If you happened to be among the first to solve some of the component puzzles for Haunted Apiary or another such ARG, or you simply have the patience, love the feeling of being a hardcore puzzle solver, and on top of that have a pretty strong stomach for disturbing, offensive, and humiliatingly subtle imagery, then the International Committee For The Phoenix Arrest could use your help.

Pac-Man Championship Edition 2 is a solid sequel that suffers from trying to add too much to a formula that was almost perfect.

Supreme Commander 2 ends up being a very competent RTS console game. The graphics and sound, while not the best the genre has seen, are certainly leagues better than those of its predecessor

Soda Crisis succeeds in providing action in small doses. Even if you forget half of the possible moves, you have more than enough to become a formidable action hero who's capable of taking down everyone in a torrent of bullets. The brevity of each stage makes it perfect for bite-sized gaming sessions, and the presentation keeps the high-octane action vibe going. It's a fine outing if you love run-and-gun platformers, but make sure to bring a good pair of glasses or sit very close to the screen if you want to read any text in the game.

It's refreshing to play Every Extend Extra because it doesn't rely on a convoluted storyline, talking heads, and so on, and I want more of this sort of thing, but blowing yourself up and making chains isn't enough to stand on its own. Even the new boss fights, which flaunt wildly imaginative designs, don't make up for the lacking experience.

With tons of cameos from classic Marvel characters like the Black Widow, dialogue penned by Punisher writer Garth Ennis, and the sort of loving attention to detail that could please the most finicky of Comic Book Guys, the Punisher is practically a textbook example of how to do a good media-to-game conversion.

Ultimately, Dungeon Siege III is an easy-to-play popcorn journey into the classic action-RPG genre, hitting every checkbox. There is little innovation here, but it offers plenty of examples of how good design and development practices can make a derivative game enjoyable - and how a pretty severely console-designed game can be adjusted to feel largely right on a PC.

Although brief, Galacide executes its idea well. Unless you're playing at the higher difficulty levels, the puzzles and shooting don't conflict, and the pacing of each element is done well.

Its crazy camera makes running and gunning difficult, and being stealthy is too much work and takes too much time. Had the game stuck with its unique, brainy moments, it would have been a much better experience.

Even though it only looks slightly better than its PSP counterparts, the game is still fun, and the core game will keep strategy RPG fans busy for a long, long time. For those who've already gone through the PS3 incarnation, there isn't enough of a reason to get this one unless you never invested in the DLC. For everyone else who are fans of the genre, this is a worthy enough purchase.

In the end, Spellspire is a fun game that's best played in short sessions. The focus on speed is exciting, and the RPG elements make it so that you're forced to put some thought into each of your fights. It can feel rather repetitive since you're always stuck with 10 letters and the monster roster per stage doesn't change. Having said that, it's perfect for the Vita and is a complementary title for those who've already played Letter Quest Remastered.

In short, there are a lot of moving parts that take time to master. The fast-paced nature of the campaign leaves little room to take a breath when in the middle of a mission. While this is a little overwhelming for new players, it certainly offers an awful lot of excitement and replay value.
