I had a very good time revisiting the DS classics in Mega Man Star Force Legacy Collection and it's such a lovely compilation that it's sure to charm you with its excellent cast of characters, oodles of extras, and welcoming assortment of settings.

Mighty Gunvolt Burst is an overall fun and fitting tribute to retro 2D action games that stars two recent heroes in the genre. Although you won't be playing it for years to come, it's still a worthwhile entry in one of the most classic genres in gaming.

Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania is essentially a good-looking remake of Super Monkey Ball Deluxe with some nifty extras which is cool because that's an excellent game to bring back. So, if you're itching to master tricky levels then this package is sure to scratch.

You'll definitely have fun with Shin Megami Tensei III Nocturne HD Remaster if you're a fan of JRPGs and don't mind dark subject matter. The dungeon-crawling and battle system provide a solid level of challenge and the gameplay stays interesting throughout. However, the lack of visual detail and poor music quality will constantly remind you that you're merely playing a remaster of a PS2 game.

Moto Roader MC is one super-fun hidden gem from the TurboGrafx library and it's fantastic that more chums can enjoy this classic racer on modern consoles. Keep in mind, though, that it isn't quite as fun while playing solo as it is racing with friends.

Planet Coaster: Console Edition is the kind of game that's great fun at its core but being able to get the most out of it will require a lot of patience. So, it's worth playing if you enjoy fine-tuning every intricacy of a park and don't mind getting used to its controls.

If you have fond memories of playing the Final Fantasy Legend games on your Game Boy back in the day then Collection of SaGa is simply a must-have nostalgia trip. They may not hold up as well as some other RPGs yet these titles remain wonderfully unique and special.

Mega Man Battle & Fighters is a highly entertaining portable interpretation of 2 arcade treasures that are themselves nifty compilations of classic Mega Man boss fights. So, if you're a fan of the Blue Bomber then definitely play this.

The Price of Survival is by far the most impressive DLC pack yet as it features multiple challenging and visually interesting puzzles that are wrapped in a plot which actually integrates into the main story impressively well.

Gal Gunvolt Burst is the same game as Mighty Gunvolt Burst and merely contains its Ekoro DLC by default. Therefore, it gets the same score. If you've never played it before then now's a great time to pick it up. It's fun retro 2D action in its purest form and the character customization is a blast. Let's just hope that Inti Creates does something a little more original for their next release.

TOKOYO: Tower of Perpetuity is the kind of indie that I'll gladly pick up every now and then as I try to outdo my previous efforts. It may not be the type of game that you'll play obsessively but it's definitely a blast in short bursts.

Pit People is a must-have game for its humour alone. Even though its gameplay doesn't live up to many other SRPGs, the fact that you'll be laughing as you cooperate with a friend makes it one of the most enjoyable and memorable entries in the genre.

I'm having a wonderful time with After the Fall - Complete Edition as it brings me back to the good old zombie-shooting arcade days and I can't wait to enjoy it multiplayer with other genre fans so look for me online and we can explode zombie heads together.

Time Loader is a wonderful game that's set in a beautifully-presented miniature world. It may have some gameplay issues later in its campaign but the amount of fun that you'll have unraveling the story as you solve puzzles still makes for a good time overall.

Induction is perhaps the most satisfying puzzle game that I've played all year but that level of satisfaction can only be achieved after lengthy periods of carefully fine-tuning your solutions. This won't appeal to everyone but I like it and that's all that matters, right?

Owlboy is one of the most unique 2D indie games that I've ever played. Even though it can be frustrating and tedious at times, what's here is still a memorable and delightful adventure that genre fans should definitely check out.

I didn't think we'd ever see Gex again but Gex Trilogy proves that this irreverent and charming series is definitely enjoyable and unique enough for today's gaming audiences. With that being said, the humour and visuals surely haven't held up as well as a gecko clinging to the ceiling.

Although some aspects haven't aged well, I'm very happy that Class of Heroes: Anniversary Edition is here as it reminded me of some great times that I had when I originally played it for PSP way back in the day. It may not be top of its class but it still deserves a B.

There's no denying how wonderful it is that a long-lost arcade gem was completed and released nearly 30 years later and Clockwork Aquario certainly provides enough frantic fun that you'll come back whenever you want a quick fix of over-the-top retro action.

If all you want is XCOM-style combat set in the Gears universe then Gears Tactics will be sure to satisfy but just don't expect it to offer a fully-featured immersive campaign that's anything beyond simply beating mission after mission.

The original is one of my favourite SRPGs of all time and FRONT MISSION 3: Remake does a decent job of modernising the gameplay. However, its downgraded visual assets often make its aesthetics feel cheap.

My hat is off to the developers of Overdriven Reloaded: Special Edition. They managed to create an indie shoot 'em up that actually offers hardcore arcade shooting fun with plenty of bells and whistles that'll keep you blasting away for hours on end.
