Overdriven Reloaded: Special Edition will give you plenty of hours destroying all enemies you are able to reach with your blasters. Like 80's shoot-em up games, improve your skills and manage to avoid enemy blasters to keep fighting level after level in order to complete the main history, in whatever difficulty you prefer. Either children or adults, in your Xbox One or in your Pc by Play Anywhere technologie, Overdriven it's a good deal taking into account the amount of achievements and modes that are included in it.

Overdriven Reloaded is a big game, packing a lot of value and gameplay hours into a small space before you’ll be done with it. It isn’t as polished as Sky Force, for instance, but the roughness is part of the charm, in an endearing kind of way.

My hat is off to the developers of Overdriven Reloaded: Special Edition. They managed to create an indie shoot 'em up that actually offers hardcore arcade shooting fun with plenty of bells and whistles that'll keep you blasting away for hours on end.

Multiple difficulties, lots of extra modes, 4-player local co-op, and, one of the better points, it’s also an Xbox Play Anywhere title, so the value for the price is certainly here. It’s just a shame that the main color changing mechanic didn’t have a bigger spotlight, as it could have made Overdriven Reloaded: Special Edition stand out more in a crowded genre.

I’ve played some classic Shmup’s over the years and whilst you can’t call Overdriven Reloaded: Special Edition a classic it’s still a decent addition to the genre. The most important thing about a game like this is to keep the gameplay fun and thankfully that’s exactly what they do. You can enjoy this game in both solo and co-op and when played in both these modes the game possesses a challenge but never seems to get frustrating, which is great. I was also very impressed with the controls that have been implemented in the game and they didn’t once fail me which is of course very important. There is a few levels to sink your teeth into and whilst some of them are good I did find a few of them to lack in variety and some of them did become a chore when they had to be replayed. In terms of content the game has more than enough for you to be getting on with and the game is definitely value for money. I will say though that some of the modes did feel a bit samey and the game is definitely best enjoyed in short bursts. One of the aspects of the game that didn’t lack in variety were the boss battles. I found the boss battles to be an incredibly enjoyable affair and each boss battle felt like it mattered so things remained exciting throughout when in these battles. The presentation side of the game is something that I was a big fan of. Visually the game has a nice look to it and each environment makes the game stand out quite considerably. The same can also be said about the sound design and the best thing is that I never once grew tired of the soundtrack. At the end of the day Overdriven Reloaded: Special Edition may not try to do anything different, but in the end it doesn’t need to because the tried and tested formula works well here. Don’t get me wrong the game is far from perfect and it does have a few shortcomings, but the most important thing is that it gets more right than it gets wrong. Without a doubt fans of the Shmup genre will find more than enough to keep them satisfied here and in the end it does enough to warrant a recommendation from me. Expand
