If you're a fan of Utawarerumono then Mask of Deception is definitely a worthwhile addition to the series. However, everyone else will likely find the protracted plot and simplistic battle system to be ultimately underwhelming and tedious.

Playing Bubble Bobble 4 Friends will make you appreciate just how well certain classic gameplay formulas have held up over the decades. From its charming presentation to its enjoyable multiplayer implementation, retro and modern gamers will find a lot to love here.

Even though I prefer the arcade feel of the first game, de Blob 2 is certainly a must-have 3D platformer. Considering Blue Tongue Entertainment is no longer around, I hope THQ Nordic gets a developer to finally create a third game some time down the road.

Star Wars Battlefront II is an enjoyable but flawed title. The campaign offers a short and simple yet enjoyable experience and the online multiplayer features tight and creative gameplay marred by an overbearing progression system.

Haimrik has an immersive story but that's really all it has going for it as all you essentially do is solve simple puzzles and battle through minimalistic boss fights. Nonetheless, I enjoyed the story and I hope to see more similar storybook-style games in the future.

People like to call games the Dark Souls of whatever but Dark Souls is the Spelunker of action RPGs. With gratifying gameplay that constantly makes you stay on your toes, I'm very happy that this classic is back and it's more fully-featured than ever before.

Frantics is a fantastic party game that controls impressively well using a mobile device. When you factor in the collection of 14 fully-realised mini-games, you're looking at a must-buy for those who love gaming with their chums.

Fans of first-person adventure games and obtuse plots will love their time with Deracine. Its engaging story and atmosphere will keep you hooked until the end and after it's all over, you're sure to think back on this haunting tale for years to come.

Missile Command: Recharged is a cool little survival-based adaptation of the classic arcade game. Long-time fans such as myself may be disappointed by the lack of stages and strategic scoring but what's here still offers some simple fun.

Minor annoyances aside, Yooka-Laylee is a solid 3D buddy platformer that's full of variety, humour, and a fantastic cast of characters all wrapped in a laid back adventure. Who knew a chameleon and a bat could have so much fun together?

If you dig arcade basketball then NBA Playgrounds is a great addition to the genre. Ballers of all skill levels can find something to love in its enjoyably cartoony take on the sport although your b-ball career may be over well before you'd expect it to.

Casting gesture-based spells is a great concept for a VR game but ensuring that the gestures register properly can make The Wizards: Enhanced Edition an irritating experience. That being said, it can be quite fun if you're willing to adapt to its frustrating aspects.

I'm quite happy that we finally have an official port of this 16-bit beat 'em up gem. Although River City Girls Zero isn't as fun as River City Ransom or its modern sequels, it's still an exciting brawler with a rather engaging story to boot.

Although it's far from perfect, if you're in the market for a cleverly designed character-swapping puzzler and have the patience to continually play through long stretches again and again then Vesta is sure to find a welcome home in your collection.

Doomsday Vault is a lovely puzzler that wonderfully combines the laidback fun of its campaign with exciting leaderboard-based challenges. However, it can also be a bit awkward to control at times and re-playing levels to master them is rather tedious.

Chinatown Detective Agency could be rewarding for the average pantomath and the story is intriguing stuff but if you don't enjoy doing your own research in order to progress in a video game then you'll likely find it to be more of an annoyance than a fun adventure.

Marfusha is a weird game. On one hand, its gameplay is one-note and repetitive; be it intentional or not. On the other hand, it's downright hilarious with its goofy dialogue, oddball premise, and dystopian elements that actually tie into the gameplay. I recommend it.

Irem Collection Volume 3 is definitely the most difficult compilation in the series so far which will delight hardcore retro gaming enthusiasts. Plus, Mystic Riders is the highlight as it's a wonderful shoot 'em up, especially with its lovely co-op gameplay.

Thymesia is one of those games that you should take its reviews with a grain of salt because it's an obviously clunky game yet its combat can be super-satisfying for the very specific kinds of gamers that it's targeting. Everyone else will probably find it too irritating to play.
