    Kena: Bridge of Spirits
    Kena: Bridge of Spirits is a beautiful game for sure, but it's not just a pretty face to look at: It has engaging gameplay mechanics, great bosses and story and an amazing soundtrack to boot. Ember Labs has delivered us an amazing game and a great addition to the PS5 library.

    Gears Tactics
    Gears Tactics manages to blend the Gears of War series with a genre that was a home for such a different kind of gameplay beautifully, though its shortcomings are apparent.

    The Nintendo x Warriors game franchise does it again: Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes is an excellent game, taking the Warriors and Musou genre to another level of sophistication and fun with this entry.

    Dark Deity
    Dark Deity has it's faults, but ultimately it does what it sets to do: Be a wonderful alternative to Fire Emblem on the PC. The devs had their hearts in the right place with this one and it's a great starting point for people who want to tip their toes in the genre.

    Fire Emblem Engage
    It doesn't have the story of Three Houses, but it has the heart of the series. The heart that made it beating for 33 years and - hopefully - counting. This is an excellent game for veterans of the series.

    Bayonetta Origins: Cereza and the Lost Demon
    I really wasn't expecting it to be that good, but here we are: Bayonetta Origins: Cereza and the Lost Demon is one of this year's most surprising games, with a wonderful story, excellent visuals and music and a smart combat and traversal system that manages to carve its own identity - separate from its Character Action genre roots - and for the better.

    Alan Wake Remastered
    Alan Wake is still a good game, but the remastered version reminds us that this game comes from a different era, and I wish that the devs would have implemented some QoL improvements to cater for this current gen.

    Digimon Story Time Stranger
    Digimon Story: Time Stranger is a great RPG adventure game, even when it's not entirely open and free to play leisurely, it's still one of the better Digimon games to be out now that could turn the tide on the competition with it's main rival from Nintendo.

    NBA 2K18
    NBA 2K18 could’ve just done nothing at all, and simply upgrade some textures and update the new team rosters. But it did try and elevate the series to another level. Some things are a lot better, like the neighborhood for example, but the mediocre MyGM mode and the heavy reliance on microtransactions hold it back a bit. It is still a great game by any means and is still the king of basketball games.

    Assassin's Creed Valhalla
    While the previous game was pretty straight forward with what you can do and what you came for, Valhalla is more of a work in progress. You have to put some work in order to get the most out of the game: Invest in your settlement, explore the right places, raid, raid, and raid. Valhalla tries to get the best of both worlds - the new RPG-like Assassin's Creed and the features from the original game. Sometimes it succeeds, but sometimes it fails. The plot is a classic Ubisoft plot, The side missions are way better than any other game in the series, and the combat feels realistic in a good way, once you get the hang of it. It's a must for an Assassin's Creed lover, and highly recommended for any other gamer.

    Football Manager 2023
    The yearly release of Football Manager adds a few great features as well as overall improvements to its game engine and official UEFA licensing. Combined with an already complete and tight package, the result is the best Football Manager up to date. The full price may draw away players who bought the game in the last few years and they may skip this year's edition. As for new players, this is a must-buy.

    Sonic x Shadow Generations
    Sonic X Shadow Generations experience can be summarized as follows: If you've never played Sonic Generations, this is undoubtedly a great opportunity to try it out, as it was and remains great even after the remastered version. As for Shadow Generations, while it's a definitely cute game that manages to renew and restore Shadow to its greatness, if you don't need the content provided with Sonic Generations, you won't necessarily find the investment in this game to be good and satisfying - and I'm sure Sega understood this when it decided to include it in another great and beloved game of the brand.

    Wanderstop
    Wanderstop joins the Hall of Fame of games like Spiritfarer, Disco Elysium, Unpacking, and many more as one of the best content games we've received in recent years, and the experience you'll get throughout it borders on a must-have for those of you looking for a slightly different and emotionally deep experience from your PC games.

    As a first dive into mainline Pokemon games on the Nintendo Switch, Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield work fairly well. They're not the best ones by a long shot, but they are among the better ones in the series.

    FATAL FRAME II: Crimson Butterfly REMAKE
    Fatal Frame 2 Crimson Butterfly is a fantastic remake, although it suffers from some jank like late tutorials and a bit dated combat system, it is one of the most captivating Japanese horror stories ever and it deserved a good remake, so more people can finally experience the horror of the crimson ritual.

    Metro Exodus
    The game lost a bit of its original atmosphere by switching to a semi-open world gameplay style, but it gained so much more, making it an early contender for a game of the year award.

    Avowed
    After two very diverse works, Obsidian returns to their "bread and butter" with Avowed, an RPG with a taste of the past. Although in some areas the game feels too outdated, especially by today's standards, the studio brings diversity to a combat system that is simply outstanding, and with combination of brilliant writing and a world design that is full of secrets they make Avowed a amazing experience for all fans of the genre that I cannot recommend less.

    DOOM Eternal
    Panic Button did the impossible once more, with an amazing conversion of a great game for the Nintendo Switch. Sure, the cut backs are visible, but the end product is very good, and it's a great port.

    With my last game review of 2023, I'm getting to review a solid 2D action game, with great foundations that is hindered by its rogue-lite mechanics (but not by much). Great work by Angry Mob Games.

    Gravity Rush 2
    Gravity Rush 2 feels like a true sequel to the original game. Kat feels and looks amazing, the world she lives in is astounding and the OST and sound design really give this game an anime movie look. The game looks like it would've benefited from a higher frame rate, and the stealth missions do feel dull, but overall it's a good game and a great addition to your PS4 library.

    Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves
    Fatal Fury City of the Wolves is the needed return of one of the most beloved IPs in the fighting games genre, together with revamped gameplay elements and updated designs. with those the netcode is not perfect and I hope this gets addressed sooner than later, cause this game is good, but it could be perfect, and I want more people to get into it!

    Infinity Nikki
    Infinity Nikki is a very beautiful game, even though it features a fairly predatory monetization scheme, it is too early to tell if it will become popular like other gacha games, and it fails to realize what crowd it wishes to sell itself to, action adventure games or dress up games?

    Persona 3 Reload
    I will very freely tell you how much this port is not as fantastic as this game is, the decision to release this port as soon as possible could potentially hurt what is otherwise a fantastic JRPG game and unless the Switch 2 is your only console of choice, I'd play this game elsewhere or wait for future updates.

    Pokemon: Let's Go, Eevee!
    Even with all its changes, Pokemon Let's Go still feels very much like core Pokemon Games. The games are fun, unique and serve as both a good entry point to the series for newcomers and a basis for the next Pokemon games on the Switch.

    Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time
    I know, I know - it ain't pretty, but looks aren't everything, and for what it's worth, this is an extremely solid port of an excellent game. Switch players should definitely give this one a try.

    Mario Party Superstars
    These might be remakes of older titles, but this is exactly what this franchise needed: A return to roots to show newer audiences what made the original ones so special. With some of the best boards and minigames, as well as great visuals and sounds, this is one of the best Mario Party games, and the best party game on Switch.

    GRIME II
    I came with high expectations, and I left disappointed: Grime II is not a bad game or, God forbid, bad, but it does have quite a few problems that, for me at least, were quite difficult to digest. There are some good decisions here, including a combat system that feels more fluid even when it's actually quite slow, a storyline that might enchant you, and exploration areas that are designed correctly as long as it doesn't involve Fast Travel. So is this a game I can recommend? Basically, yes, if you like the style and the fact that this is an Israeli game, I totally see a reason to invest your time and money in it, just know in advance that there are quite a few problems here, and that it's not exactly the standard of quality you expect.
