A game of little steps as opposed to giant strides; it's a game that ultimately fails to push open-world, free-roaming games onto the next-generation, but is, nonetheless entertaining and worthwhile.

A strong, if slightly unremarkable, addition to the Star Fox series, Star Fox Command capably takes the shooter onto the DS, with a handful of good ideas, adequate use of the DS capabilities and a strong sense of design.

Far from being an icon of the franchise to date, and is more of an anomaly that tries to expand the life of the Final Fantasy VII storyline years after it begun.

A reasonable action title that manages to serve a purpose on the Xbox 360. Unfortunately the game quickly suffers from issues of repetition.

The game is so much more then the button-bashing romp that it initially appears to be, concealing a game with a surprising amount of freedom but one with a great sense of urgency and structure.

Additions such as the re-emergence of the Dwarves as a playable character class will be welcomed by gamers disappointed by their omission in the main game, and the extra spell classes at least widen a player's armoury.

It's quite honestly an astounding achievement in terms of the implementation of the physics, which should garner the franchise (and BugBear) further success. It's giant step forward from the original title of 2004.

The whole gambit of interesting locations from Normandy to an entire Russian campaign offers the strat player a real mind throbbing treat as you can play and assume a number of sides.

An overly structured Campaign mode, and a directionless sandbox experience, help to bog the game down with bland gameplay and future of (dare we suggest) possible mediocrity.

Basing Rep Bonus upon the choice of weapon you decide to use and whether it's the suit or body armour, there's a great sense of 'risk & reward' to the game; it's just a shame the actual action doesn't require you to put that much on the line, with its entirely predictable nature.

Undoubtedly a stylish and engrossing variation on the Sci-Fi shooter theme, the novel touches ensure Prey is a worthwhile experience; but, it's probably still not enough if you're tired of the premise and haven't enjoyed id Software' most recent efforts.

Remaining credible to the works of Tolkien, EA LA have adapted The Lord of the Rings into the mechanics of an RTS with some success, though there are one or two niggles that stop this from being a classic.

An exceptional title; pure, simple, fun, brilliant - I simply can't lay enough superlatives around the game.

The PSP version of Dead Man's Chest is quite literally a game of two halves, with fairly satisfying (if frustrating) single-player experience, and quite frankly abysmal multiplayer experience. The combat system is quite an interesting idea that staves off repetition for a little while, but ultimately it's a game that doesn't offer any real chance for replayability.

Online trading is a neat idea that brings back memories of swapping doubles of the real toys but aside from that, V4 is a desperately shallow, repetitive game. Very much a sleeping dog, and you know how that little phrase goes.

An enjoyable experience, especially over short periods of play. Flawed when it comes to the 'basic' game of football, it nonetheless give players a mix of gamemodes offline, before taking the football experience online via the Ad Hoc and Infrastructure modes.

Filling the current void of click-click RPGs with a lengthy and absorbing campaign, high production values and enough loot to keep even a "ninjalooter" happy; whether or not such qualities are enough to look past the game's lack of creativity, however, very much depends on whether you've spent the last five years waiting for "Diablo 3" or not.

A good enough looking title (if your PC can cope with all the gloss turned on), an intuitive HUD, and epic music all helps with the immersion. There are a couple of niggling glitches that could be improved over time through patches, Civilizations at War nonetheless remains a solid title, and one that non-RTS action heavy gamers should check out.

For the many fanatics out there having GTA: Liberty City Stories in the collection is essential just for completions sake, so in this regard the PS2 adaptation certainly serves a purpose and at a price that fits; however, it makes no claims about pushing the series forwards and does feel slightly aged on the PS2, leaving the storyline and characters as the major pull through the game.

For the few dozens that purchased one of the most creative and unique titles of 2005, Stunts & Effects is an absolutely essential expansion that dwarves other packs in comparison; for the thousands of PC gamers who looked past it, perhaps this is an opportunity to go back and discover a game that should be in everybody's collection.

Whilst the Campaign offers a slice of the action away when you're away from a Wi-Fi access point, the fact remains that Field Commander's strength is in its online functionality. More specifically it's the fact that by implementing an Infrastructure mode, players don't have to scour the locality for a second player in order to enjoy some Human vs. Human warfare.
