Oblivion is a game that defines freedom within a videogame, one that accepts whatever role players choose and allowing them to play the game as they see fit; for this reason alone, Oblivion is a game with very few rivals - a flawed masterpiece.

Whilst not as compelling as the main 'Standard' mode, the other five gametypes do at the very least add a certain level of variety to proceedings though they are far from being the main focus of the game. Shame it doesn't come free with the DS really.

Plays brilliantly thanks to the control system, Dark Mirror is far and away the best action title on PSP to date. Quite honestly it wouldn't look out of place as a PlayStation2 title.

Subsistence brings further substance to the Metal Gear Solid 3 experience thanks to its multiplayer mode, and the MSX versions of both Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake, though much of the rest of the bonus features are nothing more than icing on a very rich and more-ish cake.

Fun to play in short bursts, especially over Xbox Live, The Outfit never expands on its original premise set in the opening missions. The gameplay is both repetitive and overly structured, and there's a rigidity that simply makes the experience just too linear in the single-player campaign.

Driving around Tokyo is something that some Midnight Club gamers will have never achieved thanks to the challenge that was Midnight Club 2, so it's rather helpful of Rockstar to package the city into Remix for all to enjoy from the off.

A fluid control system, an engrossing and immersive environment, and levels of tension so high you'll have to watch your stress levels.

A title of exceptional calibre to have on the Xbox 360. The few introductions along with presentation improvements make this an essential purchase if you missed out on Burnout Revenge the first time around, whilst those who consider themselves fanatics should also check it out for Live Revenge and Burnout on the next-gen.

BLACK's biggest misgiving is the fact it's over so quickly. 8 missions simply isn't enough and leaves you desperate for more, and probably unlikely to go back unless you're the biggest fan or to show off to your mates.

Calling 24: The Game a disappointment is a bit of an understatement. Its uninspired third-person shooter gameplay and sluggishly dull driving sections really do fail to capture the brilliance of the TV show, with the mini-game puzzles and the rare idea representing the only spark of creativity in the entire game.

Forget the strive for realism, FIFA Street 2 is a pure unadulterated videogame take on footie. It's fun, fun, fun throughout the game and there's a surprisingly deep single-player experience to sustain your interest.

It may seem like a small thing but bringing an over-arcing storyline really knits the action together quite nicely, although it would have been even better if there were more than just the seven missions.

Beyond a handful of novel ideas BLACK is very much a typical FPS, however given the intensity it's still quite unlike anything the genre has offered in recent years.

It does trip up on the lack of impact that a connect punch delivers, and the obvious inclusion of health/stamina bars, but for gamers not yet tainted by the phenomenal experience of Round 3 on Xbox 360, this won't be something that they'll worry about.

Improvements in the level of detail on offer from the damage modelling to the multi-layered audio, continue to present the game with ever greater realism, and no-one could ever accuse the developers of a lack of variety in the vehicles.

It's a shame that the actual design of the game can't make the most of the action, and so it's questionable whether Round 3 will sustain any longterm interest beyond impressing your mates on a Friday night.

There's no denying that there are a number of features implemented in Empire at War that separate the game from any other RTS title, and the excellent interconnection between strategy and tactics creates an enthralling experience; it's just a shame that certain areas, cannot match the enjoyment provided by strategically taking over the galaxy in the galactic sections.

If Rugby 06 is anything to go by, then future iterations of the franchise will only continue to get stronger and better, since this is by far the best rugby game to date. The flow of the game is more realistic than ever before, with the introduction of offloads, and quick penalties/line-outs working together to bring the game closer to the modern sport of rugby.

Fans of the series will do doubt lap up the new Campaigns and Turning Point missions, but it won't draw newcomers into the Empire Earth II experience.
